We welcome your calls and your visits. We hope you will share any ideas you may have about how we can continue to improve our school. PREPARING YOUR STUDENT FOR TESTING DAYS During the testing days, there are several things you can do to prepare your student. Make sure they are getting plenty of rest, eating something for breakfast and bringing a snack to eat during the test. Carrying a bottle of water is also a good idea. Encourage your student to focus on the test and do their best. Students must meet the standards in order to receive their diploma. During the test: *REST – Go to bed early on testing nights. A good night’s sleep will help students to think more clearly. *EXERCISE – Give your child opportunities to exercise. This helps to keep the brain active and alert. *EAT – Make sure to eat a good breakfast each morning of testing and a well-balanced dinner the night before. *ENCOURAGE – Encourage your child to do his or her best work. Help your child take the assessments seriously and to keep working on difficult tasks, but try not to panic. The HSPE offers a snapshot of your child’s skills at one moment in time. All anyone can ask for is students to attend school each day and try their best. Please do everything you can to see that your student is in attendance for HSPE testing. There are no make-up tests. If a student misses any portion of a test, they will not be allowed to continue and must retake the entire portion in August or next spring. 4 SENIOR PROM “Old Hollywood” Date: Saturday, May 7th, 2016 Time: 8 P.M. to 11 P.M.
