Message from Mr. Haigh, Head teacher
Good evening and thank you for supporting John Hampden’s Technology
Transformation Journey.
All education is important for it unlocks all the knowledge, skills
and lifelong interests we can use all of our lives.
ICT is a valuable tool that can enhance our learning and also extends
our reach to the knowledge and all of those skills. Technological
developments are happening now at the present and will continue
into our futures. In this continually changing world it is vital that
whatever they do or become, our children have access to such a
powerful resource in order to maximise their education to the fullest
extent and potential.
The Tech Transformation is the way forward in making this happen
at John Hampden Primary School and we all thank you for your
support.
Transforming Technology at
John Hampden Primary & Nursery School
“The “killer app” for education will always be the teacher, however 21st century technology
can bring education to life and significantly enhance the education experience”
John Hampden Primary and Nursery School (JHS) prioritises funds to ensure
it employs the best teachers, and that children have access to essential
educational tools such as books, PE equipment, and science materials.
There is however, a significant funding challenge that cannot be ignored
in today’s climate of shrinking budgets: how can a school hope to create a
technology environment in each and every classroom, that reflects modern
learning?
The JHS Technology Transformation project will help us install vital IT
infrastructure and equipment into John Hampden Primary and Nursery
School. Our goal is to create a digital landscape that gets the best from
technology to enhance lessons, and demonstrably improve teaching and
learning.
What if... children and staff were given fast, reliable access to the internet?
What if... every classroom had interactive screens for exciting multimedia
displays and collaboration?
What if... lessons, student data, and pupil work could be shared across
devices for group and one-on-one learning?
Rather than waiting for the ‘what if…’ and hoping for government funding,
we have an opportunity to join together and deliver a better teaching and
learning environment for the students. With your help and financial support
we could shape the face of our children’s education.
The Technology Transformation Fund is to raise funds for the sole purpose
of rolling-out, extending, and improving technology access to all of the
school classrooms. Our initial fundraising goal is £10,000. The funds raised
will be spent according to the JHS Technology Working Group’s roadmap
and recommendations. The working group consists of school governors and
staff.
The goal for 2015 is to deliver the total cost of ownership of:
• Fast and stable broadband and wireless connectivity across the school so
that digital tools, pupil resources, and learning activity can be shared and
accessible across classrooms and the school community – empowering
teachers, freeing up valuable teaching time, and reducing administration
costs
• A ‘cloud’ system that facilitates learning and working at home and at school
– engaging families, enhancing communication, and improving outcomes to
ensure the very best for and from our children.
We look forward to welcoming you on board. Thank you for your support.
