Description:
This is a reissue of the Grammy Award Winning recording of Nixon in China. The 1988 Grammy Award Winner Adams
describes this landmark as "part epic, part satire, part parody of political posturing, and part serious examination of
historical, philosophical, and even gender issues." The Boston Globe called the Grammy-winning 1987 work "a milestone
in American operatic history." This first recording, featuring the original cast, says Los Angeles Times music critic Mark
Swed, "has an eloquence not since matched, with terrific packaging and Michael Steinberg's program notes, which really
are a revelation."
ARTIST & INFO
Hometown: Berkeley, CA
"His music is both lush and austere, grand and precise. To make an analogy to two poets whose work he has set to music,
it's Walt Whitman on the one hand and Emily Dickinson on the other." -New York Times
John Adams is one of America's most admired and respected composers. A musician of enormous range and technical
command, he has produced works, both operatic and symphonic, that stand out among all contemporary classical music
for the depth of their expression, the brilliance of their sound, and the profoundly humanist nature of their themes. His
music has played a decisive role in turning the tide of musical aesthetics away from the theoretical principles of European
modernism toward a more expansive and expressive language, so characteristic of his New World surroundings.

ALBUM FACTS
Genre: Country
ARTIST & INFO
Hometown: Susie: Alpine, UT
Danelle: Amarillo, TX
There may be no better place to start, when talking about the JaneDear girls, than with the description offered by their
producer, John Rich. "They are," he says, "the girls next door that kick country A**." Their name offers another level of
insight. "We wanted something that was feminine, All-American, and country," says Danelle Leverett, the Lone Star portion
of this Texas-Utah duo. Susie Brown, adds, "It took us a while to find a name that really described who we are and what
we want to say to our country audience, and the JaneDear girls does just that."
All of that is embodied in the JaneDear girls' debut single, "Wildflower," as perfect an introduction to their high energy,
soaring harmonies, and world-class instrumental prowess as a country fan could ask for. It's also a song whose very roots
express the organic unity of the approach Susie and Danelle take to life and music. "I have a vintage electric Mandocaster
which is essentially a solid body electric mandolin that I found in a little guitar shop in Salt Lake City, Utah," says Susie,
"and I bought an amp, plugged it in at a co-writing session and ‘Wildflower' popped out. I had a wildflower in my hair that
day, and that's where we got the title." "We have an amazing band," adds Danelle, "and once they laid it down and we
added our vocals and Susie's electric mandolin and fiddle instrumentation, it was pretty much a no-brainer that it would be
our first single."
Danelle and Susie were each pursuing careers when a friend suggested Danelle see Susie perform at a Nashville club.
Before long, the two tried writing together, and from the moment they finished their first song together, they knew that they
were a duo. While they struggled they quickly began impressing industry people. After they performed at a Muzik Mafia
event, John Rich became a huge supporter, helping them ink deals with Warner Music Nashville (under the guidance of
Scott Hendricks), Sony/ATV Tree Music Publishing and Turner Nichols & Associates Management firm.
Polished entertainers, Susie and Danelle have differing fashion outlooks but a unified approach to the music. "We've
always told John, 'We want to rock,'" says Susie. Not missing a beat, Danelle adds, "We like our guitars loud, our fiddles
ripping and a steady beat that makes people want to dance!" It's a formula for excitement that makes the JaneDear girls
one of the most exciting new acts in the world of country music.

Description: Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys is the first studio album from My Chemical
Romance since 2006's The Black Parade and was produced by new Warner Bros. Records Chairman Rob Cavallo, who
produced The Black Parade as well as albums by Dave Matthews Band, Jawbreaker, and The Goo Goo Dolls, among
many others.
ARTIST & INFO
Hometown: New Jersey Band Members: Gerard Way (vocals), Ray Toro (guitar), Mikey Way (bass), Frank Iero (guitar)
My Chemical Romance formed in suburban New Jersey in 2001 out of a mutual love of horror movies, music and punk
philosophies. Following 2002's indie debut, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, 2004's Three Cheers
For Sweet Revenge cracked the Top 30 and spawned the pop Top 40 "Helena" and Top 10 Modern Rockers "I'm Not OK
(I Promise)" and "The Ghost Of You." The "Helena" video was #1 on "TRL" and earned five VMA nominations. The 2005
CD+2DVD package Life On The Murder Scene reached the pop Top 30. 2006's The Black Parade shot to No. 2 on
Billboard's Top 200 album chart, selling more than 240,000 copies its first week of release, and spawning four Modern
Rock smash singles and has sold more than 3 million albums worldwide. Dubbed "Album of the Year" by Blender
Magazine, The Black Parade earned raves from critics (Rolling Stone called it "a rabid, ingenious paraphrasing of echoes
and kitsch from rock's golden age of bombast," while Spin called it "savage and heartfelt") and cemented MCR's status as
a world-class rock band.

