El Cabildo acomete la rehabilitación del
Hotel Fuerteventura - Playa Blanca

El Cabildo se encuentra finalizando la renovación
de la imagen del Hotel Fuerteventura - Playa Blanca, organismo que gestiona la propia Corporación
Insular. Esta iniciativa se coordina desde tres consejerías distintas, centrándose principalmente esta
rehabilitación exterior del edifico, en la renovación
del mobiliario y las instalaciones interiores y en el
acondicionamiento de los jardines.
Un equipo de operarios del Departamento de Obras
y Maquinaria del Cabildo, dependiente de la Consejería de Infraestructuras y Ordenación del Territorio,
se ha ocupado durante los últimos tres meses de
materializar un proyecto de rehabilitación en los
exteriores del hotel.
Manuel Miranda, consejero del área, explicaba que
“la apariencia del edificio se encontraba bastante
desmerecida, debido principalmente al continuo deterioro producido por el mar”. Los trabajaos se han
centrado en la rehabilitación de las fachadas, que

Der Cabildo von Fuerteventura ist dabei die Erneuerung des Hotels Fuerteventura - Playa Blanca,
in Angriff zu nehmen, einem Komplex, der von der
Inselregierung verwaltet wird. Diese Initiative, bei der
es hauptsächlich um die Renovierung der Außenansicht des Gebäudes, die Erneuerung der Möbel, der
Innenausstattung Einrichtungen und um die Herrichtung der Gärten geht, wird von drei verschiedenen
Ämtern koordiniert.
Ein Team von Angestellten des Departements für
Bauarbeiten und Maschinerie des Cabildo, das dem
Amt für Infrastrukturen und Raumordnung untersteht,
hat sich in den letzten drei Monaten darum gekümmert, ein Projekt für die Erneuerung der Außenansicht
des Hotels umzusetzen.
Manuel Miranda, der für diesen Bereich zuständige
Politiker, erklärte: „Das Äußere des Gebäudes war in
einem sehr schlechten Zustand, dies lag vor allem
daran, dass es ständig vom Meer beschädigt wurde“.
Die Arbeiten waren vor allem auf die Restaurierung
der Fassaden konzentriert, die neu angestrichen
wurden, auf die Behandlung und Restaurierung der
Tür- und Fensterrahmen und den Wiederaufbau der
äußeren Mauern “.
Das Hotel Fuerteventura - Playa Blanca, ein ehemaliger Parador Nacional, gehört zum Besitz des Cabildo der
Insel. Heute ist der Beauftragte für Sicherheit und Notfälle des Cabildo, Guillermo Concepción, dafür zuständig.

die fast fertig ist und demnächst funktionieren wird.
Bei der Renovierung des Gebäudes von innen werden
neue Plasmafernseher in den Zimmern installiert, wodurch das Gebäude TDT empfangen kann. Die Investitionen für die Verbesserung der Zimmer, das Auswechseln
der Vorhänge usw., müssen noch verabschiedet werden.

consejero de Seguridad y Emergencias del Cabildo,
Guillermo Concepción.
Concepción destacó la colaboración del Departamento de Obras en la realización de este proyecto, y
agregó que “la acción se está complementando con
otras inversiones en el interior del edificio”. Asimismo,
dijo, “se está promoviendo la renovación de la imagen
del hotel de cara a los potenciales visitantes, para lo
que se ha creado un nuevo logotipo que ya se está
utilizando, una nueva página web que está casi lista y
que comenzará a funcionar en las próximas fechas”.
Las reformas en el interior del inmueble se han
centrado en la instalación de nuevos televisores de
plasma en las habitaciones, con lo que se adapta
el inmueble a la emisión en TDT. Por otro lado, las
siguientes inversiones que restan por aprobar se centrarán en mejorar la apariencia de las habitaciones
con el cambio de cortinas, etc.

The Fuerteventura – Playa Blanca Hotel, previously
known as Parador Nacional, is part of the Cabildo’s
assets, and is currently managed by the Safety and
Emergency Councillor, Guillermo Concepción.
Guillermo Concepción pointed out the collaboration of
the Projects Department in this initiative and indicated
that “this initiative is being complemented by other investments inside the building”. Furthermore, he added that
“the renovation of the hotel’s image is being promoted to
potential visitors and a new logo has been created which
is already in use as well as a new web-page that is almost
ready and will start operating imminently”.
The refurbishment of the interior consists in new
plasma televisions in the rooms, the building has
therefore had to be adapted to received TDT signal.
On the other hand, some refurbishments are still
pending approval such as the improvement of the
rooms with new curtains, etc.
Fuerteventura’s Cabildo is currently finalising the
renovation of the Fuerteventura – Playa Blanca Hotel,
which is managed by the Cabildo. This initiative is coordinated by three separate councils and consists mainly
in renovating the building’s exterior, the renovation of
the furniture, the interior as well as the gardens.
A team of operatives from the Department of Projects and Machinery of the Cabildo that depends from
the Infrastructures and Territory Planning Council has
been carrying out the project of rehabilitation of the
hotel’s exterior.

Termina la temporada de cruceros con
65.000 pasajeros
El pasado miércoles 7 de abril, se ponía punto
final a la temporada de cruceros que comenzó en
septiembre del pasado año. Un total de 34 atraques
durante 7 meses trajeron al muelle de Puerto del
Rosario casi 65.000 turistas, una cifra muy similar
a la de la temporada anterior. En cuanto a la ocupación, los cruceros han llegado a Fuerteventura con
más pasajeros que en 2008/2009, alcanzando de
media un 89% frente al 83% anterior.
El buque Aida Luna, con capacidad para 2.500
personas, ha protagonizado la imagen de cada miércoles en el nuevo muelle de cruceros, pero también
ha contado con la presencia de otras embarcaciones
de alto nivel pertenecientes a importantes compañías
americanas como Royal Caribbean o Carnival.
Por otro lado, la apertura a principios de la temporada
que acaba de finalizar de la nueva oficina del Patronato
de Turismo situada en el mismo muelle de cruceros,
ha permitido dar a los cruceristas una información
completa y adaptada a sus necesidades a pie de barco.
Las previsiones para la próxima temporada de
cruceros que comienza en septiembre del presente
año y finaliza en abril de 2011 revelan un aumento
del 44% en el número de atraques en muelle de
Puerto del Rosario, esto es, frente a las 34 visitas
de buques que recibió la Isla en la temporada que
acaba de finalizar, se prevé incrementar la cifra hasta
49 atraques.
Gracias a las permanentes reuniones mantenidas
en las últimas ferias con las principales compañías
de cruceros, se ha logrado la presencia de nuevos
barcos para la próxima temporada, como el Mein
Schiff, un buque de Tui Cruises de bandera alemana que atracará en Puerto del Rosario el segundo
sábado de cada mes a partir del próximo noviembre.
Por otra parte, el porcentaje de excursiones contratadas por los cruceristas a su llegada a la Isla
experimentó un incremento del 1% con respecto a
la temporada anterior, lo que significa un total de
10.697 contrataciones.

The Cruises season that started last September
ended on Wednesday 7th April. A total of 34 stopovers on the island over a 7 months period brought
almost 65.000 tourists to the harbour of Puerto del
Rosario, a figure that is quite similar to last season’s
figures. As far as occupation is concerned, Cruises
that came to Fuerteventura brought more passengers
than in 2008/2009, representing an average of 89%
compared to 83%.
The ship Aida Luna, with a capacity of 2.500 people,
has become the new image of the harbour on Wednesdays, where other luxury ships from prominent
American companied such as Royal Caribbean or
Carnival also come to dock.
On the other hand, the opening of the new Tourist Board
office on the Cruise Boat Quay itself at the beginning of
the season ensured that tourists could get complete and
adequate information as soon as they got off the ship.
The forecasts for the next Cruises’ season starting
in September this year and ending in April 2011 show
an increase of 44% and 49 Cruise ship stopovers are
expected on the island compared to 34 for the season
that just ended.
Thanks to numerous meetings held over the last
fairs with the main Cruise ship companies, it has been
planned for new Cruise ships to stopover during the
next season, such as the Mein Schiff, a German Tui
Cruises’ ship that will stopover in Puerto del Rosario
on each second Saturday of the month from next
November onwards.
On the other hand, the percentage of excursions
that have been purchased by cruisers as they arrive
on the island has increased by 1% compared to the
previous season, which represents a total of 10.697

Am Mittwoch den 7. April endete die Kreuzfahrtsaison, die im September des vergangenen Jahres
begonnen hatte. Insgesamt 34 Mal legten Schiffe
innerhalb von 7 Monaten an und brachten an den Kai
von Puerto del Rosario fast 65.000 Touristen. Diese
Zahl ist ähnlich wie in der vorherigen Saison. Die
Kreuzfahrtschiffe legten auf Fuerteventura mit mehr
Passagieren an als 2008/2009 und ereichten eine
durchschnittliche Auslastung der Ankerplätze von
89% im Gegensatz zu den 83% der vorherigen Saison.
Das Schiff Aida Luna, mit einer Kapazität für 2.500
Personen sorgte jeden Mittwoch am neuen Anlegesteg für Aufsehen, aber es kamen auch andere
wichtige Schiffe, die bedeutenden amerikanischen
Unternehmen wie Royal Caribbean oder Carnival
gehören.
Außerdem wurde durch das zu Beginn der Saison
eröffnete Büro des Patronats für Tourismus, das am
Anlegesteg der Kreuzfahrtschiffe liegt, ermöglicht,
den Passagieren der Kreuzfahrtschiffe vollständige
Innformationen zu geben, die ihren Bedürfnissen
entsprechen.
Aus den Prognosen für die nächste Saison, die
im September diesen Jahres beginnt und im April
2011 endet, geht hervor, dass 44% mehr Schiffe im
Hafen von Puerto del Rosario anlegen werden. In der
nächsten Saison werden es voraussichtlich 49 mal
Schiffe anlegen.
Dank der Treffen mit den wichtigsten Gesellschaften für Kreuzfahrten bei den letzten Tourismusmessen wurde erreicht, dass weitere Schiff in der nächsten Saison kommen werden. Zu diesen gehört Mein
Schiff von Tui Cruises, das unter deutscher Flagge
fährt und ab November am zweiten Samstag jeden
Monats in Puerto del Rosario anlegen wird.
Außerdem machten die Passagiere der Kreuzfahrtschiffe 1% mehr Ausflüge als in der vorherigen Saison,
das bedeutet insgesamt 10.697 Vertragsabschlüsse.

El Cabildo restaura más de 300 gavias
El Departamento de Obras y Maquinaria del Cabildo
se encuentra finalizando en estas fechas una campaña de restauración de estructuras tradicionales de
cultivo que, tras nueve meses de trabajo, ha permitido
recuperar más de 300 gavias en el entorno de Agua
de Bueyes (Antigua), habilitando para su cultivo una
superficie de 328.722 metros cuadrados.
La labor de los tractores agrícolas de la Corporación comenzaba el pasado mes de junio de 2009,
ejecutándose desde entonces un minucioso plan de
trabajo recogido dentro del proyecto ‘Embellecimiento
del entorno natural de Fuerteventura’, que impulsa el
área de Infraestructuras del Cabildo en ésta y otras
zonas de la isla.
La localidad de Agua de Bueyes se encuentra en un
entorno privilegiado de biodiversidad vegetal, donde
se aúna la flora autóctona que crece de modo silvestre entre valles y laderas con la que se desarrolla
asociada a los cultivos tradicionales, en su mayoría
al cuidado de los habitantes del pueblo.
El exhaustivo plan de embellecimiento, que el Departamento de Obras y Maquinaria viene realizando
en los últimos meses en zonas como Guisguey, El
Time y La Matilla, ha sido realizado también anteriormente en antiguas zonas de cultivo de El Cardón, La
Pared o Tiscamanita.
El abandono de las estructuras tradicionales de
cultivo puede suponer un riesgo añadido de desertización para el territorio insular. La gavia, como elemento en el terreno, actúa como una balsa que ayuda
a mantener el agua de lluvia, evitando a un tiempo
la escorrentía y favoreciendo el enriquecimiento de
los acuíferos.
Trabajos. Cada tractor agrícola del Departamento
de Obras y Maquinaria puede recuperar una media de
tres gavias cada día. Su labor consiste principalmente
en rearmar los trastones (las paredes de tierra de las
gavias) y arreglar los portillos (apertura que queda
en la estructura de la gavia como consecuencia del
reboso del agua). Los otros dos elementos básicos de
la gavia son los desagües o aliviaderos (que permiten
evacuar la gavia cuando el agua alcanza un determinado nivel, evitando el derrumbe de los trastones) y
la torná (apertura para captar el agua).
Valles de Agua de Bueyes. En el entorno de Agua
de Bueyes se desarrolla un interesante entramado de
valles y laderas, entre los que se reconocen el Valle
de La Vega La Vieja, el Valle del Huerto, el conocido
como Valle de Peña Blanca, o el Valle del Garabato,
que comienza este último al otro lado del sistema de
montañas de Betancuria y que, siguiendo su curso
(con otros nombres), desemboca en la costa este en
la localidad de Pozo Negro.
Las gavias
El sistema de ‘gavias’ se remonta a la tradición de
cultivo de cereales de Fuerteventura, probablemente
por influencia norteafricana. En las islas más áridas
del Archipiélago y en las áreas áridas de sotavento de
las islas más húmedas, se desarrolló un sistema de
cultivo en ‘gavias’, que permitió optimizar el aprovechamiento de las lluvias para un mejor rendimiento
productivo de los terrenos de cultivo. Este sistema
se conserva en la actualidad en Fuerteventura y en
determinados puntos de Lanzarote.
Las gavias pueden considerarse como un importante sistema que aumenta la productividad biológica
del territorio mediante el uso sostenible del suelo y
del agua, contribuyendo a conservar la biodiversidad.
La estructura de las gavias permite crear espacios
cerrados, mediante muros de piedra seca en caso
de mayores desniveles o trastones de tierra, aprovechando los márgenes de los barrancos o laderas. De
esta manera se interceptan las aguas de escorrentía
cargadas con sedimentos y que son susceptibles de
ocasionar graves procesos erosivos. Esta agua quedan retenidas en la gavia sedimentando la fértil tierra
que transportan. El cerramiento se irá acrecentando
según pasen los años y aumente la potencia edáfica
de la gavia.
Der Cabildo restauriert

Das Departement für Bauarbeiten und Maschinen
des Cabildo schließt zurzeit eine Restaurierungskampagne für traditionelle Anbaustrukturen ab. Nach
neun Monaten konnten mehr als 300 Gavias in der
Gegend von Agua de Bueyes (Antigua) wieder in Ordnung gebracht werden, indem eine mehr als 328.722
Quadratmeter große Fläche hergerichtet wird.
Die Arbeit der Traktoren der Inselregierung begann
im Jahr 2009. Damals wurde ein genauer Arbeitsplan
im Rahmen des Projektes ‘Verschönerung der natürlichen Umgebung von Fuerteventura’ durchgeführt, der
vom Amt für Infrastrukturen des Cabildo für diesen
Teil der Insel geschaffen wurde.
Der Ort Agua de Bueyes liegt in einer privilegierten
Umgebung mit einer pflanzlichen Artenvielfalt, wo sich
die einheimische Flora, die wild zwischen Tälern und
Abhängen wächst, mit dem traditionellen Anbau mischt.
Der umfangreiche Verschönerungsplan, der vom
Amt für Bauarbeiten und Maschinerie in den letzten
Monaten in Gegenden wie Guisguey, El Time y La
Matilla durchgeführt wird, wurde vorher auch schon
in ehemaligen Anbaugebieten von El Cardón, La Pared
und Tiscamanita angewendet.
Wenn die traditionellen Anbaustrukturen aufgegeben werden, besteht das Risiko der Wüstenbildung
auf der Insel. Die Gavia ist ein Teil des Geländes, der
wie ein Wasserbecken wirkt, indem das Regenwasser
aufbewahrt wird. Dadurch werden einerseits Abtra-
gungen verhindert und gleichzeitig die Versorgung
der Wasserreservoirs gefördert.
Arbeiten. Jeder Traktor des Departements für
Bauarbeiten und Maschinerie kann ungefähr drei
Gavias pro Tag herrichten. Die Arbeit dieser Traktoren
besteht hauptsächlich darin, die Erdwände der Gavias
wieder aufzubauen und die Portillos (Öffnung der
Struktur der Gavia) in Ordnung zu bringen. Außerdem
haben die Gavias Abflüsse (durch die das Wasser
abfließen kann, wenn es eine bestimmte Höhe erreicht, damit die Mauern nicht umfallen) und die Torná
(Öffnung um Wasser zu sammeln).
Täler von Agua de Bueyes. Die Umgebung von Agua
de Bueyes besteht aus einem interessanten Gebilde
aus Tälern und Abhängen, zu denen Valle de La Vega
La Vieja, Valle del Huerto, Valle de Peña Blanca und
Valle del Garabato gehören. Das letztere beginnt
an der anderen Seite des Gebirges von Betancuria
und führt (mit anderen Namen) weiter, bis es an der
Ostküste von Pozo Negro endet.
Die Gavias
Das System der ‘Gavias’ kommt aus der Tradition
des Getreideanbaus auf Fuerteventura und hat wahrscheinlich einen nordafrikanischen Ursprung. Auf den
trockensten Insel des Archipels und in den trockenen
Zonen im Windschatten der feuchtesten Inseln, wurde ein Anbau-System entwickelt, das ‘Gavias’, heißt.
Dadurch kann das Regenwasser bestmöglich genutzt
werden, um die landwirtschaftliche Produktion zu
steigern. Dieses System gibt es noch heute auf Fuerteventura und an einigen Orten auf Lanzarote.
Die Gavias können als wichtiges System für die Steigerung der biologischen Produktivität des Geländes
durch eine nachhaltige Nutzung des Bodens und des
Wassers betrachtet werden, das dazu beitrug die Artenvielfalt zu erhalten. Die Struktur der Gavias ermöglicht
es, bei unebenen Böden mit Hilfe von Maueren aus
trockenem Stein geschlossene Flächen zu schaffen,
wobei die Ränder von Schluchten und Abhängen
genutzt werden. Auf diese Weise wird das ablaufende Wasser, das voller Erdsegmente ist und schwere
erosive Prozesse verursachen kann gestoppt. Dieses
Wasser wird in der Gavia aufgefangen und lagert die
fruchtbare Erde ab, die es befördert. Die Abdeckung
wird im Lauf der Jahre größer und stärkt die Gavia.

