Endlich ein Boardsport, der uns Windund Kitesurfer von der Abhängigkeit
des Windes befreit und uns doch aufs
Wasser bringt. Für viele von uns ist es
die lang gesuchte Alternative an windlosen Tagen. Für viele, die nicht Windsurfen oder Kitesurfen, wird es mit Sicherheit nicht nur eine Alternative sein
sondern weitaus mehr. Denn SUP hat
viele Gesichter.
Natürlich steht Wind- und Kitesurfen
weiterhin in unserem Focus. Mit unserem Center am Risco del Paso und unserem zweiten Center an der Costa Calma auf Fuerteventura haben wir unser

2014 is the Year of Stand Up Paddling
for Club Mistral. At last, a board sport
that frees all of us windsurfers and kitesurfers from our dependence on the
wind, yet still allows us to get out on
the water. For many of us, this is the
long-awaited alternative for windless
days. Plus there will be many who neither windsurf nor kitesurf, for whom
SUP will certainly not be an alternative, but the real deal and more. SUP has
many aspects.
Naturally, windsurfing and kitesurfing
are still a focus. On Fuerteventura, our
Center at Risco del Paso and the second
station on Costa Calma means that we

Fuerteventura. Seit April 2013 ist der Club
Mistral im Süden der zweitgrößten Kanareninsel
präsent. Das neue Club Mistral Center am
Strand von Risco del Paso ist in kürzester
Zeit vom Geheimtipp zu einem der wichtigsten Anlaufpunkte für alle Windsurfer und
Kitesurf-Einsteiger im Süden der Insel avanciert. Natürlich ist der Spot an der großen
Düne seit Jahren für viele Windsurfer der
Favorit unter den Windsurfspots im Süden
von Fuerteventura. Doch wir freuen uns, den
beliebten Surfspot mit einer professionellen
Wind- und Kitesurfstation und gewohntem
Club Mistral Service bereichern zu können.
Als perfekte Ergänzung und Alternative steht
Windsurfern und Club Mistral Gästen seit Juli
2013 ein zweites Center direkt am Strand von
Costa Calma zur Verfügung.
For many windsurfers and kitesurfers, this is
the benchmark for all the other Canary Islands
– Fuerteventura. Since April 2013 Club Mistral
has been active in the south of this, the second
largest of the Canary Islands. The new Club
Mistral on the beach at Risco del Paso has, in
an amazingly short time, moved from being an
insider tip to one of the most important launch
pads for entry level kiters and windsurfers in
the south of the island. This spot, with its huge
dunes, has been a favourite with many windsurfers over the years, so we are very pleased
to be able to extend the attraction of this wellloved place with a professional windsurfing and
kitesurfing centre that brings the usual Club
Mistral service to its shores. Further, as a perfect alternative for windsurfers and other Club
Mistral guests, a second and complementary
Club Mistral Centre opened right on the beach
at Costa Calma a few months later in July 2013.

Der feine Sandstrand am Risco del Paso ist von
beeindruckender Weitläufigkeit. Aber nicht nur
die Größe des Strandes sondern vor allem die verschiedenen Gesichter, die dieser Spot hat, machen
ihn zu einem Windsurfplatz der Extraklasse. Die
verschiedenen Facetten des Windsurfens am
Risco del Paso reichen von einer Flachwasserpiste
par excellence bis hin zu einem kleinen, aber feinen Wellenspot oberhalb des Centers. Zudem entsteht direkt vor Club Mistral gezeitenabhängig ca.
vierzehn Tage im Monat ein großer Stehbereich,
den sowohl Aufsteiger bei Wasserstart und Halse,
als auch Windsurfeinsteiger zu schätzen wissen.
Letztere kommen aber immer in den Genuss von
perfekten und sicheren Bedingungen, da durch
die Flut täglich kleine Stehbereiche entstehen.
Alle Windsurfenthusiasten, die Abwechslung zum
Freeriden und Freestylen suchen, finden in Luv
der Bucht eine ganz beachtliche Welle. Sowohl
Wellen-Novizen als auch Wellen-Profis können
sich hier entspannt austoben. Die Wellen erreichen hier selten mehr als eine Höhe von knapp
zwei Metern und brechen sanft auf strandnahen
Sandbänken. Zu guter Letzt ist der Strandabschnitt
am Risco del Paso auch noch besonders vom Wind
verwöhnt, der hier schräg ablandig bis ablandig
von links bläst. Nicht selten erreicht der Wind im
Frühjahr und Sommer über sechs Windstärken.
Generell kann man von Ostern bis Herbst mit
guten bis sehr guten Windverhältnissen rechnen.
Surferherz, was willst du mehr?
The beach of fine sand at Risco del Paso is impressive simply from its size. Yet it is not only the size
that matters, it is the multifaceted aspect of the
place that has made it an extra-special windsurfing spot. Windsurfing at Risco del Paso ranges
from a flat water piste par excellence to a small
but big-hearted wave spot just above the surf
Center. Further, for about fourteen days a month
and depending on the tide, a large up-to-chest
deep area forms right in front of our Center, which
is favoured by intermediates perfecting their gybes
and water-starts, and also by entry-level windsurfers making their first moves. This last group can
always be sure of finding safe, perfect conditions
as small standing areas are always there at high
tide. Finally, all windsurfing enthusiasts looking for
something different to free-riding or freestyling,
can get into the very reasonably sized waves which
are formed at the wind-ward part of the bay. Wave
riding novices as well as experts can have a great
time here, safe in the knowledge that the waves
seldom reach more than two metres in height and
break softly on sand-banks close to the beach. All
of this windsurfing potential at Risco del Paso is
given energy through the wind that blows from the
left either completely offshore or cross off, particularly in Spring and Summer when it can reach
up to Bft 6. For the rest of the year, from Easter to
the Autumn you can reckon with very good wind
conditions. What more could a windsurfer ask for?

FUERTEVENTURA
Für Kitesurf-Einsteiger bieten sich am Risco del
Paso ebenfalls brillante Bedingungen. Unsere VDWS
und IKO zertifizierten Lehrer ermöglichen dir einen
sicheren und professionellen Einstieg in diese faszinierende Sportart. Die Kiteschulung findet entweder im gezeitenabhängigen Stehbereich oder am
offenen Meer statt. Generell verlagern wir unsere
Kiteschulung ca. 150 bis 300 Meter oberhalb des Club
Mistral Centers, da dort der schräg ablandige Wind
konstanter ist und Wind- und Kitesurfer weitestgehend voneinander getrennt sind. Die Art der Kurse
ist aufgrund von Erfahrungen und Revierbedingungen
auf drei Varianten beschränkt, um ein höchstmögliches Maß an Professionalität und Qualität zu erzielen.
Neben Privatunterricht und Gruppenkursen (mit max.
4 Schülern pro Lehrer) empfehlen wir unseren Gästen
und Kiteschülern verstärkt den semiprivaten Kitekurs.
Mit 2 Schülern pro Lehrer erfährt man hier eine ideale
und effektive Lernkurve zu einem akzeptablen Preis.

