SUBIC BAY FREEPORT-Fisher folks in the Subic Bay

against the use of plastics
and other non-biodegradable products that pollute
the environment.
During the recent celebration of the “Araw ng

Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (SBIFARMC) said they
have rallied to the call by the

cause of environmental protection and sustainable development.
The SBMA had enforced
a “No Plastic Bag/No Styrofoam” policy among retail
establishments inside the

put in place stiff penalties

Guagua, specifically Betis, for years, has been known
for its famous woodcarvings.
During the event, SM City

P1.2-M poured to solve fishpond lice
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO--The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources
(BFAR) regional office has allocated some
P1.2 million for the program that would
assist fish farmers affected by “kuto” (fishpond lice) in Masantol town and nearby
municipality of Hagonoy in Bulacan.
BFAR regional director Remedios
Ongtangco said the agency has created a
task force that would help and support the
fish farmers in eradicating the lice infestation that pose threat to the fishing industry
in the areas.
Ongtangco said the program’s activities include the survey of affected areas,
trainings on basic pond preparation and
fish health management.
She said that BFAR’s survey conducted in the affected areas last February
showed that the emergence of kuto was
caused by poor pond management.
“Kuto appears and thrives in polluted
water,” she said.
She said the BFAR team found out a
very poor quality of water in the affected
areas.
“Infestation in Masantol town, specifically in Barangays Bagang, Sagrada, Nigui and Sta. Monica, was heavy that when
you dip your hands in the water, in a few
minutes, the kuto already attached themselves to your hands,” she said.
She said the other sampling points
are not presently infested but all have
experienced infestations in the previous
growing cycles.
She said the fish farmers observed
that infestations occurred during the fingerling and juvenile stages of fish and
shrimps.
Only the mudcrabs were able to survive the infestation, she said.
Ongtangco also said that some fish
farmers even claimed that they experienced 100 percent mortalities for their
tilapia and milkfish stocks.
Likewise, she said BFAR team also
observed that all the fishponds in the affected areas were covered with heavy
vegetation.
“It is observed that at least 50 percent
of the total production area were covered
with vegetation,” she said.
As a result, the BFAR has recommended clearing and complete drying of
ponds.
“Eradicating the vegetation during
pond preparation and prolonged sun drying of the pond bottom helped minimized
the proliferation of kuto,” she said.
To educate the fishfarmers on proper
pond management, the BFAR has conducted techno-demo project to 19 qualified and willing fishfarmers in the affected
areas.
The BFAR official said the agency will
also provide the expenses for pond clearing and preparation.
She said the BFAR also rented water
pumps for the undrainable fishponds.
“Fine mesh screen was also provided
to prevent the entry of kuto from the communal bodies of water,” she said.
Aside from these, she said the BFAR
will also provide 50 percent subsidy of the
stock requirement for shrimp and 100 percent for tilapia and bangus.
“Kuto” an isopod identified as alitropus type infected cultured species such as
tilapia, bangus, and shrimps. ● (PNA)

The courts have been junking
electoral protests filed by losing
candidates in the past mid-term
election all over the country.
In Pampanga, two protests
have already been dismissed
for lack of substance--that of
Sto. Tomas and Candaba.
Protests are ways for losing
candidates to air their grievances about the elections where
they thought they were cheated
and not defeated. However,
they also become avenues of
other politicians to prolong their
agony, as if it will make them
feel better afterwards.
Sadly, the election protests,
which are now placed in the
hands of the regular courts, only
add up to the swelling number
of cases in the courts, delaying the resolution of high-profile
cases to the detriment of those
who have their rights violated.
Alarming, too, is that some
politicians file their protests as
a sort of ego-massage even if
they did not have ample evidence to back-up their claims.
This is a democratic country
where one can do anything as
long as it is within lawful bounds,
yes. But, Filipinos should also
practice self-restraint and consider the good of the bigger
majority before himself and this
goes even to politicians.
Hey! Aren’t they supposed to
know that already?

