MARITIME AND PORT AUTHORITY OF SINGAPORE PORT MARINE NOTICE NO. 143 OF 2009 12 Oct 2009 Shipping Community Harbour Craft Community Pleasure Craft Community KUSU PILGRIMAGE SEASON (18 OCT 2009 TO 16 NOV 2009) Applicable to: Mariners operating to and from Marina South Pier, in the vicinity of East Keppel Fairway and Kusu Island (Pulau Tembakul) 1 The 2009 Kusu Pilgrimage season will commence on 18 Oct 09 and end on 16 Nov 09. During this period, many ferries and harbour craft carrying passengers would cross the East Keppel Fairway when plying between the Marina South Pier and Kusu Island (Pulau Tembakul). The recommended routes for these craft are shown in Appendix 1. Mariners shall keep a proper lookout for these craft and navigate with extra caution when in the vicinity of the recommended routes. 2 The traffic movement within Marina South Pier has been divided in two routes. The ferries and bumboats shall use the recommended routes as indicated by the chartlet in Appendix 2. 3. Masters of harbour craft shall proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution when approaching Marina South Pier and Kusu Island jetties. 4 The following buoys will be laid on 30 Sep 09 and will be removed on 17 Nov 09: Type of Buoy (a) Yellow polyethylene buoy WGS 84 Datum Latitude (N) Longitude (E) 01° 13.526’ 103° 51.427’ (b) Red can buoy Fl (2) R10s. 01° 13.236’ 103° 51.697’ (c) Yellow polyethylene buoy 01° 13.376’ 103° 51.457’ (d) Yellow polyethylene buoy 01°13.406’ 103° 51.437’ Purpose/ Name Channel buoy/ “Buoy 1” Port hand buoy/ “Buoy 2” Fl (2) R 10s For mooring of craft (Off Pulau Sakijang)/ “Buoy 3” For mooring of craft (Off Pulau Sakijang) “Buoy 4” 5 All harbour craft, except ferries operated by Singapore Island Cruise and Ferries Pte Ltd, plying to and from Kusu Island (Pulau Tembakul) shall: (a) keep within the channel demarcated by the Kusu Beacon (Fl R 2.5s) and the yellow polyethylene channel buoy in position Lat 01° 13'.526N Long 103° 51'.427E (Appendix 3) when approaching and leaving Kusu Jetty; (b) only use the harbour craft jetty at Kusu Island (Pulau Tembakul) for the purpose of embarking and disembarking passengers. This harbour craft jetty is located about 65 metres northwest of the Main Passenger jetty. All these harbour craft must not proceed beyond 10 metres southeast of their allocated jetty. To avoid traffic congestion in the vicinity, no harbour craft shall wait at the entrance of the channel or at the jetty. 6 The two yellow polyethylene mooring buoys located off Pulau Sakijang Pelepah, are meant for harbour craft to moor temporarily while awaiting passengers (Appendix 3).
