Fuerteventura acude a la feria ITB de Berlín

Fuerteventura participó en la Feria Internacional
de Turismo de Berlín (ITB), contando con la presencia
del Patronato y la Consejería de Turismo, montado
un stand y organizado un programa de encuentros
dentro de una estrategia conjunta consensuada
con los ayuntamientos majoreros y el empresariado
turístico insular.
El presidente del Cabildo, Mario Cabrera, y la consejera de Turismo del Cabildo, Águeda Montelongo,
estuvieron a la cabeza de la delegación de Fuerteventura, que a su vez estuvo integrada por técnicos
y promotores del Patronato de Turismo, informadores
de los ayuntamientos turísticos, la agente promocional representante de la Isla majorera en la OET de
Berlín, etc.
El espacio de la feria dio lugar a con segmentos
o empresas turísticas especializadas o de otras
nacionalidades, como el tour operador israelí Mona
Tours, TUI Poland, Aida Cruises, la central de reservas
Segittur, TUI Cruises, la revista holandesa Reisrevue,
el tour operador online Weg.de o distintos estamentos
de Turespaña.
Fuerteventura participates in Berlin’s ITB fair
Fuerteventura participated in the International
Tourism Fair of Berlin (ITB), where the Tourism board
and council were present, with a stand and a programme of meetings organised within a joint strategy
agreed between Majorero Ayuntamientos and the
island’s tourism businesses.
The Cabildo’s president, Mario Cabrera, and the
Cabildo’s Tourism Councillor, Águeda Montelongo,
were at the head of Fuerteventura’s delegation that
also consisted of technicians and promoters of the
Tourism board, Ayuntamiento tourism informers, the
promotional agent representing the Majorero Island
in the OET of Berlin, etc.
The fair was a meeting opportunity for specialised
or foreign tourism businesses such as the Israeli tour
operator Mona Tours, TUI Poland, Aida Cruises, the
reservations central of Segittur, TUI Cruises, the Dutch
magazine Reisrevue, the online tour operator Weg.de
or various departments of Turespaña.

Fuerteventura auf der internationalen
Tourismusmesse (ITB) in Berlin
Fuerteventura nahm an der internationalen Tourismusmesse in Berlín (ITB) teil. Am Stand der Insel
waren das Patronat für Tourismus und das Amt für
Tourismus vertreten. Es gab ein Veranstaltungsprogramm, das im Rahmen einer gemeinsamen Strategie
von den Gemeinden und den Unternehmern der Insel
gemeinsam entwickelt wurde.
Der Präsident des Cabildo, Mario Cabrera, und
die Beauftragte für Tourismus des Cabildo, Águeda
Montelongo, standen an der Spitze der Delegation
aus Fuerteventura, zu der außerdem Techniker und
Promotoren des Patronats für Tourismus, Angestellte
der touristischen Gemeinde und der Vertreter von
Fuerteventura im spanischen Tourismusbüro von
Berlín usw. gehörten.
Bei der Messe waren auch spezialisierte touristische Unternehmen aus anderen Ländern vertreten,
wie der israelische Reiseveranstalter Mona Tours, TUI
Poland, Aida Cruises, die Buchungszentrale Segittur,
TUI Cruises, die holländische Zeitschrift Reisrevue,
der Online-Reiseveranstalter Weg.de und Turespaña.

Oferta de cursos gratuitos dirigidos al sector
primario
La Asociación para la Gestión del Desarrollo Rural
‘Maxorata Verde’ GDR Maxorata, organiza entre los
meses de abril y junio de este año cuatro cursos
formativos dirigidos a fomentar la mejora de la formación entre los profesionales del sector primario
en Fuerteventura.
Estos cursos, que serán totalmente gratuitos, permitirán a los participantes obtener la cualificación
profesional agraria en las materias de ‘Poda de
frutales’, ‘Trabajos especializados con palmeras’, y
‘Manipulación de productos fitosanitarios’, esta última a través de dos cursos centrados en los niveles
básico y cualificado.
En total serán 80 plazas ofertadas, que permitirán
a muchos profesionales del sector primario insular
conseguir una titulación homologada dentro de la
actividad que realizan, al tiempo que muchos otros
interesados podrán también obtener una formación
que les permita acercarse al mundo de la agricultura.
El periodo de inscripción permanecerá abierto hasta el comienzo de los cursos o hasta cubrir el cupo
de plazas ofertadas.
GDR Maxorata es una entidad integrada por instituciones como el Cabildo de Fuerteventura y las
Mancomunidades de Municipios, además de otros
colectivos como la Cooperativa de Gran Tarajal, la
Cooperativa Guriamen, la Asociación Raíz del Pueblo
o la Asociación de Turismo Rural, entre otras.

Free courses for the
primary sector
The Association for the Management of Rural Development called “Maxorata Verde” GDR Maxorata,
organises between April and June this year four courses aimed at improving the training of professionals
of the primary sector in Fuerteventura.
Those courses, that will be totally free, will allow
participants to obtain professional agricultural qualifications in subjects such as “Pruning fruits trees”,
“Specialised work with Palm Trees” and “Manipulation of phytosanitary products”, this last one will take
two courses based on basic level and qualified level.
There will be a total of 80 spaces available that
will allow many professionals of the island’s primary
sector to obtain a homologated degree within their
own activity, and many others who are interested will
also benefit from a training course that will allow them
to be introduced in the agricultural world.
Registration will be open until the beginning of courses or until the maximum number of spaces is filled.
GDR maxorata is an entity that integrates institutions such as Fuerteventura’s Cabildo and the Municipalities as well as other associations such as Gran
Tarajal’s cooperative, Guriamen Cooperative, Raíz
del Pueblo Association, or the Association of Rural

Kostenloses Kursangebot für den Primärsektor
Der Verband für ländliches Entwicklungsmanagement ‘Maxorata Verde’ GDR Maxorata organisiert
dieses Jahr von April bis Juni vier Ausbildungskurse
für die Verbesserung der Ausbildung der Fachleute
des Primärsektors von Fuerteventura.
Diese Kurse sind gratis. Am Ende erhalten die Teilnehmer eine professionelle Qualifizierung in den Bereichen ‘Beschneidung von Bäumen’, ‘Facharbeiten
mit Palmen’, und ‘Manipulation von phytosanitären
Produkten’. In diesem letzten Bereich gibt es zwei Kurse, einen Grundkurs und einen Spezialisierungskurs.
Insgesamt werden 80 Plätze angeboten, wodurch
zahlreiche Fachkräfte des Primärsektors der Insel im
Bereich ihrer Arbeit eine anerkannte Titulierung erhalten können. Gleichzeitig erhalten andere Interessierte
eine Ausbildung, dank der sie im Bereich der Landwirtschaft arbeiten können. Die Anmeldefrist läuft
bis zu Beginn der vier Kurse oder bis diese voll sind.
GDR Maxorata ist eine Einrichtung zu der unter
anderem Institutionen wie der Cabildo von Fuerteventura, die Zweckgemeinschaften der Gemeinden
und Kollektive wie die Kooperative von Gran Tarajal,
die Kooperative Guriamen, der Verband La Asociación Raíz del Pueblo und der Verband für ländlichen
Tourismus gehören.

Una noria de tiro vuelve a funcionar en
Betancuria
Por primera vez en 40 años, un sistema de tracción
animal ha permitido extraer agua de un pozo en
Betancuria. La Consejería de Cultura y Patrimonio
Histórico del Cabildo se encuentra desarrollando
un proyecto de recuperación de bienes de Interés
Cultural dirigido dos norias de tiro que estuvieron
funcionando en el municipio majorero hasta la década de los años 70 del siglo XX.
Con el asesoramiento de los vecinos de Betancuria
y apoyándose en la labor artesana de los talleres
de carpintería de la Corporación, la consejería ha
finalizado la recuperación de la noria del Pozo de La
Calle, y se encuentra en proceso de hacer lo mismo
en una segunda estructura en el Pozo de Los Peña.
En Betancuria llegaron a funcionar hasta seis
norias de tiro, también llamadas norias de sangre,
porque se valían de la fuerza de los animales, que
podían ser burros o camellos, para extraer agua de los
pozos y abastecer a las necesidades de las familias o
destinar el agua para el riego de los cultivos.
Este tipo de infraestructuras hidráulicas, cuyo origen se remonta al imperio persa, se generalizó en
Fuerteventura desde mediados del siglo XIX hasta
principios de los años 70 del siglo pasado, época en
que se abandonaron definitivamente ente la llegada
de sistemas más modernos.
Durante el proceso de restauración se ha reproducido la apariencia de madera desgastada de las norias
originales, utilizando un proceso de envejecimiento
basado en la aplicación de arena a presión en la
superficie de la madera.
105 litros en cada giro
La noria del Pozo de La Calle es capaz de extraer
105 litros en cada giro, al contar con un total de 15
cántaros de 7 litros de capacidad cada uno. Las
norias de tiro tradicionales que se utilizaban en
Fuerteventura funcionaban con un sistema sencillo
similar al de los molinos de viento, que se detalla a
continuación:
La tracción del animal, que se encuentra uncido a
la estructura mediante la mijarra, permite mover una
rueda dentada horizontal llamada rueda de aire. Ésta,
a su vez, mueve una segunda rueda vertical llamada
rueda de agua, a la que se encuentran adosados los
cántaros mediante un sistema de cuerdas circular
que permite extraer el agua del pozo. Cuando alcanza
la parte alta de la estructura, cada cántaro deposita
su contenido en una cuneta llamada artesa, que
cuenta con un orificio para deja salir el agua hacia la
atarjea (especie de caño), desde donde finalmente
se dirige el agua hacia la zona de cultivo o algún tipo
de depósito como un aljibe o similar.

A waterwheel is operating again in Betancuria
For the first time in 40 years, a system of animal
traction has extracted water from a well in Betancuria. The Cabildo’s Culture and Heritage Council is
developing a project of recuperation of properties of
Cultural Interest and has aimed it at two waterwheels
that used to be in action in the municipality until the
1970’s.
With the help of neighbours from Betancuria, and
thanks to the support of the Corporation’s carpenter’s
workshops, the council managed by Genara Ruiz has
completed the recovery of the waterwheel of Pozo de
La Calle and the same is currently being carried out
on another one in pozo de Los Peña.
There used to be up to six waterwheels in action in
Betancuria, also called blood waterwheels because of
the animal strength required, from donkeys or camels,
to extract water from the wells and supply water for
the families’ needs or to irrigate fields.
This type of hydraulic infrastructure, whose origin
goes back to the Persian empire, spread in Fuerteventura from the middle if the 19th century until the
beginning of the 1970’s, which is when their use was
completely abandoned for more modern systems.
During the process of restoration, the appearance
of weathered wood was reproduced using a process
of ageing using a pressure sanding systems on the
wood’s surface.
105 litres with each revolution
The waterwheel of Pozo de La Calle can extract
105 litres of water with each revolution, with a total
of 15 jugs of 7 litres each. Traditional waterwheels
that were used in Fuerteventura used to function with
a simple system that is similar to windmills, which
works as follows:
The traction generated by the animal that is attached to the structure, moves a dented horizontal wheel called air wheel. This wheel then moves another
vertical wheel called water wheel on which the jugs
are fixed through a system of circular ropes that allow
water to be drawn from the well. When they get to the
top of the structure, each jug pours its content in a
gutter that has a hole for the water to escape into a
pipe that finally pours the water towards a cultivated
area or some type of water tank.