assassination, people power broke out
in Edsa – Ninoy, hindi ka nagiisa.
Reynaldo Ileto observes that during the Filipino-American War, the
awit (metrical romances) about the
war with Spain appear to have been
circulated in rough, pamphlet form.
As poets, Kapampangans continued
their literary output as inspired by the
existing politico-economic conditions.
Pedro Abad Santos’ protégé Lino G.
Dizon came out with his Pasion ding
Talapagobra (Passion of the Workers)
and its companion volume Biblia ring
Pakakalulu (The Bible of the Poor).
For the socially and economically oppressed before World War II, Dizon’s
voice was strong and clear. Evangelina Lacson noted that Dizon’s Pasion
served as a good illustration of the
handling of the same subject matter,
rebellion, as Shelley’s “Ode to the West
Wind.” In fact, Dizon’s work opens
with a stronger and startling expression of rebellion against the existing
social inequalities at that time compared to Shelley’s earlier work.
Zoilo Hilario also made his share of
proletarian spell as he also wrote several literary pieces for the downtrodden and the underprivileged. The most
notable was his E yo Panasakitan ding
Mangalati, putting up challenge to the
powerful and the mighty. Amado Yuzon also added his piece to the social
indictment of the period with his Ortelano (Farmer). A former editor of Kapampangan papers, Ing Catuliran (The
Right) and La Libertad (Freedom), he
composed a long poem on a plainly
proletarian subject, successfully bringing it off in at least its original rhythms.
Nick Joaquin once noted in a review of one of Jose Maria Sison’s
books, that he found such verses
“charming” because they are “spontaneous and childlike,” which is not
exactly a compliment according to
G. Brillantes. On the contrary, Lilia
Santiago, a literature professor from
the University of the Philippines, has
written approvingly about Joma’s
works and pointing out the simplicity of style and English of his verses
– “ a reflection on ideology by one who
has abandoned the bourgeois school
of art for art’s sake with its attendant
obscurantism and complexity.” G.
Brillantes further notes the stunning
demonstration in a number of poems
of Joma, most notably of which is his
masterpiece – “The Guerilla is Like a
Poet”. •

Freedom, anyone?
As I write, the nation celebrates Philippine Independence Day. I cannot help but mull over
this occasion as I went about the early morning chore of clearing up our front yard that received a
beating from last night’s torrential rain.
The question that dominated my mind as I cut down low branches was how homebodies like
me feel about celebrating freedom and independence. I honestly did not know if I were to be
ashamed or not of my answer to this because I just felt nothing.
I know that June 12 is happily looked forward to by homebodies like me because it means no

is enough reason to stay in bed a little while longer. Who cares about early morning flag-raising
ceremonies led by government officials in landmark sites around the country as reported on radio
and television? Who is agog over the vin d’ honneur at the palace by the Pasig river? What concerns most is that it is a holiday.
Gathering leaves into a nylon sack, I thought of how far our sense of patriotism has gone. On
the rare occasions that I chanced upon flag ceremonies in public places, I have seen that people no
longer stop and stand still nor do they remove their hats from their heads anymore. Neither is the
flag given the respect it is due when one sees it atop a pole, faded, torn and battered. I then question the kind of independence that it symbolizes. Yet, I can only speak for myself.
The West Philippine Sea issue is something that strikes a raw nerve in me. I do not think well
of how our government is dealing with it because I feel strongly over what should be our own territory. At the same time I
feel a certain kind of helplessness over a David-Goliath scenario that everybody knows would be very possible in case our
country holds its ground. As the song goes, isn’t it ironic?
Freedom and independence. Yes, we are free to do what we want in this country. Yet to our people, these words seem
to have lost their meaning as they remain shackled by poverty, corruption, crime and fear. Voiceless millions continue to
silently struggle to survive. I so understand the absence of reason for celebrating Philippine Independence Day. •

to survive.”