The tractors of the Corporation started working in
June 2009 on the intricate work schedule of the “Remodelling of Fuerteventura’s natural environment”
plan, that was launched by the Cabildo’s Infrastructures department in this and other areas of the island.
The municipality of Agua de Bueyes is situated in
a privileged biodiversity area, where the indigenous
flora grows wild in the valleys and cliffs amongst the
traditional farming that is mostly carried out by the
village habitants.
The exhaustive remodelling plan has also been
developed over the past few months in areas such
as Guisguey, El Time and La Matilla, and it was also
developed previously in old farming areas in El Cardón, La Pared and Tiscamanita.
Abandoned traditional farming structures can bring
added risk of transformation into desert areas of the
island’s territory. The gavias act as a balsa that helps
retain rain water, and delay the process of erosion
and helps the development of aquifers.
Work. Each tractor of the Cabildo’s Department
of Projects and Machinery can restore on average
three gavias per day. The work consists mainly in
strengthening the earth walls of the gavias and fix
the openings in the gavias that are created by the
water’s movement. The other basic elements of the
gavia are the drainage that allows the water to drain
when the water reaches a certain level so that the
earth walls won’t collapse and the “torná” which is
the water entry point.
Valleys of Agua de Bueyes. In the area of Agua de
Bueyes there is an interesting development of valleys
and laderas (stone walls built to retain the soil on the
hills for farming) that are known as Valley of La Vega
La Vieja, Valley of el Huerto, Valle of Peña Blanca, and
Valley of el Garabato, this last one starts on the other
side of the mountain range of Betancuria and leads on
to other valleys that end on the coast in Pozo Negro.
The gavias
The system of “gavias” dates back to the traditional
cereal farming in Fuerteventura, and probably came
from North-African influence. On the most arid islands
of the archipelago and in the arid sotavento areas on
the most humid islands, the farming system called
“gavias” was developed in order to take advantage
of the rain water and achieve better productivity from
the land. This system is still in use in Fuerteventura
and in some areas in Lanzarote.
The gavias can be considered as an important
system that increases biological productivity on the
territory by using the land and rain water in a durable
manner and contributes to preserve biodiversity.
The gavias create an enclosed space made of walls
of dry stone if there is a big level difference or earth
walls that use the edges of barrancos and laderas.
This system ensures that the rain water is collected
on its way down from the hills when it is charged
with sediments that could otherwise cause serious
erosion damage. This water is kept in the gavia where
the fertile earth that it carries is transformed into
sediments. The enclosure increases as years go by
which increases the potential of the gavia.
Fuerteventura recibió durante el período de Semana Santa, comprendido desde el viernes 3 hasta el
domingo 12 de abril, un total de 46 vuelos más entre
nacionales e internacionales que en el mismo período
vacacional del pasado año. Las estadísticas revelan que
de los 18 países emisores de turistas a Fuerteventura,
12 aumentaron sus conexiones con la Isla, sólo uno
experimentó un descenso de un vuelo, y el resto se
mantuvo con el mismo número de vuelos que en 2009.
Reino Unido fue el país que más incrementó el
número de conexiones con Fuerteventura durante el
período de Semana Santa, enviando un total de 19
vuelos más a la Isla en estas fechas, pasando de 46 en
2009 a 65 en el presente año. Por su parte, Alemania
ha sido el segundo en crecimiento con un aumento
de 6 vuelos con respecto a los datos de 2009. Otros
cuatro vuelos más procedentes de Madrid, Sevilla y
Barcelona, sitúan al mercado nacional en el tercer
lugar, llegando a los 56 vuelos con Fuerteventura.
En términos porcentuales destaca el incremento
experimentado por países nórdicos como en el caso
de Noruega, que triplicó sus conexiones, o Dinamarca, que aumentó los vuelos con Fuerteventura un
75%. Otros países como Suecia, Bélgica, Austria y
Suiza rondan el 50% de subida.
En materia de ocupación de establecimientos hoteleros y extra-hoteleros, la Semana Santa que acaba
de terminar también trajo consigo datos positivos. Un
número significativo de establecimientos, especialmente de 4 y 5 estrellas, llegaron a alcanzar unas
cota de ocupación superiores al 95%.
46 additional flights
landed during Semana
Santa
During Semana Santa, which started on Friday 3rd
April and ended on Sunday 12th April, a total of 46
additional flights, both national and international,
landed on the island when compared to last year’s
Semana Santa. Statistics show that out of the 18
countries that fly to the island, 12 of them increased
their number of connexions to Fuerteventura and only
one decreased its numbers by one flight; the others
kept the same amount of flights as in 2009.
The United Kingdom is the country that increased
its numbers of flights to Fuerteventura the most, with
19 more flights than last year, going from 46 flights in
2009 to 65 this year. Germany was the second one
with an increase of 6 flights. National flights were in
third position with 56 flights to Fuerteventura with increases in flights from Madrid, Sevilla and Barcelona.
Statistics show increases for flights coming from
Nordic countries such as Norway that tripled their
connexions or Denmark that increased its numbers
by 75%. Other countries such as Sweden, Belgium,
Switzerland achieved increases of around 50%.
As far as hotel and extra-hotel occupation is concerned, Semana Santa is also ending on positive figures.
Many establishments, especially 4 and 5 star ones,
reached occupation levels of over 95%.

Fuerteventura empfing in den Osterferien, vom Freitag den 3. bis zum Sonntag den 12. April insgesamt
46 Flüge aus dem In- und Ausland mehr als zur gleichen Zeit im vergangenen Jahr. Aus den Statistiken
geht hervor, dass von den 18 Ländern, aus denen die
Touristen nach Fuerteventura kommen, 12 die Zahl
ihrer Flüge auf die Insel erhöhten. Nur aus einem
Land kamen weniger Flüge und aus den übrigen
Ländern kamen genau so viele wie 2009.
Das Vereinige Königreich ist das Land, das in den
Osterferien die Zahl seiner Flüge nach Fuerteventura
am meisten steigerte und insgesamt 19 Flüge mehr
auf die Insel schickte. Im vergangenen Jahr 2009
waren es 46 Flüge, dieses Jahr dagegen 65. Deuts-
chland ist das Land mit dem zweitgrößten Wachstum
mit 6 Flügen mehr als 2009. Weitere vier Flüge aus
Madrid, Sevilla und Barcelona sorgen dafür, dass der
spanische Markt mit 56 Flügen nach Fuerteventura
an dritter Stelle steht.
Auch der prozentuelle Anstieg der skandinavischen
Länder muss erwähnt wurden: Norwegen verdreifachte
die Flüge und Dänemark erhöhte die Zahl der Flüge nach
Fuerteventura um 75%. Andere Länder wie Schweden,
Belgien, Österreich und die Schweiz steigern ihre Flüge.
Auch was die Hotelübernachtungen betrifft sind die
Daten aus der Osterwoche positiv. Zahlreiche Hotels,
vor allem Hotels mit 4 und 5 Sternen, waren über 95
% ausgelastet.
LIDL inaugurate their first shop in Fuerteventura
A large crowd came to witness LIDL Supermarkets
inaugurate their first establishment on the island
in the municipality of Puerto del Rosario. After an
investment of 2 million Euros, the new shop situated
at Ctra. FV-20. KM 0,8, Plan Parcial Rosa Vila, 35600
Puerto del Rosario now offers a 1.000 square meter
shopping area. This establishment will open from
Monday to Saturday 9 a.m. until 9 p.m., which are
very convenient long opening hours for shoppers.
Furthermore, the establishment disposes of a large
100 space car park exclusively for its clients.
The shop has created work for 55 people who are
mainly from the municipality of Puerto del Rosario.
LIDL offer mainly their own brand of products
although they also offer around 60 Canarian products.
LIDL’s own brand are known all over Europe and are

El Cabildo recepciona la obra de la nueva
planta de transferencia de vidrio
El Cabildo y la empresa encargada de las obras
formalizaron recientemente el acta de entrega de la
nueva planta de transferencia de vidrio, ubicada en
el Complejo Ambiental de Zurita. La obra se ha venido
ejecutando durante los últimos meses a través de la
empresa Cororasa, que fue la adjudicataria de los
trabajos. Ha significado una inversión de 182.781
euros y entrará en servicio próximamente mejorando la gestión de este tipo de residuos que se viene
realizando. El incremento de la recogida de vidrio
registrado durante los últimos años demandaba
ya nuevas instalaciones para su gestión dentro de
Zurita, ya que la superficie de se disponía se había
quedado pequeña para el movimiento de contenedores y camiones. Con la entrada en servicio de esta
planta se mejorará en rapidez y eficacia.
Recogida selectiva
En lo que se refiere a la recogida selectiva de residuos destinados a ser reciclados, el Cabildo cuenta
con 1.266 contenedores repartidos por toda la Isla.
Se dividen en los de color azul, para la recogida de
papel y cartón; los de color verde, para el vidrio; y los
de color amarillo, para los envases ligeros.
Una vez que estos tres tipos de residuos llegan
al Complejo Ambiental de Zurita, situado en Puerto
del Rosario, se destinan a las tres instalaciones con
cuenta la Corporación Insular para gestionar los
residuos reciclables:
- Una planta de Clasificación de Envases Ligeros
- Una planta de tratamiento de Papel y Cartón
- Y la nueva planta de transferencia de vidrio
El vidrio se deposita en los 606 contenedores
oficiales que hay repartidos en la isla, a los que les corresponde el color verde. En estos puntos se deposita
el vidrio de cualquier color, que incluye botellas, tarros
de vidrio, frascos de conservas y tarros de cosmética
y perfumería. Por el contrario no se depositan en el
iglú verde lunas de automóviles, bombillas, espejos,
cristales de ventanas y escaparates, tubos fluorescentes ni cerámicas ni porcelanas.
The Cabildo completes
the new glass recycling
plant
The Cabildo and Cororasa, the company in charge
of the project recently completed the new glass recycling plant that is situated in the Environmental Zurita
Complex. This project was carried out over the past
few months and represents an investment of 182.781
Euros and will start operating soon in order to improve
the management of this type of waste . The increase
of the glass collection over the past few years has
created a need for new installations with the Zurita
complex, as the area had become too small for the
transit of containers and lorries. This new plant will
increase speed and efficiency.
Selective recycling
As for selective waste recycling, the Cabildo has
1.266 containers all over the island. They are divided
in Blue coloured ones for paper and card board; green
ones for glass; and yellow ones for light containers.
Once this waste gets to the Environment Zurita
Complex, in Puerto del Rosario, they are then divided amongst three installations that deal with the
recycling process:
- One for Light containers
- One for the treatment of paper and card board
- And the new one for glass recycling
The glass is deposited in the 606 official green
containers all over the island. Any type of glass of
any colour can be deposited in those containers,
including bottles, glass preserves containers, cosmetic and perfume bottles. On the other hand one
should not throw away in the green containers any
car windscreens, light bulbs, mirrors, glass windows
panes, fluorescent tubes, or ceramic and porcelain.
Der Cabildo nimmt eine neue Glastransportanlage
entgegen
Der Cabildo und das beauftragte Unternehmen
arrangierten kürzlich die formelle Übergabe der neuen Glastransportanlage, die in der Anlage von Zurita
liegt. Die Bauarbeiten sind in den vergangenen Monaten von dem beauftragten Unternehmen Cororasa
durchgeführt worden Es wurden 182.781 Euro in die
Anlage investiert, die demnächst in Betrieb genommen wird und durch die die Beseitigung von derartigem Müll verbessert wird. In den vergangenen Jahren
wurde immer mehr Glas weggeworfen, deshalb wurde
eine neue Anlage in Zurita immer dringender gebraucht. Die dort zur Verfügung stehende Fläche war zu
klein für die ständigen Bewegungen von Containern
und Lastwagen. Mit der Inbetriebnahme dieser neuen
Anlage kann eine schnellere und effizientere Leistung
gewährleistet werden.
Mülltrennung
Für die Mülltrennung der Abfälle, die recycelt werden, verfügt der Cabildo über 1.266 Container, die
auf der ganzen Insel verteilt sind. Die blauen sind für
Papier und Pappe, die grünen für Glas und die gelben
für leichte Verpackungen.
Wenn diese drei Arten von Müll in der Anlage von
Zurita, in Puerto del Rosario, ankommen, werden sie
in den drei(kommen sie in die drei) verschiedenen
Müllanlagen der Inselregierung weiterverarbeitet:
- Eine Anlage für die Klassifizierung von leichten
Verpackungen
- Eine Anlage für die Aufbereitung von Papier und
Pappe
- Und eine neue Anlage für den Transport von Glas
Das Glas wird in die 606 grünen offiziellen Container der Insel geschmissen. Dort kommt Glas jeder
Farbe hinein, einschließlich Flaschen, Einmachgläser,
kleine Fläschchen sowie Creme- und Parfümbehälter.
Autofenster, Birnen, Spiegel, Fensterglas, Keramik und
Porzellan gehören dagegen nicht in das grüne Iglu.
LIDL eröffnet sein erstes Geschäft auf Fuerteventura
Die Supermarktkette LIDL eröffnete in Puerto del
Rosario, mit einer spektakulären Besucherzahl, ihr
erstes Geschäft auf der Insel. Nach einer Investition
von 2 Millionen Euros verfügt das neue Geschäft über
einen 1.000 m² großen Verkaufsraum. Es befindet
sich an der. FV-20. KM 0.8, Plan Parcial Rosa Vila,
35600 Puerto del Rosario. Es ist von montags bis
samstags von 09:00 bis 21:00 Uhr geöffnet, damit
die Verbraucher bequem einkaufen können. Außerdem verfügt die Niederlassung über einen großen
Parkplatz mit 100 Parkplätzen für die Kunden.
Das Geschäft in Puerto del Rosario hat 55 Arbeitsplätze geschaffen, die meisten Angestellten kommen
aus der gleichen Gemeinde.
Das Sortiment, das LIDL in diesem Geschäften
anbietet, besteht zum größten Teil aus eigenen Mar-