Jeder Schüler hat zudem während der Wassereinheiten
seinen eigenen Kite. Zur Sicherheit der Schüler steht
der Lehrer mit dem Sicherheitsteam in Funkkontakt,
(selbstverständlich bei allen Kitesurfkursen), um die
Schüler gegebenenfalls mit dem Jetski an Land zurück
zu holen. Aufgrund der hohen Anzahl an Kiteschülern
und Windsurfern in Risco del Paso wird es auch für
2014 am Club Mistral Center keinen Kiteverleih geben.
Es ist uns sehr daran gelegen, die Qualität der Kurse
auf hohem Niveau zu halten und die Windsurfzone in
ihrer jetzigen Form zu bewahren.
Kitesurfers will find brilliant conditions as well at Risco
del Paso. Our VDWS and IKO certified instructors will
help you get into this amazing sport safely and professionally. The kite instruction takes place either in the
standing area – which is dependent on the tides – or
on the ocean. Usually we set up the kite training 150
to 300 metres above the Club Mistral Centre, due to
the facts that the cross-offshore wind is at its most
constant there and because kiters and windsurfers

are at their most distant from each other. The type
of course has been reduced here to three variations
based on our experience and on the conditions, in
order for us to achieve the highest standard of professionalism and quality. Alongside private courses and
group lessons with a maximum of 4 kite students, we
strongly recommend our semi-private kite course to
our guests and kite students. A ratio of two students
to one instructor gives an ideal and effective learning
curve at an acceptable price. Each student has his /
her own kite for the on-the-water activity. For added
safety, the instructor is in radio contact with the safety
team so that, if necessary, a jetski can be used to bring
the student back to dry land, of course in all kitesurf
courses.
Due to the high numbers of kite students and windsurfers in Risco del Paso there will again be no rental
kite equipment available in 2014. It is very important
for us to maintain the quality of the courses at a very
high level and to ensure that the windsurfing zone is
kept in its current state.

Fuerteventura, wie auch die anderen kanarischen Inseln, ist ein äußerst beliebtes Reiseziel und für alle
Mitteleuropäer ein schöner Platz zum Überwintern.
Dies verwundert kaum, denn mit einer durchschnittlichen Jahrestemperatur zwischen 18 und 25 °C weist
die Insel das ganze Jahr über ein angenehmes Klima
auf. In Fuerteventura genießt man mehr als 3000
Sonnenstunden im Jahr und auch im Winter sinkt die
Tagestemperatur selten unter 18 °C.
ANREISE
Seit Juli 2013 hat nun auch das zweite Club Mistral Center an der
Costa Calma seine Pforten geöffnet. Zugegebenermaßen kann
man das Center noch als Provisorium bezeichnen. Doch wir sind
guter Dinge, spätestens zu den Osterferien ein Pendant zu unserer
Präsenz am Risco del Paso zu präsentieren. Dieser Spot verdient
sicherlich eine gleichwertige Windsurfstation. Viele Windsurfer
schätzen die kurzen Wege zwischen Hotel und Surfstation. Oft
sind es nur wenige Meter, wie zum Beispiel vom SBH Hotel Monica
Beach oder dem SBH Costa Calma Palace, zwischen deinem komfortablem Bett und Action auf dem Brett. Das ist in der Tat einmalig
auf Fuerteventura.
In July 2013 a second Club Mistral Center on Costa Calma opened
its doors, although at the time of writing this is still only provisional. However, at the latest by Easter 2014, we shall be able to
present a sister station to the one we have at Risco del Paso, as,
for sure, this spot needs a proper and complementary Center.
Many windsurfers really like the short distance between hotel and
windsurfing centre; in some cases it will only be a few metres to
bridge the gap between the comfort of your hotel room and the
excitement of your board. This is best experienced at the SBH Hotel
Monica Beach or the SBH Costa Calma Palace: they are as a result
unique on Fuerteventura.
Es gibt fast täglich Flüge von allen Deutschen Flughäfen. Aus Deutschland kommend landet man nach ca.
4-5 Flugstunden am einzigen internationalen Flughafen auf Fuerteventura. Von hier aus ist es noch eine
Stunde Fahrt bis zu den Hotels in Costa Calma. Für
diejenigen, die eine Pauschalreise bei uns buchen,
wartet der Reisebus bereits für den Transfer. Wer
einen Mietwagen gebucht hat, nimmt diesen gleich
am Flughafen entgegen. Wir senden euch mit den
Reiseunterlagen eine genaue Wegbeschreibung nach
Costa Calma bzw. zu unserem Club Mistral Center
Risco del Paso.

CLUB MISTRAL RISCO DEL PASO
Die Costa Calma ist touristisch vielseitig erschlossen.
Nette Cafes, Restaurants und Bars sowie Boutiquen
und Geschäfte laden sowohl am Tage als auch am
Abend zum Besuch ein. Im El Jardin kann man sehr
gut essen oder abends noch etwas trinken gehen hier organisieren wir auch einmal in der Woche unser
Club Mistral BBQ.
WAS SONST SO GEHT
Das Club Mistral Center am Risco del Paso befindet sich linker
Hand vom Parkplatz. Windsurfer finden hier ab März 2014 das
Neueste, was Fanatic und North Sails für das Jahr 2014 zu bieten
haben. Kitesurfschüler werden von uns auf aktuellem Material
des Marktführers North Kiteboarding geschult. Für die Pausen
stehen Beachchairs und Sitzsäcke zur Verfügung. Schattenplätze
sind leider noch Mangelware. Wir arbeiten aber mit Hochdruck
an Lösungen. Für das leibliche Wohl ist die Chiringuito direkt
neben dem Center erste Wahl.

park. From March 2014, windsurfers will find the newest kit from
both Fanatic and North Sails, and kite-surf students can expect to
be trained on the most up to date material available from market
leaders North Kiteboarding. For your down-time, beach chairs
and bean-bags are readily available, but places in the shade are
still some way down the line: we are working on this as a priority.
For refreshments, the Chiringuito right next to the Center is the
place of choice.

ARRIVAL
There are pretty much daily flights from all (German) airports. After a four to five
hour flight from Germany you will land at the only international airport on Fuerteventura and from there it is another hour’s ride to the hotels in Costa Calma. For
those who have booked a package with us, then the bus will be waiting for you to
make your transfer.
FOOD & DRINK
Costa Calma has been opened up in a very multi-faceted way. Nice cafes, restaurants and bars as well as boutiques and other shops are open during the day and
in the evening to tempt you. In the El Jardin you can dine very well, or simply pop
in for a drink in the evening, and it is here that we organise our Club Mistral BBQ
once in the week.
MUST SEE & MUST DO
• Go to the bay at Sotovento – almost four kilometers of sand – which is very
inviting for extended and relaxing beach walks.
• Visit La Atalayita village – a site of archeological importance, where the original settlement goes back to the time of the first inhabitants, the Mahos.
• Mirador Morro Velosa is reckoned to be the most beautiful viewpoint on Fuerteventura. The panorama from a height of 650 metres is unique, and you can
see right to the north of the island.
• Snorkel and catamaran tours.
• Explore the island by quad-bike or mountain bike.
• Check out the neighbouring islands of Gran Canaria or Lanzarote.
• Drive round to La Pared, only a few minutes away, a much rawer stretch of
coast directly opposite and famous for its wave spot.
• Experience the Oasis Park in La Lajita: its 28.000 types of cacti set in 160.000
m² makes it the largest collection of cacti in Europe, and in the 800.000 m²
natural park there are 250 varieties of animals.