Spending and earning
A few days after the recent elections, re-elected
Bulacan Vice-Governor Daniel Fernando made his
statement that he is open to movie and TV offers
because he needed to earn more to settle debts he
incurred for his re-election campaign. His wishful thinking of making a

CAPRICORN (DEC. 22 - JAN 19)
You enjoy working with your mind and your sharp perceptions make finding new solutions easy.
Today you make new discoveries. You always bring an unexpected twist or insight into a situation
and quickly find answers. You are able to teach or help others to be more original when it comes to
words or thoughts than most. Your laserlike mind makes conversations fast-paced and illuminating.
You are an effective worker, citizen and family person. Many close communications are enjoyed after
work with friends. A very good story comes to your attention this evening; a joke, an experience, a
book or a poem can be shared. You are lifted. You will motivate others to tell about some experience
or be creative and write a wonderful story.
GEMINI (MAY 21-JUN 21)
When you have breakthroughs, they often come as insights into your immediate surroundings, home
and environment--your support system. Preparing for work this morning, a family member may mention something that reminds you of an important file or chore or some item you want to remember to
take with you to the workplace today. This could be a dictionary or some technical instrument that
would help you solve equations in a quick manner. You are a grateful one. Work is successful and by
quitting time you will be ready for a little exercise. Could there possibly be someone to exercise with
this afternoona little exercise, a little off the wall conversation, a little laughter bring to close a very
busy day. Friends and family are such a joy!
LEO (JUL 23 - AUG. 23)
You work with real understanding in areas of the mind. Idealism is an innate talent and you are
in love with grand gestures and deep thoughts. Religion, politics and philosophy are enjoyed at
this time. You communicate with fair, just, frank and broad-minded persons. You are sociable and
sports-minded. You dare to dream big. You like new philosophies, long novels and may find yourself
in bookstores this afternoon or perhaps this weekend. You are very imaginative when it comes to
your health, the food you eat and how you take care of yourself. Quick to get the picture, you may be
helping others see the benefits that proper care can bring--mental, physical and such. Go easy; not
everyone needs the same health techniques that you might find beneficial.
LIBRA (SEP. 23 - OCT. 23)
Your inner self and your goals are the most active facets of your personality. They receive more stress
and attention than other areas of your life. There is an instinctive imperative to be powerful and in
control--pulling the strings, as it were. All of this may lead to a greater interest or experience in investing.
Compare, ask questions and use your intuitive insight before plopping down large sums of money.
You may want to spend some of your time this upcoming weekend in researching financial trends
and potentials. You should eventually do quite well with your investment choices. Others may find you
especially witty this afternoon as you join friends in an after-work get-together. A good sense of humor
will lift many spirits this day.
PISCES (FEB. 19 - MAR. 20)
An irresistible force meets an immovable object today. Proceed with caution! There is a lot of energy
available for disciplined work. You appreciate your particular situation and enjoy support from those
around you. A brilliant idea today may need more work but will eventually bring you some recognition.
Being more involved with neighbors or siblings later today keeps friends and family close and you
like that feeling of closeness. This is a good time for planning a weekend excursion or surrounding
yourself with friends and young people--having a good time. You teach others how to create peacefulness within themselves. Peace of mind is clearly an internal matter. It must begin with your own
thoughts and then extend outward.
SAGITTARIUS (NOV. 22 - DEC. 21)
You are very original when it comes to home and surroundings--particularly in the environment you
build around you. This could also manifest in unusual ways of supporting yourself. You find it easy
and fun to create an unusual environment for yourself and your family. Of course, many years of
thought went into your designs. You enjoy surrounding yourself with what is new and different. There
is a sense of harmony. You can appreciate the difficulties of others and are understanding of the
problems they may be having. Music is invigorating and you enjoy attending concerts or performances of friends. Some event comes to your attention and you make sure to provide as many
people as you can with tickets.
SCORPIO (OCT. 24- NOV. 21)
You could make a career out of group or community work. Anything involving attempts to bring
large-scale and humanitarian dreams and ideas to reality will be easy for you now. Your ideas,
support team, and the type of profession you choose, will help you achieve your goals. Your ideals
and inner vision keep what is best for everyone, ever on your mind. You are charming and always
manage to enchant others with your words and manner. You bring a sense of the beyond and mystical to most conversations. You are like a fish in water when in the limelight or in a group--you have
an innate social charm. Political and lucky too! Law or education could be where you will find your
enthusiasm the highest.
TAURUS (APR. 20-MAY 20)
You like your life ordinary and you find little value in new trends and inventions. However, today may be a day
for change--easy does it. Any sort of change threatens you more than most and you do all you can to adjust to
a change you know must happen. Every so often, like those earthquake faults, life is shaken a bit and the ordinary may transform to out-of-the-ordinary. You, however, will do well with your decisions and understanding.
The changes that are scheduled for today will be more conducive to work production and you will eventually
grow to appreciate the new changes. You enjoy searching out and defining points of transformation, areas
for growth. You are able to adjust to the day much better than most and will set a good example for others.
VIRGO (AUG. 23-SEP.22)
Perhaps you are teaching, counseling or giving some sort of advice today; your intensity is obvious.
Some people may prefer to keep their distance. You will however, make a difference; it is just that many
people, especially the young, find it easier to complain than to do the work themselves. You might be
able to show others how to think in advance so they will have some idea about the results of their actions. Your analytical powers are superb and you enjoy finding new avenues for your own inner growth.
This afternoon you respond to e-mail, snail mail and all sorts of other communications. Get the word
out on some newfound ideas or large purchase. You write a thoughtful letter to a sibling. Bicycle riding
is in for this evening.