Victor Alonso - Consejero de Asuntos Sociales del Cabildo
“Hemos conseguido lo que pretendíamos:
mantener el nivel de servicios sociales y
atención al ciudadano”
Después de tres años de experiencia en esta
Consejería, que como su titular suele repetir, “es la
Conserjería de las personas”, hemos vuelto a sentarnos con Víctor Alonso, para que nos hable de su
labor durante este periplo.
Su aspecto ha cambiado de forma muy positiva,
se le ve mas joven y vital, contrariamente a lo que
suele pasar con el paso de los años para todos y muy
especialmente para los políticos, en los que el peso
del trabajo y las presiones suelen causar mayores
estragos que en el resto de la población.
¿Háblenos de sus experiencias en estos años?
Son muchas y variadas, porque este es un puesto
muy controvertido, en el que no siempre llueve a
gusto de todos, pero creo que hemos conseguido en
esta legislatura lo que pretendíamos: mantener el
nivel de servicios sociales mejorándolo en materia
de infraestructura y atención a los ciudadanos.
Sabemos que se han inaugurado nuevos centros
para dar servicio a los ciudadanos. ¿Puede ampliarnos estos datos?
En el campo de las infraestructuras, hemos podido
poner en marcha el año pasado el Centro Ocupacional del Sur, en Gran Tarajal, para personas con
algunas discapacidades psíquicas de tipo leve y
donde se llevan a cabo actividades y talleres para
facilitar su integración en la vida social y laboral.
Como dato orientativo, al comenzar esta legislatura,
diez de estas personas (jóvenes y adultos), tenían
que desplazarse todos los días desde Morro a las 6
de la mañana para llegar hasta Puerto del Rosario.
Al mismo tiempo estamos terminando un centro
nuevo en Gran Tarajal que tendrá el mismo destino,
y absorberá los alumnos del local cedido por el Ayuntamiento de Tuineje y habilitado en la actualidad. Esperamos que hacia noviembre o diciembre ya esté en
marcha... Y el Centro de Rehabilitación Psicosocial de
Puerto del Rosario, en la zona de Rosa Vila, acaba de
entrar en funcionamiento Al cerrar la mancomunidad
Centro Norte, el Cabildo y el Gobierno de Canarias
han asumido la competencia de estos centros de
rehabilitación. El personal de este centro se compone
de monitores, un trabajador social y una psicóloga.
Pensamos asumir también el centro de Gran Tarajal
una vez terminado, si la mancomunidad centro-sur
lo acepta, ya que es una competencia del Cabildo.
Otra de las obras emblemáticas es el Centro Insular
de Atención a la Discapacidad de Puerto del Rosario.
Ya estamos haciendo la primera fase con una inversión de mas de un 1.200.000 €.
Esta obra albergara el nuevo Centro Ocupacional
y la nueva Residencia insular de discapacitados
psíquicos profundos y una zona común que podrá
ser usada por las familias de los discapacitados. En
esta zona habrá una piscina, y será de uso tanto para
familiares, como para asociaciones.
¿Y para los mayores?
Hemos hecho también bastante reforma y arreglos
importantes en la Residencia de Mayores de Casillas
del Ángel con una inversión de más de 1.500.000 €.
Ha sido un cambio espectacular. Por su parte el Consejo Insular de Aguas ha hecho una obra importante
para que, a través de una rotonda, tengamos una
entrada directa y fácil a la residencia, e igualmente
las ambulancias tengan un fácil acceso y no sea
necesario entrar por la mitad del pueblo.
¿Cómo les han afectado los recortes presupuestarios en esta consejería?
En el tema de atención de las personas el Cabildo
ha aumentado un 1,65 % en el presupuesto. Somos
una Conserjería que no ha sufrido recortes, pero también son muchos los servicios que debemos atender.
Se ha hecho una importante inversión en drogodependencia a pesar de que el Gobierno de Canarias ha
tenido que reducir la aportación que nos daba. El Cabildo ha seguido manteniendo los servicios y hemos
ampliado el personal en el sur de la isla, sacando la
plaza para un psicólogo que atienda a las personas
afectadas y a sus familias. Nos falta el suministro de
metadona, a través de un técnico de laboratorio en
la zona Sur, pero por temas de presupuesto aún no
podemos cubrir ese puesto.
Otras de las prioridades es el Centro Insular de
Servicios Sociales, que en estos momentos atiende
al año unas 12.000 personas. Hemos marcado prioridad a este departamento haciendo un reajuste y he-
mos trasladado parte del personal de este modulo a
la Universidad Popular, y otra parte de la Conserjería
estará al lado del Auditorio donde se pondrá el servicio de drogodependencias y el punto de información
sexual. Aunque deseamos crear un lugar para este
centro, la obra tendrá que esperar a otro momento
en el que los recursos económicos sean mayores y
mientras, desde estos puntos podremos ampliar y
mejorar la atención a los ciudadanos que es lo más
importante para nosotros.
¿Y qué se está realizando en cuanto a las personas con minusvalías motoras, no psíquicas?
Este año con la asociación Frater se va ha firmar un
convenio, para ir subsanando todas las deficiencias
de accesibilidad de la isla.
Frater va a ir examinando cada municipio para
marcar todos los puntos negros que una persona con
incapacidad pueda encontrarse, desde tomar un taxi
a acceder a cualquier recinto público. Además este
presupuesto va ha dar lugar a que los ayuntamientos
tengan una normativa antes de dar permisos de obra
sin los accesos adecuados.
¿Alguna otra novedad de interés?
Sí, hasta ahora los ciudadanos de la isla tenían que
dirigirse al Cabildo para obtener la evaluación de su
grado de minusvalía y la resolución definitiva tardaba
entre convocatoria y resolución más de un año. Hemos
acordado con el Gobierno de Canarias para agilizar este
trámite, que a partir de la semana siguiente a Semana
Santa, ponemos desde este Cabildo dos trabajadores
a su disposición, una psicóloga y un trabajador social
.El administrativo lo aporta el Gobierno de Canarias.
De esta forma las convocatorias serán casi inmediatas y las resoluciones definitivas se le podrán
entregar en mano a través de la Oficina de Atención
al Ciudadano. Incluso hemos conseguido que las
comisiones que evalúan se reúnan en Fuerteventura.
¿De qué se siente más satisfecho?
Creo que esta Consejería, ha hecho cosas contando con todos los colectivos, que era algo que yo me
propuse al comenzar y creo que lo hemos logrado.
Para este año hemos mantenido convenios con más
de veintiocho asociaciones y O.N.G. manteniéndoles
la subvención, apoyo y asesoramiento que venían recibiendo, ejemplos como: Corazón y Vida, Asociación
Fuerteventura contra el Cáncer, Frater, Asomasamen,
Familia con trastornos de déficit de atención, Victimas de Violencia de Genero, Hijas de la Caridad de
Corralejo, con Cruz Roja mantenemos la tele asistencia a 125 usuarios, incluso queremos llegar a cinco
mayores de Betancuria este año, Caritas, Adisfama,
Adisfuer, etc. Además, seguimos apoyando, en la medida de nuestras posibilidades, a los ayuntamientos,
a través de los convenios de Bienestar Social.
Tenemos cumplido más del 125% del plan electoral
del pacto de Gobierno que se presentó al comienzo
y eso que nadie sabia en el 2007, lo que se nos ha
ido avecinando en años posteriores y hemos ido
dando respuestas a todos los colectivos en todo lo
que hemos podido dentro de nuestros presupuestos.
También me enorgullece que hayamos recibido,
por parte de la Cruz Roja, la medalla de oro como
reconocimiento a la labor social del Cabildo de Fuerteventura en el año pasado.

QUIÉN ES QUIÉN EN LA ISLA / WHO’S WHO IN THE ISLAND? / WER IST WER AUF DER INSEL?
Victor Alonso – Cabildo’s Social Matters’ Councillor
“We have reached our goal: to maintain the level
of social services and attention to citizens”
After three years experience in this Council, which
he tends to call “the people’s Council”, we have come
once again to chat with Víctor Alonso, so that he could
tell us about his duties during this venture.
Changes have been positive, he seems younger and
full of vitality, unlike what tends to happen as years go
by for all of us and especially for politicians, who have
to cope with more work related stress than others.
Tell us about your experiences over the past few
years.
They are very varied because this position is very
controversial, and does not always suit everyone, but I
believe that we have reached our goals over this term:
to maintain the level of social services by improving
their infrastructures and attention to citizens.
We know that new services’ centres have been
inaugurated. Can you tell us more about those?
As for infrastructures, we managed to put in place
last year the Occupational Centre of the Southern
Area in Gran Tarajal, for people with light mental
disabilities where activities and workshops are organised to make their integration in social and working life easier. Regarding numbers, when the term
started, everyday ten of those people (young people
and adults) used to have to go from Morro Jable at 6
in the morning in order to get to Puerto del Rosario.
We are also currently completing a new centre in
Gran Tarajal that will welcome students from the local
that was given by Tuineje’s Ayuntamiento which is
being refurbished. We hope that it will be completed
in November or December... And the Psycho-social
Rehabilitation Centre of Puerto del Rosario, in the area
of Rosa Vila, has just started operating. As the Centre
North mancomunidad was closed, the Cabildo and
Canarian Government have taken those rehabilitation
centres under their wing. The centre’s staff consists
of teachers, a social worker and a psychiatrist. We are
also aiming at taking care of Gran Tarajal’s centre once
it will be completed if the centre-south mancomunidad
agrees, as this should depend from the Cabildo.
Another very important project is the Centro Insular
de Atención a la Discapacidad (disability attention centre) of Puerto del Rosario where we are carrying out the
first phase of investment that represents 1.200.000 €.
This project houses the new Occupational Centre and
the new island’s Residence for deeply mentally disabled
people and a communal area that their families will be
able to use. This area will contain a swimming pool that
will also be available to families and associations.
How about the elderly people?
We have also carried out refurbishments and repairs in the Elders’ Residence of Casillas del Ángel
representing an investment of over 1.500.000 €. It
was a spectacular change. On the other hand, the
Island’s Water Board carried out major work to create
a direct and easy entrance to the premises through
a roundabout and also for ambulances to get easy
access without having to come in through the village.
How did budget cut backs affect your Council?
Regarding attention to persons, the Cabildo increased the budget by 1,65%. We are one of the
Councils that has not suffered from any cut backs,
but we have to take care of many services. There was
a major investment for drug-addictions although the
Canarian Government had to reduce the amount of
help they use to grant us. The Cabildo has carried
on maintaining services and we have increased the
number of staff in the south of the island and added
a psychologist to care for people concerned and their
families. We need a lab-technician for methadone
treatments in the southern area but the budget does
not allow us to cover this position.
Another priority is the Island’s Social Services’
Centre that currently attends around 12.000 people.
We have concentrated our efforts on this department
by making adjustments and we have moved part of
the staff of this module to the Popular University and
another part of the Council will be located next to the
Auditorium where the drug-addiction services and the
sexual information service will be situated. Although we
wish to create a space for this centre, the project will
have to wait for financial resources to increase which
will allow us to increase and improve our service of
attention to citizens which is our most important task.
What projects are being carried out for people
with physical disabilities?
This year we are going to sign an agreement with
the Frater association, in order to care for all the
accessibility deficiencies of the island.
Frater is going to check out each municipality in
order to point out all the problems that a person with
disabilities could encounter from taking a taxi to getting
access to any public place. Furthermore, this initiative
will help ayuntamientos to be aware of the norms on
adequate accesses before giving out building licences.
Any other interesting news?
Yes, until recently residents of the island had to go to
the Cabildo in order to get an assessment of their level
of disability and the final decision used to take a year
before being given out. We have come to an agreement
with the Canarian Government in order to speed up this
process and we have now dedicated a psychologist and
a social worker for this task at the Cabildo. The administration is taken care of by the Canarian Government.
Therefore the process will be almost immediate and
the final decisions will be handed out directly by the Office of Attention to Citizens. We have also managed to get

What are you most proud of?
I think this Council has achieved projects for each
collectivity which was one of my main goals when I first
started. This year we have managed to sign agreements
with over twenty eight associations and N.G.O., we
have maintained the amount of subventions, help and
assessments for associations such as Corazón y Vida,
Asociación Fuerteventura contra el Cáncer, Frater, Asomasamen, Familia con trastornos de déficit de atención,
Victimas de Violencia de Genero, Hijas de la Caridad de
Corralejo, we have carried on providing tele-assistance
with the Red Cross and this year we also want to help
with Caritas, Adisfama, Adisfuer, etc. We also keep on
supporting as much as possible the Ayuntamientos
thanks to the Social Well-being agreements.
We have achieved over 125% of the electoral plan
of the Government’s pact that was presented at the
beginning and which no one was aware of in 2007,
and we have given answers to all the associations
within our budget possibilities.
I am also very proud of the Gold Medal that the Red
Cross awarded us in recognition of the social work carried out by Fuerteventura’s Cabildo over the past year.

QUIÉN ES QUIÉN EN LA ISLA / WHO’S WHO IN THE ISLAND? / WER IST WER AUF DER INSEL?

“Wir haben das erreicht, was wir wollten: Wir
haben das Niveau der sozialen Leistungen
und der Bürgerbetreuung beibehalten”
Nach einer dreijährigen Erfahrung in diesem Amt,
das wie sein Amtsinhaber sagt, „das Amt der Personen” ist, haben wir uns wieder mit Víctor Alonso
getroffen, um uns von ihm etwas über seine Arbeit
während dieser Zeit erzählen zu lassen.
Sein Äußeres hat sich positiv verändert, im Gegenteil zu dem was normalerweise im Laufe der
Jahre allen, und vor allem den Politikern passiert,
die unter mehr Druck zu leiden haben als die übrige
Bevölkerung, sieht er jünger und vitaler aus als früher.
Erzählen Sie uns etwas über Ihre Erfahrungen in
dieser Zeit?
Ich habe viele sehr verschiedene Erfahrungen gemacht, denn dies ist eine sehr umstrittenes Amt, wo
man es nicht immer allen recht machen kann, aber
in dieser Legislaturperiode haben wir das erreicht
was wir beabsichtigten: Wir haben das Niveau der
sozialen Leistungen beibehalten und, was die Infrastrukturen betrifft, sogar verbessert. Auch das Niveau
der Bürgerbetreuung wurde beibehalten.
Wir wissen, dass neue Zentren für die Bürger
eröffnet wurden. Können Sie uns etwas darüber
erzählen?
Im Bereich der Infrastrukturen konnte das Beschäftigungszentrum Süden für geistig Behinderte in
Gran Tarajal eingerichtet werden. Dort gibt es Kurse
und Aktivitäten, um diese Menschen ins soziale und
berufliche Leben zu integrieren. Am Anfang dieser
Legislaturperiode mussten zehn dieser Personen (Jugendliche und Erwachsene) jeden Tag um sechs Uhr
morgens von Morro nach Puerto del Rosario fahren.
Gleichzeitig sind wir dabei, ein neues derartiges
Zentrum fertig zu stellen. Dort werden Schüler aus einem Gebäude der Gemeinde von Tuineje, das zurzeit
renoviert wird, untergebracht. Wir gehen davon aus,
dass wir es im November oder Dezember eröffnen
können. Dazu kommt das Zentrum für psychische
und soziale Rehabilitation von Puerto del Rosario, in
der Gegend von Rosa Vila, das vor kurzem eröffnet
wurde. Die Zweckgemeinschaft Zentrum Norden, der
Cabildo und die Regierung der Kanaren haben die
Kompetenz für diese Zentren. Das Personal dieses
Zentrums besteht aus Lehrern, einem Sozialarbeiter
und einer Psychologin. Wir möchten auch das Zentrum von Gran Tarajal übernehmen, wenn es fertig
ist. Dies muss allerdings die Zweckgemeinschaft Zentrum Süden akzeptieren, da es zu den Kompetenzen
des Cabildo gehört.
Eine weitere bedeutende Arbeit ist das Inselzentrum für die Betreuung von Behinderten in Puerto del
Rosario. Zurzeit wird die erste Phase des Projektes
ausgeführt und es wurden schon mehr als 1.200.000
€ investiert.
Dort wird das neue Beschäftigungszentrum und das
neue Inselwohnheim für schwer geistig Behinderte
untergebracht. Es gibt auch einen Gemeinschaftsbereich, der von den Familien der Behinderten genutzt
werden kann. Dort wird es ein Schwimmbad geben,
das sowohl von den Familien als auch von den Vereinen genutzt werden kann.
Und was haben Sie für die für Senioren getan?
Wir haben im Altenheim von Casillas del Ángel renoviert und viel in Ordnung gebracht. Darin wurden
mehr als 1.500.000 € investiert. Das Ergebnis ist
spektakulär. Der Inselrat für Wasser hat außerdem
eine großartige Arbeit geleistet, damit wir eine direkten Zufahrt zu dem Wohnheim bekommen. Auch die
Krankenwagen werden leicht herein fahren können
und müssen nicht mehr durch den halben Ort fahren.
Wie wurde Ihr Amt von den Kürzungen betroffen?
Der Cabildo hat das Budget für die Personenbetreuung um 1,65 % erhöht. Unser Amt war nicht von
Kürzungen betroffen, aber wir sind auch für viele
Leistungen zuständig.
Es wurde auch viel in die Betreuung von Drogensüchtigen investiert, obwohl die Regierung der Kanaren
uns weniger geben konnte als früher. Der Cabildo hat
die gleichen Leistungen beibehalten und wir haben
im Süden der Insel mehr Personal beschäftigt, z.B.
indem wir einen Psychologen eingestellt haben, der
die Betroffenen und deren Familien betreut. Wir brauchen in dieser Gegend noch einen Labortechniker für
die Verteilung von Metadon, aber zurzeit können wir
es uns nicht leisten, jemanden einzustellen.
Eine weitere Priorität ist das Inselzentrum der sozialen Dienste, das zurzeit mehr als 12.000 Personen
im Jahr empfängt. Wir haben dieses Departement
zur Priorität gemacht, indem wir eine Umsetzung
des Personals durchgeführt haben. Wir haben einen
Teil des zuständigen Personals in die Universidad
Popular geschickt. Ein anderer Teil des zuständigen
Amtes wird neben dem Auditorium untergebracht.
Dort werden die Drogenberatung und die sexuelle Aufklärung stattfinden. Obwohl wir einen Ort für dieses
Zentrum schaffen möchten, müssen die Bauarbeiten
aufgeschoben werden, da wir zurzeit nicht über die
dafür notwendigen Mittel verfügen. Jetzt ist es für uns
das Wichtigste, die Bürgerbetreuung zu verbessern.
Und was tun Sie für die Körperbehinderten?
Dieses Jahr werden wir ein Abkommen mit dem
Verband Frater abschließen, um die ganze Insel zugänglicher zu machen.
Frater wird alle Gemeinden untersuchen und überall schwarze Punkte markieren, wo eine behinderte
Person sich aufhalten könnte, von Taxiständen bis zu
öffentlichen Plätzen und Straßen. Außerdem wird es
mit diesem Budget möglich sein, dass die Gemeinden Richtlinien für Bauarbeiten erhalten, damit die
entsprechenden Zufahrten gewährleistet werden.
Gibt es noch irgendeine interessante Neuheit?
Ja, bis jetzt mussten sich die Bürger der Insel an
den Cabildo wenden, um den Grad ihrer Behinderung
anerkennen zu lassen. Es dauerte oft mehr als ein
Jahr, bis das endgültige Ergebnis herausgegeben
wurde. Wir haben mit der Regierung der Kanaren
vereinbart, dass der Cabildo, um diese Formalitäten
schneller ablaufen zu lassen, ab Ostern zwei Fachkräfte zur Verfügung stellt, eine Psychologin und
einen Sozialarbeiter. Den Verwaltungsangestellten
stellt die Regierung der Kanaren zur Verfügung.
Auf diese Weise werden die Termine schnell gemacht, und die betroffenen Bürger bekommen die
Anerkennung ihrer Behinderungen in Form endgültiger Entscheidungen im Büro für Bürgerbetreuung.
Wir haben sogar erreicht, dass die Kommissionen,
welche die Entscheidungen treffen, sich auf Fuerteventura treffen.
Womit sind Sie zufrieden?
Ich glaube, dass dieses Amt alle Kollektive in seine
Arbeit einbezogen hat. Ich hatte mir das vorgenommen, als ich angefangen habe und ich glaube, wir
haben es geschafft. Für dieses Jahr haben wir Abkommen mit mehr als achtundzwanzig Verbänden und
Nicht-Regierungs-Oganisationen abgeschlossen, die
von uns die gleichen Subventionen sowie die Unterstützung und Beratung bekommen wie vorher. Einige
davon sind: Herz und Leben, Verband Fuerteventura
gegen Krebs, Frater, Asomasamen, Familien mit
Konzentrationsstörungen, Opfer sexistischer Gewalt,
Töchter der Nächstenliebe von Corralejo. Zusammen
mit dem roten Kreuz betreuen wir mit der TeleAssistenz 125 Nutzer, und wir möchten dieses Jahr
auch fünf Senioren in Betancuria einbeziehen. Dazu
kommen Caritas, Adisfama, Adisfuer usw. Außerdem
unterstützen wir die Gemeinden weiterhin so weit wir
können mit den Abkommen für sozialen Wohlstand.
Wir haben mehr als 125% des ursprünglichen
Wahlprogramms der Regierungskoaltion erfüllt und
das, obwohl 2007 noch keiner ahnte, was in den folgenden Jahren auf uns zukommen sollte. Wir haben
alle Kollektive unterstützt, so gut wir konnten.
Außerdem bin ich stolz darauf, dass wir im vergangen
Jahr vom roten Kreuz die Goldmedaille für die soziale
Arbeit des Cabildo von Fuerteventura bekommen haben.