bis Anfang der 70-er Jahre des vergangenen Jahrhunderts üblich. Nach der Einführung modernerer
Systeme wurden sie endgültig aufgegebe.
Während der Restaurierungsarbeiten wurden die
Norias einem künstlichen Alterungsprozess unterzogen. Dabei wird die Oberfläche des Holzes mit Sand
bearbeitet und erhält so ein verbrauchtes aussehen.
105 Liter bei jeder Drehung
Die Noria von Pozo de La Calle kann 105 Liter bei
jeder Drehung schöpfen und verfügt insgesamt über
15 Kannen, von denen jedes eine Kapazität von 7
Litern hat. Auf Fuerteventura funktionierten die traditionellen Norias mit einem einfachen System, das den
Windmühlen ähnelte und in Folge beschrieben wird:
Der tierische Antrieb ermöglicht es, ein horizontales
Zahnrad zu bewegen, das Luftrad genannt wird. Dieses bewegt ein zweites vertikales Rad, das Wasserrad
genannt wird. Die Kannen sind mit dem letzteren
durch ein Rundlaufband verbunden, wodurch Wasser
aus dem Brunnen geholt werden kann. Wenn der
Hochpunkt der Anlage erreicht wird, fließt der Inhalt
einer jeden Kanne in einen Wassergraben, der Artesa
heißt und über ein Loch verfügt, aus dem das Wasser
in die Atarjea (eine Art Abflussrohr) gelangt. Von dort
aus wird das Wasser schließlich zu den Feldern und
in irgendein Depot wie ein Zisterne oder ähnliches
geleitet.
In Betancuria funktioniert ein alter Zugbrunnen wieder
Zum ersten Mal seit vierzig Jahren konnte durch ein
Tier-Traktions-System Wasser aus einem Brunnen in
Betancuria geschöpft werden. Das Amt für Kultur und
historisches Erbe des Cabildo führt zurzeit ein Projekt
für die Wiedereinführung von kulturell wertvollen
Bräuchen durch, bei dem die beiden traditionellen
Zugbrunnen (Norias de Tiro) wieder in Gang gesetzt
werden, die in dieser Gemeinde von Fuerteventura
bis in die 70-er Jahre des XX. Jahrhunderts funktionierten.
Das Amt hat mit Hilfe der Anwohnern von Betancuria und den Tischlereiwerkstätten des Cabildo die
Restaurierungsarbeiten der Noria von Pozo de La Calle abgeschlossen. Zurzeit werden derartige Arbeiten
in Pozo de Los Peña durchgeführt.
In Betancuria gab es bis zu sechs Norias, die auch
Blut-Norias genannt wurden, weil sie von der Kraft
von Tieren, Eseln oder Kamelen angetrieben wurden,
um Wasser für die Haushalte und die Bewässerung
der Felder heraufzuholen.
Die Art von hydraulischen Infrastrukturen, die im
persischen Imperium erfunden worden sind, war auf

Desde hace unos meses Fuerteventura ha vivido
un cambio importante: Las carreteras se encuentran
plagadas de ciclistas, en solitario, en grupos o en
pelotón, como en una carrera oficial: son turistas que
han decidido conocer la isla pedaleando sus bicicletas. Y por alrededor de Las Playitas o Gran Tarajal,
también es frecuente encontrar personas haciendo
jogging u otras actividades deportivas.
Curiosos ante este nuevo tipo de visitantes tan
activos, hemos querido que nos hable de ellos y de
las causas que están produciendo esta nueva imagen
en la isla, el director de marketing de Playitas Golf
Resort, Tomas Martín.
Cuéntenos ¿a qué se debe la afluencia de tantos
deportistas?
Hemos invertido mucho, llegando a un acuerdo
con un equipo profesional internacional Saxso Bank
cuyo director es Bian Eric, un ex campeón del Tour de
France de origen danés al que contactamos y al que
yo personalmente acompañé por toda la isla, la cual
no conocía y solo había oído de ella, “viento, mucha
arena y windsurf”. Quedó sorprendido y encantado de
ver las posibilidades que tenía la isla, para practicar
ciclismo, incluso el nivel de las montañas lo encontró
adecuado para los entrenamientos.
Ha sido una gran inversión económica por nuestra
parte, la firma del contrato con este equipo, que se
realizo justo dos días antes del Tour de France. Ya
Playitas Golf Resort esta visible en el traje del equipo,
en los bíceps.
Tuvimos una tremenda reacción en Internet como
consecuencia del Tour, mucha gente quiso saber que
es “Playitas”. Esto hace que seamos cada vez más
conocidos, no solo el Resort, sino el pueblito y por
supuesto Fuerteventura, ya que desde los primeros
entrenamientos, vinieron una gran cantidad de periodistas de todos los países; sólo de USA, vinieron unos
diez, para cubrir todas las actividades, además de las
cadenas de televisión danesas, suecas, alemanas
etc.. Esto tuvo una gran repercusión.
Este nuevo enfoque que hemos ido dando a Playitas
Golf Resort ha propiciado que deportistas de élite y
también aficionados, amantes del turismo activo,
nos vayan escogiendo como un lugar adecuado para
descansar al mismo tiempo que entrenarse.
Aprovechando este tema, quiero dar las gracias a
los conductores de Fuerteventura, por su paciencia y
colaboración con los ciclistas y deseo que sepan que
por esta causa los equipos profesionales y aficionados, se llevan una magnifica imagen de la isla, como
lugar de referencia para aconsejar a otros deportistas
que nos visiten.
La inauguración de la ampliación del campo de
golf y de la piscina olímpica, ¿son parte del nuevo
aire de Playitas Golf Resort?
Sí, sabíamos que teníamos que especializarnos
en algo diferente, para que nuestra oferta pudiera
ser tan conocida como otras zonas de la isla que ya
tienen un nombre en el campo turístico y decidimos
hacer una gran inversión aprovechando el entorno
que tenemos y el millón de metros cuadrados de
este complejo para convertir Playitas Golf Resort
en un destino importante de actividades deportivas.
Nuestro campo de golf, ya puede albergar campeonatos oficiales, ya estamos inscritos en la Federación
Canaria y Española de Golf. Además es un circuito
que gusta mucho a los jugadores experimentados
porque tiene algunas dificultades muy específicas.

¿Y esto ha producido algún cambio en los jugadores que les visitan?
Sí, tenemos más asociados locales y también los
turistas que nos visitan son más especializados y
profesionales de este deporte. A partir de estos 18
hoyos hemos entrado en el catalogo de ofertas para
los tours operadores especializados en golf.
Ahora tenemos incluso muchos grupos de Escandinavia, Alemania, etc., que vienen aprovechando el
clima, ya que en sus países no pueden jugar ahora.
Traen incluso su propio instructor o Pro.
Háblenos de las nuevas instalaciones…
También hemos inaugurado en diciembre un gran
gimnasio, que ha sido una fuerte inversión. Son
700 m2 repartidos en tres áreas, equipadas con la
maquinaría más moderna y con unos instructores
de primera. Desde por la mañana los instructores
comienzan el día con la clase de fitness, respiración,
yoga y prácticamente continúan todo el día en activo.
Estos instructores están continuamente formados
por un conductor, que es un profesional con su propia empresa, al que hemos subcontratado para que
nuestros personal se mantenga bien formado. Somos
conscientes que nuestro competidor es el Club La
Santa, que tiene años de prestigio y no podemos
descuidar ningún detalle.
El gimnasio ¿es solo para clientes o esta abierto
al público en general?
Hasta el momento, desde que hemos abierto, estamos completamente llenos con nuestros clientes,
ya que está incluido en el servicio del hotel y, aunque
casi todos nuestros clientes son deportistas de distintas disciplinas, todos tienen en común el uso del
gimnasio como mantenimiento. No obstante esperamos que la temporada de verano podamos abrirlo
al público que desee visitarlo y practicar sus rutinas.
Además de ciclistas, ¿que otros deportistas acuden preferentemente?
En estos momentos tenemos unos 230 triatletas
en Playitas Golf Resort, algunos son famosos por
haber ganado el triatlón de Hawai. Este es un deporte
nuevo, que cada vez tiene más adeptos. También
hay corredores sobre tierra, a lo que dejan correr
los propietarios en sus terrenos, cosa que por cierto
quiero agradecer.
¿Más novedades?
Estamos patrocinando 6 atletas profesionales y no
profesionales, que llevan nuestro logotipo durante
sus competiciones, y que llevan por el mundo la
imagen deportiva de Playitas.
Otra novedad, es que hemos traído una marca de
productos Trinkform. Son complementos dietéticos
para las personas que realizan deportes, y esta
avalada por su creador Olaf Sabatschus, un atleta
alemán ganador de Iroman en China, Brasil y 3º en
Lanzarote 2009
Y proyectos a corto plazo…
Con el tiempo quisiéramos hacer también eventos
de competición aquí, empezaríamos con duatlón que
es menos duro.
Hemos ampliado nuestras canchas de tenis y
vamos a continuar haciendo más, pues la demanda
es cada vez mayor y también pensamos ampliarnos
con canchas de vóley playa y de pádel que nos demandan mucho.
Esperamos que el carril bici, abra el camino más
fácil para nuestros ciclistas y corredores hacia
Gran Tarajal, deseamos que estas visites habituales
también sirvan para dar más vitalidad al comercio y
la restauración de la zona, ya que nuestro régimen
hotelero no es de todo incluido.
Queremos concentrarnos confeccionar paquetes
de semanas de salud para gente madura impartidas por preparadores famosos y bien preparados
que les enseñen unas disciplinas adecuadas de
mantenimiento y corrección de hábitos posturales
y nutricionales. Creo que vamos a empezar ya esta
primavera. Igualmente esperamos traer a deportistas
de renombre para aquellos que deseen ser entrenados por ellos.

“Playitas is a site suitable for both rest and
training”
Over the past few months Fuerteventura has undergone important changes: roads are inundated
with cyclists, alone, in groups or packs, like in official
races: those are tourists who have decided to discover
the island on their bikes. And around Las Playitas or
Gran Tarajal, it is also usual to meet people jogging
or doing some other kind of activity.
Curiously faced with this new type of active visitors,
we wanted the new marketing director of Playitas Golf
Resort, Tomas Martín, to speak to us about them and
what this new image of the island is creating.
Tell us, what is causing this affluence of sports’
enthusiasts?
We have invested a lot, and came to an agreement
with an International Professional Team, Saxso Bank,
whose director is Brian Eric from Denmark, a Tour de
France ex-champion. We contacted him and I personally took him all over the island, which he did not
know and had only head about it for the wind, sand
and windsurfing. He was surprised and pleased to
see the possibilities that the island has to offer to
practise cycling and even found the mountain levels
suitable for training.
The signature of the contract with this team, which
happened a few days before the Tour de France,
meant a great financial investment for us. Playitas
Golf Resort is now visible on the team’s jersey, on
their biceps.
We got a tremendous response on the Internet
from the Tour, many people wanted to find out about
“Playitas”. This means we get known more and more,
not only the resort, but the village and of course
Fuerteventura. From the first training sessions many
journalists from many countries came over; from the
USA alone around ten of them came to cover the
activities, as well as television crews from Denmark,
Sweden, Germany, etc. This had a great repercussion.
This new focus on Playitas Golf Resort has made
elite athletes and enthusiasts, people keen on active
space on the tourism market and we decided to invest
and take advantage of our natural environment and
the million square meters we have on this complex to
convert Playitas Golf Resort into a sports destination.
Our Golf Course, can now host official championships and we are registered in the Canarian and
Spanish Golf Federation. Furthermore it is a circuit
that experimented players like a lot as it possesses
specific difficulties.
Have there been some changes in the payers
visiting the course?
Yes, we now have more local associates and the
tourists who visit the course are more specialised
and professional in Golf. Thanks to the 18 holes we
have now entered the catalogues of tour operators
tourism, choose us as a site suitable both for resting
and training.
Regarding this issue, I wish to thank drivers in
Fuerteventura for their patience and collaboration
with cyclists and I would like them to know that for
that reason, professional teams and enthusiasts
keep a great image of the island, as a reference and
destination to be recommended to other athletes.
The inauguration of the Golf Course and swimming pool extension, are they part of the new
style of Playitas Golf Resort?
Yes, we knew we had to specialise in something
different, so that our offer could be as well known as
other parts of the island that already have their own
specialised in Golf. We now also have more groups
from Scandinavia, Germany, etc. who come to take
advantage of the climate as they can’t play in their
own country at this time a year. They also bring their
own instructors or Pro.
Tell us about the new facilities…
We also inaugurated in December a large gymnasium that represented a great investment. It consists
of 700 square meters split in three areas, they are
equipped with modern equipment and we have
first class instructors. From the morning onwards,
instructors start the day with fitness, breathing and
yoga classes that almost continue all day long. Those
instructors are continuously trained by a professional
who we have sub-contracted in order to ensure that
our staff is constantly well trained. We are aware that
our competitor is Club la Santa that benefits from
years of prestige and we cannot overlook any detail.
Is the gymnasium only open to clients or is it also
open to the general public?
Until now, since we opened, we have been completely full with clients as it is included in our hotel
services, and although our clients are athletes from
various sport disciplines, they all use the gymnasium
to train. However we hope that during the summer
we will be able to open to the public.
In addition to cyclists, what other types of athletes do you tend to get?
At present we have about 230 triathletes in Playitas
Golf Resort, some are famous for winning the Hawaii
triathlon. This is a new sport that is getting more and
more adepts. There are also cross country runners,
who local landlords let run on their land, which once
again I am grateful for.
Any other novelties?
We are sponsoring 6 professional and non professional athletes, who will wear our logo during their
competitions, and will spread worldwide the sports
destination image of Playitas.
Another novelty is that we have brought in a brand
of products called Trinkform. Those are dietetic complements for athletes, which have been endorsed by
their creator, Olaf Sabatschus, a german athlete who
won the Ironman competition in China, Brasil and was
third in Lanzarote in 2009.
And short term projects…
In due course we would like to organise competition
here, we would start with a duathlon which is easier.
We have increased our number of tennis courts and
we will continue creating more as we have more and
more demand and we are thinking of adding beach
volley and padel courts that are also very demanded.
We hope that the cycle path will make it easier for our
cyclists and runners until Gran Tarajal, we wish for those visitors to also bring more activity for businesses and
restaurants in the area as our resort is not all inclusive.
We want to concentrate on creating packages of
health weeks for elderly people with famous and well
trained professionals who will teach them adequate
disciplines to improve their posture and nutritional
habits. I believe that we will start this spring. We also
would like to attract famous athletes for people who
would like to be trained by them.