ARTIST & INFO
Hometown: Bronx, NY
Since emerging on the NYC café circuit in 2001, this Russian-born, Bronx-bred artist has been hailed as a truly special
talent. With an uninhibited imagination and acute sense of detail both in music and words, Regina Spektor has gone from
practicing on an out of tune piano in the basement of her local synagogue to hypnotizing small crowds in NYC's lower East
Side to selling out venues like New York's Radio City Music Hall worldwide. Continuing to showcase her amazing ability to
turn the ordinary into the extraordinary with her unique and provocative vocal style and prodigious piano skills garnered
through years of classical training, Spektor recently released her latest album far, to an overwhelming response from both
fans and critics and it debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top 200. The New York Times raves far is "[Spektor's] most
ambitious work sonically and her storytelling is as elliptical as ever" while The UK Sunday Times agrees this is "her most
accomplished, mystifying, eclectic and beautiful release to date. It doesn't just fly, it soars." far is the follow up to Spektor¹s
breakthrough album Begin To Hope which spent 5 weeks in a row at #1 on the Billboard new artists chart before moving to
#20 on the Billboard Top 100 and selling 1 million copies worldwide (Gold or Platinum in 7 countries).

Culiacan. In 1939 he began to pursue a solo career, singing at small venues around the city and having the opportunity to
join a local radio station show. Pedro Infante's first record was released in December 1943. Nominated as Best Actor for
his roles in the 1947 movie Cuando Lloran Los Valientes and 1948's Los Tres Huastecos, he finally achieved the honor in

ALBUM FACTS
Genre: Rock Radio Formats: College, AAA non-comm, Americana
Description: "I'm actually really shy," insists Jessica Lea Mayfield. "Not musically, but personally."
This uncommonly mature 21-year-old singer-songwriter's Nonesuch debut balances the warm-hearted with the
cold-blooded. Tell Me is a stunningly forthright 11-song set that addresses late-night longing, serial heartbreak, and
intoxicatingly dangerous liaisons conducted in dimly lit barrooms or roadside motels. By the end, the only heart intact is
Mayfield's own. It's as if she'd stripped the sentimentality and ruefulness from a bunch of classic country songs, leaving
only stark emotion. The Black Keys' singer and guitarist Dan Auerbach, who produced and engineered Tell Me at his Easy
Eye Sound System studio in Akron, Ohio, matches Mayfield's candor with eerily minimal, brilliantly constructed tracks that
keep her mesmerizing, unadorned voice front and center.
ARTIST & INFO
Kent, Ohio native Mayfield, at least as she portrays herself on record, could have walked out of a darkly dramatic Black
Keys murder ballad like "Ten Cent Pistol." In fact, many of the duo's fans first learned of Mayfield through a soulful duet
with Auerbach, "Things Ain't Like They Used To Be," that memorably closed the 2008 Black Keys disc, Attack and Release
.
Auerbach discovered Mayfield through her 2005 EP White Lies, self-pressed in a single run of 100 copies, that she'd cut at
home with her brother, David. Auerbach was impressed enough with this bedroom recording to contact Mayfield via her
Myspace page, leaving a simple message: "Hi, my name is Dan, and I play with a band called The Black Keys out of
Akron." Together, they embarked on recording Mayfield's bare-bones first album, the independently released With
Blasphemy So Heartfelt, which garnered an 8.2 rating on Pitchfork and uniformly enthusiastic reviews elsewhere.
NPR's World Café declared she has "a mature sound that seems evolved beyond her years," while the New York Times
added that her sound is "guarded, insinuating, mesmerizing...music that lets you hear all its details."

ALBUM FACTS
Genre: Rock Radio Formats: College, AAA non-comm, Americana Packaging Specs: 1-LP 180 gram black vinyl at
Pallas, single-pocket Stoughton jacket with CD in babypack, double sided insert and sticker.