Mauritius – immer wieder Mauritius könnte man meinen. In
der Tat dreht sich bei Club Mistral viel um diese Destination.
Das ist aber auch kein Wunder, wenn man unter den Gästen
die Begeisterung für diesen Spot spürt. Natürlich fasziniert
viele Kite- und Windsurfer die Möglichkeit, in der Welle
zu surfen. Little Reef und auch Manawa bieten für viele
gute Windsurfer und Kiter beherrschbare Wellen. Aber der
eigentliche Vorteil dieses wunderschönen Spots liegt darin,
dass für jeden Anspruch und jedes Level auf knapp einem
Kilometer Strandlänge alles geboten ist, wovon man als Kiteund Windsurfer nur träumen kann. Das gilt übrigens auch
für die Qualität der Hotels rund um Le Morne. Das ideale
Allroundrevier für Freerider und Freestyler liegt direkt vor
dem Club Mistral Center. Die großzügige und fast überall
stehtiefe Lagune, die von Riffen eingekesselt ist, ist somit
eine sichere Flachwasserpiste für Jedermann. Die meisten
Windsurfer halten sich im Luv-Bereich der Lagune auf, wohingegen die Kitesurfer eher Richtung Lee ihr Glück suchen.
Mauritius – oh, no, not Mauritius again?! In point of fact Club
Mistral is doing quite a lot in this destination, which is understandable when you feel the enthusiasm that our guests have
for this location. Many kite- and windsurfers are very excited
about surfing in the waves, and Little Reef and even Manawa
have rideable waves for many good windsurfers and kiters.
However, the actual advantage of this fabulous place lies
in the fact that every wish and every level of ability can be
covered in less than a kilometer of beach: such stuff that only
kiters and windsurfers can dream on! This also extends to the
quality of the hotels around Le Morne. The best allround spot
for freeriders and freestylers is right in front of the Center, in
a wonderful lagoon that is shallow enough to stand in almost
throughout and which is also a secure, flat sailing area for
everyone, due to the protective reefs that border it. Most
windsurfers sail in the windward part of the lagoon, and the
kiters enjoy themselves mainly down-wind.

Mit dem Spot auf Mauritius beantwortet sich für viele
wellensüchtige Wind- und Kitesurfer nicht nur die Frage
nach dem nächsten Urlaubsziel. Nein, es löst für viele
Wellenfreaks das Problem, wenn man mit Partner oder
Freunden unterwegs ist, die in einem reinen Wellenrevier
überfordert wären, oder gar erst das Wind- oder Kitesurfen
lernen wollten. Da ist und bleibt Mauritius als Ziel unschlagbar. Mit Little Reef und Manawa wird dieser Spot fast jedem
Anspruch an guten bis sehr guten Wellen gerecht. Auch
Welleneinsteiger können mit kleinen Schritten am Little
Reef auf den Wellengeschmack kommen. An sehr “großen
Tagen“, wenn an den Außenriffen aufgrund der Wellenhöhe
nichts mehr geht, können selbst in der Lagune bei Flut kleine,
aber feine Wellen entstehen, die einen auf den Geschmack
bringen. Und so ganz nebenbei, nur wenige hundert Meter
weiter spielen sich ganz andere Szenen ab. Freunde, Partner
oder Geschwister lernen bei flachem Wasser und im großen
Stehbereich das Kite- oder Windsurfen. Na, wenn das nicht
Gründe genug für Mauritius sind?

Not only does Mauritus answer the question for wave junkies
about where their next holiday destination is going to be,
but it also answers the question that troubles many waveriders, which is the one about what their partner or friends
are going to manage, when they rock up to a pure wave spot,
and maybe have not yet even learnt the basics! In both these
respects, Mauritius is unbeatable. Little Reef and Manawa
hit the spot as far as the demand for good to very good
waves are concerned, and even entry level wave riders can
get a taste for the waves in incremental stages at Little Reef.
On really big days, when the outer reefs are unrideable due
to the size of the waves, then high tide can bring some nice,
small waves into the lagoon which are great to play on. So, in
the space of a few hundred metres, a number of completely
different scenarios play out, allowing both wave-riding and
the chance for friends, partners or family members to learn
kitesurfing or windsurfng in shallow, flat water. Well, is that
not a good enough reason to choose Mauritius?

Sport, der für sich steht. Auch für Paddler ist unser Spot in

bieten wir ein exzellentes Schulungsprogramm an.
Nowadays, SUP is no longer just an alternative for windsurfers and kitesurfers on windless days, but is a sport in its
own right. Our spot at Le Morne is a great place for paddlers, too, especially for SUP wave-riders at entry level, as we
have an excellent training programme.

dieser Platz in der Regel dir ganz alleine. Platz, soweit
das Auge reicht. Hier erlebst du den Kitekurs deines
Lebens. Kein anderes Konzept garantiert dir schnelleren Lernerfolg in diesem Revier, als mit der Schulung
von Club Mistral Prestige. In den Pausen ist für dein
leibliches Wohl und kühle Getränke gesorgt. Denn

Good, better, the best, Club Mistral Prestige. You might think that
those who are responsible for Club Mistral have taken leave of
their senses. In general we tend towards modesty but in the case
of our kite-teaching product at the St. Regis in Le Morne, we really
do have something quite special. Almost every good kitesurfing
school now has private or semi-private courses. We do, too. As
a matter of fact, it is standard at the Club Mistral Prestige. First
of all, we take you in our boat to a training area that is extra special - in less than 15 minutes you will find yourself in an ocean of
turquoise, waist-deep water. The icing on this cake is that you will
probably be the only one there. Space for you as far as the eye
can see. You will experience the kite-course of your life. No other
location can guarantee you a faster learning curve than this one.
And when you need a short rest, there is always a little something
and cool drinks to keep you going: the kitchen at St. Regis packs
our cool-box on board with delicious surprises. As part of your
course, you will, if you wish, be filmed the whole time on a GoPro
camera. The film can then be used first to analyse your moves
and help towards improving your performance, and then it could
be cut into a film that shows your success on the water, to be
premiered at the St. Regis cinema.

a rejuvenating holiday. Children are very welcome here and there is plenty of space in the

Mauritius mal anders? Mit unserem neuen Club Mistral Kitesurfcenter im Norden der Insel, genauer gesagt in Anse La Raie, wird dies
ab Frühjahr 2014 möglich sein. Fast um den gesamten Nordosten von Mauritius zieht sich ein Riffgürtel, der bis zu knapp 2,5 Kilometer
vor der Küste liegt. Dadurch entsteht eine weitläufige Lagune, die zwar nicht stehtief ist, aber eine riesige und sichere FlachwasserSpielwiese bildet. Zudem bläst der beständige Wind in einem idealen Winkel fast immer sideshore zur Küste. Da die Strandabschnitte
im Norden der Insel eher klein und selten sind, schulen wir die Kitekursteilnehmer entweder in der 300 Meter breiten, meist stehtiefen
und sandigen Bucht von Anse la Raie oder vom Boot aus in der Lagune. Die Bucht liegt sowohl vom Blumarine Hotel, in dem sich unser
Center befindet, als auch vom Paradise Cove Hotel kaum mehr als 5 Minuten zu Fuß entfernt. Gäste, die im neuen Zilwa Hotel wohnen,
können mit einem Bootshuttle zum Club Mistral Center gebracht werden.
Something a bit different on Mauritius? When our new Club Mistral Kitecenter comes on line in the Spring 2014 at Anse La Raie in the
north of the island then this different something will be possible. A reef, which in part lies up to 2.5 kilometres from the shoreline,
almost completely girds the north east of the island. This makes for a broad lagoon, which, whilst not shallow enough to stand in, gives
a huge, safe, flat water playground. In addition, the constant wind blows at an ideal angle almost always sideshore to the coast. Due
to the fact that the beaches on the north of the island are both small and not very common, the kitesurf lessons take place in the 300
metres wide and sandy bay of Anse la Raie or from the boat inside the lagoon. This bay is only 5 minutes on foot from the Blumarine
Hotel, which is where our Center is based, and it is the same distance from the Paradise Cove Hotel. Guests staying in the new Zilwa
Hotel can take the boat-shuttle to the Club Mistral Center.