El plátano de Canarias

El cultivo del plátano tiene su origen en el Sudeste
Asiático, entre la India y Malasia. Unos 500 años
d.C., pasó a África a través de Madagascar y en el
siglo VI se estableció en las costas del Mediterráneo,
llegando a Canarias procedente de Guinea mediante
las conquistas africanas de los portugueses. Se cree
que desde Canarias los españoles llevaron el plátano
a América.
¿Por qué es tan diferente el sabor y las
propiedades del plátano canario
respecto a la banana?
Entre las principales diferencias se puede decir
que el Plátano de Canarias posee un mayor grado de
madurez y permanencia en la planta que la banana
tropical debido a la menor distancia entre la producción y el mercado consumidor del plátano.
Además el Plátano de Canarias posee un mayor
índice de humedad, por lo que es mucho más sabroso
que la banana, que es más seca.
En la banana los valores de carbohidratos, azúcares solubles y sacarosa son ligeramente mayores, lo
que le confiere una textura más harinosa que la del
Plátano de Canarias que, además, tiene niveles más
altos de contenido en potasio.
Finalmente, el clima de las Islas Canarias es más
variable que el de los países tropicales, lo que también repercute en un mayor tiempo de permanencia
del plátano en la en planta (6 meses) respecto a la
banana (3 meses), confiriéndole un mayor grado de
madurez, sabor y aroma.

El cultivo del plátano canario
La platanera es una planta monocotiledónea del
género Musa. Las principales variedades cultivadas
en las Islas Canarias corresponden a un triploide de
la especie Musa Acuminata.
La temperatura óptima para el cultivo de los plátanos es alrededor de 25ºC y la altitud inferior a los
300 metros, sólo encontrada en las Islas Canarias.
Además el plátano necesita buena luminosidad,
bastante humedad, suelos de textura arenosa pero
con suficiente arcilla y limo, con buena porosidad y
con un PH ácido.
El periodo desde la siembra de la planta madre
hasta la emisión del racimo, dura aproximadamente
unos 10-12 meses. Una vez emite el racimo se producen procesos como el amarre, el embolsado y el
desflorillado.
El amarre o atado se realiza con el objeto de evitar
la caída de la planta debido al peso del racimo o por
efecto del viento, para protegerlos. El embolsado
del racimo consiste en la colocación de una funda
de plástico que lo cubre, lo que favorece el llenado
uniforme de la fruta, evita ataques de plagas y roces en el campo y en el transporte. Y el proceso de
desflorillado consiste en quitar una a una y de forma
manual, la flor femenina (de donde nace el plátano)
que queda al final de cada fruta.

Malaysia. Ungefähr 500 n. Chr. kam sie über Madagaskar nach Afrika. Im VI. Jahrhundert wurde sie an
der Mittelmeerküste heimisch und gelangte im Zug
der portugiesischen Kolonialisierung in Afrika von
Guinea auf die Kanaren. Es wird angenommen, dass
die Spanier die Bananen von den kanarischen Inseln
nach Amerika brachten.
Hier sind einige Antworten auf die Frage,
warum der Geschmack und die Eigenschaften der kanarischen Banane (platano
canario) sich von denen der tropischen
Banane unterscheiden
Einer der wichtigsten Unterschiede besteht darin,
dass die kanarische Banane in einem reiferen Zustand gepflückt wird als die tropische Banane, da sie
nach der Ernte schneller auf den Markt kommt als
jene.
Außerdem besitzt die kanarische Banane einen
höheren Feuchtigkeitsgehalt, deshalb ist sie schmackhafter als die trockenere tropische Banane.
Die tropische Banane hat etwas höhere Werte an
Kohlenhydraten, löslichem Zucker und Saccharose,
deshalb ist sie mehliger als die kanarische Banane,
die außerdem einen höheren Kaliumgehalt hat.
Außerdem ist das Klima der kanarischen Inseln
unbeständiger als in tropischen Ländern, was dazu
führt, dass die kanarische Banane länger an der
Staude hängt (6 Monate), im Gegensatz zur tropischen Banane (3 Monate), wodurch sie an Reife,
Geschmack und Aroma gewinnt.

DerAnbau der kanarischen Bananen
Die Bananenstaude ist eine einkeimblättrige Pflanze und gehört zur Art der Musa. Die wichtigsten Arten,
die auf den Kanaren angebaut werden, gehören zu
der triploiden der Art Musa Acuminata.
Die ideale Temperatur für den Anbau von Bananen
beträgt ungefähr 25º C und die ideale Höhe liegt
unter 300 Metern. Dies findet man nur auf den kanarischen Inseln. Außerdem brauchen Bananen viel
Licht, ausreichend Feuchtigkeit, sandige Böden, mit
ausreichend Lehm, einer guten Durchlässigkeit und
einem sauren PH-Wert.
Die Zeit zwischen der Saat der Mutterpflanze bis
die Büschel herauskommen, dauert ungefähr 10 -12
Monate. Wenn die Büschel da sind, wird die Staude
angebunden, verpackt und schließlich werden die
Früchte gepflückt.
Die Staude wird an einem Gegenstand festgebunden um zu verhindern, dass sie aufgrund des
Gewichts der Staude oder wegen des Windes umfällt.
Der Büschel wird in einer Plastikhülle verpackt, die
sie bedeckt. Dadurch bekommt die Frucht eine einheitliche Form, wird vor Ungeziefer und Berührungen
auf dem Land und beim Transport geschützt. Und
schließlich werden, die weiblichen Blüten (aus denen die Bananen entstehen) am Ende jeder Frucht
einzeln gepflückt.

The Canarian Banana

Banana growing gets its origins from South East
Asia, between India and Malaysia. Around 500
years A.D., it arrived in Africa through Madagascar
and during the 6th century it developed on the Mediterranean coasts and reached the Canary Islands
from Guinea with Portuguese conquests in Africa.
It is believed that the Spanish then introduced the
banana from the Canaries to America.
Why are the flavour and properties of
the Canarian Banana so different from
the Common Banana?
Amongst the main differences, the Canarian Banana has a greater degree of ripeness and can stay
longer on the tree than the tropical banana because
of the closeness between the banana farms and the
consumers.
Furthermore, the Canarian Banana has a higher
humidity rate which means that is has a lot more
flavour that the Common Banana which is dryer.
The carbohydrates, soluble sugars and sucrose
contained in the Common Banana are slightly higher
which explains its more floury texture than the Canarian Banana which also contains more potassium.
Finally, the climate of the Canary Islands is more
variable than in Tropical Countries, which lengthens
the maturity process of the Canarian Banana in the
tree (6 months) compared to the common Banana
(3 months) and results in greater levels of maturity,
flavour and aroma.

Canarian Banana Farming
The banana tree is a monocotyledon plant from the
Musa family. The main varieties that are cultivated
in the Canary Islands are a triploid from the Musa
Acuminata species.
The optimum temperature for banana tree farming
is around 25ºC and the altitude should stay under
300 metres, those conditions can only be found in the
Canary Islands. Furthermore the banana tree requires
good luminosity, a fair amount of humidity and soil
with a sandy texture but that contains enough clay
and silt, good porosity and an acidic PH.
It takes about 10-12 months to go from the seeding
process of the mother plant to getting the first bunch.
Once the bunch has been produced, the processes of
tying, bagging and deflowering take place.
The tying is carried out in order to protect the plant
and stop it from falling because of the weight of the
bunch and the wind. The bagging of the bunch consists in wrapping it in a plastic bag ensuring that the
fruit will fill in a uniform manner and protect it from
plague attacks and rubbing damage during harvest
and transport. The deflowering process consists in
taking away by hand one by one the female flowers
(which creates the banana) from each fruit.

Investigadores del CSIC estudian la
migración internacional de retirados en
España
La Agencia Estatal Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), el organismo de investigación más importante de España en el desarrollo de
estudios científicos de carácter multidisciplinar para
contribuir al avance del conocimiento y el desarrollo
económico, social y cultural, está realizando una investigación sobre diferentes aspectos de la Migración
Internacional de Retirados en España.
El estudio está financiado por el Ministerio de
Ciencia e Innovación y persigue estudiar la situación
de los retirados europeos en España y sus implicaciones sociales, políticas, culturales y económicas en
las regiones de España en las que existe una mayor
presencia de esta población, es decir, en Andalucía,
Comunidad Valenciana, Región de Murcia, Cataluña,
Islas Baleares e Islas Canarias.
La investigación pretende abarcar temas de valioso
interés, entre otros, la decisión de venir a España,
las visitas realizadas y recibidas, las actividades y
relaciones sociales de la vida cotidiana en España,
la participación en asuntos políticos, el uso y valoración de servicios sociales y sanitarios, las cuestiones
jurídicas relacionadas con su vida en España, sus
características sociodemográficas, etc. Se trata de
conocer, en primer lugar, un fenómeno de enorme
importancia en determinadas regiones españolas y,
en segundo lugar, de aplicarlo al funcionamiento o
mejora de políticas públicas que pudieran afectar a
este colectivo.
Para la recolección de datos se va a poner en marcha durante las próximas semanas un cuestionario
a completar por europeos retirados en algunos municipios seleccionados aleatoriamente.
El equipo de investigación, dirigido por el Dr. Vicente Rodríguez, del Centro de Ciencias Humanas
y Sociales del CSIC, y en el que participan otros
investigadores del CSIC y de varias universidades
españolas (Málaga, Murcia, Islas Baleares, Las Pal-
mas), está convencido de encontrar un ambiente de
colaboración entre los retirados europeos que facilite
su participación en este estudio.
Las conclusiones que se obtengan de esta investigación sin duda reportarán un beneficio al conjunto
de la sociedad, no solo para profundizar en el conocimiento de la movilidad transnacional de retirados,
sino también para ajustar los recursos y las políticas
públicas locales disponibles a las necesidades reales
de esta población cada vez más numerosa.

Investigators of the CSIC researching
international retirement migration to Spain
The Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas
(CSIC), is a state agency and the most important
institution in Spain in developing and conducting
multidisciplinary scientific studies. In general, the
CSIC is devoted to the study of economic, social, and
cultural phenomena and interrelations. In the upcoming weeks the CSIC will carry out an investigation
on different aspects of the international migration of
retirees in Spain.
The study is financed by the Ministry of Science
and Innovation and seeks to investigate the situation of European retirees in Spain and the social,
political, cultural and economic implications in the
regions with a mayor presence of this population
group, namely Andalusia, the Valencian Community,
the region of Murcia, Cataluña, and the Balearic and
Canary Islands.
The study will approach topics of high interest,
among others, the decision to move to Spain, visits
and social contacts to the countries of origin, everyday
activities and intercultural contacts in Spain, political
participation, use and assessment of health and
social services, juridical questions related to living in
Spain, as well as socio-demographic characteristics of
the European residents. On the one hand, the study is
supposed to generate essential scientific knowledge
of this important phenomenon in some regions in
Spain and, on the other hand, to apply this knowledge
to the amelioration of the public policies affecting this
population group. For data collection a questionnaire
will be distributed among European retirees in some
selected regions in the following weeks.
The research team, headed by Dr. Vicente Rodríguez
of the Centro de Ciencias Humanas y Sociales of the
CSIC is not only collaborating with various scientists
of the CSIC, but also with various Spanish universities
such as Málaga, Murcia, the Balearic Islands, and Las
Palmas. We would be very pleased by the readiness
of the European retirees to help and participate in our
research. The expected results of the study not only
promise to deliver an important contribution to the
academic discussion on the transnational mobility
of elderly people but also the possibility to utilize
the results in order to adjust the existing social and
political structures according to the needs of this ever
growing part of the Spanish population.

Das staatliche Forschungsinstitut Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), ist die
bedeutendste Forschungseinrichtung Spaniens in
der Entwicklung und Durchführung multidisziplinärer
wissenschaftlicher Studien und widmet sich allgemein der Erforschung wirtschaftlicher, sozialer und
kultureller Zusammenhänge und Phänomene. In den
kommenden Wochen wird das CSIC eine Forschung
über die verschiedenen Aspekte der internationalen
Ruhesitzmigration in Spanien durchführen.
Die Studie wird vom spanischen Ministerium für
Wissenschaft und Innovation finanziert und verfolgt das Ziel die soziale, politische, kulturelle und
ökonomische Situation der europäischen Rentner
in Spanien zu erforschen, insbesondere in denjenigen Regionen mit einem hohen Anteil dieser
Bevölkerungsgruppe wie Andalusien, den Regionen
Valencia und Murcia, Cataluña, sowei auf den Balearen und den Kanaren.
Forschungsthemen von besonderem Interesse
sind hierbei unter anderem die Entscheidung nach
Spanien zu kommen, Besuche und soziale Kontakte
in die Herkunftsländer, soziale Netzwerke, interkulturelle Kontakte und das alltägliche Leben in Spanien,
politische Partizipation, Nutzung und Einschätzung
des spansichen Gesundheitssystems und anderer
sozialer Angebote, juristische und legale Aspekte
hinsichtlich des Lebens in Spanien, sowie soziodemographische Merkmale der geschilderten Bevölkerungsgruppe. Hierbei geht es zum einen darum
grundlegende Kenntisse über dieses wichtige Phänomen in einigen Regionen Spaniens zu erhalten, sowie
zum anderen darum die gewonnen wissenschaftliche
Erkenntnisse in die Praxis zu überführen und zur
Verbesserung der sozialen, legalen und politischen
Bedingungen der Gruppe der älteren europäischen
Zuwanderer einzusetzen. Zur Datenerhebung werden
daher in den kommenden Wochen Fragebögen in
ausgewählten Gebieten an die europäischen Rentner
in Spanien verteilt werden.
Das Forschungsteam unter der Leitung von Dr.
Vicente Rodríguez des Centro de Ciencias Humanas
y Sociales des CSIC, kooperiert mit verschiedenen
Wissenschaftlern des CSIC, wie auch mit einigen
spanischen Universitäten (Málaga, Murcia, Balearen,
Las Palmas) und würde sich über die Teilnahmebereitschaft der europäischen Residenten an der
Befragung sehr freuen.
Die erwarteten Ergebnisse der Forschung versprechen nicht nur einen profunden Beitrag zum wissenschaftlichen Kenntnisstand der transnationalen Mobilität von älteren Personen zu liefern, sondern darüber
hinaus auch die Möglichkeit durch die gewonnen
Erkenntisse die vorhanden politischen und sozialen
Strukturen den existierenden Bedürfnissen dieser
setig wachsenden Bevölkerungsgruppe anzupassen.