HEROISM from Page 1
This was bared by
National Historical Commission of the Philippines
(NHCP)
Commissioner
Dr. Ferdinand Llanes as
this city joined the celebration of Independence
Day Wednesday at the Pamintuan Mansion, one of
the seven sites where the
simultaneous raising of
the national flag was held
in the country.
“The war has ended
against the Spanish on
June 12, 1898, and the
American are now invading the country, so while
they
(General
Emilio
Aguinaldo and staff) are
celebrating the first anniversary (of Philippine
Independence) there’s a

warfare in places like San
Mateo, Rizal; Caloocan,
Manila and in here (Pamintuan Mansion), we’re
celebrating the freedom
but everywhere, it is war
against a new colonizer,”
said Llanes.
The said mansion was
where the president of the
First Philippine Republic,
General Emilio Aguinaldo,
led the first anniversary of
Philippine Independence
from Spain in the year
1899.
Llanes explained that
the Pamintuan mansion
is “important” because it
became the “center of government of the republic.”
“Kaya mahalaga ito
dahil naging sentro ng
pamahalaang republika.
Ibig sabihin, while they
were here, what they were
doing? Planning the operation of war. Hindi na ito
rebolusyon. Digmaan na
‘to (This is important because it became the center
of government of the republic, this is war,)--people’s war,” he said.
The mansion became
the headquarters of the
Revolutionary Army under
General Venancio Concepcion, in 1898, and General
Antonio Luna, in 1899. It
was also learned that Luna
drew up plans there for
the defense of Pampanga
against the Americans.
The house became the
official residence of Presi-
dent Emilio Aguinaldo
from May to July 1899,
during the war between
the Philippines and United
States of America.
It was also occupied by
General Arthur McArthur
and members of his staff
in 1901, and served as the
home of the Kamikaze pilots in 1944.
In the year 1981, the
Pamintuan Mansion was
bought by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). It
was restored in 1983 and
inaugurated in 1988 as
Central Bank’s regional office.
It was in 2010 that
the BSP stopped using
the mansion and turned it
over to the NHCP. ●
POLL PROTEST from Page 1
cincts in Candaba town.
However, Attorney Romulo Macalintal, Maglanque’s legal counsel,
stated the ruling of the Supreme Court
citing the case of “Sy vs. Macias, et al.”
decided on March 23, 2010 saying that
a protest attacking all the precincts is
not an election protest and is reminiscent of a petition for failure of elections
that falls within the jurisdiction of the
Commission on Elections.
In her decision, Simbulan stated
that Sagum, through counsel, merely
presented general statements of fraud,
anomalies and irregularities without
detailing the acts being complained.
The court stated that “protestant
failed to show that the fraud, anomalies and irregularities alleged in the
election protest had been recorded in
the minutes of the voting from any of
the protested precincts, and protestant
failed to state any evidence that would
show that such fraud, anomalies and irregularities ever happened at all.”
Macalintal stressed that the protestant is merely on a “fishing expedition”
as he failed to present evidence to support their claim of irregularities during
the midterm elections.
“They don’t even have basis to support their allegation. They are just saying that they were a victim of election
fraud and irregularities but they have
no evidence to support their claim,”
Macalintal said.
With this, the court said that to
allow the election protest to prosper,
despite grave failure of protestant to
comply with the basic mandatory re-
quirements, will allow protestant to
merely fish for evidence.
Macalintal said the decision on
the election protest filed against Maglanque was historical, being among the
first in the country to be decided by the
court expeditiously.
It can be noted that the election
protest was filed May 24, 2013. The
court received it May 27. On June 3, the
court received the counter-affidavit of
Maglanque and subsequently the decision was released June 10.
Maglanque said this is a double
victory for the people of Candaba: the
choice of the people was reflected in
the recently concluded elections, and
the court upheld the regularity of the
results of the elections contested by Sagum. ●