Kitesurfers who are renting or storing their material with us also start from Anse la Raie Bay. For launching and landing we have team
members ready in the bay. A highlight for Club Mistral guests who are already able to kitesurf is the downwinder with safety boat which
we organise regularly. This is also on offer on those windless days with our SUP boards. Night owls will also enjoy a trip to Grand Bay,
which in the evening pulsates to a Mauritain groove in its bars and discotheques.

Hotel Zilwa Attitude

Opened in October 2013, this resort by the hotel group “Attitude”

CABARETE - DIE WINDIGE
windsurfen / kitesurfen / wellenreiten / sup
Mitten in Cabarete liegt unser Club Mistral Center zentral am Strand. Gleich neben dem Carib Windsurf
Shop und der EZE Bar. Direkt vor dem Center ist es optimal zum Windsurfen, wenig Shorebreak und nur die
ersten paar Meter eine kleine Windabdeckung. Das SUP zu nutzen bietet sich am Vormittag an, bevor der
Wind um ca. 13 Uhr einsetzt. Kitesurfen wird in Cabarete ganz groß geschrieben und es ist nach wie vor ein
einmaliger Spot; aufgrund der Wellen und dem leichten Shorebreak ist es manchmal etwas anspruchsvoll,
aber da der Wind meist schräg-auflandig weht, ist es ein sehr sicheres Revier. Oli bringt euch mit seinem
Moped innerhalb der Bucht direkt dorthin, wo die Kitesurf-Bedingungen für euch am besten sind. Also
keine Ausrede mehr!

Es gibt mehrmals wöchentlich Charterflüge nach Puerto Plata: Air Berlin fliegt einmal die Woche direkt ab
München und Condor zweimal die Woche direkt ab Frankfurt. Es gibt zahlreiche Zubringer von verschieden
en deutschen und österreichischen Flughäfen. Vom Flughafen Puerto Plata bis nach Cabarete sind es nur
30 Minuten Autofahrt.

Right in the centre of Cabarete and central on the beach is our Club Mistral Center. It is just next to the Carib
Windsurf Shop and the EZE bar. The best place to windsurf is right in front of the Center as here there is
virtually no shorebreak and the wind-shadow only extends for a few metres. It is best to use a SUP before
the wind kicks in at around 1 o’clock. Kitesurfing is big in Cabarete which is still recognised as a unique spot;
due to the waves and the light shore-break it can be somewhat demanding, but, as the wind is mostly cross
on it is a very safe place. Oli will take you with his moped to exactly the right place for you in the bay for
your kitesurfing. So, no more excuses!

zu anderen Urlaubsorten in der Dominikanischen Republik Unterkünfte für Individualisten. Die Bucht gehört zu den 5 besten Windsurf- und Kitesurfrevieren der
Welt, wobei der östliche Teil für Windsurfer reserviert ist, der westliche Teil für
die Kitesurfer. Die Windsurfer sind somit näher an ihrem Windsurfspot, wenn sie
am östlichen Ende der Bucht von Cabarete wohnen. Eine beliebte Unterkunft ist

Caberete is made up from a mixture of nicely situated hotels and many bars and
restaurants, which have grown up along the main thoroughfare, and yet which
also offer many beach-side terraces. In comparison with other holiday destinations in the Domenican Republic, Cabarete is filled with accommodation for real
individualists. Cabarete is one of the five best windsurfing and kitesurfing places
in the world: Cabarete Bay is divided into two – the easterly part is for windsurfers
and kiters have the west. Windsurfers are closest to their windsurfing spot when
they stay on the eastern end of Cabarete Bay. One of their favourite haunts is the
Hotel Velero Beach, an holiday oasis on the beach with 22 suites and a pool in a
garden that opens out onto the beach. Similarly for those seeking peace and quiet
we can recommend the well appointed El Magnifico set of apartments. Each of
the roomy apartments in El Magnifico is individually styled in a very artistic way.

and revellers are ready for dancing and music it will be close to midnight, and the nightlife throbs to the insistent and foot-tappping

Eine rasante Entwicklung kann man in den letzten Jahren an unserem Reiseziel ALACATI erkennen: waren vor Jahren
nur wenige Hotels und Pensionen im Ort Alacati und rund um unser Club Mistral Center vorhanden, so sind jetzt
vor allem kleine nette Boutique Hotels und Pensionen aus dem Boden geschossen. In wenigen Gehminuten vom
Club Mistral Center erreicht man ein neues tolles 5-Sterne-Hotel – das Hotel Solto; oder auch die kleine gemütliche
Pension Yucca. Auf dem Weg zwischen dem Ort Alacati und unserem Club Mistral Center entstand eine komplett
neue Marina mit Luxushäusern inkl. eigenen Bootsanlegern… eine andere – neue – Welt! Ein angenehmer Vorteil dieser Entwicklung: Es gibt zahlreiche Bars, Restaurants und eine ideale Infrastruktur, wovon nicht zuletzt die gut ausgebauten und frisch geteerten Straßen zeugen. There has been an amazing development over the past years at our destination of ALACATI. Not so long ago, there
were only a few hotels and guest houses in Alacati itself and around our Club Mistral Center yet now, nice, small
boutique hotels and guest houses have shot out of the ground. On the road from downtown Alacati to our Center
a completely new yacht marina has been built, featuring luxury dwellings replete with their own jetties: a new and
different world. One very pleasant advantage of this development is that there are now not only numerous bars and
restaurants but the whole infrastructure has improved, a fact underlined by the well-made, freshly metalled (tarred)
roads. In the high season, the Dolmus (public mini-bus) runs every half an hour between the town and the windsurfing spot. At the weekends, Alacati is a particularly favoured haunt of the Turkish High-Society, with the result that it
now has the soubriquet “Turkey’s St. Tropez.”

bietet ausreichend Gelegenheit, diese neue Sportart zu
erproben. Es ist eine faszinierende Möglichkeit, die tolle
Landschaft vom Wasser aus zu genießen und die nahe gelegenen, einsamen Buchten zu erkunden.

