fasziniert mit farbenfrohen Häuserfassaden und lebendiger Atmosphäre, überrascht mit seiner spannenden Geschichte und begeistert mit überaus gastfreundlichen Einwohnern. Der multikulturelle Charakter von Litauens Hauptstadt wurde
durch die multiethnischen Bevölkerungen mit ihren diversen Religionen geprägt. Spaziergänge
durch enge, mediävale Gassen entführen den Besucher zurück ins sagenumwobene Mittelalter

Vorher locken jedoch diverse Märkte mit frischen Früchten und knackigem Gemüse sowie wohl­
schmeckenden Speisen, duftenden Blumen oder herrlich altem Trödel. Die vielen Eindrücke lassen
sich in einem der gemütlichen Cafés in der idyllischen Altstadt verarbeiten, wo sich das quirlige
Leben der Stadt beobachten lässt. Es lohnt sich sehr, die landestypischen Speisen auszuprobieren.
Die Einheimischen freuen sich, die köstliche Rote-Beete-Suppe und herzhafte Cepelinai, gefüllte
Knödel, zu servieren. Wer sich dem Rummel etwas entziehen möchte, findet im Bernardine Garden
mit seinem wunderschön angelegten Garten oder im Märchenpark eine prachtvolle Oase der Ruhe.
Auch die Umgebung von Vilnius ist überaus sehenswert: beispielsweise der Berg der Kreuze mit
seinen über 100000 Kreuzen. Oder die atemberaubende Kurische Nehrung, ein von der Unesco
geschütztes Welterbe mit seinen über 60 Meter hohen Sanddünen. Dem Besucher wird allmählich
klar: Die Zeit wird knapp. Da gibt’s nur eins: wiederkommen!

er Kosovo ist zwar schon einige Jahre lang unabhängig. Doch die Aufbruchsstimmung ist der Hauptstadt des Kosovo immer noch anzumerken: An jeder Ecke eröffnen angesagte Shops, trendige Cafés und hippe Clubs und prägen das neue Stadtbild
der grössten und wichtigsten Stadt im Kosovo. Doch obwohl sich die Stadt zur moder­
nen Metropole mausert, sind dem gastfreundlichen Einheimischen der Erhalt seiner
Traditionen und Bräuche überaus wichtig. Die Menschen sind herzliche Gastgeber
und stolz auf ihr Land und ihre Hauptstadt, die eine bewegte Geschichte vorzuweisen hat. Im Laufe
ihrer Entstehung eroberten die verschiedensten Völker das prosperierende Land im Osten Euro­pas:
Römer, Hunnen und Osmanen besetzten das Gebiet, bevor die slawischen Völker im Mittel­alter einwanderten und Land und Hauptstadt zu prägen begannen. Prishtina konnte sich trotz der diversen
Kämpfe einige Sehenswürdigkeiten und Schätze wie beispielsweise die 1470 erbaute Llap-Moschee
bewahren. Auf dem Fussmarsch durch die Stadt finden sich weitere sehenswerte Bauten und Monumente aus längst vergangener Zeit. Auch der grosse Hamam aus dem 15. Jahrhundert, der berühmte Uhrturm sowie der ethnologische Emin-Giku-Park sind der Stadt erhalten geblieben. In diesem ehemaligen Residenzgebäude aus dem 18. und 19. Jahrhundert wird heute in einer Ausstellung