Description:
Live In Marciac, a two-CD/one DVD set, is pianist and composer Brad Mehldau’s second collection of live solo recordings,
joining Live In Toyko in his Nonesuch catalogue. This engrossing set, from a summer festival in Marciac, France, features
both Mehldau originals and his ruminative explorations of material from such artists and writers as Nick Drake, Radiohead,
John Lennon and Paul McCartney, and Kurt Cobain, along with American Songbook classics from Cole Porter (“It’s All
Right With Me”) and Rogers and Hammerstein (“My Favorite Thing”).
The accompanying film offers a beautifully rendered, piano’s-eye view of Mehldau from this French performance, an
extraordinarily up-close opportunity to observes his hands—and mind—at work. As London’s Telegraph has noted, “He’s a
pianist who has it all, technically speaking, and he also has a fabulously well-stocked brain that can mingle different
musical traditions. He can turn a standard with consummate musicianship and real swing, he can mine the depths of a
blues chord sequence, he can summon a rock-anthem ecstasy. And lurking in the background is a fascination with
classical music, revealed in the way inner parts surge and pluck at the main melody.”
The release of this live set caps a remarkable year for the pianist, who just celebrated his 40th birthday in August. Mehldau
was awarded the prestigious Richard and Barbara Debs Composers Chair at Carnegie Hall for the current season, in
recognition of his “sensuous, cerebral, and incandescent” work. Through spring 2011, he is serving as an artist in
residence at Carnegie Hall, programming concerts—including the recent live premiere of his latest original work, Highway
Rider—and conducting master classes, as well as collaborating with other artists, such as mezzo soprano Anne Sofie von
Otter, with whom he will perform an expanded version of his Love Songs. This honor marks the first time the chair has
been given to a jazz artist and, as New York magazine put it, not just any cat—a pianist with broad influences and a
cerebral style.”
Highway Rider, released on Nonesuch in March, has been universally acclaimed. Naming it one of the best jazz releases
of 2010, NPR declared, “With producer Jon Brion lending a hand, Mehldau has put forth a double album of entirely original
music that shows how much he's grown as a composer, and not just a renowned pianist. “ The Los Angeles Times
concurs: “Full of unexpected twists and lush, evocative detours, Highway Rider is most definitely a trip, and one well worth
taking.”
ARTIST & INFO
Hometown:
New York, NY
Jazz pianist Brad Mehldau has recorded and performed extensively since the early 1990s. Mehldau's most consistent
output over the years has taken place in the trio format. Starting in 1996, his group released a series of five records on
Warner Bros. entitled The Art of the Trio. Mehldau also has a solo piano recording entitled Elegiac Cycle, and a record
called Places that includes both solo piano and trio songs. Elegiac Cycle and Places might be called "concept" albums.
They are made up exclusively of original material and have central themes that hover over the compositions. Other
Mehldau recordings include Largo, a collaborative effort with the innovative musician and producer Jon Brion, and
Anything Goes-a trio outing with bassist Larry Grenadier and drummer Jorge Rossy. His first record for Nonesuch, Brad
Mehldau Live in Tokyo, was released in 2004. After ten rewarding years with Rossy playing in Mehldau's regular trio,
drummer Jeff Ballard joined the band in 2005. The label releasesd its first album from the Brad Mehldau Trio-Day is Done
-in 2005.
Mehldau's musical personality forms a dichotomy. He is first and foremost an improviser, and greatly cherishes the
surprise and wonder that can occur from a spontaneous musical idea that is expressed directly, in real time. But he also
has a deep fascination for the formal architecture of music, and it informs everything he plays. In his most inspired playing,
the actual structure of his musical thought serves as an expressive device. As he plays, he listens to how ideas unwind,
and the order in which they reveal themselves. Each tune has a strongly felt narrative arch, whether it expresses itself in a
beginning, an end, or something left intentionally open-ended. The two sides of Mehldau's personality-the improviser and
the formalist-play off each other, and the effect is often something like controlled chaos.
Mehldau has performed around the world at a steady pace since the mid-1990s, with his trio and as a solo pianist. His
performances convey a wide range of expression. There is often an intellectual rigor to the continuous process of
abstraction that may take place on a given tune, and a certain density of information. That could be followed by a stripped
down, emotionally direct ballad. Mehldau favors juxtaposing extremes. He has attracted a sizeable following over the
years, one that has grown to expect a singular, intense experience in his performance.
In addition to his trio and solo projects, Mehldau has worked with a number of great jazz musicians, including a rewarding
gig with saxophonist Joshua Redman's band for two years, recording and concerts with Charlie Haden and Lee Konitz,
and recording as a sideman with the likes of Wayne Shorter, John Scofield, and Charles Lloyd. For more than a decade,
he has collaborated with several musicians and peers whom he respects greatly, including the guitarists Peter Bernstein
and Kurt Rosenwinkel and tenor saxophonist Mark Turner. Mehldau also has played on a number of recordings outside of
the jazz idiom, like Willie Nelson's Teatro and singer-songwriter Joe Henry's Scar. His music has appeared in several
movies, including Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut and Wim Wender's Million Dollar Hotel. He also composed an original
soundtrack for the French film, Ma Femme Est Une Actrice. Mehldau also composed two new works commissioned by
Carnegie Hall for voice and piano, The Blue Estuaries and The Book of Hours: Love Poems to God, which were performed
in the spring of 2005 with the acclaimed classical soprano, Renee Fleming. These songs were recorded with Fleming and
released in 2006 on the Love Sublime record; simultaneously, Nonesuch released an album of Mehldau's jazz
compositions for trio entitled House on Hill.