El turismo rural florece en Canarias

El archipiélago canario apuesta por el turismo
sostenible y el desarrollo rural como una nueva propuesta para el visitante.
Pensar en unas vacaciones en Canarias era, hasta
hace pocas fechas, sinónimo de sol, buenas temperaturas, hermosas playas,… Sin embargo, las cosas
han cambiado.
Ante el turismo de sol y playa, la alternativa del
turismo rural toma fuerza en las Islas Canarias.
Esta tendencia es fruto de la promoción que ha
llevado a cabo el Gobierno de Canarias a través de
la Consejería de Turismo en ferias tanto nacionales
como internacionales de la talla de Fitur, Salón Map,
Moscú o ITB Berlín. En estos eventos, Canarias ha
centrado su promoción en la oferta de turismo rural
y en la presentación de los nuevos sellos de calidad
turística de las islas. Sellos como Water Sports Experience, Wellness Delight, Family Welcome y Volcanic
Experience son la mejor carta de presentación de
valores con los que cuenta el archipiélago como
son los deportes náuticos, la salud, el bienestar, el
turismo activo o el disfrute del ámbito rural y de sus
singularidades volcánicas.
Aunque la comunidad canaria no dispone en la
actualidad de unas infraestructuras tan desarrolladas
y completas como en otras comunidades autónomas
del estado español, lo cierto es que los números son
muy positivos. El promedio de pernoctaciones en las
islas ha alcanzado las 6,97 noches, dato muy superior a la media nacional, que no llega a 3 (2,81), tal
como indican los estudios publicados por el Instituto
Nacional de Estadística (INE).
En cifras absolutas, el sector ha crecido de forma
ininterrumpida durante los últimos cinco años. Se ha
pasado de recibir a cerca de 39.000 turistas anuales,
a superar los 50.000 en este año 2010. El crecimiento es evidente, aunque los datos quedan muy lejos
de los de comunidades como Castilla León, donde
el turismo rural es una de sus principales bazas, que
está por encima de los 600.000 visitantes.
¿Qué puede ofrecer Fuerteventura?
En la isla de Fuerteventura, el turista puede combinar el turismo de sol y playa con el deportivo o con el
turismo rural. Si apuesta por la opción rural, descubrirá un abanico de posibilidades que va mucho más
allá de un simple alojamiento en el campo. El turismo
activo es fundamental para el buen funcionamiento
del agroturismo. Conocer los trabajos rurales, recoger
los huevos directamente del corral, disfrutar de un
paseo a caballo o participar en tareas propias de las
granjas, son algunas de las actividades que puede
encontrar el visitante si apuesto por combinar el descanso en las zonas rurales con valores paisajísticos
y culturales.
Ayudas económicas para el desarrollo rural
Desde finales de marzo y hasta el próximo 17 de
mayo está abierto el plazo de presentación de solicitudes para optar a las subvenciones de la Asociación para la Gestión del Desarrollo Rural Maxorata
Verde, GDR Maxorata. A través de esta subvención,
dotada de 311.784 euros, se pretende promover el
desarrollo de las áreas rurales de la isla de Fuerteventura. Las ayudas económicas irán destinadas
a proyectos dirigidos a potenciar la competitividad
de las actividades agrícolas o ganaderas, a mejorar
la calidad de vida en el medio rural fomentando la
diversificación, a fomentar el desarrollo del turismo
rural, o a favorecer la aparición y las actividades de
microempresas relacionadas con el sector primario.
Rural tourism flourishes in the Canaries
The Canary Islands archipelago is investing in
durable tourism and rural development to offer new
options for visitors.
Taking holidays in the Canaries was, until a little
while ago, synonym of sun, warm temperatures and
beautiful beaches, … however, things have changed.
The alternative to the sun and beach tourism is
rural tourism which is growing stronger and stronger
in the Canary Island. This tendency is the fruit of the
promotional campaign carried out by the Canarian
Government’s Tourism Council in national and international fairs such as Fitur, Salón Map, Moscú or
ITB Berlín. During those events, the Canaries have
concentrated their offer on rural tourism and the
presentation of new quality standards on the islands.
Activities such as Water Sports Experience, Wellness
Delight, Family Welcome and Volcanic Experience are
the best calling cards when presenting the assets of
the archipelago for water sports, health, well-being,
active tourism or taking advantage of the rural environment and their volcanic peculiarities.
Although the Canarian community does not yet
have infrastructures as developed as other Spanish
autonomous communities, they have achieved very
positive results. The promised average length of
stay in the islands has reached 6,97 nights, which is
superior to the national average that does not reach
3 (2,81), as the National Statistics Institute (INE)
surveys show.
The sector has grown steadily over the past five
years. The amount of tourist visits has gone from
39.000 per year to 50.000 in 2010. The increase is
obvious although the figures are very far from those
of communities such as Castilla León, where rural
tourism is one of the main attractions, and gets over
600.000 visitors.
What has Fuerteventura got to offer?
On the island of Fuerteventura, tourists can combine the sun and beach tourism with sports and
rural tourism. The rural option offers a wide range
of possibilities that go a lot further than just rural
accommodation. Active tourism is fundamental for
agro-tourism to run well. Discovering rural jobs, collecting eggs direct from the chicken shed, enjoying
a nice horse ride or participating in agricultural tasks
are some of the activities that visitors can enjoy if they
decide to combine resting in a rural area that boasts
landscape and cultural assets.
Financial help for rural development
Since the end of March and until 17th May applica-
tions can be presented to request subventions from
the Gestión del Desarrollo Rural Maxorata Verde, GDR
Maxorata Association. This subvention that comes
to a total of 311.784 Euros, aims to promote the
development of rural areas on the island of Fuerteventura. Financial help will give a boost to agricultural and livestock activities, improve quality of life in
rural areas by promoting diversification, increase the
development of rural tourism or the creation of microcompanies related to the primary sector.

Der kanarische Archipel setzt auf den nachhaltigen
Tourismus und die ländliche Entwicklung als neues
Angebot für die Besucher.
Bis vor kurzem war ein Urlaub auf den Kanaren
ein Synonym für Sonne, gutes Wetter und schöne
Strände,… dies hat sich jedoch geändert.
Zu dem Tourismus mit Sonne und Strand gibt es
nun auf den kanarischen Inseln eine starke Alternative: Den ländlichen Tourismus. Dieser Trend entstand
aus den Werbeaktionen, die das Amt für Tourismus
der Regierung der Kanaren auf nationalen und internationalen Messen wie Fitur, Salón Map, der Messe
von Moskau und der ITB Berlin durchgeführt hat.
Bei diesen Events haben die Kanaren sich darauf
konzentriert, für den ländlichen Tourismus zu werben
und haben neue Qualitätsmaßstäbe für den Tourismus auf den Inseln präsentiert. Neue Kategorien wie
Water Sports Experience, Wellness Delight, Family
Welcome und Volcanic Experience sind die beste
Visitenkarte für die Werte, die der Archipel bieten
kann: Wassersport, Gesundheit und Wohlbefinden,
Aktivtourismus, das ländliche Leben und seine einzigartigen Vulkanlandschaften.
Obwohl die kanarische Gemeinschaft heute nicht
über eine so entwickelte und vollständige Infrastruktur verfügt wie andere autonome Regionen
Spaniens, gibt es sehr positive Zahlen. Die Besucher
übernachten im Durchschnitt 6,97 Nächte auf der
Insel. Das ist wesentlich mehr als der Durchschnitt
der Übernachtungen im gesamten Land, wo die
Besucher weniger als 3 Nächte bleiben (2,81). Dies
geht aus den vom Nationalen Statistischen Amt (INE)
veröffentlichten Untersuchungen hervor.
Aus den Zahlen geht hervor, dass der Sektor in den
letzten fünf Jahren ununterbrochen gewachsen ist.
Es wurden ungefähr 39.000 Touristen pro Jahr empfangen und die Anzahl der Besucher wird in diesem
Jahr 2010 die 50.000 überschreiten. Das Wachstum
ist unübersehbar, obwohl diese Zahlen noch weit
entfernt von denen der autonomen Regionen wie
Kastilien und Leon entfernt sind, wo der ländliche
Tourismus mit mehr als 600.000 Besuchern im Jahr
zu den wichtigsten Einnahmequellen gehört.
Was kann Fuerteventura bieten?
Auf der Insel Fuerteventura kann der Tourist seinen
Aufenthalt mit Sonne und Strand, mit Sporttourismus
oder mit dem ländlichen Tourismus verbinden. Wenn
er sich für den Urlaub auf dem Land entscheidet,
wird er zahlreiche neue Möglichkeiten entdecken,
die mehr sind als einfach eine Unterkunft auf dem
Land. Der Aktivtourismus ist sehr wichtig, damit der
ländliche Tourismus gut funktioniert. Die Besucher
können die ländlichen Arbeiten kennenlernen, Eier
direkt auf dem Hühnerhof einsammeln, reiten oder
an den Arbeiten des Bauernhofes teilnehmen und
sich gleichzeitig auf dem Land ausruhen und die
Landschaft sowie die örtliche Kultur genießen.
Ökonomische Hilfen für die ländliche
Entwicklung
Von Ende März bis zum 17. Mai läuft die Frist, um
Subventionen des Verbandes für das Management
der ländlichen Entwicklung „Grünes Maxorata“, GDR
Maxorata, zu beantragen. Mit dieser Promotion, die
über 311.784 Euro verfügt, wird beabsichtigt, die
Entwicklung der ländlichen Gebiete der Insel Fuerteventura zu fördern. Diese finanziellen Hilfen sind für
Projekte bestimmt, durch die die Konkurrenzfähigkeit
der Landwirtschaft und der Viehzucht gestärkt sowie
die Lebensqualität auf dem Land verbessert werden
soll. Die Diversifizierung wird durch die Entwicklung
des ländlichen Tourismus und durch die Unterstützung von Mikrounternehmen des Primärsektors
gefördert.

Se puede acceder a las grutas caminando sobre las rocas y mejor aún
nadando para poder contemplar sus
paisajes interiores, cuando el mar está
en calma. El Mirador, desde el que se
aprecia un paisaje fuerte de rocas mar
abierto con una vista de la pequeña playa del pueblecito típico de pescadores.
De camino hacia Ajuy, encontramos el
precioso valle de la Vega de Río Palma
y con el Santuario de la Virgen de la
Peña, patrona de la Isla, al que acuden
en masiva romería los peregrinos en el
mes de septiembre, y el Barranco de
las Peñitas donde se recoge el agua de
lluvia de forma natural.

La compañía aérea Ryanair vuelve a
Fuerteventura
Ryanair vuelve a Fuerteventura con 12 nuevas rutas
que conectan la isla con cinco países europeos y la
península.
La aerolínea comenzó a operar de nuevo en Fuerteventura el pasado 28 de marzo, fecha en la que se
puso en marcha la conexión con Madrid. Desde ese
momento, la isla dispone de tres vuelos semanales
(martes, jueves y domingo) a la capital española.
A nivel europeo, las nuevas rutas conectan Fuerteventura con ciudades como Bournemouth, Dublín,
East Midlands, Liverpool, Milán, Pisa, Bruselas,
Dusseldorf, Francfort, Glasgow y Londres Standsted.
Estos vuelos se pusieron en marcha a principios de
abril, salvo aquellos con destino East Midlands y
Londres Standsted , que se inaugurarán el 3 y el 5
de mayo, respectivamente. Una vez comiencen a
funcionar, la isla contará con un total de 25 vuelos
semanales, lo que supone una oferta de alrededor
de 5.000 plazas.
Este es el resultado de los contactos que, desde
el año 2006, ha mantenido el Gobierno de Canarias,
el Cabildo de Fuerteventura y representantes de la
compañía aérea. Por otra parte, supone la vuelta de
Ryanair a la isla tras dejarla en enero de 2009.
DINAMIZAR EL TURISMO
El retorno de Ryanair supone, en palabras de Mario
Cabrera, presidente del Cabildo, “más trabajo y mejor
economía, algo muy importante en esta época”. En
esta misma línea, Cabrera ha señalado que trata de
“un muy buen acuerdo” que “va a permitir dinamizar
el sector turístico de la isla”.
Y es que poder contar con suficientes plazas aéreas
garantiza un impulso al turismo. Los 200.000 turistas
que estas nuevas rutas traerán a Fuerteventura en
los próximos cuatro años son el mejor ejemplo de la
consecuencia de este tipo de acciones. Además, se
trata de un perfil de turista muy demandado por el
sector empresarial que huye del todo incluido y valora
otras opciones en la isla.
La consejera de Turismo, Águeda Montelongo,
ha apuntado que esta colaboración con Ryanair
se encuadra “en la estrategia de llegar a acuerdos
estratégicos con compañías de bajo coste para no
depender exclusivamente de los tour operadores”.
Asimismo, Montelongo indicó que contar con una
compañía de bajo coste contribuye “a incrementar el
gasto en destino y dinamizar la economía de la isla”.
Por parte de la compañía irlandesa, las expectativas son muy positivas. De hecho, el responsable
de marketing y ventas para España, Luis FernándezMellado, ha reconocido que confían plenamente en
que “en un futuro podemos seguir abriendo nuevos
mercados a Fuerteventura con lo que lograremos
aumentar y diversificar la llegada de turistas a la isla
desde cualquier punto de Europa”.
Ryanair tiene en la actualidad 41 bases y más de
1.100 rutas de bajo coste en 26 países, conectando
un total de 153 destinos. La empresa irlandesa dispone de una flota de 232 nuevos Boeing 737-800
con pedidos en firme para 82 nuevos aviones que
se entregarán a lo largo de los próximos dos años
y medio. Respecto a la plantilla, Ryanair cuenta con
más de 7.000 empleados y tiene previsto transportar
alrededor de 73 millones de pasajeros en el actual
año fiscal.

Ryanair comes back to Fuerteventura

Ryanair comes back to Fuerteventura with 12 new
routes that connect the island with five European
countries and mainland Spain.
The airline started operating again in Fuerteventura
on 28th March with a connexion to Madrid and there
are now three flights per week between the island
and the Spanish capital (Tuesdays, Thursdays and
Sundays).
On European level, the new routes connecting
Fuerteventura with other cities are with Bournemouth, Dublin, East Midlands, Liverpool,Milan, Pisa,
Brussels, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Glasgow and London
Stanstead. Those flights started operating from beginning of April apart from those from East Midlands
and London Stanstead that will start on 3rd and 5th
May respectively. Once the flights start operating,
there will be 25 weekly flights which represents about
5.000 seats.
This is the result of contacts which the Canarian
government and Fuerteventura’s Cabildo have maintained with representatives of the airline since 2006,
despite the fact that Ryanair had stopped flying to the
island since 2009.
Boost tourism
Mario Cabrera, the Cabildo’s president, confirmed that the return of Ryanair means “more work
and an improved economy which is very important
nowadays”. Mr. Cabrera also added that “it is a
very fruitful agreement” that “will boost the island’s
tourism industry”.
The increased number of seats guarantees improvements for the tourism industry. The 200.000
tourists that those new routes will bring to Fuerteventura over the next four years are the best example of
results of this kind of project. Furthermore those kind
of tourists are very demanded as they stay away from
the all inclusive packages and look for other options
on the island.
The island’s Tourism Councillor, Águeda Montelongo, added that this collaboration with Ryanair comes
within the “strategy to achieve strategic agreements
with low cost airlines in order not to depend totally on
tour operators”. In addition, Mrs. Montelongo indicated that low cost airlines contribute “to increase the
amount spent on the island and boost the island’s
economy”.
The Irish airline’s expectations are very positive
and the airline’s marketing and sale’s manager for
Spain, Luis Fernández-Mellado, agreed that they are
very confident “in the future and they will be able to
keep on creating new markets towards Fuerteventura
and will improve and diversify tourism that is sent to
the island from many parts of Europe”.
Ryanair currently has 41 bases and over 1.100
routes in 26 countries, connecting a total of 153
destinations. The Irish company consists of 232 new
Boeing 737-800 and has ordered another 82 new
air planes that will be delivered over the next two
and a half years. Ryanair has over 7.000 employees
and plans on transporting around 73.000 million
passengers this year.

Midlands, Liverpool, Mailand, Pisa, Brüssel, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Glasgow und London Standsted.
Diese Flüge finden seit April statt, nur die nach East
Midlands und nach London Standsted wird es erst ab
dem 3. und dem 5. Mai geben. Wenn der Flugplan
erst einmal angelaufen ist, kann die Insel mit 25
wöchentlichen Flügen insgesamt rechnen, was ein
Angebot von ungefähr 5.000 Plätzen darstellt.
Dieses ist das Ergebnis der Kontakte, die die Regierung
der Kanaren und der Cabildo von Fuerteventura seit dem
Jahr 2006 mit den Repräsentanten der Fluggesellschaft
gepflegt hat. Nun kommt Ryanair auf die Insel zurück, die
diese Fluggesellschaft im Januar 2009 verlassen hatte.
DYNAMISIERUNG DES TOURISMUS
Die Rückkehr von Ryanair bedeutet nach Worten
des Präsidenten des Cabildo, Mario Cabrera, „mehr
Arbeitsplätze und eine besser Wirtschaft, was in
diesen Zeiten sehr wichtig ist”. Außerdem betonte
Cabrera, dass ein sehr gutes “Abkommen” abgeschlossen wurde, das “die Tourismusbranche auf der
Insel dynamisieren wird”.
Durch die Tatsache, dass ausreichend Flüge zur
Verfügung stehen, wird der Tourismus angetrie-
ben. Die 200.000 Touristen, die in den nächsten
vier Jahren mit diesen Flügen nach Fuerteventura
kommen werden, sind das beste Beispiel für die
Auswirkungen derartiger Aktionen. Außerdem geht
es hier um Touristen, die für die Unternehmen der
Insel interessant sind, weil sie keine Reisen buchen,
bei denen alles im Preis inbegriffen ist.
Die Beauftragte für Tourismus, Águeda Montelongo,
hat darauf hingewiesen, dass diese Zusammenarbeit
mit Ryanair zu der „Strategie gehört, strategische
Abkommen mit Billigfluggesellschaften zu machen,
um nicht ausschließlich von Reiseveranstaltern
abhängig zu sein.” Montelongo sagte ebenfalls, dass
die Anwesenheit einer Billigfluggesellschaft dazu beiträgt „die Ausgaben der Touristen am Urlaubsort und
die Wirtschaft der Insel zu dynamisieren.“
Das irische Unternehmen erwartet äußerst positive
Ergebnisse. Der Verantwortliche für Marketing und
Verkauf in Spanien, Luis Fernández-Mellado, hat
gesagt, dass er ganz und gar darauf vertraut, dass
„wir in der Zukunft immer weitere neue Märkte für
Fuerteventura öffnen und immer mehr Touristen aus
ganz Europa auf die Insel bringen können”.
Ryanair verfügt heute über 41 Stützpunkte und
über mehr als 1.100 Low-Cost-Strecken in 26 Ländern
und verbindet insgesamt 153 Flugziele miteinander.
Die irische Fluggesellschaft verfügt über eine Flotte
von 232 neuen Boeing 737-800 und hat schon 82
neue Flugzeuge bestellt, die sie in den nächsten
zweieinhalb Jahren erhalten wird. Ryanair hat mehr
als 7.000 Beschäftigte und beabsichtigt, in diesem
Jahr ungefähr 73 Millionen Passagiere zu befördern.