Seit einigen Monaten ändert sich etwas auf Fuerteventura: Die Straßen sind voll von Radfahrern, die
allein, in Gruppen oder im Peloton fahren, genau
wie bei einem echten Rennen: Es sind Touristen, die
beschlossen haben, die Insel mit dem Fahrrad zu
erkundigen. Und in der Umgebung von Las Playitas
oder Gran Tarajal sieht man inzwischen auch oft
Leute, die joggen oder einen anderen Sport treiben.
Diese neue Art von Besuchern hat uns neugierig
gemacht, weshalb wir uns mit dem neuen MarketingDirektor des Playitas Golf Resort über sie unterhalten

Erzählen Sie uns bitte, woher plötzlich diese vielen Sportler kommen?
Wir haben viel investiert und ein Abkommen mit
der bedeutenden internationalen Profimannschaft
abgeschlossen, die Saxso Bank heißt und von Bian
Eric geleitet wird, einem in Dänemark geborenen
ehemaligen Champion der Tour de France. Wir haben
uns mit ihm in Verbindung gesetzt und ich habe ihn
persönlich auf der ganzen Insel begleitet. Er kannte
sie nicht, aber er hatte schon gehört, dass es hier viel
Wind und Sand gibt und dass man gut Windsurfen
kann”. Er war überrascht und begeistert von den
Möglichkeiten, die diese Insel bietet, sogar die Höhe
der Berge fand er angemessen für das Training.
Für uns war die Tatsache, dass wir mit dieser
Mannschaft ein Abkommen abgeschlossen haben,
eine bedeutende ökonomische Investition. Dies geschah genau zwei Tage vor der Tour de France. Und
nun sieht man Playitas Golf Resort schon auf der
Kleidung der Mannschaft, auf den Bizeps.
Nach der Tour gab es eine große Resonanz im
Internet, viele Leute wollen wissen, was “Playitas”
ist. Deshalb wird nicht nur der Resort, sondern
auch der Ort und natürlich Fuerteventura immer
bekannter. Schon am Anfang kamen Journalisten
aus zahlreichen Ländern, um über alle Aktivitäten
zu berichten. Allein aus den USA kamen ungefähr
zehn, außerdem kamen dänische, schwedische und
deutsche Fernesehsender usw. All dies hatte einen
großen Widerhall.
Dieser neue Schwerpunkt, den wir Playitas Golf Resort gegeben haben, hat dazu geführt, dass Elite- und
Hobbysportler sowie Begeisterte des Aktivtourismus
uns auswählen, weil es ein idealer Ort für sie ist, um
sich auszuruhen und gleichzeitig zu trainieren.
Wir nutzen diese Gelegenheit, um uns hier bei den
Autofahrern von Fuerteventura für ihre Geduld und
Rücksichtsnahme auf die Radfahrer zu bedanken. Ich
möchte sie wissen lassen, dass sie dazu beitragen,
dass die Profi- und Hobbymannschaften, wenn sie
hier abreisen, eine ausgezeichnete Meinung über

Gehören die Erweiterung des Golfplatzes und des
olympischen Schwimmbads zu einem neuen Stil
im Playitas Golf Resort?
Ja, wir wussten, dass wir uns in irgendetwas
Besonderem spezialisieren mussten, damit unser
Angebot so bekannt wird, wie andere Orte der Insel.
Wir beschlossen viel zu investieren, indem wir unsere
Umgebung nutzen. Und wir haben die eine Million
Quadratmeter, aus denen diese Anlage besteht genutzt, um aus Playitas Golf Resort ein wichtiges Ziel
für Sportreisen zu machen.
Auf unserem Golfplatz können schon professionelle Meisterschaften veranstaltet werden. Wir sind
Mitglied der spanischen Golfföderation. Die erfahrenen Spieler mögen unseren Golfplatz, weil er einige
spezifische Schwierigkeiten aufweist.
Werden Sie seitdem von anderen Sportlern besucht?
Ja, wir haben mehr örtliche Mitglieder und auch die
Touristen, die uns besuchen, sind professioneller in
dieser Sportart. Seitdem wir 18 Löcher haben, wurden wir in den Katalog mit Angeboten für auf Golfreisen spezialisierte Reiseveranstalter aufgenommen.
Zurzeit sind viele Gruppen aus Deutschland, Skandinavien usw. dabei, die von dem Klima profitieren,
wenn sie in ihren Ländern noch nicht spielen können.
Sie bringen ihren eigenen Golflehrer oder Pro mit.
Erzählen Sie uns etwas über Ihre neuen Einrichtungen …
Wir haben im Dezember auch ein großes Fitnessstudio eingerichtet, das war eine große Investition. Es besteht aus drei Bereichen auf einer 700 m2
großen Fläche. Wir haben die modernsten Maschinen
und hervorragende Lehrer. Unsere Lehrer beginnen
morgens mit dem Unterricht (Fitness, Atmung, Yoga)
und sind den ganzen Tag über aktiv. Diese Lehrer
werden ständig von einem Ausbildungsleiter weitergebildet, einem Experten, der ein eigenes Unternehmen
hat. Wir sind und bewusst, dass der Club La Santa,
der schon seit Jahren Erfolg hat, unsere Konkurrenz
ist. Wir müssen auf jede Kleinigkeit achten.
Ist das Fitnessstudio nur für Ihre Kunden, oder
auch für das allgemeine Publikum?
Seit unserer Eröffnung sind unsere Einrichtungen,
die ja zu den Leistungen des Hotels gehören, schon
durch unsere Kunden ausgelastet. Jedoch hoffen wir,
dass wir das Fitnessstudio im Sommer allen Interessierten zugänglich machen können.
Welche anderen Sportler kommen außer den
Radfahrern?
Zurzeit sind 230 Dreikämpfer in Playitas Golf
Resort, einige von ihnen sind berühmt, weil sie den
Dreikampf in Hawaii gewonnen haben. Dieser Sport
wird immer häufiger ausgeübt. Auch Läufer sind bei
uns. Die Grundbesitzer erlauben ihnen, ihr Gelände
zu nutzen. Dafür möchte ich mich bedanken.
Gibt es noch mehr Neuigkeiten?

Eine weitere Neuigkeit ist, dass wir die Marke

Und kurzfristige Projekte …
Mit der Zeit möchten wir hier auch Wettkämpfe
veranstalten. Wir werden mit Duathlon anfangen,
weil das nicht so hart ist.
Wir haben unsere Tennisplätze vergrößert und
wir werden noch mehr machen, denn die Nachfrage
wird immer größer. Wir denken auch daran, Plätze
für Strandvolleyball und Paddle-Tennis einzurichten,
weil eine große Nachfrage danach besteht.
Wir hoffen, dass es einen Fahrradweg nach Gran
Tarajal geben wird. Wir hoffen auch, dass unsere Besucher den Geschäften und Restaurants der Gegend
zugute kommen, denn bei uns im Hotel ist nicht alles
im Preis inbegriffen.
Wir möchten uns auch darauf konzentrieren, Gesundheitswochen für ältere Menschen zu entwerfen,
in denen ihnen berühmte und erfahrene Trainer beibringen, wie sich fit halten sowie ihre Haltungsschäden korrigieren und ihre Ernährung verbessern können. Ich glaube, dass wir damit im Frühling anfangen
werden. Außerdem möchten wir unseren Kunden die
Möglichkeit bieten, von berühmten Sportlern trainiert

El Parque Nacional de Zonas Áridas afronta
la recta final de un largo camino
En los últimos años, el Cabildo de Fuerteventura ha
estado trabajando en un proyecto que, hasta ahora,
no había pasado de ser una ilusión. Pero el momento
ha llegado y el Parque Nacional de las Zonas Áridas
empieza a caminar con paso firme para tomar forma
en el plazo de dos años.
En este período, un equipo multidisciplinar de la
Universidad Complutense de Madrid preparará la
primera propuesta, es decir, el Plan de Ordenación
de Recursos Naturales (PORN), que será elevado
al Gobierno. El equipo, liderado por Francisco Díaz
Pineda, catedrático de Ecología de la Complutense y
presidente de WWW/Adena, está compuesto por 11
equipos de científicos.
Cuando su trabajo concluya, se habrá cumplido la
primera fase de un procedimiento que concluirá con
la aprobación de una ley en las Cortes Generales.
UN LARGO CAMINO
Desde el año 2003, el Cabildo de Fuerteventura ha
estado trabajando en este proyecto para lograr el reconocimiento de un parque natural que abarcaría un
área de unas 44.000 hectáreas distribuidas por toda
la isla, aunque la mayor parte pertenecería a la costa
de Barlovento. La superficie, que pretende obtener
un alto nivel de protección, alberga las zonas desérticas y semidesérticas más extensas del continente
europeo. Pero eso no es todo, además, el espacio
protegido incluye la gran mayoría de los endemismos
tanto vegetales como animales de Fuerteventura y
un sistema insular que cuenta con unas condiciones
climáticas singulares y geomorfológicas.
Sin embargo, no todos los aspectos son positivos.
La zona propuesta por el Cabildo reúne grandes
valores naturales para su protección, pero en su
perímetro se encuentra situado el campo de tiro y
maniobras de Pájara, algo que no estaría permitido
dentro de un espacio reconocido como parque nacional. Otros aspecto que causa dudas es el de no incluir
en el interior del parque asentamientos de población.

