Maysville Local School District Superintendent Announcement of Vacancy 3715 Panther Drive, Zanesville, OH 43701 Search by the Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center Application Information: www.mvesc.org/511 The Application Process The Maysville Local School District Board of Education will employ a superintendent who will accept the challenge of moving a school district with a history of excellence and tradition to even greater heights of student achievement. The new superintendent will replace long-time Superintendent Monte Bainter who is moving to another district. In addition to providing leadership for all programs and operations, the board is seeking an individual who will serve as a model of professionalism, capable of articulating and achieving the district’s mission and vision. The Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center is partnering with the board on the search process. The Maysville Local School District superintendent is the district’s chief executive officer. It is this leader’s responsibility to collaborate with and advise board members on administrative matters, execute policies and decisions made by the board, and operate the district efficiently, effectively, and economically. The district looks forward to finding a superintendent who will continue to build strong relationships among the community, staff, and students. The Maysville Local School District and Community The Maysville Local School District serves the children, families, and community of southern Muskingum County and consists of 54 square miles. The district office, Maysville Preschool, Maysville Elementary School and Maysville 6-12 School all are located on one campus just south of Zanesville, Ohio. The district is housed within 50 miles of Columbus. Maysville is proud to partner with Muskingum University, Ohio University-Zanesville and Zane State College on various educational projects, including our Early College High School Program. More than 2,400 students attend the district’s two schools and preschool program. Maysville also sponsors two community schools, Foxfire High School and Foxfire Intermediate School, which are located within our district’s boundaries. The district operates a Latchkey Program and 21st Century After-School Program. Our caring staff is comprised of highly qualified teachers, administrators and support staff who work hard to provide our students with an exceptional education. We understand that good schools are important to improve the quality of life for our students and community members. Our district is fortunate to have strong relationships with our community members. Maysville is a leader in providing more than 40 dual enrollment options to students in our Early College High School Program. Current and past funding initiatives, such as Race-to-the-Top, Ohio Teacher Incentive Fund, Early College High School Fund and Straight A Fund, support the district’s participation in the Ohio Appalachian Collaborative (OAC) as one of 23 school districts. Maysville and other OAC districts collaborate to build hundreds of college credit courses that ultimately cut the time students spend in college and the money parents spend on their child’s post-secondary education. Criteria for Application The Maysville Local School District Board of Education is searching for a leader with a passion for educating children, a student-centered philosophy, proven leadership capabilities, excitement about the district’s future, honesty and integrity, and superior communication skills. Candidates are expected to have a strong background in public school administration, be committed to the highest personal and professional standards, and demonstrate that he or she: • will always consider what is best for kids; • is willing to live in the district; • has the ability to communicate ideas to the staff, community, and board of education; • is willing and able to assume the role of an educational leader in the community; • can demonstrate the ability to develop both short and long-range goals; • is a “people person” with strong interpersonal skills who has the ability to work effectively in the area of human relations; • has the ability to effectively select, assign, supervise, and evaluate staff; • has the ability to develop and direct an effective management team for the district. Salary and Terms of Employment The Maysville Local School District will offer the successful candidate a multi-year contract. The salary and benefits will be competitive within the region and commensurate with experience and qualifications. The Application Process The application deadline is April 25, 2016.