Das Club Mistral Center Alacati wurde 2012 - unter dem
engagierten Einsatz von unserem Center Manager Resit und
seinem Team - neu gestaltet und renoviert. Ein neues Dach,

den Aufenthalt angenehm. Die Chill-out Ecke ist mit den
bequemen Sitzsäcken und dem kostenlosen WiFi ein zusätzliches Plus.
Die Bar von Murat gleich neben dem Club Mistral ist der
optimale Ort zur Mittagspause oder den genialen Surftag
mit einem Sundowner abzuschließen. Das Essen ist äußerst
schmackhaft und vielseitig – sehr zu empfehlen!
Wie bereits erwähnt hat sich in den letzten Jahren viel getan.
Auch im Ort Alacati gibt es nun eine große Auswahl an Bars
und Restaurants. Hier kommt garantiert keine Langeweile auf.
An windarmen Tagen gibt es tolle Möglichkeiten für Ausflüge
in die Umgebung. Auf keinen Fall darf man einen echten
türkischen Bazar verpassen. Schmuck, Mode, Handtaschen,
weitere Accessoires und Souvenirs gibt es in Cesme und den
umliegenden Städten. Ein Traum, vor allem für unsere weiblichen Gäste…

fun is guaranteed. Whether entry-level, intermediate or
a real pro, your success on a windsurfing board is assured. As a result of the shape of the bay itself and the
large standing area, entry-level sailors feel very safe and
can concentrate fully on their skills and the job in hand.
Also for kids the windsurf conditions are great. Even speed
and maneuver freaks find the conditions further out very
much to their taste with flat water and constant side-shore
wind. The Centre has – as is usual – the newest material, and
also has up-to-the minute equipment for Stand Up Paddling
enthusiasts. On those days without wind, the sea is quiet and
flat, so perfect for trying out this new sport. One of the many
great things to do is to enjoy the beautiful landscape from a
different perspective, as well as to explore the other quiet
bays nearby.

As mentioned earlier, a lot has changed in the past few years.
In Alacati itself, there is now a large choice of bars and restaurants, so you won’t be bored. On windless days there are
splendid trips to be made in the area, and you should never
give up the chance to visit a real Turkish bazaar. Jewellery,
fashion, handbags and other accessories and souvenirs can
be found in Cesme and other towns around. This is like a
dream come true, especially for our female guests…

Hinkommen
Um nach Alacati zu gelangen, fliegt man nach
Izmir. Es gibt zahlreiche direkte Verbindungen
ab Deutschland z.B. SunExpress ab vielen
großen deutschen Flughäfen oder Lufthansa
ab München (gerne suchen wir für euch passende Zubringer). Die Flugzeit beträgt ca. 2
½ Stunden. Der Transfer vom Flughafen nach
Alacati dauert etwa eine Stunde.
Unterkünfte
Die beliebtesten Unterkünfte bei unseren
Gästen sind die Hotels Alkoclar und Solto. Von
hier läuft man nur wenige Minuten zu unserem
Club Mistral Center Alacati. Beide Hotels liegen direkt am Strand und bieten tolle Zimmer
mit Meerblick. Auch in Fußnähe befindet sich
die mit wenigen Zimmern einfache und persönliche Pension Yucca. Hinter dem Gebäude
befindet sich ein netter Garten mit Bar und
Sonnenliegen. Im Ort Alacati selbst befinden
sich die Unterkünfte Villa Fora und das Hotel
Zeytin. Beide Hotels bieten einen persönlichen
Service und sind im klassischen Steinbaustil
erbaut, mit Garten inkl. Swimmingpools.
Um zum Center zu gelangen, kann man in
der Hochsaison den „Dolmus“ (öffentlicher
Kleinbus) nutzen. Das beliebte Surferhotel Ileri
befindet sich in Ilica. Zum Club Mistral Center
sind es gut 8 km, um den täglichen Shuttle

ACCOMMODATION
The favourite accommodation with our guests by far: the Hotels Alkoclar and Solto as they are only a few minutes walk from our Club Mistral
Center. Both hotels are right on the beach and have lovely sea views. Also in walking distance, is the simple yet friendly Pension Yucca: this
has only a few rooms, and to the rear of the building is a nice garden with a bar and sun beds. In Alacati itself are the Villa Fora and Hotel
Zeytin. Both hotels have a very personal service and are built in a classic way with garden and pools. To get from them to the Club Mistral
Center in the high-season you can catch the „Dolmus” (public mini-bus). The much loved surf-hotel Ileri is based in Ilica, about 8 km from the
Club Mistral Center, and the owner Murat, takes personal control of the daily shuttle.
FOOD & DRINK
If you are staying in the Hotels Alkoclar or Solto then you will really enjoy the full- or half board. During the day, the bar next to our Center
always has a selection of small snacks available to still those hunger pangs, the lunch cuisine is excellent plus they always have cold drinks. In
the Yucca, Villa Fora, Hotel Zeytin and Ileri, breakfast is included. In the evening there are plenty of places in Alacati, Cesme, Ilica and in the
surrounding area to sample International or Turkish dishes: simply ask our team at the Center for their recommendations.

So oder so ähnlich klangen die Optionen, die zur Wahl standen.
Worum ging es, wird sich wohl jeder fragen. Es ging um die Frage,
ob der Club Mistral in Zukunft der rasant wachsenden Sportart
SUP uneingeschränktes Engagement widmen wird. Die Antwort
war ein eindeutiges „Ganz“. Das war auch nicht verwunderlich,
waren doch alle passionierten Paddler an der Abstimmung beteiligt. Die Alternative wäre natürlich nicht wirklich „gar nicht“ gewesen. Liegen doch mehr als 170 SUP Boards an den Club Mistral
Centern für die Gäste bereit. Und das zu Recht – an windlosen
Tagen sind diese sehr begehrt! Aber genau darum ging es. Ist SUP
nur eine Alternative zum Kite- oder Windsurfen an windlosen
Tagen? Oder wird SUP ein eigenständiges Produkt, das seine eigene Fangemeinde hat, abseits der Kiter und Surfer? Letzteres hat
sich bei uns durchgesetzt. Für 2014 haben wir uns deshalb viel zum
Thema SUP einfallen lassen. Mit einem Club Mistral SUP Center in
Oberbayern und einem Club Mistral SUP Center in Marbella haben
wir zudem neue Weichen gestellt.

“All or nothing!” These were the options that we had to
choose from, and the question was about whether Club
Mistral would give its full engagement to the incredibly
fast growing sport of SUP. The answer was a resounding
“All!” which was not surprising given that all those who
took part in the decision are passionate about SUP.
Already, we have more than 170 boards on hand at Club
Mistral centres for our guests, which makes sense as,
on windless days, these boards are in full use. There is
another question: is SUP simply an alternative to kiting
or windsurfing on windless days, or is SUP a stand-alone
product with its own group of enthusiasts, separate
from kiters and windsurfers? We feel that it is the latter,
so for 2014 we have really taken the subject of SUP on
board, and set the stage with a Club Mistral SUP Center
in Bavaria, Germany and a Club Mistral SUP Center in
Marbella, Spain.

