Every student will get a hands on experience making their own healthy all natural guacamole! The recipe for the guacamole will be sent home Friday. Did you know that Avocados are a fruit? In fact, this fruit is a nutritional powerhouse providing numerous potential health benefits. Avocados are an excellent source of folate, potassium, vitamin K, vitamins B9 and B6, vitamins C and E. A medium avocado contains 11 grams of fiber and 4.6 grams of protein. Apart from being an excellent source of fiber and vitamins, avocados can lower cholesterol levels, reduce the risk of diabetes, promote lower body weight, prevent cancer, maintain eye health and more. Avocados act as a "nutrient booster" to help the body absorb more fat soluble nutrients from food eaten with them. The food samples will vary and just like many groceries/restaurants our ingredients will be nut free BUT may have been exposed to facilities that handle nuts and eggs so if this is a concern, we don't recommend students with these allergies to sample the food at this time.