PASOS EN FALSO
Y es que la complejidad del asunto ha sido la causa
principal de muchos pasos en falso en los últimos
años. Todo ello, a pesar de contar con el respaldo de
instituciones como la Consejería de Medio Ambiente
y Ordenación Territorial del Gobierno de Canarias o
el Ministerio de Medio Ambiente.
Pese al propósito de colaboración de los diferentes
grupos, la dificultad del proceso y las lagunas en
su desarrollo han sido protagonistas de diferentes
enfrentamientos en el Parlamento regional. Muchas
son las cuestiones que están en el aire como los plazos o las dimensiones del parque, aunque si se han
adelantado algunas prohibiciones como construir,
pescar o sobrevolar el área protegida.
El propio consejero de Medio Ambiente y Ordenación Territorial del Gobierno de Canarias, Domingo
Berriel, reconoció en las últimas fechas que «todavía
queda mucho camino por recorrer». Sin embargo, la
octava edición de la Conferencia Atlántica de Medio
Ambiente, cuya ayuda ha sido fundamental para aunar el crecimiento de las Canarias y la necesidad de
conservar el medio ambiente y los recursos naturales,
escondía una gran noticia. El anuncio de la puesta
en marcha del Plan de Ordenación de Recursos
Naturales supone un avance muy importante que,
en cuanto esté redactado, dará paso al proceso de
participación ciudadana.
En la actualidad, las Zonas Áridas de Fuerteventura
se encuentran entre los espacios que el Ministerio
de Medio Ambiente considera susceptibles de ser
declarados Parque Nacional. La culminación de este
proyecto supondrá el reconocimiento del quinto parque del archipiélago, por detrás de Las Cañadas del
Teide, Garajonay, Timanfaya y Taburiente.

The National Park of Arid Areas faces the
final stretch of a long race
Over the past few years, Fuerteventura’s Cabildo
has been working on a Project that, until now, was
only a dream. But the moment has now come and the
National Park of Arid Areas in starting to materialise
and will be completed in two years time.
During this period, a multitasking team from the
Universidad Computense of Madrid will prepare the
first proposal, called the Plan de Ordenación de Recursos Naturales (PORN), that will be presented to
the Government. The team, lead by Francisco Díaz
Pineda, University professor of Ecology and president
of WWW/Adena, consists of 11 scientific groups.
Once their work is completed, the first phase of the
procedure will be finished and will be concluded by
the approval of a law in General Courts.
A LONG WAY
Fuerteventura’s Cabildo has been working on this
Project since 2003 in order to get the approval for a
Natural Park that would contain an area of 44.000
hectares all over the island, although most of it is situated on the coast of Barlovento. The area that aims
to get a high level of protection is where the largest
desert areas and semi desert area of the European
continent are situated. But this is not all, the protected
space also includes most of the endemic vegetal and
animal species of Fuerteventura and an island system
that has peculiar climate geomorphologic conditions.
However, not all aspects are positive. The area that
has been suggested by the Cabildo also has great
Natural resources that should be protected, but the
firing and army training fields of Pájara are situated
on its perimeter which is not permitted in an area
recognised as a National Park. Other aspects that
bring doubts are the fact that villages are not included
in the Parks.

Wrong turns
The complexity of the subject has been the cause
for many wrong turns in the past few years, despite
the back up of institutions such as the Environment
and Territorial Planning Council of the Canarian Government or the Environment Ministry.
Despite the collaboration of various groups, the
difficulty of the process and the lacks in its development have been protagonists of various confrontations within the regional Parliament. There are many
questions that are still up in the air such as the time
scale or the dimensions of the Park, although some
prohibitions have gone forward such as construction,
fishing and flying over the protected area.
The Canarian Government’s Environment and
Territorial Planning Councillor Domingo Berriel, ad-
mitted that “there is still a long way to go”. However,
the eighth edition of the Atlantic Environment Conference, whose help was fundamental to unite the
growth of the Canaries and the necessity of preserve
the environment and natural resources, was hiding
some great news. The announcement of the launch
of the Plan of Natural Resources represents a very
important advance, which once it is drawn up, will
make way for citizens’ participation.
At present, Fuerteventura’s Arid Areas are situated
within the areas that the Environment Ministry considers susceptible of being declared National Park. The
culmination of this project means the recognition of
the fifth park of the archipelago, after Las Cañadas
del Teide, Garajonay, Timanfaya and Taburiente.
Der Nationalpark der Trockengebiete steht
nach einem langen Weg vor der Endrunde
In den vergangenen Jahren hat der Cabildo von
Fuerteventura an einem Projekt gearbeitet, das bis
jetzt nicht mehr als ein Wunschtraum war. Aber nun
sieht es so aus, als ob der Nationalpark der Trockengebiete (Parque Nacional de las Zonas Áridas)
innerhalb von zwei Jahren eröffnet werden kann.
In dieser Zeit wird ein multidisziplinäres Team
der Universidad Complutense in Madrid ein Projekt
entwerfen, das heißt einen Raumordnungsplan für
die Naturpotenziale (PORN), welcher der Regierung
vorgelegt wird. Das aus 11 Wissenschaftlern bestehende Team wird von Francisco Diaz Pineda geleitet,
Professor für Ökologie der Complutense und Vorsitzender von WWW/Adena.
Mit der Fertigstellung dieser Arbeit wird die erste
Phase eines Verfahrens abgeschlossen sein, das mit
der Verabschiedung eines Gesetzes im spanischen
Parlament beendet wird.
EIN LANGER WEG
Seit dem Jahr 2003 hat der Cabildo von Fuerteventura an diesem Projekt gearbeitet um zu erreichen,
dass der Nationalpark anerkannt wird, der aus einer
Fläche von insgesamt 44.000 Hektar auf der Insel
bestehen würde. Allerdings gehört der größte Teil
zur Küste von Barlovento. Zu diesem Gebiet, das
zum Naturschutzgebiet erklärt werden soll, gehören
die größten wüstenartigen und halbwüstenartigen
Zonen Europas. Aber das ist noch nicht alles. In dem
geschützten Raum gibt es auch die überwiegende
Mehrheit der endemischen Arten der Flora und Fauna
von Fuerteventura sowie ein Inselsystem, das über
einzigartige klimatische und geomorphologische
Bedingungen verfügt.
Es sind jedoch nicht alle Aspekte positiv. Das vom
Cabildo vorgeschlagene Gebiet verfügt über bedeutende natürliche Werte, deren Schutz gerechtfertigt
ist, aber dort befindet sich auch das Schussfeld von
Pájara, welches in einem Nationalpark nicht gestattet
würde. Ein weiterer Aspekt, der zu Zweifeln führt, ist
die Tatsache, dass es in dem Park keine bewohnten
Siedlungen gibt.
FALSCHE SCHRITTE
Da diese Angelegenheit sehr kompliziert ist, wurden in den vergangenen Jahren mehrere falsche
Schritte unternommen. Dies geschah, obwohl das
Projekt von Institutionen wie dem Amt für Umwelt und
Raumordnung der Regierung der Kanaren und vom
Ministerium für Umwelt unterstützt wurde.
Obwohl an diesem Projekt verschiedene Gruppen
beteiligt sind, war es ein schwieriger Prozess, und es
fanden verschiedene Konfrontationen im regionalen
Parlament statt. Vieles ist noch nicht geklärt, zum
Beispiel die Größe des Nationalparks. Allerdings wurden schon einige Verbote beschlossen, dazu gehören
die Verbote, in dem geschützten Bereich zu bauen
oder zu fischen sowie ihn zu überfliegen.
Der Beauftragte für Umwelt und Raumordnung
der Regierung der Kanaren, Domingo Berriel, gab
zu, dass noch „ein langer Weg zurückgelegt werden
mus“, bevor etwas unterzeichnet wird. Bei der achten
atlantischen Umweltkonferenz, deren Hilfe wesentlich
war, um das Wachstum der Kanaren und den Schutz
der Umwelt und der natürlichen Ressourcen unter einen Hut zu bringen, gab es eine großartige Nachricht:
Es wurde die Erarbeitung des Raumordnungsplanes
für Naturpotenziale angekündigt. Dies ist ein großer
Fortschritt, denn sobald dieser fertig gestellt ist, wird
die Bürgerbeteiligung ermöglicht.
Heute liegen die Trockengebiete von Fuerteventura
in einer Gegend, die das Ministerium für Umwelt als
geeignet betrachtet, um zum Nationalpark erklärt
zu werden. Der erfolgreiche Durchführung dieses
Projektes wird mit der Anerkennung des fünften Nationalparks des Archipels zum Abschluss kommen,
nach Las Cañadas del Teide, Garajonay, Timanfaya
und Taburiente.

del hábitat integral
Del 4 al 8 de mayo la Feria de Madrid acogerá la
celebración de la sexta edición de Casa Pasarela,
pasarela de la vanguardia del hábitat que, organizada
por IFEMA y Acción Pasarela Promotores, recogerá
una exclusiva selección de las propuestas más
innovadoras de las primeras firmas y diseñadores
del mundo. Un variado y completo encuentro con
el mundo de la decoración que se desarrolla con el
objetivo de generar sinergias y favorecer un marco
de presentación de mayor atractivo para el visitante.
Casa Pasarela contribuye a generar un foro de
información y tendencias de vanguardia de características únicas en nuestro país. Un escaparate
multisectorial dirigido a los puntos de distribución,
proyectistas, diseñadores, productores y demás profesionales implicados en el mundo del diseño, y una
herramienta de promoción y marketing al servicio de
las mejores marcas.
La próxima edición del Salón presentará proyectos
a medida generados para los diferentes perfiles de
participantes. Uno de sus principales objetivos son los
operadores de Contract, para lo cual se ha destinado
un espacio diferenciado dentro de Casa Pasarela,
donde las empresas tendrán la oportunidad de mostrar sus últimos diseños. Además, en el marco de la
feria se celebrará el segundo Congreso Internacional
del Contract, organizado por el Grupo Via y Unex
(Asociación Empresarial del Hábitat, su Internacio-
nalización y el Contract), y con la colaboración de
IFEMA, donde se reunirán los principales operadores
de contract hotelero; residencial; de ocio y terciario,
de los países con mayor actividad en este ámbito.
En la próxima edición de CASA PARARELA, destacan, igualmente, los proyectos a medida generados
para los diferentes perfiles de participantes como
Abecederario, destinado a una selección de los
mejores diseñadores, editores, estudios y escuelas;
DomoPasarela, dedicada a empresas vinculadas
con la domótica e interiorismo, donde se mostrará
todas las tecnologías de vanguardia para el hogar y
edificios de última generación con el diseño como
eje fundamental; Aluzzina, un proyecto para dar
respuesta al mercado de la iluminación con el apoyo
de Anfalum –Asociación Española de Fabricantes
de Iluminación–. Ecohabitat, para las empresas

This is a varied and complete encounter with the
world of interior design that is developed with the
objective of generating synergies and promoting a
more attractive layout for visitors.
Casa Pasarela generates an avant-garde information and tendency forum for the unique Spanish
characteristics. A multi-sector showcase aimed at
distributors, project managers, designers, producers
and other professionals involved in the world of design, and a promotional and marketing tool for the
best brands.
The next edition of the Exhibition will present
made to measure projects created for the different

Projekt, um dem Beleuchtungsmarkt einen Anstoß zu

(Spanischer Verband der der Beleuchtungsfabrikanten). Ecohabitat ist für Unternehmen, die sich mit
nachhaltigen Projekten befassen. Contr+Arqt wendet
sich an Unternehmen, die mit Contract, Architektur
und Ausstattung zu tun haben.
Außerdem wird die III. Econciencia präsentiert, die
von IDAE (Institut für Diversifizierung und Energiesparen) und dem Ministerium für Industrie gesponsert
wird. Diese Ausstellung ist darauf ausgerichtet, die
Bewusstseinsbildung im Bereich des Energiesparens

Se puede acceder a las grutas caminando sobre las rocas y mejor aún
nadando para poder contemplar sus

en calma. El Mirador, desde el que se
aprecia un paisaje fuerte de rocas mar

De camino hacia Ajuy, encontramos el
precioso valle de la Vega de Río Palma
y con el Santuario de la Virgen de la
Peña, patrona de la Isla, al que acuden
en masiva romería los peregrinos en el
mes de septiembre, y el Barranco de
las Peñitas donde se recoge el agua de
lluvia de forma natural.

swimming there in order to be able to
admire the interior of the caves. From
the Mirador you will have the best view
of the cliffs, the sea and the small
beach of this tiny typical fishing village.
On the way to Ajuy, you will go through
the magnificent valley of Vega de Rio
Palma where you can visit the «Virgen
de la Peña» Sanctuary, patron saint of
the Island. This is where many pilgrims
come during the month of September,
as well as at the Barranco de la Peñitas
where the rain water gets accumulated naturally.

das schöne Tal von Vega Río de Palma
an der heiligen Jungfrau Virgen de la
Peña vorbei, zu der die Pilger im Monat
September eine Pilgerfahrt machen. Weiter durch die Schlucht Barranco de
las Peñitas wo auf natürlicher Weise
das Regenwasser in Bächen aus den
Bergehängen hervortritt.