María Sanz Esteve – Galardonada directora de cine por su corto Serendipia
“Fuerteventura, protagonista en las salas
de cine”
Fuerteventura vuelve a estar presente en las salas
de cine nacionales. Y esta vez no sólo como escenarios sino de protagonista principal.
El acontecimiento esta vez se debe a la concesión
del Premio del Público Madrid 2010 otorgado al cortometraje “Serendipia”, primer trabajo como directora
de María Sanz Esteve, en el marco del XIII Festival
de cortometrajes Curt Ficcions. El premio, que no
conlleva aportación económica, ofrece la realización
de dos copias en 35 milímetros que permitirán la programación del corto en las salas de cine comerciales
de más 20 ciudades españolas durante un año, logro
casi inalcanzable para este género de cine.
La directora, nos regala unos minutos de su tiempo para contarnos algunos datos de su trayectoria
cinematográfica y de su trabajo.
Residente en la isla desde hace 10 años, María
Sanz Esteve nació en Madrid y es licenciada en
Ciencias de la Imagen, aunque afirma rotundamente que lo que sabe de cine no lo aprendió en la
universidad. Su inquietud compulsiva y una pasión
casi obsesiva por el cine desde sus más tempranos
años, hicieron que en cuanto se pudo liberar del
yugo de la obtención de un título universitario, se
mudase a Londres donde vivió 7 años totalmente
involucrada en todas las oportunidades de trabajo
o prácticas que “olían a cine”, llegó por fin a poder
acceder a la filmoteca de esa ciudad donde, - nos
cuenta entusiasmada- además de poder ver todo
el cine que quería, de los más grandes maestros
del mundo entero… ¡Me pagaban por ello! – A partir
de ese momento, participó en varias producciones
como ayudante de producción, ayudante de dirección, coordinadora de extras, encargada de atrezzo,
decoradora y hasta como conductora del camión de
los eléctricos y maquinistas, para lo que tuvo que
sacarse el apropiado carnet… -Esa fue mi mejor
escuela ya que me permitió conocer muy de cerca y
en profundidad todas y cada una de las facetas del
cine- recuerda. Más tarde se traslada a Fuerteventura
donde nos dice– he encontrado el marco ideal para
desarrollar mi creatividad, sin el bombardeo al que
nos tiene sometidos la “aldea global”-.
La idea de “Serendipia” surgió de un micro-relato
de la escritora ecuatoriana, residente en Canarias,
Patricia Sacoto... “Una niña camina por un desierto
inmenso. Llegar a la tienda y volver puede ser una
bendición o una pesadilla. A veces solo depende de
la perspectiva de cada uno”. Ambientado en la isla
de Fuerteventura en los años 50, “Serendipia” puede
entenderse como una historia universal sobre épocas
difíciles... La historia narra el viaje de ida y vuelta de
Carmencita a una tienda para comprar unos pocos
víveres con que alimentar a su familia ese día... María
nos relata que- se trata de una historia real fabulada,
un cuento o un viaje, en el que lo bueno y lo malo de
la vida no es algo siempre evidente-.
Para su producción- recuerda la directora - he podido contar con un maravilloso equipo de profesionales
y aficionados incondicionales, sin los cuales nada
hubiese sido posible. Su producción ha estado a
cargo de Dunes Films, productora fundada por María
hace ya tres años, y patrocinado por el Gobierno de
Canarias, contando con la participación de Ventura
Films y Sebastián Álvarez como productores asociados, y la colaboración del Cabildo de Fuerteventura.
A la cabeza del reparto está Asiria Suárez Álvarez, en
el papel de Carmencita; Soledad Aguiar Montelongo,
como Señá Manuela y Lorenza Machín, interpretando
a Abuela. Además aparecen en la historia, vecinos
de Fuerteventura como Suso Machín o María Jesús
Martínez Ruíz (la verdadera protagonista de esta historia). La elaboración de la música ha contado con la
composición de una banda sonora original de Miguel
Pérez Díaz y la introducción de temas cedidos por el
timplista majorero Domingo Rodríguez “El colorao”
además del grupo tinerfeño Non Trubada.
Después de conversar con María y ver en sus ojos la
emoción que le provocan los recuerdos de la preproducción, rodaje y montaje de su galardonado cortometraje,
se comprende mejor por qué lo llaman 7º arte (aunque
no se entiende muy bien la catalogación de séptimo).

“Fuerteventura, main character on the big
screen”
Fuerteventura is back on the national cinema
screens. And this time not only as the scenery but
as the main character.
The event is due to the short film “Serendipia”
being awarded the Premio del Público Madrid 2010
which is the first film that María Sanz Esteve directed
within the 13th Curt Ficcions short film Festival. The
prize which does not consist of any financial reward,
offers for two copies in 35 millimetres of the film to
be made so that the film can be shown in cinemas in
over 20 Spanish towns during one year, which would
otherwise be unfeasible for this type of film.
The director granted us a few minutes of her time
to give us a few details about her cinematographic
path and her work.
María Sanz Esteve has been a resident on the
island for 10 years, she was born in Madrid and graduated in Sciences of Image although she confirms
that she didn’t learn from university what she knows
about cinema. Her restlessness and almost obsessive
passion about cinema from a very young age made
her move to London as soon as she graduated from
University. She lived there for 7 years completely
immersed in any opportunities of work or activities
related to cinema and she finally managed to access
the city’s film library,- she tells us enthusiasticallywhere in addition to being able to watch as much
cinema as she wanted, from the greatest masters in
the world…they used to pay her to do it! – from this
moment on, she participated in various productions
as production assistant, director’s assistant, extras’
coordinator, dressing room manager, decorator and
even driver of the electronics and machinists truck,
which she had to pass the appropriate licence for… This was her best school and allowed her to find out
in depth about every aspect of cinema. She then
moved to Fuerteventura where she says she found the
perfect environment to develop her creativity without
the influence of globalisation.
The idea of “Serendipia” came from a micro-tale of
the Ecuadorian writer, who lives in the Canaries, Patricia
Sacoto… “A child walks in an immense desert. To reach
the shop and come back can be a blessing or a nightmare. Sometimes it only depends from each person’s own
perspective”. Set on the island of Fuerteventura in the
50’s, “Serendipia” can be seen as universal story about
difficult times… The story tells about the return trip of
Carmencita to a shop to buy a few groceries in order to
feed her family… María tells us that it is a fiction based
on a true story, a tale or a trip, where the good and the
bad sides of life are not always clear.
For the production, the director recalls that she
was able to rely on a great team of professionals and
unconditional enthusiasts, whose input was indispensible. The production was paid by Dunes Films,
a production company created by María three years
ago, which is sponsored by the Canarian Government
and benefits from the participation of Ventura Films
and Sebastián Álvarez as associate producers and
the collaboration of Fuerteventura’s Cabildo. Asiria
Suárez Álvarez got the role of Carmencita; Soledad
Aguiar Montelongo was Señá Manuela and Lorenza
Machín interpreted Abuela. Furthermore, some residents of the island appeared in the story such as
Suso Machín or María Jesús Martínez Ruíz (the true
protagonist of this story). The music creation consisted of an original sound track from Miguel Pérez Díaz
and the introduction of themes given by the Majoreo
Timple player Domingo Rodríguez “El colorao” and the
group from Tenerife called “Non Trubada”.
After our chat with María and seeing in her eyes the
emotion brought back with memories of the production,
filming and editing of her prized short-film, we now understand why it is called the 7th art (although it is difficult
to really understand the reason for its seventh ranking).

“Fuerteventura spielt im Kino die Hauptrolle”
Fuerteventura kommt wieder in die spanischen
Kinos. Diesmal ist die Insel nicht Kulisse, sondern
Hauptdarstellerin.
Das liegt daran, dass der Kurzfilm „Serendipia”
den Publikumspreis Madrid 2010 bekam. Es ist der
erste Film der Regisseurin María Sanz Esteve und
er wurde im Rahmen des XIII. Kurzfilmfestivals Curt
Ficcions vorgeführt. Es ist kein Geldpreis, aber der
Gewinner bekommt die Möglichkeit, zwei Kopien in
35 Milimeter-Format zu machen, so dass der Kurzfilm
in den kommerziellen Kinos von mehr als 20 spanischen Städten gezeigt werden kann. Dies ist für einen
Kurzfilm etwas fast Unerreichbares.
Die Regisseurin schenkt uns einige Minuten ihrer
Zeit, um uns etwas über ihren Werdegang und über
ihre Arbeit zu erzählen.
María Sanz Esteve lebt seit zehn Jahren auf der
Insel. Sie wurde in Madrid geboren und studierte
Bildwissenschaften aber sie erklärt, dass sie das,
was sie über Kino weiß, nicht an der Uni gelernt hat.
Ihre zwangshafte Unruhe und eine fast besessene
Leidenschaft für das Kino seit früher Jugend haben
dazu geführt, dass sie nach der Uni nach London zog,
wo sie 7 Jahre gelebt hat und alle möglichen Jobs
und Praktika machte, die mit Kino zu tun hatten. Sie
erzählt uns begeistert, dass sie es sogar schaffte, zur
Filmothek dieser Stadt zu kommen, wo sie nicht nur
alle Filme der wichtigsten Regisseure der Welt sehen
konnte, die sie wollte, sondern auch noch dafür bezahlt wurde! – Von nun an nahm sie an Produktionen
als Produktionsassistentin, Regieassistentin, Koordinatorin, Zuständige für Requisiten, Dekorateurin und
sogar Fahrerin des Lastwagens für die Elektriker und
Techniker teil … -Sie erinnert sich: „Das war für mich
die beste Schule, da ich auf diese Weise alles, was mit
dem Film zu tun hatte, selbst kennenlernen konnte.
Sie erzählt uns, dass sie später nach Fuerteventura
zog, wo sie die ideale Umgebung gefunden hat, um
ihre Kreativität zu entwickeln, ohne von der globalisierten Welt bombardiert zu werden.
Die Idee von „Serendipia” entstand aus einer Kurzgeschichte der auf den Kanaren lebenden ecuadorianischen Schriftstellerin Patricia Sacoto: „Ein Mädchen
läuft durch eine große Wüste. Der Weg zu einem
Geschäft kann ein Segen oder ein Albtraum werden.
Die Handlung von „Serependia” spielt in den 50er
Jahren auf Fuerteventura. Man kann „Serendipia” als
universelle Geschichte über schwierige Zeiten verstehen... Die Geschichte erzählt den Hin- und Rückweg
von Carmencita, die sich zu einem Geschäft begibt, um
ein paar Lebensmittel zu kaufen, von denen sich ihre
Familie an diesem Tag ernähren sollte ... María erzählt
uns: Es ist eine realistische ausgedachte Geschichte,
ein Märchen über eine Reise, auf der nicht immer
eindeutig ist, was im Leben gut ist und was nicht .
Die Regisseurin erinnert sich daran, dass sie
während der Produktion von einem wunderbaren
Team von Fachleuten und Film-Begeisterten unterstützt wurde. Ihr Film wurde von
Dunes Films produziert, einer Produktionsgesellschaft, die María vor drei Jahren gegründet hat
und die von der Regierung der Kanaren gefördert
wird. Außerdem waren Ventura Films und Sebastián
Álvarez als assoziierte Produzenten beteiligt. Die Produktion wurde auch vom Cabildo von Fuerteventura
unterstützt. Die Hauptdarsteller sind Asiria Suárez Álvarez als Carmencita; Soledad Aguiar Montelongo als
Señá Manuela und Lorenza Machín in der Rolle der
Großmutter. Außerdem haben sich Bürger aus Fuerteventura wie Suso Machín und María Jesús Martínez
Ruíz (die wahre Hauptdarstellern dieser Geschichte)
beteiligt. Die Musik ist von Miguel Pérez Díaz. Dazu
kommen Lieder des aus Fuerteventura stammenden

Nachdem wir uns mit María unterhalten und die
Emotionen in ihren Augen gesehen haben, die in ihr
hochkommen, wenn sie sich an die Produktion, die
Dreharbeiten und die Montage des preisgekrönten
Kurzfilms erinnert, verstehen wir besser, warum das
Kino die siebte Kunst genannt wird. (Allerdings ist die
Klassifizierung als siebte nicht ganz verständlich.)

In April, the Maxo Sports Motor Racing and the Kart
teams met on the Karting Maxorata track in Puerto del
Rosario in order to show off their racing machines and
the season’s programme which recently started on

Saison
2010
Im April trafen sich die Mannschaften des Renns-
talles Maxo Sport und die Go-Kart-Mannschaften
im Karting Maxorata aus Puerto del Rosario, um
ihre tollen Ausrüstungen zu zeigen und die Programme für die Saison vorzustellen, die kürzlich bei
GESDEMUPA eröffnet wurde. Unter den teilnehmen
Fahrzeugenmüssen folgende erwähnt werden: Der
Mitsubishi von Manuel Gutiérrez, Paquito Vera und
Sergio López, der Lancia Delta von Juan Daniel de la
Cruz; der VW Polo Classic von José Yesey Rodríguez;
die Toyota Corolla von Ayose Cerdeña, Daniel Guerra

Dazu kommen der Lotus Elan aus dem Jahr 59 sowie
der MK Indy, der dem in Morro Jable lebenden Anwalt
Gregorio Fontanilla gehört. Es ist ein edler Fiat 131,
der wunderbar von Luis Ascanio restauriert wurde
und verschiedene modernere Wagen in Privatbesitz,
wie der Mitsubishi und der Subaru.
Der Festakt begann mit der Präsentation auf der
Go-Kart-Piste. Nach dem offiziellen Teil der Veranstaltung, wurden die Fahrzeug auf der Rennstrecke
präsentiert. Das zur Verfügung stehende Personal
war in der Lage, nach Anweisungen des Besitzers
dieser sportlichen Einrichtung, die besonderen
Qualitäten dieser Autos zu zeigen. Danach wurden
die Wagen von den Teilnehmern selbst vorgeführt,
die die Zuschauer wieder einmal mit ihrer Fähigkeit
leidenschaftlich zu konkurrieren begeisterten.

Hasta el 4 de junio sólo se recaudarán las tasas
de vehículos, vados, y basura domiciliaria. El Ayuntamiento de Antigua, con el fin de facilitar el pago de
tasas e impuestos a todos los vecinos y residentes
en el municipio, divide en dos períodos diferenciados
de pagos las tasas municipales.
Así con el fin de facilitar a los contribuyentes el
pago de impuestos municipales, el Ayuntamiento,
los fracciona en dos períodos diferenciados durante
el ejercicio 2010, estableciendo el pasado primer
período de pago del 5 de abril al 4 de junio, ambas
fechas inclusive, y el segundo período del 1 de octubre al 30 de noviembre.
El primer período se destinó al cobro del Impuesto
sobre Vehículos de Tracción Mecánica, Tasa por
Vados y Tasa por Basura Domiciliaria, y el segundo
período, incluye el pago del Impuesto sobre Bienes
Inmuebles Urbanos, Impuesto sobre Actividades
Económicas y la Tasa por Basura Comercial.
La Concejalía de Economía y Hacienda que dirige
el alcalde Gustavo Berriel, establece y congela en un
0,45 la tasa impositiva que se cobra por Bienes Inmuebles, siendo después de Betancuria, el municipio
de la isla que más bajo establece este impuesto, sin
diferenciar tampoco entre zona residencial o turística.
Otras tasas o impuestos como el referido a vehículos tampoco han sufrido un incremento más allá
que la equiparación con el IPC anual, y referente al
impuesto domiciliario de basuras, queda establecido
en 30 euros.

dauert vom 5. April bis zum 4. Juni, die zweite vom 1.
Oktober bis zum 30. November.
In der ersten Phase werden die Steuern für Kraftfahrzeuge, Einfahrten und Hausmüll bezahlt. In der
zweiten Phase dagegen werden Steuern auf Immobilien, ökonomische Aktivitäten und die Gebühren
für Gewerbemüll.
Das Amt für Wirtschaft und Finanzwesen, das von
dem Bürgermeister, Gustavo Berriel, geleitet wird,
setzt die Steuer auf Immobilien auf 0,45 fest. Das ist
hinter Betancuria die Gemeinde der Insel, wo diese
Steuer am niedrigsten ist. Es wird kein Unterschied
zwischen Wohngegenden und touristischen Gegenden gemacht.
Andere Steuern, wie die Fahrzeugsteuer, wurden
auch nicht mehr erhöht als der jährliche Verbraucherpreisindex. Die Abgabe für Hausmüll beträgt
weiterhin 30 Euro.