Wir sind ganz bestimmt nicht die Ersten, die auf die Idee gekommen sind, dass das SUP Board ein ideales Fitnessgerät ist. Nein, das
können sich zu Recht andere auf die Fahne schreiben. Aber für uns
haben die Fitnessprogramme, die auf dem Markt angeboten werden
noch Potential nach oben. Vor allem die Art und Weise wie die Kurse
durchgeführt werden. Das war Ansporn genug für uns, es besser zu
machen. Intensive Arbeitswochen liegen hinter uns und mit ein wenig
Stolz blicken wir jetzt auf das Ergebnis: Zwei SUP FITNESS Plattformen
und ein SUP FITNESS Programm, bestehend aus vier verschiedenen
Programmeinheiten, setzen neue Akzente im Bereich SUP FITNESS.
We are certainly not the first to have had the idea that a SUP board is
an ideal piece of fitness equipment. No, others can take the laurels for
that. Yet for us, the fitness programmes coming into the market were
not really properly thought through, particularly in the way the courses
were delivered. This was reason enough for us to try to do it better.
Many weeks of intensive work now lie behind us and we would like to
pat ourselves on the back for the result. Two SUP FITNESS platforms
and a SUP FITNESS programme, made up from four different course
components, now point the way in SUP FITNESS.

Hier hat SUP seinen Ursprung und seine Identität. Und natürlich ist und bleibt es die spektakulärste Art des SUP Sports. Nicht selten
bleibt einem der Mund offen stehen beim Anblick der imposanten SUP Wellenreitbilder in diversen Fachmagazinen. Doch die Welle muss
nicht zwingend meterhoch sein, um den Spaßfaktor beim Stand up Paddlen in der Welle zu erleben. Ganz im Gegenteil. Die hohen Wellen
werden für viele wohl eher ein Traum bleiben. Aber schon die kleinste Welle mit bis zu einem Meter Höhe verspricht unglaublichen Spaß.
Wer einmal den Schub einer kleinen Welle erlebt hat, kann kaum mehr davon ablassen. Wenige, aber essentielle Bewegungsabläufe
und der gelernte Blick für die Welle genügen, um in den Genuß dieses Erlebnisses zu kommen. In den Club Mistral Centern in Cabarete,

It is here that SUP has its beginnings and its true identity, and it is naturally where the most spectacular form of the sport is to be found.
Frequently, your jaw drops at the incredible SUP wave riding photos published in the sports’ magazines. Yet the waves don’t have to be
monsters, for you to enjoy immensely Stand Up Paddling in the surf. Quite the opposite. For many, Stand Up Paddling in huge waves
will be more of a dream than a reality. Yet, even the smaller waves – up to 1 metre in height – are great fun. Once you have felt the kick
of being in such waves, you will never look back. Only a few but important moves need to be learnt, and you will need an eye for the

SUP INTRO ist der Einstieg in jedes SUP FITNESS
Programm. In dieser 60-minütigen Einheit werden die Grundlagen des Sportgeräts und der
Paddeltechnik vermittelt. Jeder, der bisher mit
SUP noch nicht in Kontakt gekommen ist und über
keinerlei Paddelerfahrung mit einem SUP Board
verfügt, bereitet sich in diesem Kurs auf das Club
Mistral SUP FITNESS Programm vor.
Neben der Grundlagen-Schulung auf dem SUP
geht es des Weiteren darum, dich mit unterschiedlichen Kraft-, Ausdauer- und Mobilitätsübungen
vertraut zu machen und deinen aktuellen
Trainingsstand zu ermitteln und das für dich richtige Trainingsprogramm auszuwählen.
Das Ziel dieser 60-minütigen Trainingseinheit ist es, deine Koordination,
Kraftausdauer und Beweglichkeit zu verbessern. Nach einer ausgiebigen „Warm
Paddel“ und allgemeinen Aufwärmphase
werden die SUPs an der Fitnessplattform
verankert und das eigentliche Training
kann beginnen. Eine Kombination
aus unterschiedlichen Zug, Druck und
Halteübungen sprechen jeden Muskel deines Körpers an. Die Übungen erfordern
Konzentration, werden aber mit geringer
Intensität durchgeführt und somit auch
von Einsteigern leicht gemeistert.

spine. Developed by physiotherapists as exercises

mainly spent sitting and with little movement, so
this can lead to stress in the spine, problems in
posture and even to pain. SUP Back for Good is
the perfect antidote for you in reducing stress and
protecting yourself from long-term back problems.

SUP INTRO is the entry into this SUP fitness programme. This 60 minute section sets the basics of

board, will be properly prepared in this course for

Following on from the basic training on the SUP
board, you will then have a variety of strength,

not only takes place on the board but also in the water so it will definitely be outside

Unser SUP Team im Alpenvorland wird von Juni bis September
vorwiegend an den oberbayrischen Seen präsent sein. Im
wöchentlichen Rhythmus wird das gesamte Club Mistral Fitness
und Yoga Programm angeboten, der SUP Einsteiger Kurs sowie
organisierte Stand up Paddle Ausflüge in der Gruppe an den verschiedenen Seen. Ein weiteres Highlight wird das afterWORKout
sein. Mit Freunden und Gleichgesinnten beim Stand up Paddling
den Arbeitstag hinter sich zu lassen – das verspricht Spaß,
Workout und Erholung in Einem. Die Boards liegen natürlich
schon für euch am See bereit, um den Moment gleich genießen
zu können. Der Sundowner danach darf natürlich auch nicht fehlen. Viel Spannung versprechen auch unsere zwei Events im Juli
und August auf der oberen Isar inmitten des Karwendelgebirges.
The Summer 2014 will see two mobile SUP Centers up and running. In the foothills of the Alps our SUP Team will mainly be
active on the Upper Bavarian lakes from June to September. In a
weekly cycle, the whole Club Mistral Fitness and Yoga programme will be available, as well as the SUP entry level course and
organised Stand Up Paddle trips in groups on selected lakes. A
particular highlight will be the afterWORKout. Leave your work
behind, and with friends and like-minded people get out Stand
Up Paddling – fun, workout and recovery in one. The boards lie
ready for you at the lake so you can enjoy the moment. And
afterwards, the sundowner is ready, too. We also have two
events planned in July and August on the upper Isar in the middle
of the Karwendelrange – these will be very exciting.

Fuzzy Garhammer zu Besuch im Club
Mistral Dakhla
1971 ist nicht nur das Jahr in dem Greenpeace gegründet wurde und Joe Frazier im Kampf des Jahrhunderts
Muhammad Ali in die Knie zwang. Nein, es war auch
das Jahr in dem Heinrich Garhammer - besser bekannt
als Fuzzy Garhammer - die Skiwelt revolutionierte. Mit
hohen Sprüngen, Balletteinlagen und Buckelakrobatik
(wohlgemerkt auf Ski!!!) imponierte er während des
Weltskilehrerkongresses in Garmisch-Partenkirchen die
gesamte Fachwelt. Was Fuzzy Garhammer damals zeigte,
war der Ursprung des heutigen Freestyle Skifahrens. Eine
Disziplin, die aus dem heutigen professionellen Skisport
nicht mehr wegzudenken ist.