La isla acoge la XXIV edición de la Feria de
Agricultura, Ganadería y Pesca
La Granja Agrícola y Experimental de Pozo Negro acoge, del 15 al 18 de abril, la XXIV Feria de
Agricultura, Ganadería y Pesca de Fuerteventura
(Feaga). Organizada por la Consejería de Agricultura, Ganadería, Pesca y Medio Ambiente del Cabildo
de Fuerteventura, este punto de encuentro para el
sector primario vuelve a celebrarse tras ser suspendida la edición de 2009 debido a las restricciones
en los presupuestos. En 2009, y con una reducción
presupuestaria del 40%, la Consejería de Agricultura,
Ganadería y Pesca decidió eliminar del calendario la
feria para poder seguir adelante con el desarrollo de
otro tipo de acciones directas que, ante aquella situación, entendieron que eran las más beneficiosas para
el sector. Además, y de cara al futuro, se consensuó
apostar por una convocatoria bienal de Feaga.
Anteriormente, la feria solo había faltado a su cita
en una ocasión, al dejar de celebrarse debido a la
recomendación de Sanidad, que aconsejó no seguir
adelante con la reunión ganadera debido al riesgo
que suponía la coincidencia con la epidemia de las
vacas locas.
Edición 2010
Este año 2010, la XXIV Feria de Agricultura, Ganadería y Pesca vuelve a la isla. El objetivo sigue siendo
el mismo, mantenerse como uno de los grandes
acontecimientos del año en la isla de Fuerteventura
y seguir mejorando para lograr ser el referente, en las
Islas Canarias, en cuanto al sector primario se refiere.
Para ello, la organización sigue analizando año tras
año sus fallos y aciertos con el fin de ir adaptando
la estructura de la feria a las necesidades reales de
las empresas y profesionales del sector.
En esta edición, y en el mismo recinto ferial, se
incluye el VIII Concurso Nacional de Quesos de Leche de Cabra Premios Tabefe Fuerteventura. Este
acontecimiento es una auténtica competición entre

los mejores quesos de leche de cabra, así como una
plataforma para difundir la calidad y los valores de
este producto.
Feaga no olvida los dulces tradicionales y, en este
sentido, ha reservado un espacio destinado, específicamente, a los productos de repostería majorera,
las instituciones y las entidades colaboradoras. Para
completar la lista de alicientes de esta convocatoria,
presenta una novedad destacada: el Mercado Agrícola La Biosfera. Este mercado, que desde finales de
febrero se celebra de forma quincenal, abre ahora
sus puertas el primer y tercer sábado de cada mes.
Su coincidencia con la feria permite contar con una
amplia representación de la agricultura.
La Biosfera nació con la intención de favorecer y facilitar el acceso de los consumidores a la producción
del sector primario de Fuerteventura, sin olvidar el
incentivo que este evento supone para los ganaderos, los agricultores y los pescadores. Gracias a este
apoyo este colectivo logra un mejor rendimiento de
su trabajo al poner al alcance de los consumidores
productos de primera calidad sin la necesidad del
trabajo de los intermediarios.

The island welcomes the 24th Edition of the
Agriculture, Livestock and Fishing Fair
The Experimental farm of Pozo Negro welcomes
between 15th and 18th April, the 24th Agriculture,
Livestock and Fishing Fair of Fuerteventura (Feaga).
This event is organised by Fuerteventura’s Cabildo’s
Agriculture, Livestock, Fishing and Environment Coun-
cil and this meeting for the primary sector is being
celebrated again despite the fact that it was cancelled
last year due to budget restrictions. With a 40% budget reduction in 2009, the Agriculture, Livestock and
Fishing council decided to eliminate the fair from their
event calendar in order to continue developing other
types of initiatives that were deemed more important
for the sector in this situation. Furthermore, for the
future it was agree to make Feaga a biennial event.
Previously, the fair had only been cancelled once
for Health and Safety reasons, when it was recommended not to organise the event because if the risk
of mad cow disease.
2010 Edition
This year, the 24th Agriculture, Livestock and
Fishing Fair comes back to the island. The objective
remains the same, to be one of the main events of
the year on the island of Fuerteventura and continue
improving in order to be a reference in the Canary Islands for the primary sector. To do so, the organisation
continues analysing year after year the failures and
successes in order to adapt the structure of the fair
to the actual necessities of businesses and professionals of the sector.
In this edition, and within the same fairground,
the 8th National Goat Cheese Tabefe Fuerteventura
Awards Championship is being organised. This event
is an authentic competition between the best goat
cheeses, as well as a platform to disseminate the
quality and values of this product.
Feaga does not forget about the traditional deserts
and has actually reserved a specific space destined to
Majorero baking confectionery, and the collaborating
institutions and entities. In order to complete the
event’s list of incentives, a novelty has been added:
The Biosphere Agricultural Market. This market,
which, since the end of February, is organised every
fortnight, now opens its doors on the first and third
Saturday every month. Its coincidence with the fair
ensures a large representation of agriculture.
The Biosphere market was created in order to
improve and provide easy access to consumers to
the production of Fuerteventura’s primary sector, not
forgetting the incentive that it represents for livestock
farmers, and fishermen. Thanks to this support those
professionals get better returns on their work by bringing to consumers first class products without having
to use middlemen.

Die XXIV. Messe für Landwirtschaft, Viehzucht und
Fischerei von Fuerteventura (Feaga) findet vom 15.
bis zum 18 April auf dem experimentellen Bauernhof von Pozo Negro statt. Dieser Treffpunkt für die
Branche, der vom Amt für Landwirtschaft, Viehzucht,
Fischerei und Umwelt des Cabildo de Fuerteventura,
organisiert wird und 2009 wegen Budgetkürzungen
abgesagt worden war, findet nun wieder statt. Im Jahr
2009 hatte das Amt für Landwirtschaft, Viehzucht
und Fischerei, dem sein Haushalt um 40% gekürzt
worden war, beschlossen, diese Messe zu streichen,
um stattdessen andere Aktionen durchführen zu
können, die in dieser Situation für die Branche vorteilhafter waren. Außerdem wurde damals beschlossen,
Feaga alle zwei Jahre zu veranstalten.
In der Vergangenheit ist diese Messe erst ein einziges Mal abgesagt worden, als das Amt für Gesundheit
während der BSE-Epidemie davon abgeraten hatte,
sie zu veranstalten.
Messe 2010
Im Jahr 2010 kehrt die XXIV. Messe für Landwirtschaft, Viehzucht und Fischerei auf die Insel zurück.
Die Veranstalter möchten, dass die Messe zu den
wichtigsten Veranstaltungen des Jahres auf Fuerteventura gehört. Gleichzeitig haben sie vor, diese
Veranstaltung zu verbessern, um zu erreichen, dass
sie ein Referenzpunkt für den Primärsektor wird.
Deshalb untersuchen die Veranstalter jedes Jahr
die Fehler und Erfolge, um die Struktur der Messe
an die wirklichen Bedürfnisse der Unternehmen und
Fachleute des Sektors anzupassen.
Dieses Jahr findet auf dem Messegelände auch der
VIII. nationale Wettbewerb für Ziegenkäse statt, bei
dem die „Premios Tabefe Fuerteventura“ verliehen
werden. Hier konkurrieren die besten Ziegenkäsesorten gegeneinander, außerdem dient das Ereignis als
Plattform, um diese hochwertigen Produkte bekannt
zu machen.
Feaga vergisst auch die traditionellen Süßigkeiten
nicht und hat deshalb einen Raum für die Feinbäckereiwaren aus Fuerteventura sowie für die damit
verbundenen Institutionen und zusammenarbeitenden Einrichtungen reserviert. Ein weiterer Anreiz der
diesjährigen Messe ist der Markt „La Biosfera“. Dieser
Markt findet seit Ende Februar alle 2 Wochen statt,
und zwar am ersten und dritten Samstag jeden Monats. Da er während der Messe stattfindet, wird man
dort zahlreiche landwirtschaftliche Produkte finden.
La Biosfera wurde gegründet, damit die Verbraucher leichter an Produkte des Primärsektors von
Fuerteventura kommen. Außerdem ist der Markt auch
für Viehzüchter, Bauern und Fischer sehr interessant,
denn so können sie den Verbrauchern erstklassige
Produkte verkaufen, ohne Vermittler heranziehen zu
müssen.

Freda Jane y David Salmon – Artesanos de joyería en plata
“La gente no comprende la diferencia entre
un trabajo artesano y otro realizado en serie”
Pocas veces entrevistamos a un matrimonio tan
compenetrado artísticamente como el de Jane y
David; ambos se dedican al diseño y elaboración
de orfebrería en plata y en algunos casos piezas en
cobre. Pero lo más interesante es que antes de conocerse ya trabajaban la artesanía de varias maneras
en su pequeña ciudad en la isla de Arran en Escocia.
Por lo que nos cuenta su hijo Conal de trece años,
que ejerce de traductor con mucha gracia y habilidad,
esta pequeña isla de Escocia es de tradición artesana
y sus padres se han dedicado toda su vida, más de
30 años, a este bello trabajo, mezcla de arte y técnica
que es la orfebrería.
La parte más dura del taller, el moldeado del metal,
la realiza David y el ensamblaje final es la tarea más
habitual de Freda Jean.
Ambos crean el diseño, lo discuten, hasta darle la
forma final y después comienza su elaboración. Nos
insisten en que lo más importante es que no hacen
las piezas en serie, a través de los clásicos moldes,
son trabajos realizados uno a uno por lo que no se repiten demasiado y sobre todo no son del todo iguales.
David nos explica que estudió zoología en la Universidad y que esto ha marcado una importante
influencia en sus diseños.
Freda Jean nos dice por su parte que creció rodeada de artesanía, en un lugar donde se valoran mucho
estos trabajos realizados a mano. Su vocación se
vio potenciada cuando una amiga suya, siendo muy
joven, la invito a una feria de artesanía en Edimburgo.
Decidió que siempre se dedicaría a ello.
Ambos nos cuentan que habitualmente exhibían
sus creaciones por los castillos de Escocia y que
incluso la reina Isabel de Inglaterra llego a visitar
sus obras.
Jean, ¿cuando decidieron venir a vivir a Fuerteventura?
Hace seis años. Queríamos más calor y sol y este lugar nos pareció adecuado, además es tranquilo para
educar a un niño y para vivir. Nos gustan las islas y
estamos acostumbrados a vivir en ellas y el sistema
nos recuerda nuestro isla pero con mejor clima.
¿Tienen sus diseños influencia del arte celta o de
joyas antiguas de su país?
Algunos diseños con espirales, si pueden parecer
de origen celta, pero en general, preferimos trabajar
sobre nuestros propios y personales diseños.
¿Dónde se pueden adquirir estos preciosos trabajos en plata?
Antes asistíamos a las ferias y mercadillos, pero
ahora donde estamos, siempre para nuestros clientes y personas interesadas, es en la feria artesanal
que se realiza cada domingo en el centro comercial
El Campanario.
A los turistas les encanta este centro y visitarlo los
domingos y yo quiero dar las gracias a El Campanario
por darnos a los artesanos la oportunidad de tener
un sitio de referencia para exponer nuestros trabajos.
También fuera de Fuerteventura en nuestra isla de
Escocia, mi madre mantiene una tienda donde vende
nuestros trabajos.
¿No han pensado en exponer en algunos importantes hoteles de la isla?
Sí, nos gustaría pero no es muy fácil contactar con
ellos y tampoco nosotros podemos desplazarnos a
menudo muy lejos, pues Conal no debe faltar a clase.
¿Y llegar al público a través de las tiendas especializadas?
Nos gusta tratar con nuestros clientes directamente en la venta y poder explicarles diferentes cosas
sobre la realización o el significado de cada pieza, y
además si vendiéramos en las tiendas el precio se
vería forzosamente incrementado.
David, ¿cómo se producen estas joyas, cual es el
proceso?
Compramos las láminas de plata y a base de
martillo y fuego les vamos dando la forma deseada.
Es un trabajo lento y totalmente manual. A veces la
gente no comprende la diferencia entre un trabajo
artesano y otro realizado en serie, solo compara
precios, sin darse cuenta de la diferencia artística
que hay entre ambos.