MEDIATORS COURSES ON COHABITATION IN MULTI-CULTURAL AREAS
Local Police Agents, staff from the Culture, Social
Services, Fairs, Youth and other Councils and workers
from the Local Development Agency and the Citizen’s
Attention Office all attended mediators’ courses on
cohabitation in multi-cultural areas.
Courses consisted of 15 hours for technical groups
of 25 people which were spread over three days.
Mediators are very important in multi-cultural areas
in order to assist with socio-legal, socio-professional,
heath and educational matters.
Those courses aim at preparing the municipal
staff to help in various sectors of the community
and achieve better mutual knowledge that will make
cohabitation more successful.
University professor, Mr. Juan David García Pérez,
was in charge of the courses. He is an expert in social work, socio-educative matters and inter-cultural
mediation.
KURSE FÜR VERMITTLER IN DER MULTIKULTURELLEN GESELLSCHAFT
Agenten der örtlichen Polizei, Personal der Ämter
für Kultur, Soziales, Feste, Jungend und anderes
sowie Angestellte der Agentur für örtliche Entwicklung
und des Büros für Bürgerbetreuung der Gemeinde
haben einen Kurs für Vermittler für das Zusammenleben in der multikulturellen Gesellschaft absolviert.
Eine Gruppe von Technikern absolvierte diesen
15-stündigen Kurs, der drei Tage dauerte. Die interkulturellen Vermittler sind sehr wichtig für die
Lösung von sozialen Angelegenheiten im Bereiche
des Rechtes, der Arbeit, des Gesundheitswesen und
der Bildung.
Das Gemeindepersonal wird in diesen Kursen
darauf vorbereitet, wie es verschiedenen Gruppen
der Gemeinschaft helfen kann, sie sich gegenseitig
besser kennen zu lernen. Das trägt dazu bei, das
Zusammenleben zu verbessern.
Die Kurse wurden von dem Professor Juan David
García Pérez geleitet, einem Experten für Sozialarbeit,
sozio-pädagogische Intervention mit Minderjährigen,
kulturelle Vermittlung usw.
EL LIBRO-CUADERNO ‘LA LETRA MENUDA DE PÁJARA 2008-2009’ COMPILA 50
CUENTOS DE ESCOLARES
Agentes de la Policía Local, personal de las concejalías de Cultura, Servicios Sociales, Festejos, Juventud,
y otras, y trabajadores de la Agencia de Desarrollo
Local y de la Oficina de Atención al Ciudadano del
Ayuntamiento han realizado un curso de mediadores
para la convivencia en multi-culturalidad.
De 15 horas lectivas, esta propuesta formativa
llegó a un grupo de 25 técnicos durante tres días. La
figura de los/las mediadores/as interculturales son
fundamentales para la resolución de asuntos de tipo
socio-jurídico, socio-laboral, sanitario y educativo.
En estos cursos se trata de preparar al personal
municipal para que pueda ayudar a los diferentes
sectores de la comunidad a lograr un mayor conocimiento mutuo que facilite su participación para el
logro de unos resultados óptimos en la convivencia.
Los cursos fueron impartidos por el profesor universitario Juan David García Pérez, experto en trabajo
social, intervención socioeducativa con menores,
mediación intercultural, etc
El Magno Salón de Plenos del Ayuntamiento acogió,
el pasado mes, la presentación del libro-cuaderno ‘La
letra menuda de Pájara 2008-2009’, que compila 50
cuentos cortos escritos el pasado curso lectivo por
parte del alumnado de 4º, 5º, 6º de Primaria y 1º de
la ESO de la localidad.
La concejalía de Cultura, con motivo de la celebración en el municipio el Día del Libro de 2009,
impartió charlas en todos los centros educativos de

la localidad para explicar cómo escribir un cuento y
para animar a los y las escolares a que lo hicieran.
La iniciativa llegó a más de 250 alumnos y alumnas;
de los cuales 50 se animaron a escribir un cuento.
Se espera que en esta ocasión sean más de 50
los escolares que se decidan a escribir un cuento
corto para incluirlos en el libro-cuaderno del próximo
año; pues cuando reciban las charlas podrán leer
algunos de los ahora publicados y admirarán el librocuaderno, muy elegante y bellamente maquetado, lo
que supondrá un reclamo más.
Se entregarán ejemplares de ‘La letra menuda de
Pájara 2008-2009’ al alumnado que tomó parte en
esta propuesta, al igual que a los equipos directivos
de los centros y el profesorado, aparte de que se
donarán varios ejemplares a las bibliotecas municipales, a las de los colegios y a la biblioteca del IES
Jandía.
50 STORIES FROM SCHOOLCHILDREN
GATHERED IN A BOOK CALLED ‘LA LETRA
MENUDA DE PÁJARA 2008-2009’
The Ayuntamiento’s Great Congress Centre hosted
last month the presentation of the book “La letra
menuda de Pájara 2008-2009” that contains 50
stories written over the past term by schoolchildren
of the municipality (Primaria 4º, 5º, 6º and ESO 1º).
At the occasion of the 2009 World Book Day, the
Culture Council organised some meetings in the
area’s schools to explain how to write a story and
to motivate schoolchildren to participate. Over 250
schoolchildren participated in the initiative of which
50 wrote a story.
For next year’s book project, it is hoped that more
than 50 children will decide to write a story; during the
next meetings, some of the published stories will be
read from this lovely book which is elegant and very
well put together and which will contribute to making
more publicity about it.
Copies of “La letra menuda de Pájara 2008-2009”
will be handed over to schoolchildren who participated in the initiative as well as the teachers and
centre’s Management teams. Various copies will
also be given to municipal libraries and to IES Jandía
schools and libraries.

AUS PAJARA 2008-2009 ENTHÄLT 50
MÄRCHEN
Im vergangenen Monat fand im großen Plenarsaal
der Gemeinde die Präsentation des Heftes ‘La letra
menuda de Pájara 2008-2009’ statt, das 50 Märchen enthält, welche im vergangenen Schuljahr von
Schülern der 4., 5., 6. Klasse der Grundschule und
des ersten ESO-Jahrgangs des Ortes geschrieben
wurde.
Zum Tag des Buches 2009 in der Gemeinde veranstaltete das Amt für Kultur Vorträge in den Schulen des
Ortes, um zu erklären, wie man ein Märchen schreibt,
und die Schüler dazu anzuregen es zu tun. Zu dieser
Initiative kamen mehr als 250 Schüler und Schülerinnen, von denen 50 selbst ein Märchen schrieben.
Man geht davon aus, dass diesesmal mehr als 50
Schüler entscheiden werden, ein kurzes Märchen für
das Heft des nächsten Jahres zu schreiben. Wenn sie
dann zu der Veranstaltung gehen, können sie einige
dieser Märchen in dem schönen und eleganten Heft
sehen, das ihnen sehr gut gefallen wird.
Die Schüler, die Leiter und die Lehrer bekommen
Exemplare von ‘La letra menuda de Pájara 2008-
2009’. Außerdem werden weitere Exemplare an die
Bibliotheken der Gemeinde, an die Schulen und an
die Bibliothek des IES Jandía übergeben.
V JORNADAS DE APROVECHAMIENTO
EDUCATIVO PARA EL ALUMNADO DEL IES
JANDÍA DE MORRO JABLE
El pasado 15 de abril, el IES Jandía de Morro Jable
acogió las V Jornadas de Aprovechamiento Educativo,
iniciativa organizada por la concejalía de Educación
del Ayuntamiento, en la que también colabora la
concejalía de Cultura, y que ofrecerá a parte del
alumnado de ese centro un taller sobre la influencia
de los prejuicios en el éxito o fracaso escolar.
Esta iniciativa tiene como objetivos dar a conocer
y hacer reflexionar sobre cómo se construyen los
prejuicios y los estereotipos, así como dar a conocer
entre los alumnos y alumnas la relación entre estas
circunstancias y el fracaso escolar, y que también se
profundizará en los modos de influencia de la automotivación para reducir los estereotipos y prejuicios
que dificultan el buen rendimiento escolar.
Títeres para amar la lectura
Por otro lado, el pasad viernes, 16 de abril, el Salón
de Plenos del Ayuntamiento acogió una función de
títeres impulsada por el Cabildo Insular y la Concejalía
de Cultura del Ayuntamiento.
La obra, ‘Lo aprendí leyendo’, es un espectáculo
ofrecido por los alumnos de la Escuela Taller Animarte, una oferta cultural encaminada a promocionar el
amor por la lectura y destinada al alumnado de 2º y
3º de Primaria del CEIP Pájara.
5TH EDUCATIONAL OPEN DAYS FOR
SCHOOLCHILDREN OF IES JANDÍA OF
MORRO JABLE
On 15th April, the IES Jandía of Morro Jable hosted
the 5th Educational Open Days, an initiative that is organised by the Ayuntamiento’s Education Council with
the collaboration of the Culture Council and that aims at
giving information to schoolchildren about the influence
of prejudices on their education’s success or failure.
This initiative’s objective is to point out and make
schoolchildren think about prejudices and stereotypes and make them understand the relation between
those circumstances and education failure. The
initiative also goes in depth about the influence of
self-motivation in order to reduce stereotypes and
prejudices that endanger education performances.
Puppets to promote reading
On the other hand, on Friday 16th April, the
Ayuntamiento’s Congress Centre hosted a puppet
show organised by the Island’s Cabildo and the
Ayuntamiento’s Culture Council.
The show called “Lo aprendí leyendo” (I learned
that by reading) was organised by children from the
Animarte School Workshop. This cultural initiative
aims at getting children to enjoy reading and was
destined to schoolchildren from the Primaria 2º and
3º from CEIP Pájara.
V. TAGE DER BILDUNGSNUTZUNG FÜR
DIE SCHÜLER DES IES JANDÍA DE MORRO JABLE
Am 15. April fanden im IES Jandía in Morro Jable die
V. Tage der Bildungsnutzung statt. Diese Initiative wird
vom Amt für Bildung der Gemeinde organisiert und vom
Amt für Kultur unterstützt. Einem Teil der Schüler dieser
Schule wird ein Kurs über den Einfluss von Vorurteilen
auf Erfolg und Scheitern in der Schule angeboten.
Durch diese Initiative sollen die Schüler lernen,
wie Vorurteile und Stereotypen entstehen, und darüber nachdenken. Außerdem sollen die Schüler und
Schülerinnen den Zusammenhang zwischen diesen
Gegebenheiten und dem Versagen in der Schule
kennenlernen, und es wird auch über den Einfluss der
Selbstmotivierung gesprochen, um die Stereotypen
und Vorurteile zu verringern, durch die der Erfolg in
der Schule erschwert wird.
Puppentheater um das Lesen zu lieben
Außerdem fand am Freitag den 16. April im Plenarsaal der Gemeinde eine Puppentheateraufführung
statt, die vom Cabildo der Insel und dem Amt für
Kultur der Gemeinde organisiert wurde.
Das Stück ‘Ich habe es lesend gelernt’ wird von
Schülern der Werkschule Animarte aufgeführt.
Dieses kulturelle Angebot ist darauf ausgerichtet,
die Liebe zum Lesen zu fördern, und ist für Schüler
der 2. und der 3. Klasse der Grundschule des CEIP
Pájara bestimmt.

Como se hizo en la edición anterior del carnaval
capitalino, la Concejalía de Festejos y Actos Populares del Ayuntamiento, ha desplegado una serie
de urnas de votación por distintos centros, donde el
ciudadano puede elegir su opción de alegoría para el
carnaval 2011, dentro de las tres propuestas que se
relacionan: Las Golosinas, el Mundo del espectáculo
y El mar.
Todas las personas podrán depositar la papeleta de
votación marcando la opción que prefieran en las urnas dispuestas en las dependencias de la Oficina de
Atención al ciudadano, los colegios del municipio, la
Biblioteca Municipal, el Centro de Mayores o a través

Genau wie im vorherigen Jahr hat das Amt für Volksfeste der Gemeinde Wahlurne in verschiedenen
Zentren aufgestellt, so dass die Bürger die Allegorie
für den Karneval 2011 wählen können. Es gibt drei
Vorschläge: Naschwerk, die Welt der Shows und das
Meer.
Alle können auf ihrem Wahlschein den von ihnen
bevorzugten Vorschlag ankreuzen und diesen dann in
eine der Wahlurnen tun, die in den Büros für Bürgerbetreuung, den öffentlichen Schulen, der Bibliothek
und den Seniorenzentren aufgestellt wurden. Man
kann aber auch über die Website der Gemeinde
www.puertodelrosario.org wählen. Die Frist läuft bis
zum 18. Juni.

COMIENZAN LAS SESIONES DE ANIMACIÓN A LA LECTURA DE LOS SÁBADOS
EN LA BIBLIOTECA MUNICIPAL
Im April begannen in der öffentlichen Bibliothek
der Gemeinde die Theateraufführungen im Rahmen
des Gemeindeplans für die Förderung des Lesens,
der vom Amt für Kultur durchgeführt wird. Dieses
Mal präsentierte die Theaterproduktionsfirma „Espíritu de Sal”, die beauftragt ist, alle Aufführungen zu
koordinieren, das Stück „Don Calderón de la Canoa y
la Musa Pelusa“. Ungefähr 50 Jungen und Mädchen
schauten dieses besondere Stück in dem wunderbaren Rahmen der Welt der Bücher an.
Es werden weiterhin Aufführungen im Kinderbereich der Bibliothek stattfinden. Alle haben etwas
mit Kinderliteratur zu tun. Es gibt Märchen, Puppentheater usw. Die Aufführungen, zu denen die ganze
Familie kommen kann, sind bis Dezember immer am
ersten Samstag des Monats ab 10:30h.

El pasado mes de abril, daba comienzo en la
Biblioteca Pública Municipal las representaciones
teatrales dentro del Plan Municipal de Animación a
la Lectura que lleva a cabo la Concejalía de Cultura
del Ayuntamiento. En esa ocasión la productora teatral “Espíritu de Sal”, encargada de coordinar todas
las funciones, representó la obra Don Calderón de
la Canoa y la Musa Pelusa. Unos 50 niños y niñas
disfrutaron de este peculiar espectáculo en torno al
maravilloso mundo de los libros y la lectura.
Las obras continuarán representándose en el área
infantil del recinto bibliotecario y todas tendrán una
vinculación directa con la literatura para niños bajo
distintas fórmulas, cuentacuentos, teatro de títeres,
etc. Las convocatorias, a las que podrá asistir toda la
familia tendrán lugar los primeros sábados de cada
mes a partir de las 10:30h y hasta diciembre.

THE READING SESSIONS START AT THE
MUNICIPAL LIBRARY
In April, the Public Municipal Library started theatre
performances within the Municipal Reading Encouragement Plan carried out by the Ayuntamiento’s Culture Council. The theatre producer “Espíritu de Sal”,

50 children enjoyed this special show that illustrated
the wonderful world of books and reading.
The performances will continue in the library’s
children’s area and they will all be related to children’s
literature under various types such as story readings,
puppet shows, etc. The performances which are open
to the whole family, will take place on the first Saturday of each month from 10.30 a.m. until December.

In April, the “1er Abierto de Ajedrez”, La Caja de
Canarias/Ayuntamiento de Tuineje took place at the
same time as the island’s cadet, infant and under
10’s competitions.

El Cabildo de Fuerteventura recibió el pasado mes
de abril la visita de los 18 alumnos que participaban
en un programa de intercambio entre los institutos
IES Gran Tarajal (Tuineje) y Max-Planck-Schule, de la
localidad de Rüsselheim (cerca de Frankfurt).
Los profesores de alemán del IES Gran Tarajal y de
español en el centro germano son los promotores de
una iniciativa que pretende incentivar a sus alumnos
a conocer sus respectivas lenguas extranjeras y a
interesarse por otras culturas. Durante esta visita
los siete estudiantes alemanes participaron en un
programa en el que las clases en las aulas se combinaron con una serie de visitas culturales por toda
la isla.
El consejero de Educación y Juventud del Cabildo,
Claudio Gutiérrez, y el gerente del Patronato de Turismo de Fuerteventura, Jota Cabrera, que recibieron a
la comitiva en el salón de plenos de la Corporación,
destacaron la importancia de celebrar este tipo de
encuentros e intercambios para fomentar el entendimiento cultural entre las sociedades de Fuerteventura y Alemania, destacando en este sentido la enorme
influencia que ejerce el mercado turístico germano
en la economía de la Isla majorera.

SCHOOLCHILDREN FROM IES GRAN TARAJAL AND A GERMAN INSTITUTE
Fuerteventura’s Cabildo received in April the visit of
18 schoolchildren who participated in an exchange
programme between the schools of IES Gran Tarajal
and Max-Planck-Schule of Rüsselheim (close to
Frankfurt).
The German teachers of IES Gran Tarajal and Spanish teacher of the German school promoted this initiative that aims at motivating schoolchildren to learn
foreign languages and take interest in foreign cultures. During their visit, the seven German students
participated in a programme that combined lessons
in classrooms with cultural visits all over the island.
The Cabildo’s Education and Youth Councillor, Claudio
Gutiérrez, and Fuerteventura’s Tourism Board director, Jota Cabrera, welcomed the group at the Cabildo
and commented on the importance of this type of encounters and exchanges in order to promote greater
cultural understanding between Fuerteventura and
Germany and also pointed out the great influence of
the German tourism market for the Majorero Island’s
economy.

Schüler, die an einem Austauschprogramm zwischen den Schulen IES Gran Tarajal (Tuineje) und
Max-Planck-Schule in Rüsselheim (in der Nähe von
Frankfurt) teilgenommen haben.
Die Deutschlehrer des IES Gran Tarajal und die
Spanischlehrer der deutschen Schule sind die Promotoren dieser Initiative, durch die die Schüler ihre
Sprachkenntnisse verbessern und sich für andere
Kulturen interessieren sollen. Während diesem
Besuch nahmen die sieben deutschen Schüler an
einem Programm teil, bei dem der Unterricht im
Klassenzimmer mit kulturellen Ausflügen auf der Insel
verbunden wurde.
Der Beauftragte für Bildung und Jugend des Cabildo,
Claudio Gutiérrez, und der Direktor des Patronats für
Tourismus von Fuerteventura, Jota Cabrera, empfingen die Gruppe im Plenarsaal der Inselregierung. Sie
betonten, dass derartige Treffen und Austausche sehr
wichtig sind, damit sich die Bürger von Fuerteventura
und Deutschland besser kennen lernen. Außerdem
wies er darauf hin, dass der deutsche Markt sehr
wichtig für die Wirtschaft der Insel ist.
EL AYUNTAMIENTO REPARTIÓ 150 VIAJES DE PICÓN A LOS VECINOS Y AGRICULTORES DEL MUNICIPIO
El consistorio ha repartido más de 150 viajes de
este material extraído de la Caldera de La Laguna, en
Tiscamanita, tanto a particulares como a agricultores
del municipio.
La campaña se ha marcado un doble objetivo. Por
un lado, embellecer las fincas y jardines de los vecinos del municipio para lograr una imagen homogénea
y única de este material propio de nuestra tierra y,
por otro lado, incentivar la economí¬a municipal ya
que estos viajes ayudan a la pequeña y mediana
empresa de Tuineje en un contexto económico en el
que las empresas necesitan el apoyo de las administraciones para sortear la crisis. La campaña ha sido
bien acogida tanto por agricultores y particulares
como por transportistas ya que ayuda a sobrellevar
la crisis económica, fomentando y dinamizando el
tejido productivo de Tuineje después de la dura crisis
que ha azotado la isla de Fuerteventura durante todo
el año 2009.
THE AYUNTAMIENTO DISTRIBUTES 150
LOADS OF PICÓN TO RESIDENTS AND
FARMERS OF THE MUNICIPALITY
The Ayuntamiento has distributed over 150 loads
of picón extracted from Caldera de La Laguna, in
Tiscamanita to both residents and farmers of the
municipality.
The campaign has a double objective. Firstly to
improve and embellish the fincas and gardens of the
municipality’s residents and in order to achieve a uniform and unique appearance thanks to this material
extracted from the island itself and secondly for the
municipal economy as the transport of those loads of
Picón help the small and medium size businesses of
Tuineje in a financial context where local businesses
need help from the administration in order to get over
the crisis. The campaign was adopted well amongst
farmers, residents and transport businesses as it
helps getting over the financial crisis by promoting and
boosting Tuineje’s productive network after the tough
crisis that hit the island of Fuerteventura in 2009.

