An Outstanding Staff is the Key to an Outstanding Program Camp Vertical Extreme hires teachers from the community and college students from universities in several states. We seek staff members with a passion for learning, a proven commitment to working with young people, and a wide array of talents and skills. Our staff is trained in many different areas and is what we believe to be “the cream of the crop”. As you entrust your most prized possessions into our hands every day, it is important that we see them in the same way. A Safe, Secure Environment A year-round team of professional educators works full-time reviewing and refining every facet of the program. Since its founding 16 years ago, Camp Vertical Extreme’s highest priority has always been the health and safety of its campers. What We Do At Camp VE Our campers have field trips three days a week. These trips vary from Magic Waters, Belvidere Pool, Skate Co., Volcano Falls, Don Carter Lanes, Showplace 16, the Milwaukee Zoo, and more! On the days that we are on campus, we do many different activities, such as craft time, water wars, games, Science Time with Mr. Steely, and many other fun activities. We also provide lunch and an afternoon snack for your camper! Be a CIT (Counselor-in-Training) The CIT opportunity is available for 14- and 15-year-olds. The cost is $50.00 a week plus registration fee. CIT’S will work with our first through fifth grade groups. A CIT’s job is to help the younger groups on field trips, events, and activities. Each day, a camp counselor will assign them to their daily group and tasks. If your teen is feeling like they have outgrown camp, give the CIT program a try. Mr. Steely will be teaching science classes in our regular summer camp program FREE of charge beginning Week 3 and every other week through the rest of the summer. He will be doing all kinds of fun science activities with the kids. Each of our groups will have a half-hour class with Mr. Steely twice a week. This is always a highlight for our campers. If your camper wants MORE time with Mr. Steely, they can sign up for some of his 2-hour enrichment classes. We offer several different types of classes throughout the summer. We have everything from educational to recreational classes. The classes have been a HUGE hit in our community. In the pages to follow, there will be a brief course description of each class that we offer. We are sure your children will have a WONDERFUL time in these classes and it will be a FUN learning experience for them! How to Enroll in an Enrichment Class Enrollment in all enrichment classes will be limited to a manageable number; therefore, early registration is desirable. When requests for a course exceed the enrollment limitation, applicants will be placed on a waiting list in the order received or a new class will be started. In order to register for a class, you need to fill out both sides of the registration form completely. Payment for Enrichment Classes is due at registration! *Camp VE has the right to cancel any enrichment classes due to enrollment numbers. Enrichment classes are $55.00 each. There is a $5.00 discount for campers enrolled in the Camp VE daily program. ENRICHMENTS MUST BE PAID FOR UPON REGISTRATION. Tuition for enrichment classes is non-refundable. Please check your calendar before signing up your camper for these classes. Many classes fill up quickly, and we often have to turn people away. The class includes the serious academic side of learning about action lines, body proportions, comparing animal anatomy to cartoon anatomy, stereotyping characters, exaggerating features for effect, and expressing body language. Students will gain experience in drawing cartoon animals that are cute and cuddly but retain the basic traits of the real animals. There is also the glee of cartooning out a particular wicked shark, a sneaky conniving fox, a cuddly adorable dog or a fun loving and mischievous Garfield. Discover how to turn letters of the alphabet into cute animals, and combine fingerprints to create an animal. Draw animal hands doing different activities and learn about animal face expressions which show emotions like surprise and sadness. You could do worse than having a child who knows how to doodle artistically!