“Sometimes people don’t understand the
difference between handmade and mass
production items”
We have rarely interviewed a couple that is so unified artistically as that of Jane and David; they both
dedicate themselves to the design and production of
silver jewellery and some pieces of copper. But the
most interesting is that before knowing each other
David explains that he studied zoology at University
which has a great influence on his designs.
Freda Jean tells us that she grew up surrounded
by handcraft makers in a place where hand made
creations were valued a lot. Her vocation grew in
strength when she was quite young and when one of
her friends invited her to a handcraft fair in Edinburgh.
She decided that she would dedicate her life to it.
They explain that they normally exhibit their creations in castles in Scotland and that Queen Elizabeth
II has seen their creations.
Freda Jane, when did you decide to come and live
in Fuerteventura?
Six years ago. We were looking for warmer and
sunny weather and this place seemed adequate and
also quiet enough to bring up a child and live. We like
islands and we are used to living on them, the system
also reminds us of our island but with better climate.
Are your designs influenced by Celtic art or ancient jewellery from your country?
Some pieces with spirals can look like they are of
Celtic origins but as a general rule we prefer working
on our own personal designs.
Where can we buy those beautiful silver creations?
We used to attend fairs and markets, but we now
meet our clients and people interested at the handcraft fair that takes place each Sunday in El Campanario commercial centre.
Tourists enjoy this centre and like to visit it on
Sundays and I would like to thank El Campanario for
giving us, handcraft makers, the opportunity to have
a reference meeting point to exhibit our creations.
they were already handcraft makers in various ways
in their little town of Arran in Scotland. From what their
thirteen year old son Conal, who acts as translator
with a lot of grace and skill, tells us, handcraft making
is traditionally very present on this little island in Scotland and his parents have dedicated their whole life,
over 30 years, to silverwork, this beautiful occupation,
which a mixture of art and technique.
The most difficult area of the workshop, metal moulding, is carried out by David and the final assembling
is mostly carried out by Freda Jean.
They both take part in the design creation, they talk
about it until they get to the final shape and they then
start the elaboration. They insist in pointing out that
they don’t make mass production pieces with classic
moulds. Pieces are created one by one which means
that they are not repeated often and most importantly
they are never identical.
Apart from Fuerteventura, my mother runs a shop on
our island in Scotland where they sell our creations.
Have you not thought of exhibiting in some of the
important hotels on the island?
Yes, we would have liked to but it is not easy getting
in touch with them and we cannot move around too
often too far as Conal cannot not miss schooldays.
How about reaching client through specialised
shops?
We like to deal with our clients directly when selling
and explain the different processes in the creation or
the meaning of each piece. Furthermore if we sold our
creations in shops, prices would increase seriously.
We buy sheets of silver and with hammers and
fire we shape them to the desired design. It is very
slow work and completely done manually. Sometimes people don’t understand the difference bet-
ween handmade and mass production items, they
only compare the price without noticing the artistic
difference between them.

Einige Entwürfe mit Spiralen scheinen einen keltischen Ursprung zu haben, aber normalerweise
machen wir lieber unsere eigenen Ideen.
Wo kann man diese schönen Silberarbeiten
kaufen?
Früher gingen wir zu verschiedenen Messen und
Märkten, aber jetzt sind wir immer bei der Kunsthandwerkermesse, die jeden Sonntag im Einkaufszentrum
El Campanario stattfindet. Dort erwarten wir unsere
Kunden und alle, die an unserer Arbeit interessiert
sind.
Die Touristen lieben dieses Einkaufszentrum und
gehen gerne sonntags dahin. Ich möchte mich bei El
Campanario bedanken, weil es uns Kunsthandwerkern einen eigenen Bereich zur Verfügung stellt, wo
wir unsere Arbeiten ausstellen können.
Wir verkaufen unsere Arbeiten nicht nur auf Fuerteventura, sondern auch auf unserer Insel in Schottland. Meine Mutter hat ein Geschäft, wo sie unsere
Arbeiten verkauft.
Haben Sie noch nicht daran gedacht, in einigen
der wichtigen Hotels der Insel auszustellen?
Doch, das würden wir gerne tun, aber es ist nicht
leicht, sich mit den Hotels in Verbindung zusetzen,
und wir können auch nicht sehr weit fahren, denn
Conal darf nicht in der Schule fehlen.
Sie könnten auch in Fachgeschäften verkaufen?
Wir mögen den direkten Kontakt zu unseren
Kunden beim Verkauf. So können wir ihnen besser
erklären, wie jedes einzelne Stück hergestellt wurde
und was es darstellt. Außerdem müssten wir unsere
Arbeiten in Geschäften teurer verkaufen.
David, wie wird dieser Schmuck hergestellt?
Wir kaufen Silberplättchen, die wir mit dem Hammer über dem Feuer formen. Es ist eine langsame und
ganz und gar manuelle Arbeit. Manchmal verstehen
die Leute den Unterschied zwischen Kunsthandwerk
und Serienarbeit nicht, sondern vergleichen nur die
Preise, ohne zu merken, dass zwischen beiden ein
qualitativer Unterschied besteht.
Wir haben selten ein Ehepaar interviewt, das auf
künstlerischer Ebene so vereint ist wie Jane und David. Beide machen die Entwürfe und stellen Arbeiten
aus Silber und Kupfer her. Es ist besonders interessant, dass die beiden, schon bevor sie sich kennenlernten, auf verschiedene Arten als Kunsthandwerker
in ihrer kleinen Stadt auf der schottischen Insel Arran
arbeiteten.
Ihr dreizehnjähriger Sohn Conal, der fähig und
anmutige übersetzt, erzählte uns, dass auf dieser
kleinen schottischen Insel eine kunsthandwerkliche
Tradition besteht und dass seine Eltern sich ihr
ganzes Leben, mehr als 30 Jahre, der Silberschmiedekunst gewidmet haben, dieser schönen Arbeit, ,
die einer Mischung aus Kunst und Technik darstellt.
In der Werkstadt führt David den härtesten Teil
der Arbeit aus, die Formung des Metalls, während
die Endmontage normalerweise die Aufgabe von
Freda Jean ist.
Beide machen den Entwurf und besprechen alles,
bis die endgültige Form feststeht. Dann beginnt die
Herstellung. Sie bestehen darauf, dass das wichtigste
ist, dass sie keine Serienarbeiten nach klassischen
Modellen machen, sondern die Stücke einzeln anfertigen, die nie genau gleich aussehen.
David erzählt uns, dass er an der Universität Zoologie studiert hat und dass diese Tatsache sein Werk
stark beeinflusst hat.
Freda Jean dagegen erzählt uns, dass sie in einem
Kunsthandwerkermilieu aufgewachsen ist, an einem
Ort, wo manuell hergestellte Gegenstände sehr
geschätzt wurden. Ihre Berufung wurde gestärkt,
als sie in ihrer Jugend von einer Freundin zu einer
Kunsthandwerksmesse in Edinburgh eingeladen
worden war. Damals beschloss sie, sich dieser Arbeit
zu widmen.
Beide erzählen uns, dass sie ihre Arbeiten oft in
den Schlössern Schottlands ausgestellt haben und
dass sogar Königin Elisabeth II. von England ihre
Werke gesehen hat.
Jean, wann haben Sie beschlossen, nach Fuerteventura zu ziehen?
Vor sechs Jahren. Wir wollten in die Wärme, und
dieser Ort erschien uns geeignet. Außerdem ist es ein
ruhiger Ort, wo man gut ein Kind erziehen und leben
kann. Wir mögen Inseln und sind daran gewöhnt,
auf ihnen zu leben. Das System hier erinnert uns an
unsere Insel, aber das Klima ist besser.
Werden Ihre Entwürfe von der keltischen Kunst
oder von altem Schmuck beeinflusst?

I Slalom “Circuito Gesdemupa/Ayuntamiento
de Pájara”
El sábado, día 10 de abril de 2010, comenzarán las
pruebas deportivas a organizar por la escudería Maxo
Sport en la isla en el que será su vigésimo primer
año organizando eventos deportivos automovilísticos
en la isla majorera. El inicio se realizará con la celebración del I Slalom “Circuito GESDEMUPA - Ayto. de
Pájara”, una prueba que será valedera para el XIV
Campeonato de Circuitos de Tierra de Fuerteventura
que tendrá tres pruebas más en su desarrollo.
Las verificaciones técnicas y administrativas se
realizarán en el parking del circuito realizándose la
entrega de trofeos en el mismo lugar. En el plano
deportivo siempre llama poderosamente la atención
la participación y presentación de nuevos equipos y
nuevas monturas siendo lo más destacado la vuelta
al mundo de la competición de Manuel Gutiérrez y
Francisco Cabrera a bordo de una montura mundialista y en un flamante Mitsubishi EVO VII.
A partir de ahora habrá dos clasificaciones en el
Rallye que se celebre. Primero tomarán la salida
los equipos que participan en el Campeonato de
Canarias y que tendrán una clasificación específica.
En segundo lugar saldrán los equipos que formen
parte del Campeonato Insular de Fuerteventura y
que también tendrán una clasificación diferenciada.
El próximo 8 de mayo se celebrará el II Slalom
Circuito de Antigua.
First Slalom “Gesdemupa Circuit – Ayuntamiento of Pájara”
The trials organised by Maxo Sport Motor-racing
team will start on Saturday 10th April 2010 for their
twenty first time organising motor racing events on the
Majorero island. The beginning will coincide with the
first Slalom “Circuito GESDEMUPA - Ayto. de Pájara”,
which will be a qualifying stage for the 14th Rally Dirt
Track Championship in Fuerteventura that consists
of three more stages.
The technical and administrative checks will be
carried out in the Circuit car park as well as the trophy
awards. During those sports events the participation
and presentation of new teams and new rally cars
always attract attention, the most impressive being
the return to the competition of Manuel Gutiérrez
and Francisco Cabrera with their notorious Mitsubishi
EVO VII.
From now on there will be two classifications in

this Rally. The teams that participate in the Canaries Championship and that will be given a specific
classification will come out first. Then the teams that
participate in Fuerteventura’s Championship that

Rallye statt. Zuerst starten die Mannschaften, die an
der Meisterschaft der Kanaren teilnehmen und eine
spezifische Klassifizierung bekommen. Danach starten die Mannschaften, die an der Inselmeisterschaft
von Fuerteventura teilnehmen und für die auch eine
spezifische Klassifizierung besteht.
Am 8. Mai findet der II. Slalom auf der Rennstrecke
von Antigua statt.