Die Inselregierung hat mehr als 150 Gegenstände
aus diesem Material an Privatpersonen und Landwirte verteilt, das aus der Caldera de La Laguna in
Tiscamanita stammt.
Mit dieser Kampagne wird zweierlei beabsichtigt.
Einerseits sollen die Höfe und Gärten der Bürger
der Gemeinde verschönert werden, um mit diesem
Material aus unserer Heimat ein einheitliches und einzigartiges Bild zu erzeugen. Außerdem soll dadurch
die Wirtschaft der Gemeinde gefördert, denn diese
Gegenstände helfen den kleinen und mittelgroßen
Unternehmen aus Tuineje in einer Zeit, in der die
Unternehmen öffentliche Unterstützung brauchen,
um die Wirtschaftskrise zu bewältigen. Die Kampagne
wurde von Landwirten, Privatpersonen und Transportunternehmen gut aufgenommen, da sie nach der
harten Krise, welche die Insel Fuerteventura 2009
getroffen hat, dazu beiträgt, die Wirtschaftskrise zu
überleben, und den die Wirtschaft von Tuineje fördert
und dynamisiert.

“La entidad agrupa los municipios de
Antigua, Pájara, Tuineje y Betancuria”
Como consecuencia de la celebración del III Encuentro Intercultural celebrado en Gran Tarajal con
el nombre de “Fuerteventura Mar de Culturas” y
como evento principal del proyecto”Centro Sur Integra 2009”, nos hemos acercado para saber más de
sus organizadores, y nos hemos reunido con Rosa
María del Barrio, actual gerente de la Mancomunidad
Centro Sur y profunda conocedora de esta labor ya
que lleva trabajando en estos proyectos desde el
año 2002.
¿Podría explicarnos qué es la Mancomunidad
Centro Sur, para nuestros lectores?
La Mancomunidad Centro Sur existe desde el año
1999. Es una entidad pública que pertenece a cuatro
municipios: Antigua, Betancuria, Pájara y Tuineje y se
creó con el objetivo de prestar una serie de servicios
de forma conjunta o mancomunada con el fin de ahorrar costes, así como el acceso a distintos programas
y subvenciones que por sí solos no podrían obtener.
A lo largo del año llevamos a cabo numerosos proyectos y múltiples servicios. Un 75% de nuestro presupuesto corresponde a subvenciones provenientes
fundamentalmente del Servicio Canario de Empleo a
través de fondos Europeos, así como del Gobierno de
Canarias y Cabildo Insular de Fuerteventura, el 25%
restante corresponde a Fondos Propios.
¿Cuál es la principal labor de la Mancomunidad?
Existe un área social formada por un equipo especializado en la atención a menores en situación
de riesgo, para los cuatro ayuntamientos, también
prestamos asesoramiento jurídico para el apoyo a la
convivencia y a la familia. Es una jurista que atiente a
las personas que demanden el servicio en los cuatro
municipios.
A través de un Convenio con el Cabildo gestionamos el Centro de Día de Rehabilitación Psicosocial
de Gran Tarajal. Y por último en el ámbito social
el proyecto Centro Sur Integra subvencionado por
la Vice-consejería de Inmigración del Gobierno de
Canarias. Se realiza una vez al año y suele coincidir
con los últimos dos meses del año y comienzos del
siguiente.
Dentro de este programa, se ofrece atención al
inmigrante asesorándole jurídicamente para la obtención de documentos como informes de arraigo, así
como actividades que contribuyan a su integración
sociocultural, como clases de español básico para
extranjeros, talleres de artesanía, torneos de fútbol,
entre otros.
Hemos visto que el broche de este III Encuentro
Intercultural ha tenido una gran participación y
actuaciones, artísticas muy variadas.
Realmente ha estado muy bien, con más de 400
personas participantes, y con demostraciones folklóricas de distintos países, así como musicales,
deportivas etc.
¿Esta labor se centraliza en Gran Tarajal, o bien
se desplazan a cada municipio?
Únicamente el Centro de Día que se encuentra en
Gran Tarajal está centralizado, todos los servicios
del ámbito social comentados se prestan mediante
cita previa, desplazándose los distintos técnicos a
cada uno de los municipios que lo demanden. Igualmente las clases de español se han impartido en El
Castillo, Gran Tarajal y Costa Calma que es donde
más se demanda.
También el servicio de recogida de animales, esta
mancomunado en los cuatro ayuntamientos y el centro se encuentra en el municipio de Tuineje.
La Mancomunidad tiene además una agencia de
empleo y desarrollo local con tres agentes, que entre

otras funciones realizan asesoramiento empresarial,
actividades relacionadas con la formación y el empleo, por ejemplo una bolsa de empleo en la que se
gestionan ofertas de todo tipo.
¿Entonces la bolsa de empleo no pertenece al
I.N.E.M.?
No, son independientes, pero siempre informamos
que es conveniente que se inscriban la oficina de
empleo también.
Otra de las funciones de la Agencia de la Mancomunidad es la elaboración de proyectos que detectan
nuevas oportunidades de formación y empleo, que
se presentan al Servicio Canario de Empleo para ser
aprobados y subvencionados.
¿En qué consisten esos proyectos?
Pueden ser convenios o escuelas- taller y talleres
de empleo, son proyectos de formación y empleo, ya
que el alumnado firma un contrato laboral de formación por el recibe un salario que varía en el caso de
las escuelas para jóvenes de 16 a 24 años y de los
talleres para mayores de 25 años.
Digamos que los alumnos se convierten en empleados de la Mancomunidad, por el tiempo que dura su
formación. Es imprescindible que sean residentes
dentro de los cuatro municipios en todos los casos.
Por una parte se les da la preparación a los jóvenes
antes de su primer trabajo y por otro lado se aporta
otra opción laboral a personas ya adultas, que no
encuentran la salida adecuada para la actividad que
venían realizando.
¿Qué deben hacer las personas que deseen acceder a estos talleres y escuelas?
Lo primero, tienen que estar inscritos en la oficina
de empleo, ya que ellos realizan el sondeo para seleccionar a los candidatos que cumplan el perfil para
los distintos cursos que realizamos. Estos cursos y
proyectos se basan en las necesidades que detecta
la agencia de empleo y desarrollo local. Hemos
hecho cursos de rehabilitación y mantenimiento de
edificios, de seguridad y emergencias, de jardinería
y restauración de áreas degradadas, dinamizadores
turísticos etc. Recientemente ha finalizado el proyecto denominado O.P.E.A. orientación para el empleo
y el autoempleo, en que atendimos a más de 300
personas, asesorando como hacer un curriculum,
una entrevista de trabajo, como darse de alta en
autónomos, que subvenciones pueden conseguir, etc.
Ahora hemos presentado otros dos proyectos que
estamos esperando que nos aprueben, para nuevas
salidas de empleo.

At the occasion of the celebration of the Third Intercultural Encounter celebrated in Gran Tarajal under
the banner “Fuerteventura Mar de Culturas” and with
the project “Centro Sur Integra 2009” as the main
event, we went along in order to find out more about
the organisers and met with Rosa María del Barrio,
the current director of the Centre South Mancomunidad and a specialist in this line of work as she has
been dealing with those projects since 2002.
Could you please explain to us what the Centre
South Mancomunidad consists of?
The Centre South Mancomunidad was created in
1999. It is a public entity that belongs to four municipalities: Antigua, Betancuria, Pájara and Tuineje,
which aims to provide a series of common services
to save costs such as access to various programmes
and subventions that municipalities could not get if
they applied alone.
Along the year, we carry out many projects and provide multiple services. Around 75% of our budget come
from subventions from the Canarian Employment
Service that are funds from Europe, the Canarian
Government an Fuerteventura’s Cabildo, and 25%
are our own funds.
Which is the Mancomunidad’s main tasks?
We have a social department that consists of a
team of specialists in care for minors that are in a risk
situation, for all four Ayuntamientos, we also provide
legal advice to help with cohabitation and family life.
A lawyer attends people who require this service in
all four municipalities.
Thanks to an agreement with the Cabildo, we manage the Psycho-social Rehabilitation Day Centre in Gran
Tarajal. And finally, there is the “Centro Sur Intergra”
project that is financed by the Canarian Government’s
Immigration vice-council. It takes place once a year
and tends to coincide with the end of the year and
beginning of the next.
This programme offers attention to immigrants by
giving them legal advice to obtain documents as well
as creating activities that contribute to their sociocul-
tural integration such as basic Spanish lessons, handcraft workshops, football tournaments, to name a few.
We have noticed that the brochure of the Third
Inter-cultural Encounter has benefited from a
wide artistic participation and varied projects.
It really went well and we got the participation of over
400 people and folkloric demonstrations from various
countries as well as music or sports activities, etc.
Do those projects take place in Gran Tarajal do
they move from one municipality to another?
The Day Centre of Gran Tarajal is the only facility
that is central, all the other social related services
are organised by appointment which means that
technicians travel to whichever municipality their
services are required. For example Spanish classes
have been organised in El Castillo, Gran Tarajal and
Costa Calma where they are most required.
The service of animal recovery is united for all
four Ayuntamientos and the centre is situated in the
municipality of Tuineje.
The Mancomunidad also has an employment and
local development agency with three agents who
provide business assessment, activities related to
training and employment, like for example a job group
that deals with all different kinds of offers.
So, the job group does not belong to I.N.E.M.?
No, they are separate, but we always advise people
to write to the job centre as well.
The Mancomunidad Agency also takes care of creating projects that seek new training and employment
opportunities which are then submitted to the Canarian Employment Service for approval and funding.
What do those projects consist of?
They can be agreements or employment schoolworkshops. Students sign a professional training
contract and receive a wage that varies for schools
for young people aged between 16 and 24 years of
age and for workshops for people aged over 25.
We could say that students become employees of
the Mancomunidad during their training. It is mandatory for them to be residents in one of the four
municipalities. On the other hand young people are
prepared before their first job and other job opportunities are proposed to adults who are not successful
in the field that they had initially chosen.
What is the procedure for people who would like
to have access to those workshops and schools?
First of all they must be registered at the job centre
as this is where candidates are selected according to
their profile for the courses that we propose. Those
courses and projects are based on their necessities
which are detected by the employment and local
development agency. We have organised courses on
rehabilitation and maintenance of buildings, on safety
and emergencies, on gardening and restoration of
derelict areas, on tourism promotion, etc. Recently we
finalised the project called O.P.E.A. orientation for employment and self-employment, where we attended
over 300 people, and advised them on how to create
a CV, a job interview, how to register as self-employed,
which funding they can get, etc.
We have now submitted another two projects aimed
at creating job opportunities for which we are waiting
to receive approval.

Wir haben gesehen, dass sehr viele Leute zu der
Abschlussveranstaltung dieses III. interkulturellen Treffens gekommen sind. Außerdem gab es
sehr unterschiedliche Aufführungen.
Es ist wirklich gut gelaufen, mehr als 400 Personen
haben an der Veranstaltung teilgenommen. Es gab
Folklorevorführungen aus verschiedenen Ländern,
Musik- und Sportveranstaltungen usw.
Ist Ihre Einrichtung nur in Gran Tarajal tätig oder
auch in anderen Gemeinden?
Nur das Tageszentrum von Gran Tarajal ist zentralisiert, für alle anderen sozialen Leistungen werden
Termine gemacht, und die zuständigen Techniker
fahren in alle Gemeinden, in die sie bestellt werden.
Der Spanischunterricht fand in El Castillo, Gran Tarajal und Costa Calma statt, das sind die Orte, wo die
größte Nachfrage bestand.
Auch die Aufnahme von Tieren findet in allen vier
Gemeinden statt, und das Tierheim befindet sich in
der Gemeinde Tuineje.
Die Zweckgemeinschaft unterhält außerdem eine
Agentur für Arbeit und örtliche Entwicklung. Dort
arbeiten drei Agenten, die unter anderem für Unternehmensberatung und Aktivitäten in den Bereichen
Ausbildung und Beschäftigung zuständig sind. Dazu
kommt noch die Stellenbörse, wo Arbeitplätze jeder
Art angeboten werden.
Gehört denn die Stellenbörse nicht zum I.N.E.M.?
Nein, sie ist unabhängig davon, aber wir raten den
Nutzern immer, sich auch beim Arbeitsamt zu melden.
Außerdem hat die Agentur der Zweckgemeinschaft
auch noch die Funktion, Projekte im Bereich der Ausbildung und der Einstellung zu schaffen, die dem kanarischen Dienst für Beschäftigung präsentiert werden, damit sie genehmigt werden und Subventionen erhalten.
Was sind das für Projekte?
Es können Abkommen, Lehrwerkstätten oder
Beschäftigungskurse sein. E sind Ausbildungs- und
Beschäftigungsprojekte, die Schüler unterschreiben
einen Arbeitsvertrag für die Ausbildungszeit und
bekommen ein Gehalt, das in den Schulen für Jugendliche von 16 bis 24 Jahre anders ist als in den
Kursen für über 25-jährige.
Wir könnten sagen, dass die Schüler während der
Zeit ihrer Ausbildung Angestellte der Zweckgemeinschaft sind. Sie müssen außerdem in einer der vier
beteiligten Gemeinden gemeldet sein.
Einerseits werden junge Leute auf ihre erste Arbeit
vorbereitet, und andererseits werden Erwachsenen,
die im Bereich, in dem sie bis jetzt tätig waren, nichts
finden, neue Möglichkeiten geboten.
Was müssen die Personen tun, die diese Kurse
oder Schulen besuchen möchten?
Zuerst müssen sie sich bei irgendeinem Arbeitsamt
melden, da diese die Kandidaten auswählen, die das
richtige Profil für unsere verschiedenen Kurse haben.
Diese Kurse und Projekte basieren auf dem Bedarf,
der von der Agentur für Beschäftigung und örtliche
Entwicklung festgestellt wird. Wir haben einen Kurs
über die Sanierung und die Instandhaltung von Gebäuden, über Sicherheit und Notfälle, über Gartenbau und
Restaurierung von heruntergekommenen Gebieten,
die Dynamisierung des Tourismus usw. abgehalten.
Vor kurzem endete das Projekt „O.P.E.A” (Orientierung
für Beschäftigung und Selbstbeschäftigung”), in dem
wir mehr als 300 Personen beigebracht haben, einen
Curriculum zu erstellen, ein Vorstellungsgespräch zu
führen, wie man sich selbstständig macht, was für
Subventionen man bekommen kann, usw.
Jetzt haben wir zwei weitere Projekte für neue Arbeitsmöglichkeiten präsentiert und hoffen, dass sie
genehmigt werden.

Das III. interkulturellen Treffen fand das in Gran Tarajal mit dem Namen “Fuerteventura Mar de Culturas”
satt. Das wichtigste Ereignis war dabei das Projekt
„Zentrum Süden integriert 2009”. Wir sprachen mit
Rosa María del Barrio, der Direktorin der Zweckgemeinschaft Zentrum Süden, die seit dem Jahr 2002
an diesen Projekten arbeitet und diese Arbeit sehr
genau kennt.
Könnten Sie unseren Lesern erklären, was die
Zweckgemeinschaft Zentrum Süden ist?
Die Zweckgemeinschaft Zentrum Süden gibt es seit
1999. Sie ist eine öffentliche Einrichtung, die vier
Gemeinden gehört: Antigua, Betancuria, Pájara und
Tuineje. Sie wurde geschaffen, um zahlreiche Leistungen für die beteiligten Gemeinden zu erbringen,
wodurch die Kosten verringert werden. Außerdem
gewährleistet sie den Zugang zu verschiedenen
Leistungen und Subventionen, die die beteiligten
Gemeinden sich nicht alleine leisten könnten.
Im Laufe des Jahres führen wir zahlreiche Projekte
durch. 75% unseres Budgets kommt aus Subventionen des kanarischen Dienstes für Beschäftigung,
der dieses Geld aus europäischen Fonds erhält, und
von der Regierung der Kanaren und dem Cabildo
von Fuerteventura, die übrigen 25% kommen aus
eigenen Mitteln.
Was ist die Hauptarbeit der Zweckgemeinschaft?
Es gibt einen sozialen Bereich, wo ein Team von
Fachleuten Minderjährige in Risikosituationen betreut. In vier Gemeinden leisten wir auch rechtliche
Beratung für Paare und Familien. In diesen vier Gemeinden berät eine Juristin die Personen, die dies
wünschen.
Wir verwalten durch ein Abkommen mit dem
Cabildo das Tageszentrum für psychosoziale Rehabilitierung in Gran Tarajal. Außerdem haben wir im
sozialen Bereich das Projekt „Zentrum-Süden integriert“, das von der stellvertretenden Beauftragten
für Immigration der Regierung der Kanaren geleitet
wird. Es findet einmal im Jahr statt, normalerweise
in den letzten beiden Monaten des Jahres und am
Anfang des darauf folgenden.
Im Rahmen dieses Programms werden die Immigranten rechtlich darüber beraten, wie sie Papiere
bekommen und sich integrieren können, außerdem
gibt es kostenlosen Spanischunterricht für Ausländer,
Kunsthandwerkskurse, Fußballspiele usw.
