*Dahmer killed his first victim in 1978
~He had just graduated from High School and
he picked up a hitchhiker by the name of
Steven Hicks. Dahmer proceeded to rape Hicks
and then shoot him with a gun. He
dismembered the corpse and put it in a
garbage bag then hid it in his parents
backyard. In the fall following this incident, he
attended OSU.
* Dahmer was arrested in 1981 and 1986
~He was arrested for disorderly conduct
because he was touching himself
inappropriately in front of young children.

behavior constituting a minor
offense.
*In 1987, Dahmer killed his third victim
~ This killing spree lasted for 13 years. He
would lure men into his grandmother’s
basement then would give them alcohol laced
with drugs. After the victims passed out, he
would strangle them then rape the corpses. He
was also known for eating the corpses. He had
dismembered 17 men in total and eaten most of
them, if not all of them.
*Dahmer was arrested for in 1992
~He was accused of murder, mutilation, and
cannibalization.

damaging irreparably
Cannibalization: for a human to
eat human flesh
*Dahmer was sentenced 15 life terms
~The state of Wisconsin does not have the
death penalty so 15 life terms were given
instead. The defense pleaded that Dahmer was
insane but the court found him to be sane.
Some evidence was that the police found the
bags of body parts in his parents backyard, his
apartment was full of mutilated body parts, and
also his past crimes went into his sentences.
* The anomie theory
~The anomie theory fits Dahmer the best
because when he was a child, he was sexually
abused often so that was his normal life. Also,
he never had any friends as a child so when he
got older, he looked to crime to feel as if he
was a part of something bigger. He had above
average intelligence which made him have
high goals in life but because of his criminal
behavior, he could not go accomplish much.
*Dahmer the serial killer?
~It was noted that Dahmer had complemented
the classic pattern for a serial murderer.
