Call Clara Kitka at 203-378-7274 for reservations by June 1th. The Knights are Coming! The Knights of Columbus would like to start a new council at our Parish. All men are encouraged to consider membership in this fine Catholic organization. There will be an information night on Thursday, June 10th at 7:30 in the Church Hall for men who are interested in joining or those who wish to know more about the Knights. There are flyers are at the doors of the church as well as an information brochure. VBS 2010 - High Seas Expedition: St. Mark Parish will again offer summer vacation bible school for children in rising grades 1 through 6 from Monday, July 12, to Friday, July 16, from 9 AM to Noon. The VBS registration forms are online at www.stmarkstratford.org under Religious Education. St. Mark Parish families will be given first preference for registration and enrollment is limited to 100 children. Please register as soon as possible. Adult helpers are always welcome. Attention Vegetable Gardeners - Help feed the hungry this summer: We are asking vegetable gardeners to please consider planting a few extra plants this spring for the Connecticut Food Bank. In conjunction with Catholic Charities Harvest Now Garden Project, St. Mark’s parish office will be collecting vegetables on Wednesdays to be delivered to the Connecticut Food Bank on Thursday mornings. All you need to do is grow, harvest and drop off your extra produce at the St. Mark Parish Office Garage any time on Wednesday. If you have questions, please call Susan Lenahan at 203-377-0444. Bishop’s Annual Appeal -We are very pleased to report that the 2010 Living Our Faith Annual Bishop’s Appeal is being supported generously by our parishioners. We have received 335 pledges towards our parish goal of $130,000. If you have already made your gift or pledge to this year’s Appeal – thank you! If you haven’t done so as yet, your help is still very much needed. Together, we can raise the necessary funds to serve critical ministries that directly impact our parish. Fr. Birendra to Visit Family in IndiaFr. Birendra will be in India from May 18th to June 15th to visit his family. Father has not seen his family in over two years and he looks forward to spending some time with them. Please pray for a safe journey. Father Birendra will return to us on June 15, 2010. 2010 Saint Mark Communicants Please keep the children who received their First Holy Communion in your prayers. Merton House Ministry: We thank our volunteers who assist Deacon Paul cook 250 or more meals three times a month at Merton House. Thank you for helping God’s poor. St. Mark Golf Tournament Needs Your Help - St. Mark’s Golf Tournament, which will be held on Monday, June 21, at Mill River Country Club, needs your help. While we hope many of you will play, we can especially use your help with raffle gifts and prizes, water, soda and snacks for the golf course. The raffle is the highlight of the event. We are looking for gifts like restaurant certificates, any type of gift cards, small appliances, or golf attire for example. Nothing is too small or too big. In addition, your donation will be recognized in our program and most appreciated. We are hoping our parishioners will get involved so we can make this the best year ever. Last year we raised $10,000 to support our church and school. Annual Mother’s Day/Father’s Day Baby Shower: The Respect Life Ministry will again be sponsoring their “shower” beginning May 9th to June 20th. Baby items are needed (onesies, blankets, diapers, etc. ) and something for moms (pj’s, bathrobes, toiletries) which will be delivered to Birthright and Malta House.
