Tutorial Reference Copyright © 2002, PIXELA Corp. All rights reserved. Lets Create a Video CD ! IMxVCD is authoring software for creating Video CD in slideshow form. Contents such as movie, still picture, and sound, can be in Video CD. By adding a folder with file contents, a slideshow buttons will be created on the main menu and will be displayed during the playback of the Video CD. You can setup the contents, the slideshow button and the background of the main menu, etc. Slideshow numbers are allocated to each slideshow button and the selected number corresponds to the remote control device for playback. For example, to playback a slideshow, press [1] on the remote control device (This operation may change according to the play device). Also, even when there is no environment to playback Video CD, You can create the Album CD which can be viewed with any standard web browser installed in the personal computer. Now, lets follow the steps and create a Video CD (Basically, CD album can be created using the same procedure as Video CD!) Important Please read this operation warning. For Macintosh users, you cannot create the Video CD. It can create the Video CD image corresponding to the currently supported Toast of ROXIO Corporation. Reference Please read this reference for the function details. Adding folder Run the IMxVCD application, and select a folder to insert contents of the Video CD. The content folder becomes the slideshow button of the main menu which will be displayed during the Video CD playback. Designing the main menu Select background, BGM, etc to the main menu in the layout environment for the fist screen of playback. Setting the Slideshow You can use this setup to change the playback order of the Video CD content. Preview Preview the slideshow and check authoring result. Adding folder(s) (1) There are two methods of adding folders: By adding folders continuously, they will appear on the main menu as slideshow buttons. You can add slideshow buttons until the used space bar becomes full. A maximum of 6 buttons can be displayed in one main menu. Important You cannot add more folders when the number of movie contents is above 97; or the number of project folders is above 900 in one project. Also, a folder cannot be added when the number of contents in the folder contains more than 9,999. Adding folder(s) (2) Adding folder(s) 1. From the FinePixViewer, select a folder which contains contents and click the "Start IMxVCD" button. Reference Please read FinePixViewer manual for FinePixViewer operation details. 2. When you start IMxVCD, the start menu will appear. Then click the "Video CD" button. 3. The folder selected at step 1 will be added to the main menu as a slideshow button. Important When there are folders in which contents are contained in a folder, all of the folders will automatically be added. Adding folder(s) (3) Add folder from the desktop 1. Add folder from the desktop. Windows Users: From the Windows Start menu, point to Program - PIXELA - ImageMixer VCD, and select "ImageMixer VCD for FinePix". Macintosh Users: Double click the "ImageMixer VCD for FinePix" icon found within the "ImageMixer" folder installed in your hard disc. 2. The start menu will appear and then click the "Video CD" button. 3. The layout environment will appear. Drag and drop the folder which contains contents directly into the main menu. The folder you've just added to the main menu will be shown as a slideshow button. To add several folders, repeat step 3. Important When there are folders in which contents are contained in a folder, all of the folders will automatically be added. If you do not want to add all the folders, click the "Cancel" button on the dialog box. Note For Windows users, folders can also be added using windows explorer or the dialog by clicking the "Add contents/folder" button on the main menu. Click the "Preferences" button on the navigation bar to open the preferences dialog box. 2. For Windows users, click the "Browse" button and setup the work folder. For Macintosh users, select a work disk. 3. Choosing a Video/TV format for your Video CD. select a work folder, then click the "OK" button to 4. All rights reserved. Designing the main menu (3) Selecting the style Applying style to your main menu 1. Click the "Style" tag to display the style pannel. 2. Select a category from the style category pull down menu to display the style templates. 3. Click on a template of your choice. The selected template will be applied to the main menu. Note The position of buttons change depending on the number of slideshow buttons or the style you choose. Setting the background of your main menu 1. Click the "Style" tag to display the style pannel. 2. Follow the steps below to select a still image for the background. Important Only still image can be applied to the background. By selecting from the dialog box: Click the "Apply background image" button to open the dialog box, click the "Open" button. and select a still image file, then By drag and drop method: Drag an icon of the still image file you want to use from the desktop directly to the "Apply background image" button. Note Windows users, a background image can be applied by drag and drop using the Windows explorer. By double click Double click a slideshow button in the main menu to go to the album environment. All rights reserved. Setting the slideshow (3) Change playback order Changing the playback order Single content Drag a thumbnail. A number of contents (next to each other) Click the first thumbnail, and press and hold the [Shift] key and you click the last thumbnail. A number of contents (scattered) For Windows users, press and hold the [Ctrl] key , and