Am Samstag den 10. April 2010 beginnen die sportlichen Prüfungen, die von dem Rennstall Maxo Sport
durchgeführt werden, welcher seit 21 Jahren auf der
Insel Fuerteventura Autosport-Events organisiert.
Zuerst findet der I. Slalom “Autorennen GESDEMUPA

El Ayuntamiento ofrece la disponibilidad de parcelas debidamente señalizadas, ubicadas en Pozo
Negro, con unas dimensiones apropiadas para la
instalación no permanente de casetas, caravanas o
similares para uso exclusivo como lugar de acampada, siendo los permisos de temporada correspondientes al año 2010 desde el 24 de marzo hasta el 2 de
noviembre”, establece el primer punto de las bases
reguladoras publicadas.
Queda por tanto abierto el plazo de inscripción hasta el próximo 15 de marzo, para optar a las 71 plazas
que ofrece el camping de Pozo Negro a los vecinos
del municipio, una vez resuelta esta demanda, las
parcelas restantes se adjudicarán por riguroso orden
de solicitud a los vecinos de los restantes municipios.
El Ayuntamiento garantiza a los campistas los
servicios de baños públicos, duchas, agua, luz en la
zona de acampada de Pozo Negro.
Las personas interesadas en solicitar plaza deberán presentar la instancia en el Ayuntamiento,
junto a la fotocopia del D.N.I., y el certificado de
empadronamiento, y deberán respetar las normas
de limpieza, convivencia, seguridad, establecidas en
las bases reguladoras.
APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN FOR THE

The Ayuntamiento offers the possibility to obtain
a delimited plot in Pozo Negro, to accommodate
temporary huts, caravans or similar to be exclusively
used as camping ground, the permits for 2010 being
valid from 24th March until 2nd November.
Applications for the 71 spaces situated in Pozo
Negro are therefore open until 15th March for residents of the Municipality. Once those requests are

with public toilets, showers, water and electricity on

Persons interested in applying for a space should

cleanliness, cohabitation and safety as established
in the regulations.

ist”. Dies steht im ersten Punkt der veröffentlichten
Grundregeln.
Die Frist, um einen der 71 Campingplätze in Pozo
Negro zu beantragen, läuft bis zum 15. März. Nach
Bearbeitung der Anträge werden die Parzellen rigoros
nach der Reihenfolge der gestellten Anträge an die
Bürger der Gemeinden verteilt.
Die Gemeinde stellt den Nutzern dieser Leistungen
öffentliche Bäder, Duschen, Wasser, und Licht auf
dem Campingplatz von Pozo Negro zur Verfügung.
Interessierte Personen müssen ihren Antrag in der
Gemeinde zusammen mit einer Photokopie ihres
Personalausweises und einer Meldebescheinigung
vorlegen. Außerdem müssen sie die in den Grundregeln dargelegten Vorschriften über Sauberkeit,

OPORTUNIDADES
El pasado mes de marzo se presentó a los vecinos
el I Plan Municipal de Igual de Oportunidades que desarrollará en los próximos dos años el Ayuntamiento
a través de la Concejalía de Servicios Sociales.
Con el desarrollo del Plan de Igualdad se pretende
rescatar a los jóvenes de caer en tópicos sexistas
y errores de discriminación de género, y ayudar a
aquellas mujeres que tuvieron que abandonar su
formación, o su puesto de trabajo, por acatar el peso
de responsabilidades y compromisos familiares que
debieran ser compartidos.
FIRST MUNICIPAL PLAN OF EQUALITY OF
OPPORTUNITIES
In March, the First Municipal Plan of Equality of Opportunities which will be developed over the next two
years by the Ayuntamiento with the Social Services
Council was submitted to residents.
The Plan of Equality aims to make young people
aware of sexist or gender discrimination errors and
help women who had to stop their education or job
in order to comply with the heavy responsibilities and
family commitments that should have been shared.

The historic and cultural centre of Pájara welcomed
last month the hand craft market that was organised
by the Ayuntamiento’s Resident Participation and
Culture Councils. The market took place close to the
Ayuntamiento and the Church of Nuestra Señora de
Regla. Hand craft makers of the area exhibited their
creations of embroidery, articles made with palm tree
leaves, wood, crystal, leather, baskets, crochet, clay,
ceramic, etc. The objective of this initiative is to help
one of the depressed sectors of the island’s economy,
maintain the island’s hand craft wealth and introduce
hand craft products to tourists, who visit the Church of
Nuestra Señora de Regla in great numbers every day.

Im historischen Stadtkern fand im März ein Kunsthandwerkermarkt statt, der von den Ämtern für Bürgerbeteiligung und Kultur der Gemeinde organisiert

aufgebaut. Kunsthandwerker aus diesem Ort stellten

Palmblättern, Holz, Kristallglas, Leder, Korbflechterei,

strukturschwachen Sektoren unserer Wirtschaft geholfen werden, weiterhin unser wunderbares traditionelles

En Morro Jable se puso en marcha el Curso de
Confección de Trajes Típicos el pasado mes de febrero en el que una treintena de personas asisten
a sus clases, que también se desarrollarán hasta el
próximo mes de junio.
Las instalaciones del Centro Cultural de La Lajita
acogerán, los martes y los jueves, el Curso de Confección de Trajes Típicos, propuesta formativa impulsada
por el Ayuntamiento, a través de su concejalía de
Cultura y con la colaboración de la Institución Insular.
Esta iniciativa, constará de 72 horas lectivas y que
será impartida por la experta en patronaje industrial
y amante de la vestimenta tradicional Ángeles Acosta
Cabrera.
Conocer las tortugas bobas, la Madre del Agua, el
Barranco, las Cuevas, la duna petrificada y los hornos
de cal de Ajuy, y el rico patrimonio vegetal y animal
de los espacios protegidos de Fuerteventura fueron
algunas de las actividades ofrecidas recientemente
por el Ayuntamiento, a través de su concejalía de
Medio Ambiente, y que llegará a varios centenares
de escolares de la localidad.
A los niños y niñas se les habló sobre la geología
del enclave, el complejo basáltico, la paleoduna, la
flora y la flora del lugar, y de mucho más. Espacios y
monumentos naturales también fueron expuestos al
alumnado, que disfrutó de un día en el que visitaron
los hornos de cal, el embarcadero y el Puerto de la
Peña, entre otros lugares.

Finding out about Loggerhead sea turtles, the Madre del Agua, the Barranco, the Cuevas, the fossilised
dunes and lime ovens of Ajuy and the rich vegetal and
animal heritage of Fuerteventura’s protected spaces
were some of the activities recently organised by the
Ayuntamiento through the Environment Council for
hundreds of schoolchildren of the area.
Children were told about the geology of the area, the
basalt complex, the paleodunes, the flora and fauna,
and much more. Natural spaces and monuments
where also explained to schoolchildren, who enjoyed
the day visiting lime ovens, the pier and Puerto de la
Peña and many more sites.

und die Kalköfen von Ajuy sowie den Reichtum der
Tier und Pflanzenwelt der Naturschutzgebiete von
Fuerteventura kennen.
Die Jungen und Mädchen erfuhren etwas über die
Geologie der Enklave, den Basaltkomplex, die Flora
und Fauna des Ortes und vieles mehr. Die Schüler besuchten auch Naturräume und Naturdenkmäler sowie
die Kalköfen, den Hafendamm und Puerto de la Peña.

garantizando mediante tareas de información y

The Ayuntamiento presented in March the 20 projects that will be executed out of the actions that are
included in the 2010 Local Investment Plan.
The projects include renovations of basic, environmental and cleaning services or specific initiatives
linked with new technologies.
20 new projects were presented that are added to
the 30 projects completed last year that aim to bring
services and infrastructures to residents in each
and every neighbourhood of the capital. The twenty
projects will create employment for 73 people along
the year.
During the World Consumer Rights Day that took
place on 15th March, the Ayuntamiento’s Commerce
and Consumer Council reminded Pájara’s residents
and visitors that the OMIC (Municipal Consumer Information Office) works to defend their rights.
The protection of consumers and users’ basic
rights, as per article nº 51 of the Spanish Constitution, obliges the State to defend people’s rights and
liberties.
The creation of Pájara’s OMIC last year aims to fulfil
this mandate and guarantees through information
and mediation with businesses and service providers,
the compliance with basic consumer rights.

En el marco de le Día Mundial de los Derechos de
los Consumidores y Usuarios, que se celebró el pasado día, 15 de marzo, la Concejalía de Comercio y
Consumo del Ayuntamiento recordaba a los ciudadanos y visitantes de Pájara que, desde la OMIC (Oficina
Municipal de Información al consumidor), trabaja en
favor de la defensa de sus derechos.
La protección de los derechos de los consumidores
y usuarios es un principio básico, según recoge la
Constitución Española en su artículo nº 51, que obliga
al Estado a asegurar a los ciudadanos sus derechos
y libertades en este ámbito.

El Ayuntamiento presentó el pasado mes de marzo

der Sanierung sowie bestimmte Initiativen im Bereich
der neuen Technologien.
Es wurden 20 neue Projekte präsentiert, die zu den
30 im vergangenen Jahr abgeschlossenen hinzukommen. Damit sollen in allen Stadtteilen der Hauptstadt
bürgernahe Dienstleistungen und Einrichtungen
gewährleistet werden.
Dank der zwanzig Projekte können im Laufe dieses
Jahres 73 Personen beschäftigt werden.
PLAN MUNICIPAL DE ANIMACIÓN A LA
LECTURA
El área infantil de la Biblioteca Pública Municipal
fue el escenario elegido presentar el Plan Municipal
de Animación a la Lectura que viene desarrollando la
Concejalía de Educación y Cultura del Ayuntamiento.
En esta primera fase del plan, que comenzó el
pasado marzo y se prolongará hasta el próximo 15
de abril, las actividades se centran en la visita de
los alumnos y alumnas de 3º de Primaria de los colegios del municipio que son recibidos en el recinto

bibliotecario con el cuentacuentos “Pitagorín y su
bibliomundo”, a cargo de su autora Ana Ramos. El
cuento gira en torno a las aventuras y desventuras
de un ratón de biblioteca y además de motivar a los
niños en el hábito de la lectura, pretende acercarlos
al uso correcto de la Biblioteca.
En una posterior fase del plan se programarán
distintas obras de teatro a celebrar en la propia
biblioteca, previsiblemente durante las mañanas
de los sábados, y que girarán también en torno a la
literatura infantil. Esta y otras actividades previstas
irán dirigidas también a toda la familia en un intento
en que todos los miembros de la misma se integren
en el fomento de la lectura, orientándolos en la utilización de pautas y técnicas para despertar entre los
más jóvenes de la casa la curiosidad por los libros.
CAMPAÑA DE RECICLAJE DEL ACEITE DE
USO DOMÉSTICO
La Concejalía de Medioambiente del Ayuntamiento
de Puerto del Rosario, se presentó la campaña de
reciclaje del aceite de uso doméstico.
MUNICIPAL READING MOTIVATION PLAN
The children section of the Municipal Public Library
was the chosen scene for the presentation of the Municipal Reading Motivation Plan which is developed by
the Ayuntamiento’s Education and Culture Council. In
the plan’s first phase, which started in March and will
be extended until 15th April, activities will consist in
schoolchildren of the 3º Primaria of the municipality’s
schools visiting the library for the story telling of “Pitagorín y su bibliomundo” by its author Ana Ramos.
The story relates the adventures and misfortunes of
a library mouse and in addition to motivating children
to read, this initiative aims at teaching children how
to use the Library properly.
In a posterior phase of the plan, various theatre
plays will be organised in the library on Saturday
mornings which will also be related to children literature. This and more activities will also be organised
for the whole family in order to motivate all members
of the family to read more, showing them techniques
to wake up the curiosity for books in the youngest
members of the family.

