The third edition of La Grande Bellezza of OperaWine, premier event to Vinitaly,
closed with a round of applause on Saturday 5 April: the ability to make new
contacts with high-profile international journalists and wine business leaders
was widely appreciated by producers whilst international guests welcomed the
opportunity to expand their knowledge of Italian wine.
The Grand Tasting of this year’s Top 100 was preceded by a 1pm press conference
that kept the public abuzz with a succession of announcements including the
launching of Vini24.com, the new wine club of the daily business paper Il Sole 24
Ore, and the crowning of the first ever Mr. and Miss Vinitaly International.
Last but not the least, the proclamation of the winner of #BestOperaWine, the
Twitter contest organized in collaboration with Decanter Radio2, Wine Spectator
and Image Building Digital. Users voted Rotari Flavio Trento DOC Riserva 2006 as
their favourite among the 100 Top Italian Wines at the event.

After New York and Chengdu Vinitaly International Academy landed in Verona at
the 48th edition of Vinitaly: here for the first time Italian grape varietals shared the
stage with fine and rare French wines from the Graves and Y and Yquem.
This year’s edition of Talk Business Series offered, instead, a 360-degree overview of
the business of Italian wine in China, Hong Kong, Russia, USA, Australia and Korea
through panel discussions with top players from each market.
