The Application Process
The Maysville Local School District Board of Education will employ a superintendent who will accept the challenge of
moving a school district with a history of excellence and tradition to even greater heights of student achievement. The new
superintendent will replace long-time Superintendent Monte Bainter who is moving to another district.
In addition to providing leadership for all programs and operations, the board is seeking an individual who will serve as a
model of professionalism, capable of articulating and achieving the district’s mission and vision. The Muskingum Valley
Educational Service Center is partnering with the board on the search process.
The Maysville Local School District superintendent is the district’s chief executive officer. It is this leader’s responsibility to
collaborate with and advise board members on administrative matters, execute policies and decisions made by the board,
and operate the district efficiently, effectively, and economically. The district looks forward to finding a superintendent who
will continue to build strong relationships among the community, staff, and students.
The Maysville Local School District and Community
The Maysville Local School District serves the children, families, and community of southern Muskingum County and
consists of 54 square miles. The district office, Maysville Preschool, Maysville Elementary School and Maysville 6-12
School all are located on one campus just south of Zanesville, Ohio. The district is housed within 50 miles of Columbus.
Maysville is proud to partner with Muskingum University, Ohio University-Zanesville and Zane State College on various
educational projects, including our Early College High School Program.
More than 2,400 students attend the district’s two schools and preschool program. Maysville also sponsors two community
schools, Foxfire High School and Foxfire Intermediate School, which are located within our district’s boundaries. The
district operates a Latchkey Program and 21st Century After-School Program. Our caring staff is comprised of highly
qualified teachers, administrators and support staff who work hard to provide our students with an exceptional education.
We understand that good schools
are important to improve the
quality of life for our students and
community members.
Our district is fortunate to have
strong relationships with our
community members. Our
parents, grandparents, citizens,
faith-based organizations
and business and agency
representatives display their
“Panther Pride” by offering
scholarships, volunteer hours
and other forms of support for
our students and teachers.
Maysville Local School District
recognizes that a student who
feels supported at school and
in the community will become a
productive, responsible adult who
will succeed in college, training
programs and the workplace.