DES LESENS
Der Gemeindeplan zur Förderung des Lesens, der
vom Amt für Bildung und Kultur entwickelt wird, wurde
in der Kinderabteilung der öffentlichen Bibliothek
vorgestellt.
In dieser ersten Phase des Plans, die im März
begann und bis zum 15. April dauern wird, sind die
Aktivitäten auf Besuche der Schüler und Schülerinnen
aus der dritten Grundschulklasse der Schulen der Gemeinde konzentriert. Diese werden in der Bibliothek
mit dem Märchen „Pitagorin und seine Bücherwelt“
von der Autorin Ana Ramos empfangen. Das Märchen
handelt von den Abenteuern und Missgeschicken einer Leseratte. Die Kinder sollen nicht nur zum Lesen
gebracht werden, sondern auch lernen, wie man eine
Bibliothek richtig benutzt.
Für eine spätere Phase des Plans werden verschiedene Theaterstücke geplant, die vermutlich Samstag
Vormittag in der Bibliothek aufgeführt werden und
auch mit Kinderliteratur zu tun haben. Diese und
weitere Aktivitäten sind für die ganze Familie gedacht.
Damit wird beabsichtigt, dass sich alle Mitglieder einer Familie an der Förderung des Lesens beteiligen.
Dabei werden sie über Leitbilder und Techniken informiert, um bei den Kleinsten die Neugier auf Bücher
zu erwecken.
Esta iniciativa se enmarca dentro de la línea de
acciones medioambientales y de sostenibilidad que
el Departamento municipal señalado viene emprendiendo a lo largo de la presente legislatura y que
incluyen tanto campañas de concienciación (fomento
del uso de bombillas de bajo consumo, reductores
de agua, separación de residuos, etc.) sino un mayor
rigor en el control de los comportamientos insolidarios como son el depósito incontrolado de residuos
y materiales, y cualquier otro aspecto que vulnere la
Ordenanza Municipal de Limpieza vigente.
La campaña incluye un folleto informativo sobre
los efectos nocivos de la contaminación del aceite de
uso alimentario en las aguas residuales de la red de
saneamiento, dificultando asimismo su depuración,
por lo que se hace necesario su correcta eliminación
o reciclaje.
En este sentido la campaña contempla la presentación de los contenedores de recogida de aceite usado
que en número de 25 ya se encuentran ubicados en
las calles de la capital y en los distintos pueblos del
municipio.
Las ventajas del correcto reciclado del aceite usado
en la cocina de casa son múltiples como son la eliminación de un residuo altamente contaminante de la
red de alcantarillado, la facilidad de reutilización del
agua depurada, la no obstrucción de las tuberías en la
red de saneamiento, la reducción de la dependencia
energética del petróleo cuando este aceite reciclado
se utiliza como combustible y la creación de nuevos
productos y puestos de trabajo relacionados con la
gestión del aceite usado.
La campaña incluye el obsequio de un colador
adaptado a las botellas de plástico con formato
habitual para facilitar el depósito directamente de
la cocina. Este artículo, junto con la información pertinente será facilitado al usuario siempre que haya
suscrito su “Compromiso de Hogar Sostenible” en el
Ayuntamiento de Puerto del Rosario.
CAMPAIGN OF DOMESTIC OIL RECYCLING
The Ayuntamiento’s Environment Council of Puerto
del Rosario has presented its campaign of domestic
oil recycling.
This initiative comes within the line of environmental and sustainability actions that the council
has been carrying out during this term and includes
campaigns of awareness (use of low consumption
bulbs, water reduction, sorting household waste, etc.)
and a greater severity towards unruly behaviours such
as uncontrolled waste tipping and any other aspects
that can breach the current Municipal Cleaning Regulations.
The campaign includes an information pamphlet
about the damaging effects of culinary oil contamination in sewage water which makes its treatment
more difficult and therefore means that it should be
correctly disposed of and recycled.
The campaign includes containers created to collect used oil. There are 25 of them that are already in
pace in the streets of the capital and various villages
of the municipality.
There are many advantages of recycling correctly
used culinary oil such as the elimination of a highly
contaminating waste for drains, the ease to reuse
recycled water, ensuring that drains don’t get blocked,
the reduction of energy waste of the oil when the recycled oil is used as a combustible and the creation
of new products and jobs related to the management
of the used oil. The campaign includes a free strainer
adapted to normal plastic bottles in order to dispose
of the oil directly in the kitchen. This item and the
information will be handed out to people who have
subscribed a “Compromiso de Hogar Sostenible”
(Sustainable Home Agreement) at the Ayuntamiento
of Puerto del Rosario.
RECYCLING-KAMPAGNE FÜR HAUSHALTSÖL
Das Amt für Umwelt der Gemeinde von Puerto del
Rosario präsentierte die Recycling-Kampagne für
Haushaltsöl.
Diese Initiative findet im Rahmen der Aktionen für
Umweltschutz und Nachhaltigkeit statt, die das Amt
für Umwelt der Gemeinde während dieser Legislaturperiode durchführen wird. Dazu gehören Kampagnen für die Bewusstseinsbildung (Verwendung
von Sparbirnen, Wassereinsparung, Mülltrennung)
sowie eine stärkere Kontrolle von nichtsolidarischen
Verhaltensweisen wie unkontrolliertem Wegwerfen
von Müll und anderem Material sowie Missachtung
der gültigen Gemeindeverordnung für Sauberkeit.
Zu der Kampagne gehört eine Broschüre über die
schädlichen Folgen der Umweltverschmutzung durch
Haushaltsöl in der Kanalisation, durch die die Klärung
des Wassers erschwert wird. Deshalb ist es wichtig,
dieses Öl auf angemessene Weise zu entsorgen oder
zu recyceln
Dazu gehört die Aufstellung von Containern für gebrauchtes ÖL, von denen es schon 25 in den Straßen
der Hauptstadt und der verschiedenen zur Gemeinde
gehörenden Dörfer gibt.
Das Recyceln von Haushaltsöl hat zahlreiche
Vorteile: Es entlastet die Kanalisation, das Öl kann
leicht wieder verwendet werden, außerdem kann es
als Brennstoff dienen, wodurch wir weniger abhängig
vom Erdöl wären. Durch die Herstellung von Produkten aus wieder verwertetem Haushaltsöl können
auch Arbeitsplätze geschaffen werden.
Im Rahmen der Kampagne wird ein an normalgroße
Plastikflaschen angepasstes Sieb verschenkt, damit
das Haushaltsöl besser entsorgt werden kann. Dieser
Artikel wird zusammen mit den dazu gehörenden
Informationen all denjenigen Nutzern übergeben, die
die „Verpflichtung für einen nachhaltigen Haushalt“
im Rathaus von Puerto del Rosario unterzeichnen.

Programa de acogimiento familiar de Cruz
Roja
Cruz Roja, en colaboración con el Gobierno de Canarias ha puesto en funcionamiento recientemente
un programa de acogimiento familiar, con el fin de
dar un hogar y una familia de acogida a aquellos
menores en situación de desamparo tutelados por
el Gobierno de Canarias.
En Canarias hay más de 1000 menores en desamparo a la espera de una familia de acogida. El
principal objetivo de este programa es que estos
menores formen parte por un periodo de tiempo de
una familia, vivan en hogar estable y sientan el cariño
y el calor de un núcleo familiar.
El programa consiste en acogida temporal, es decir,
no hay opción de adopción, puesto que estas personas tienen a su familia biológica, que por circunstancias no pueden ofrecerles un hogar adecuado pero
existen y como tal les unen fuertes vínculos afectivos.
El programa responde a un convenio entre Cruz
Roja y el Gobierno de canarias, en el que se acuerda
que la ONG se haga cargo de la formación, información y selección de familias idóneas para formar
parte del proyecto, que está previsto se lleve a cabo
durante todo 2010.
El programa comienza con una campaña de sensibilización y captación, a través de la cual se dará
a conocer las situaciones problemáticas que sufren
los menores en situación de desamparo, a través de
mensajes claros, positivos y motivadores, informando sobre el acogimiento familiar, en familia ajena o
profesionalizado, como un recurso idóneo para la
protección de la infancia cuando el sistema familiar
no puede.
Las campaña está orientada también a apelar a
la solidaridad y compromiso poniendo de manifiesto
que realmente acoger a un menor en el seno de una
familia, no solo supone ser solidario con ese menor
que se lleva a casa, sino que sobre todo, se está
siendo solidario con una familia que atraviesa una
situación de dificultad y que le impide llevar a cabo
el ejercicio de sus funciones vitales.
Para ello el Programa intenta sensibilizar a la sociedad en general de las situaciones problemáticas que
presentan los menores en situación de desamparo.

The Red Cross Foster Home Programme
The Red Cross, in collaboration with the Canarian
Government, has recently put in place a family foster
programme that aims to give a foster home for minors who have suffered from neglect and are under
guardianship of the Canarian Government.
In the Canaries there are over 1000 neglected
children who are waiting for a foster home. The main
objective of this programme is for those children to
be part of a family for a while, to live in a stable home
and feel the kindness and warmth of a family.
The programme consists of temporary fostering,
there is no option of adoption, as those children
have got their own biological family, who because of
circumstances cannot offer them an adequate home
but they exist and therefore strong emotional bonds
unite them.
The programme responds to an agreement between
the Red Cross and the Canarian Government in which
it is agreed that the NGO takes care of the training,
information and selection of the families suitable for
the project that is expected to run during the whole
year 2010.
The programme starts with a sensibilisation and recruitment campaign, that will explain the problematic
situation that those children face, through clear, positive and motivating messages that give information
about fostering in an unconnected or professional
family as a suitable option for the protection of children when the family system breaks down.
The campain also aims to call on solidarity and
compromise by demonstrating that in actual fact to
foster a child within one’s family, does not only mean
to be supportive towards the child they take home, but
also to be supportive towards a family that is going
through a difficult situation that stops it from carrying
out its vital functions.

Das Pflegefamilienprogramm des Roten
Kreuzes
Das Rote Kreuz hat kürzlich zusammen mit der
Regierung der Kanaren ein Pflegefamilienaufnahmeprogramm geschaffen, um hilflosen Jugendlichen, die
unter der Vormundschaft der kanarische Regierung
stehen, ein Zuhause und eine Pflegefamilie zu geben.
Auf den Kanaren gibt es mehr als 1.000 hilflose
Minderjährige, die auf eine Pflegefamilie warten.
Mit dem Programm wird vor allem bezweckt, dass
diese Minderjährigen eine Zeit lang zu einer Familie
gehören, in einem stabilen Haushalt leben und die
Liebe einer Familie spüren.
Das Programm besteht aus einer befristeten Aufnahme, bei der keine Möglichkeit der Adoption besteht,
da diese Minderjährigen ihre biologischen Familien
haben, die ihnen aufgrund der Umstände kein Zuhause bieten können, aber dennoch existieren und sich
ihnen stark verbunden fühlen.
Das Programm entsteht durch ein Abkommen
zwischen dem Roten Kreuz und der Regierung der
Kanaren, in dem vereinbart wurde, dass die NGO
im Jahr 2010 für die Ausbildung, Information und
Auswahl der geeigneten Familie zuständig ist.
Das Programm beginnt mit einer Sensibilisierungskampagne, in der mit klaren, positiven und motivierenden Botschaften über die schwierige Lage der
hilflosen Minderjährigenen berichtet wird. Dabei
wird darüber berichtet, dass die Aufnahme in einer
Pflegefamilie oder professionelle Einrichtung die
ideale Lösung zum Schutz der Kindheit ist, wenn das
familiäre System nicht dazu in der Lage ist.
Mit der Kampagne wird auch angestrebt, die Solidarität und das Engagement der Bürger zu wecken.
Es wird erklärt, dass man, wenn man einen Minderjährigen in die eigene Familie aufnimmt, nicht nur
solidarisch mit diesem ist, sondern vor allem mit
einer Familie in einer schwierigen Lage, die nicht in
der Lage ist, ihre eigentliche Funktion auszuüben.
Deshalb wird versucht, mit dem Programm die
Gesellschaft für die schwierige Situation dieser Minderjährigen zu sensibilisieren.
