SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM
Baptisms for children take place in Spanish on the first and third
Saturday and third Sunday of the month at 2:00 pm and in English
on the second Sunday of the month at 2:00 pm. Parents must register the child at the Rectory at least one month in advance.

All children after the age of five should be registered by their parents into our Religious Education Program which begins every

pool at the beautiful Private Retreat House of Maryandell in
Nyack, just 30 minutes away from OLM Church! For teens
12 and up! Saturday, August 14th. Leaving at 9:00 am and
returning at 6:00 pm. The cost is just $20 p/p and includes
bus ride, pool and BBQ lunch! Please reserve your seat
with a $5.00 deposit. This is a private event only for the
kids of our Church. The pool is with a certified life guard.
The grounds and pool are all yours all day! Please register

MISSION APPEAL
Every year the office for the Propagation of Faith
through the Archdioceses of New York, assigns to
us a Missionary Group to come to our parish for a
weekend of Mission Appeal on behalf of a poor Dioceses in the world. Fr. Anthony Balthazar from the
Dioceses of Kumbakonam in India will be present at
all Masses on the weekend of August 7/8, 2010 for
that appeal. Please support their Mission.
The annual Feast of Our Lady of Mercy will be
celebrated with a Solemn Mass on Saturday, September 25th, at 6:00 PM by Bishop Dennis Sullivan, Vicar
General of the Archdioceses of New York.
PARISH FAIR
The annual Parish Fair will take place on Sunday,
September 26th, as an all day event with raffles, food,
entertainment and much more in the School’s auditorium and backyard. Tickets for the Fair are now
available at the parish office and the gift shop.

Registration for the Sacraments of First Holy Communion
and Confirmation have already begun from 10 am to 5 pm
at the Parish Office. Registration per child is $60.00 per

the same family before September 15th. Please bring baptism certificate if your child is baptized or birth certificate if

WORLD YOUTH DAY 2011 IN MADRID
The World Youth Day Festival will take place next
year 2011 with Pope Benedict XVI in Madrid, Spain.
It is our hope to take a group of young people to this
world wide Catholic Event.

Thursday in the Parish Hall after the 5:15 pm Mass.

PROPER WAY OF DRESS IN CHURCH
It is summer and it is hot. However, we need to
avoid wearing beach wear or tube tops in Church.
Out of respect to God and others please use proper
cloths while in Church, and so teach your children

Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
VALUES TO LIVE BY
Today’s scriptures contain some catch phrases that are still
quite familiar in our world: “All is vanity,” and “Eat, drink, and
be merry” are both scriptural in origin. In the same way that it
is easy to pray last week’s Lord’s Prayer thoughtlessly, it is
easy to let the potent passages of scripture that are built on
these common sayings glide right off our slick ears. Last
week’s scriptures instructed us to listen attentively to the Lord,
so that we might pray carefully. Our listening and our prayer
are intimately connected. In the same way, this week we learn
that our values and our living are connected as well. It has become quite common to ask, “Do you own your possessions or
do they own you?” Like the familiar maxims from today’s
readings, we might be tempted to quote this saying flippantly,
and think that in the quoting of it we have truly considered it,
perhaps lived it. Not true, Qoheleth, Paul, and Jesus tell us today. It is not wrong to treasure or cherish things of earth or of
our own humanity; it is only wrong when those things we cherish are not of God, are not of the self-giving Christ.

Decimoctavo Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario
VALORES PARA VIVIR
Hoy el mensaje de las Escrituras contiene algunas frases todavía familiares en nuestro mundo: “Todo es vanidad” y
“come, bebe y sé feliz” tienen su origen en la Biblia. Así como
resulta fácil rezar el Padre Nuestro sin pensar, también es fácil
dejar que los potentes mensajes bíblicos que se fundan en dichos de sentido común se deslicen por nuestros resbaladizos
oídos. El mensaje bíblico de la semana pasada nos instruyó
a escuchar atentamente al Señor, para que podamos rezar con
cuidado. Nuestro oír y nuestro rezar están íntimamente ligados.
De igual manera, esta semana aprendemos que nuestros valores
y nuestra vida también están ligados. Se ha tornado común
preguntar: “¿Eres amor de tus posesiones o son ellas las que te
poseen?” Al igual que las máximas de las lecturas de hoy,
podemos sentirnos tentados a citarlas sin más, y pensar que al
hacerlo verdaderamente las consideramos, y tal vez las vivimos. No es verdad, nos dicen hoy Qohelet, Pablo y Jesús. No
es malo atesorar o deleitarnos en las cosas de la tierra o de
nuestra propia humanidad; solo está mal cuando lo que nos
deleita no es de Dios, y no son del Cristo que se entrega.

para los jóvenes de la parroquia,

CATECISMO/DOCTRINA
Las registraciones para los Sacramentos de Comunión y Confirmación
comenzaron ya de 10 a.m. a 5 p.m.,
de lunes a viernes y los Domingos de 11 a.m. a 1
p.m. en la Oficina Parroquial con la Hna. Maria Manuela. El costo de la registración es de $60 por niño, $100 por dos niños, y $130 por tres niños de la
misma familia antes del 15 de Septiembre. Favor de
traer el certificado de Bautismo si su niño/a, es bautizado/a, o de nacimiento si su niño/a, no esta bautizado/a.
SE NECESITAN
Necesitamos Catequistas para enseñar o ayudar
con la Primera Comunión los domingos. Si esta interesado/a, favor de ver a la Hna. María Manuela en
la oficina parroquial. Gracias!
FORMA DE VESTIR EN LA IGLESIA
Es verano y esta caliente. Sin embargo, debemos de
evitar vestirnos con ropa de playa en la Iglesia. Por
respeto a Dios y a los demas, favor de bestir apropiadamente para venir a la Iglesia y tambien ensenar
asi a los ninos y jovenes. Gracias!