year in which, in the Fight of the Century, Joe Frazier punished Muhammad
Ali. No, it was also the year in which Heinrich Garhammer – better known
as Fuzzy – revolutionised skiing. High jumps, balletic moves and mogul
acrobatics – all on skis – impressed the professional world of skiing during
the World Ski Instructor Congress in Garmisch Partenkirchen. What Fuzzy
Garhammer demonstrated all those years ago formed the basis of today’s
Freestyle Skiing, a discipline that is a core part of the contemporary, professional sport.
42 Jahre später stellt der ehemalige Ski Freestyle Weltmeister seine
eigenen Werte auf den Kopf und lässt sich zu einem Kitekurs überreden, obwohl er sich bisher jeglichem Wassersport verweigert hat. Das
Meer wirkt nicht gerade wie ein Magnet auf ihn. Ganz im Gegensatz zu
einem Haufen Schnee auf unzähligen Bananenkisten. So sah nämlich
eine selbst gebaute Schanze im Garten der Familie Garhammer aus.
Der noch bestehende Familien-Weitenrekord: 30 Meter. So weit sind
seine Sprünge beim Kiten noch nicht, soweit dürfen wir vorweggreifen.
Aber der passionierte Drachenflieger, Bergführer und Filmemacher
Fuzzy hat sich der neuen Herausforderung gestellt und nahm erfolgreich an einem Kitekurs im Club Mistral in Dakhla teil! Zusammen mit
Freunden und seiner sportlichen Frau „Maxi“ war Fuzzy im Oktober
2013 im Süden von Marokko zu Gast. Die Windbedingungen waren
perfekt. Fast täglich blies der Wind mit 25 Knoten und Kitelehrer Ali
konnte sich auf nötigen Ehrgeiz und sportliches Geschick bei Fuzzy und
seinen Freunden verlassen.
Eine Woche Kursprogramm im Club Mistral Dakhla hatte zur Folge,
dass Fuzzy mit einem Kiteboard über das spiegelglatte Wasser der
Lagune von Dakhla glitt. Fuzzy, der bisher seine Erfolge ausschließlich
in den Bergen bzw. im Schnee feierte, konnte seine Begeisterung
nicht verbergen. Doch fast noch mehr als Fuzzy freute sich ein
besonderer Freund mit ihm: sein ehemaliger Skilehrerkollege Toni
(Bichler) – mittlerweile selbst ein begeisterter Kitesurfer - der den
talentierten Extremsportler überzeugte, diese faszinierende Sportart
auszuprobieren! In diesen Wochen feiert Fuzzy Garhammer seinen
66. Geburtstag und bekanntlich fängt ja mit 66 Jahren das Leben an.
Es würde uns nicht wundern, wenn wir Fuzzy demnächst mit einem
Freestyle Kiteboard über einen Slider rutschen sehen... vielleicht
sogar ein Slider aus Bananenkisten.

42 years later, the former World Freestyle Champion turns his own skills
upside down and allows himself to be persuaded to take a kite-course,
even though he had until that point refused any type of watersport. The
sea is really not that appealing to him. Which is in complete contrast to
the mound of snow piled on loads of banana boxes in the Garhammer
family garden. The family record of 30 metres still stands, although
we must state that his jumps whilst kiting were nowhere near so far!
However, the passionate paraglider, mountain guide and film-maker set
himself a new challenge and successfully completed a kite course at Club
Mistral Dakhla. He did this alongside his very active wife, Maxi, and a
group of friends when he was a guest of ours in October 2013 down in
southern Morocco. The wind conditions were perfect. The wind blew 25
knots almost every day and kite instructor Ali was able to make full use of
the ambition and sporting ability demonstrated by Fuzzy and his friends.
A one week course in Club Mistral Dakhla meant that Fuzzy was able to
glide with his kiteboard across the mirror smooth surface of the lagoon
in Dakhla. Fuzzy, who had until then celebrated his successes only in the
mountains and usually only on snow, was unable to contain himself. A
particular friend of his, Toni (Bichler), was also delighted: for many years
they were ski instructors together and Toni, in the meantime also an
enthusiastic kiter, persuaded the talented extreme-sports’ expert to learn
another one.
In that week Fuzzy celebrated his 66 th birthday and, as we know, life
begins at 66. We would not be surprised to see Fuzzy slipping over a slider
with a freestyle kiteboard in the near future…maybe even a slider made
out of banana boxes.
We wish Fuzzy all the best and look forward to his next kiting vacation in
a Club Mistral Center.

des Camping Ballena Alegre. Umbauten des Autoklassikers

When two megaevents come together, you can be sure that
there will be good times, excitement and…parties! We are actually talking about one of the world’s largest VW Camper Van
meetings together with the classic Windsurfing World Cup on
the Costa Brava. Hundreds of VW Camper Vans – from T1 to T5 in
all possible variations – will fill up the pitches at Camping Ballena
Alegre. Some of these classic vehicles will have been customised
as bars with draught beer or as retreats for the DJs who will
ensure a great atmosphere during these few days. At the same
time, and no less entertaining, will be the exciting slalom heats
of the world elite windsurfing professionals just off the beach of
the camping area. Whilst professionals like Antoine Albeau, Cyril
Moussilmani or Björn Dunkerbeck fight it out on the water, Club
Mistral guests can continue to kite and windsurf as they wish.
However, if you really don’t want to take the unique opportunity
to watch the live slalom racing from the beach, then you simply

SUP findet auch in der Bahìa Feliz immer mehr Anhänger. Sowohl Windsurfer als auch Gäste, die bisher nicht wirklich mit Wassersport in Berührung gekommen sind, haben diesen neuen Trendsport für sich entdeckt. Aus diesem
Grunde bieten wir nun auch aufblasbare SUPs (sog. „iSUP“) im Verleih zur Mitnahme an. Miete dir einfach dein
iSUP im Club Mistral und nimm es samt Paddel und Pumpe mit zu deinem Lieblingsstrand! Der Vorteil: Sie sind in
einem handlichen Rucksack verstaut und dadurch leicht zu transportieren. Auf Gran Canaria gibt es viele tolle SUP
Spots zu entdecken. Einmal an seinem Traumspot angekommen, gilt es nur noch das iSUP auszurollen und aufzupumpen. Nach wenigen Minuten steht dem Spaß auf dem Wasser nichts mehr im Wege! Nach der Session verstaust du dein iSUP einfach wieder in der Tasche. Du kannst das iSUP während der gesamten Mietdauer in deiner
Ferienwohnung oder im Hotel behalten und die Küste Gran Canarias entdecken.
SUP is beginning to find more and more devotees, especially in Bahia Feliz. Windsurfers as well as guests, who have
really never had much to do with watersports, have taken this new trendsport to heart. As a result we now have
inflatable SUPs (called iSUP) for rental. Simply hire your iSUP at Club Mistral and take it along with pump and paddle to your favourite beach. The advantage is that you can pack the iSUP into a handy back-pack which makes it
very easy to transport. There are many amazing SUP spots on Gran Canaria to be explored. Once you have arrived
at your chosen spot, all you need to do is unroll the iSUP and inflate it. It only takes a few minutes before you are
out on the water, with nothing to hold you back. Once your session is over, you reverse the process and stow the
iSUP again in its bag. You can keep the iSUP for the entire length of the hire period in your holiday accommodation
or hotel room, and explore Gran Canaria’s coast in your own time.