“I always use myself as
an example. Poverty and
other forms of obstacles are
not an excuse, especially if
you have the CCA within
your reach now,” said VegaCabigting. She disclosed that
the CCA offers some courses
as low as P7,000 per semes-

ter.
In the premiere universities in this city, the tuition is
P35,000 per semester for Information Technology (IT).
In statement issued by
the City Information Office
(CIO), the CCA opened the
2013-2014 school year at the
new campus in Pampang. It
will have at least 1,023 students.
CCA President Averell Laquindanum said the
number of students this year
could reach as many as 1,500.
Councilor Edu Pamintuan, chairman of the committee on education, pushed the
establishment of the CCA,
which initially had 382 students at its temporary campus at the city library.
Vega-Cabigting joined
Mayor Pamintuan and his

He added that in conjunction with
its advocacy project, the fishermen’s
group will plant mangrove trees and undertake regular coastal clean-up drives
along the coastlines and in the sea off
Barangay Baraka in Subic, Zambales
and Barangay Barretto in Olongapo City.
SBMA chairman Roberto Garcia
said the agency will continue to support
SBIFARMC in its projects to prevent illegal fishing and to preserve marine biodiversity in Subic Bay.
“The SBIFARMC is our major partner in securing and preserving marine
biodiversity here. We are glad that we
are again together in this advocacy

against the use of plastics and Styrofoam materials that pollute the environment,” Garcia said.
The SBIFARMC is an organization
representing fishermen from communities around Subic Bay--the town of
Morong in Bataan, the municipalities of
San Antonio and Subic in Zambales, and
Olongapo City.
The council, which is supported by
the SBMA through its Ecology Center,
has been deputized by the Philippine
Maritime Police and Philippine Coast
Guard, and recognized by the Bureau of
Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)
as a partner against illegal fishing.
With financial assistance from the
Patrolling policemen and bantay bayan members tried
to accost them but they managed to elude arrest.
Mercado, the third suspect was not as lucky as he was
spotted and arrested when he returned, casually walking a
few meters from the said house.
SBMA, the SBIFARMC has been able to
implement various projects, such as the
manufacture and installation
of 60 artificial reef modules in the
coastal areas of Morong, Subic Bay, and
San Antonio, Zambales.
The SBMA assistance has also provided livelihood projects to SBIFARMC
members and benefited their children
through a scholarship program.
In the recent “Araw ng Mangingisda”
celebration, the SBIFARMC organized a
three-kilometer fun run to raise funds for
its upcoming advocacy projects.
The fun run also helped raise awareness on environmental protection and
marine resources conservation. ● (PIA-3)
When authorities questioned and frisked Mercado, they
found the stolen items and cash money in his possession.
Mercado was brought to the Angeles City Police Station
3 for proper disposition while the other two suspects were
being hunted. ●

