PROFESSIONAL STUDIES
DEGREES AT RCC
Why Should I Enroll
in Professional
Studies?
RCC’s Professional Studies programs are an
excellent choice for those who wish to enter
the workforce immediately. The AAS degree
and certificate programs are designed to
give students a broad-based knowledge of
coursework and practical training needed for
careers in fields with expanding markets.
The automotive industry has become highly
technical in order to meet governmental safety
and environmental regulations, creating a
demand for well-trained, high-level technicians.
The Automotive Technology degree trains
students on late model and future vehicle
technology and prepares them for work as
automotive technicians in privately owned
businesses and large automotive companies.
Hospitality and Tourism prepares students for
careers in the fields of culinary arts, restaurant
management, hotel management, and travel and
tourism. RCC offers hands-on culinary courses
in its state-of-the-art kitchen lab, which features
restaurant-quality equipment.
Paralegal Studies prepares students for careers in
the legal industry, working under the supervision
of attorneys. Examples of some paralegal
responsibilities include interviewing clients and
witnesses, preparing legal documents, assisting
at trials, and performing legal research. The

US Department of Labor regularly ranks the
paralegal field as one of the fastest-growing
in the country, and projects employment for
paralegals and legal assistants to grow by 28%
from 2008 to 2018.
As interest in energy efficiency for cost and
environmental effectiveness grows, many
municipalities now require commercial buildings
to conform to green construction standards.
There is a corresponding increased demand for
people with the skills to manage and maintain
these energy-efficient systems. The Green
Building Maintenance and Management degree
enables students to understand the theories
behind Leadership in Energy and Environmental
Design (LEED) certification and sustainability,
and prepares them to effectively maintain
modern commercial buildings.