SZANSZIBAR
Sansibar ist ein Inselarchipel bestehend aus den Hauptinseln Sansibar und Pemba sowie mehreren kleinen Inseln. Es liegt im
Indischen Ozean ca. 40 km von der Küste Tansanias entfernt und 6° südlich des Äquators. Es zeichnet sich durch wunderschöne
Sandstrände sowie Korallenriffe aus. Auf den Inseln werden Gewürznelken, Zimt, Muskat und schwarzer Pfeffer angebaut. Aus
diesem Grund nennt man sie auch die Gewürz-Inseln.

FANATIC THE BOARDERS CENTER
UNTERKÜNFTE
Das Kite Center Sansibar befindet sich direkt am Strand des
friedlichen Fischerdorfes Paje an der Südostküste der Insel.
Von hier aus erstreckt sich einer der schönsten Kitesurfspots
der gesamten Insel. Dim - der Manager - eröffnete die erste
Kiteschule auf Sansibar im Jahr 2006 und führt diese seitdem
mit großem Erfolg. Paje ist ein ruhiger und beschaulicher Ort,
bekannt durch einen der schönsten Strände Sansibars. Diesen
teilen sich Touristen, Seegrasfarmer, Fischerleute und Masai.
Die zwei riesigen Lagunen mit kristallklarem, flachem Wasser
an dem langen, weißen Sandstrand lassen das Kiten zu einem
einzigartigen Erlebnis werden!
Wir waren selbst vor Ort, um für euch die schönsten und
passenden Unterkünfte zu erkunden. Wir bieten auf Sansibar
nun das Dhow Inn, das Cristal Beach Resort, Kitete sowie das
Arabian Nights Annex an. Letzteres liegt am traumhaften Strand
von Paje und bietet Pool mit zwei Jacuzzis und Sonnenterrasse
an. Nach einer Kitesession kann man sich bei einer Massage
mit exotischen Ölen verwöhnen lassen. Auch im Maua Spa des
Cristal Beach Resorts kann man seine Muskeln nach dem Sport
bei einer angenehmen thailändischen Massage wieder lockern.
Dieses Hotel liegt ebenfalls direkt am weißen Sandstrand und
in der Nähe unseres FBC Kitecenters. Das Dhow Inn ist ein kleines, aber luxuriöses Hotel in Paje. Hier wird sehr großer Wert
auf Komfort, Qualität und Service gelegt. Die Atmosphäre ist
modern und stilvoll. Das Kitete ist eine günstige und einfache
Unterkunft direkt hinter dem Center.
Der Kitespot ist stark gezeitenabhängig. Bei Ebbe erreicht
man die immer befahrbare Lagune nach ca. 200m, wobei die
Bedingungen etwas weiter draußen oder etwas weiter südlich
des Centers noch idealer sind. Bei Flut ist auch die vordere
Lagune gefüllt und das Wasser reicht bis 20m vor die Station.
Es ist der perfekte Flachwasserspot – optimal für Unterricht,
aber auch für fortgeschrittene Freestyler. Außerhalb des Riffs
gibt es anspruchsvolle Wellen – nur für echte Könner und auf
eigene Gefahr. Von Juni bis September bläst der Kusini aus
Süden. Dieser ist konstant schräg-auflandig, baut sich morgens
auf und ist am Nachmittag am stärksten. Der Kaskasi dagegen
weht zwischen Dezember und März aus Norden und kann
teilweise etwas böig sein. Das Wetter ist das ganze Jahr über
schön warm mit ungefähr 27 – 30 Grad. Man kann bequem in
Boardshort und Lycra surfen!
HINKOMMEN
Die Condor fliegt einmal wöchentlich ab Frankfurt via Mombasa
nach Sansibar. Zubringerflüge gibt es ab fast allen deutschen
Flughäfen. Der Hinflug ist immer sonntags und zurück geht es
jeden Montag. Gerne buchen wir euch auch ein Zug-zum-Flug
Ticket mit dazu. Am Flughafen in Stone Town angekommen,
dauert der Transfer nach Paje ca. eine Stunde.
ESSEN & TRINKEN
Auf Sansibar gibt es sowohl sehr gute internationale wie auch
afrikanische Küche. Landestypisch ist ein Mix aus indisch und
arabisch, in dem die zahlreichen Gewürze der Insel eine große
Rolle spielen. In Paje hat man eine gute Auswahl von einfachen und günstigen Lokalen über Fischrestaurants bis hin zu
Restaurants gehobener Küche. Häufig werden von den Hotels
BBQ’s organisiert, bei denen man am Abend gemütlich zusammen sitzen kann.

Zanzibar is an archipelago, made up from Zanzibar, Pemba and several other smaller islands. They all lie in the Indian Ocean, 6° south of
the Equator and around 40 km from Tanzania, and are renowned for
their beautiful sandy beaches and coral reefs. They are often referred to as the Spice Islands due to the cultivation of cloves, cinammon, nutmeg and black pepper.

ACCOMMODATION
We have already visited Zanzibar to check out
the best and most suitable accommodation for
you, and our search has brought us to the Dhow
Inn, the Cristal Beach Resort, Kitete and the
Arabian Nights Annex. The last of these lies on
the incredible beach at Paje, and in the middle
of the complex there is a pool with two jacuzzis
and a sun terrace. Plus you can also relax in the
shade of the palms or, after a good kite-session,
allow yourself to be pampered with a massage of
exotic oils. In the Maua Spa at the Cristal Beach
Resort you can also have your tired muscles loosened with a Thai massage. This hotel also lies
directly on the white sand beach and is close to
our FBC Kite Center. The Dhow Inn is a small but
luxurious hotel in Paje itself, and here they are
really serious about comfort, quality and service.
The atmosphere is stylish and modern. Kitete is
a simple guesthouse right next to the Kitesurf
Center.

Cristal Beach Resort
The Kite Center Zanzibar is based directly on the beach in the peaceful fishing village of Paje to the south east
of the island and is one of the most beautiful kite spots on the whole island. Dim, the manager, opened the
very first kitesurfing school on Zanzibar in 2006 and has run it very successfully since then. Paje is a quiet
and untroubled place, known for its particularly beautiful beach, which is frequented by tourists, sea weed
harvesters, fishermen and Masai. Two enormous lagoons fringed by a long beach of white sand and filled with
smooth, crystal-clear water makes kitesurfing here an unique experience.

This kite spot is very dependent on the ebb and flow of the ocean. At high tide the front lagoon is completely
filled and the water reaches up to only 20 m from the centre. At low tide, the second – and always kiteable –
lagoon is about 200 m away, and the best conditions are either somewhat further out or a little way south of
the Center. This is the perfect flat water spot, great for teaching and superb for able freestylers. On the other
side of the reef crash challenging waves, but these are for advanced riders only who kite at their own risk. The
Kusini blows from the south during June to September; the wind is a constant cross-onshore which builds up
from the morning until it is at its strongest in the afternoon. The Kaskasi in comparison blows in from the north
between December and March, and can be somewhat gusty. The weather is nicely warm all through the year
with between 27 – 30 degrees, so you can kite very happily in boardshorts and a lycra.

FOOD & DRINK
Zanzibar offers a wide range of international and african food. The typical dishes are a mixture of indian and
arabic tastes. Spices play a large role in the cuisine of the island. In Paje there are a variety of restaurants, from
high class cuisine to fish restaurants and restaurants with affordable prices. There are regular BBQ’s organized
by the hotels where guests get together in evening.