It’s a public knowledge that to run for an elective position today requires a lot of money to
survive the campaign alone. Campaigning is one
thing and winning votes is another. Majority of
winners have opulent campaign chests.
***
I have a friend who is into tarpaulin business.
No doubt, he raked in thousands of pesos during
the recent election campaign period from politicians whom he has established good connections.
Aside from his earned return of investments, he
earned a lot of “collectibles” too from losing candidates. Some fled to other countries while some are
“into hiding” in their own dwellings and backyards.
***
On the other hand, there are those who won
elective positions who begged him that they will
defer their payments until they get to rest from
their recent election campaign spending. The winners said that they need to earn first before they
will pay their remaining unpaid balances, just like
vice-governor Fernando in that sense.
***
On spending, I heard that there are still many
election candidates who have yet to file their certificates of election expenditures up to this date. It
seems that the amount they spent is that high that
they need more time to declare as to how much
they have spent to the country’s election body.
***
Speaking of losers, some local candidates
who failed in their bids for elective positions are
planning this early their “rematch” come 2016.
Some meanwhile are targeting the upcoming
barangay elections this October and would eventually run for the “liga” positions or those with
ex-officio memberships in the sangguniangbayan and panlalawigan in their respective turfs.
***
Some opt not to indulge themselves anymore
in politics and prefer to live civilian lives, out of the
limelight. Politics is really “weather-weather” and
not a lifetime career. One may be popular today
but not tomorrow anymore.
***
A year after, some do get appointive posts from
their winning teammates who had their luck, either to
continue their public service or their exposure to the
public or their making a living. The election ban on
appointing candidates in the preceding election still
exists and imposed by the Commission on Elections.

city.
According to the Independence Day
Committee, the Torch Parade aimed to
get attention and remind the people they
experiencing the “true essence” of the
celebration which is to “never forget the
people behind the freedom we are enjoying in this generation.”
Participants at the Torch Parade
marched to the closed area of MacArthur Highway and a program was held
for the blessing and inauguration of the
“Tourism Road Walk” in the busy Dolores district.
The Tourism Road Walk was devel-
oped by the Rodriguez administration to
boost tourism in the city through the development of key sites along main roads
that could attract more visitors.
At the start of the day’s celebration,
incoming mayor Santiago shared his
sentiments and gratitude to the people
who he said “truly sacrificed for the independence of every Filipinos.”
“Napakahalaga po ng araw na ito
dahil walang mangunguna sa isang malayang bansa at malayang probinsiya at
malayang siyudad. Ipinagdiriwang po natin ang ating kalayaan at ginugunita ang
mga nagsakripisyo para sa ating kalayaan
at independensiya: ang ating mga ninuno
na nagbuwis ng buhay at dugo,” he said.
Pointing out the success of the celebration, Rodriguez related the Independence Day to the socio economic status
the City is now enjoying.
“Kapag ang lahat ng mga mamayan ay nadarama ang kaginhawaan ng
growth at better quality of life, then untiunting nagiging malaya tayo sa gutom,
sa kahirapan, sa mga iba’t ibang problema sa buhay,” Rodriguez said.
As a treat to Fernandinos, the Independence Day commemoration was
topped by a Street Party right after the
Road Walk inauguration, where participants had fun with food, drinks, live
bands, and a fireworks display provided
by the city government.
The event was also supported and
attended by the other elected city officials--councilors and board members-together with representatives from different sectors and organizations in San
Fernando.