for Machintosh users, press and hold the [Command] key and click all scattered thumbnails then drag all. Sorting contents in order Select a sort type from the sort pull down menu. The contents will be sorted in accesding order according to your selected sort type. Important You cannot undo sort result. Important Only effective for still images. No matter how you setup, clip number will always appear. Applying BGM to the slideshows You can insert the BGM while playing a slideshow. This can be set for each slideshow buttons. However, you can only set the BGM when there are only still image contents. For playing movies and other sound materials, the inserted BGM will be temporarily stopped during this time. For example, if your slideshow contains image A > movie B > and image C, the inserted BGM will play while still image contents (A&C) are playing. And the BGM will be paused while B is playing. Change the name of content in the text box in the text pannel. Important The name of content has the same name as the added file name. If you rename the content name, the file name will differ from the content name. Excluding specific content(s) from writing 1. 2. Select a thumbnail from the thumbnail list window. Put a check mark on "Do not use" in the content settings pannel. An [/] sign will appear on the thumbnail. Important Contents with "Do not use" marked will not be included in the Video CD. Setting the content image as slideshow thumbnail button 1. Select a thumbnail you wish to apply from the thumbnail list window. 2. Put a check mark on "Set as thumbnail". The selected thumbnail will be applied to the thumbnail of the slideshow buttons. Copyright © 2002, PIXELA Corp. All rights reserved. Preview Start the slideshow and preview authoring result. To preview, click the "Writing environment" button on the navigation bar and then click the "Preview" tag. The slideshow number and the number on the control button in the preview panel correspond acting as a remote control device. Example, if you click button No.1, in the preview panel, the slideshow No. 1 will start. And if you click button No.3 on the preview panel, the slideshow No.3 will start. Note Still image contents will appear for 4 seconds and go to next content when playing a slideshow. If there are several main menus exist, "Next" and "Previous" buttons will appear on the lower right side. By clicking these buttons will let you switch between several main menus. Macintosh Important For Macintosh users, there is no function of creating a Video CD in this application. Video CD (Video Compact Disc) is a disc containing VCR quality (MPEG1) movie/slideshow with sound. One CD-R disc can record the maximum capacity of 74 minutes (approx.) playback length. Video CD compatible players like personal computers, game machines, DVD players, etc. can be used as Video CD player. Video CD or Video CD image created by IMxVCD are made based on Video CD Ver2.0 standard. The playback control function features that using the playback control function to change playback order or to play still image contents from the menu. Video CD corresponds to two standards of TV signal format called NTSC and PAL. The image bit rate is setup at 1.15Mbps, resolution for NTSC is 352x288 pixels (30fps) and the resolution for PAL is 352x240 pixels (25fps). Sound format is MPEG-1 (Layer-2) 224kbps (stereo 1ch or monophonic 2ch) . However, with this IMxVCD, you can write directly to the storage device such as CDR drive at the authoring stage without using any writing software. CD album is a browser album which can be viewed by any web browser installed in a standard personal computer. Even if you have no playback environment for Video CD, you can view it with an installed web browser in your computer. So there is not need to worry about the environment of your friends that you're handing it out. Moreover, as a feature of IMxVCD, you can also incorporate CD album to the Video CD created as stated above. Therefore, you can playback both way depending on your environment. Operation warning In order to use IMxVCD correctly, please read carefully the things below: ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● Please confirm that your storage device (drive) operates correctly before creating a disk with IMxVCD. In order to create a disk, you need to meet the requirements recommended by your storage device (drive) manufacturer. Also, make sure to observe warning and directions given by the storage device (drive) manufacturer. Please use the disk which the storage device (drive) manufacturer recommends. Please confirm that software, driver, etc. which affect the disc writing are not installed in your computer. In order to create a Video CD, a separate CD-R drive is required. The drives listed have been passed our evaluation test. We do not guarantee other drives not on this list for the operation of CD writing. Some players are not compatible with Video CD playback which is created by the CD-R drive. For Windows users, we recommend that you have the DMA transfer mode of your hard disk turned ON. Screen savers, System agents and other software that uses the timer to run application may affect disc writing process. No other applications other than IMxVCD should be running at the time of disc writing. Please confirm that your hard disk has enough memory. When memory is extremely low, this could affect the disc writting process. Using a damaged disc with scratch or dust will not complete disc writing process properly. Copyright © 2002, PIXELA Corp. When uninstalling is finished, a dialog box will appear. Click "OK" button. Starting IMxVCD 6. And delete "ImageMixer" folder from "Program Files" - "PIXELA".