Bianca King passionate lover
BIANCA
KING
Pero bakit iniwan ni Dennis T???
To the max daw kung main love si Bianca King. Hindi
naman kataka-taka ito
dahil artist si Bianca.
Passionate siya sa kanyang mga ginagawa.
Kaya hindi katakataka na nang magsalita
siya tungkol sa hiwalayan nila ni Dennis
Trillo ay mababanaag
ang kanyang pagdadalamhati. Kahit hindi diretsahan sinabi
niya na matagal din
siyang naka-move on.
Kinailangan pa niyang magabroad nang matagal.
Naalala pa namin nang
sabihin niyang puwede niyang
iwan lahat alang-alang sa relationship nila ni
Dennis. Kung inaya
siguro siya na magpakasal ni Dennis
at sinabing iwan
niya ang showbiz at
maging maybahay
na lang ay puwede
niyang gawin.
Ang pagiging
passionate ni Bianca
pagdating sa pagibig ay mapapanood
din sa character
niya ngayon sa Maghihintay Pa
Rin dahil sa istorya ng bagong
soap ng GMA7 ay handa niyang
Christian Bautista
vs Mark Bautista
Unang pagbibida ni Christian Bautista sa
“With a Smile.” Sa huli niyang “Princess and I” sa
ABS-CBN, supporting lang ang role
niya. “With a Smile” is not an afternoon soap as earlier reported. It will
be shown in the morning, but it’ll
not compete with the hit “Be Careful with My Heart” as it’ll be shown
earlier at 10:15 a.m., after Chef Boy
Logro’s cooking show and before Ryzza Mae Dizon’s talk show.
True ba na inis si Mark Bautista
kay Christian dahil naagawan daw
niya ito ng project? “With a Smile” is
meant for him but Christian eventually took his place?
GMA exec Cheryl Sy says this
isn’t true. “The project is really meant
for Christian. Viewers are looking for
something light in the morning. Dati,
puro Koreanovela ang pinalalabas
namin in this slot. Now that we’re
having a local show, we’re hoping it’ll
make its mark in our morning programming.”
Sabi naman ni Christian, wala
naman daw silang gap ni Mark.
“It’s not true because we’re
friends way back in ‘ASAP’ sa ABS.
We’re together again in the new GMA Sunday show,
‘Sunday All Stars’, at wala kaming problema at all. I’m
happy to do ‘With a Smile’ with Andrea Torres and Mikael Daez. Maganda ang samahan namin sa taping. I
also get to sing the show’s theme song, ‘Ngiti’.”
“With a Smile” signals the return of Director
Louie Ignacio to megging soap. He was assigned to
do mostly musical variety shows and talk shows after
helming “I Luv New York” several years ago. “I want to
thank AVP Lilybeth Rasonable for bringing me back
to soaps. Na-miss ko rin talaga ito and I’m thankful na
very professional ang stars namin in ‘With a Smile’ na
sina Christian, Andrea and Mikael. Three weeks na
kami into taping and they’re all very good, everything’s
going on smoothly.”
“Well, she lets me act. But pagkatapos ng eksena, nakukonsiyensiya ako. ‘Okey ba kayo? Okey ba kayo?’ Hahaha! Nahihiya ako sa kanya pero mabait siya sa akin pero she loves
me and it’s okey with her.
“Tinutulungan niya ako. She’s Juday!
She’s
perfected the craft of acting. You
know what
I mean. Working with her
has been
inspiring, learning process para
sa akin,” pahayag ni
Sam sa
bagong leading lady.
KC Concepcion excited pasampal kay Juday
First time rin ni KC Concepcion na makatrabaho si Judy
Ann. Eh, kontrabida pa ang role
niya sa series kaya naman sa trailer
pa lang, nakatikim na siya ng sampal-Juday.
“Si Ate Juday po kasi, lagi niyang sinasabi na hindi niya kaya
i-fake. She really does it ’coz she’s
in the moment when she does the
scenes.
“Obviously, for the first time,
in my work here, since I got
into
mainstream
showbiz, never ko
rin namang inisip
na magiging aktres
ako or magagampanan ko ang ganito
ka-challenging na
role.
“Because I re-
ally came home as a commercial
model. And I really came home as a
host. So, it’s really such a good part
na napaka-generous ni Ate Juday.
Tinuturuan niya kami sometimes
’pag nasa eksena.
“Nanampal siya ng ganoon kasakit at kalakas. Talagang mari-realize mo na, totoo ito! This is the real
thing. This is somebody na seasoned
actress na napakaraming teleserye
na nagawa at napakaraming artista
na nasampal.
“So, it’s an honor to be slapped
by Miss Judy Ann. Parang baptism
of fire ko na rin, hahaha! Konti lang
makakapagsabi nu’n. I’m so proud,
hahaha!” paliwanag naman ni KC.
Sa June 17 na ang airing ng Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala na pinamahalaan ng Dreamscape Entertainment.
