TODAY’S HIGHLIGHTS | AUGUST 7 The Rio Center of Operations Bulletin reports today’s main interventions on city streets for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The day’s highlights detailed in this document are: -Women’s road cycling: roads will be closed in Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, Horto, Jardim Botânico, Gávea, São Conrado, Barra da Tijuca, Recreio dos Bandeirantes, Guaratiba, Joá, Alto da Boa Vista, Rocinha and Vidigal, from 12 am to 6 pm. Barra de Guaratiba residents should pay attention to the neighborhood’s closure times. -Beach volleyball on Copacabana. Av. Atlântica will close one lane next to the shoreline, between Av. Princesa Isabel and Praça Almirante Júlio Noronha. The lane will be completely closed until August 13. - Football on Engenhão: roads around the Olympic Stadium (Engenhão), Engenho de Dentro, will close after 10 am. - Volleyball on Maracanãzinho: five roads around the stadium will close today, and should reopen on August 21. HIGHLIGHTS OF THE NEXT DAYS On Wednesday (August 10), for the cycling individual time trial, there will be roadblocks in Recreio and Barra de Guaratiba, beginning at 12 am. Aside from the region roadblocks, there will also be restricted traffic for residents for the competition duration. DAILY INTERDICTIONS COPACABANA REGION Women’s Road Cycling – Copacabana For the men’s road cycling competition there are roadblocks in Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, Horto, Jardim Botânico, Gávea, São Conrado, Barra da Tijuca, Grumari, Recreio dos Bandeirantes, Guaratiba, Itanhangá, Joá, Alto da Boa Vista, Rocinha and Vidigal. Main interdictions occur in the following places, at the times indicated below: AVENIDA ATLÂNTICA 6 am – The lane next to the structures, between Rua Joaquim Nabuco and Rua Miguel Lemos. The lane by the shoreline will be closed from 10 pm on August 4, between rua Francisco Otaviano and rua Miguel Lemos. Roads will open at 9 pm on this Sunday (August 7). IPANEMA AND LEBLON SHORELINE 7 am - Avenida Vieira Souto and Delfim Moreira (lane next to the shore) will reopen by 6 pm. The road next to the structures will have reversible lanes. AVENIDA NIEMEYER 11 am - Avenida Niemeyer will reopen at 1 pm. ESTRADA DO JOÁ 11 am - Estrada do Joá should reopen by 4 pm. BARRINHA 11 am – Estrada da Barra da Tijuca and Ponte Velha, until 4 pm. Roads will be closed to residents at two times: from 12 pm to 1.10 pm and from 2.30 pm to 4 pm. Normal traffic conditions will be reestablished after the convoy’s last vehicle passes. Residents will still have access while the roadblock is in effect, but all residents must pass through Rua Maria Luísa Pitanga. RUA SARGENTO JOÃO FARIA AND AVENIDA DO PEPÊ 11 am – Roads will be closed to traffic until 4 pm. Residents can access the place through a lane reserved for emergencies from 11 am to 12 pm and from 13.10 pm to 2.30 pm. AVENIDA LÚCIO COSTA - BARRA 11 am – The lane next to the shore of Av. Lúcio Costa will be closed until 4 pm. The lane next to the structure will work normally. PRAIA DA RESERVA 12 am - Avenida Lúcio Costa closes on both ways at Praia da Reserva. It should open by 3.30 pm. PRAINHA, GRUMARI AND SERRA DE GRUMARI 12 am - Estrada da Guanabara (Prainha, Grumari and Serra de Grumari) closes on both ways. It should open again at 2.30 pm. PRAINHA LOOP 5 am - Serra da Grota Funda 7 am - Estrada Burle Marx and Estrada do Pongal are closed after 7 am. Resident access will be allowed from 7 am to 12 pm and after 15 pm. ESTRADA DA VISTA CHINESA 5 am - Estrada da Vista Chinesa will be closed until the last convoy vehicle passes, which should be by 4 pm. ALTO DA BOA VISTA 1 pm - Estrada das Canoas, Estrada da Pedra Bonita and Estrada Gávea Pequena are closed. They should reopen by 4 pm. RUA PACHECO LEÃO 1.30 pm - Rua Pacheco Leão will be closed until 4 pm. Residents will have access to the street until 3 pm. RUA JARDIM BOTÂNICO 1.30 pm - Rua Jardim Botânico will be closed towards Gávea, beginning on Rua Pacheco Leão. It will reopen after the last convoy vehicle passes, which should be at 4.30 pm. While the cyclists pass (from 3 pm to 4.30 pm) traffic toward Humaitá will be closed as well, with a detour to Lagoa through Rua Mário Ribeiro. RUA MARQUÊS DE SÃO VICENTE 1.30 pm - Rua Marquês de São Vicente is closed between Praça Santos Dumont and Rua Vice Governador Rubens Berardo. It should reopen by 4.30 pm. Residents are granted access until 3 pm. AVENIDA PADRE LEONEL FRANCA 2 pm - Avenida Padre Leonel Franca will have one lane closed to traffic until 4.30 pm. RUA VISCONDE DE ALBUQUERQUE 1.30 pm - Rua Visconde de Albuquerque is closed until 4.30 pm. Residents can access the street until 3 pm. Residents exit through special traverse lanes on the circuit. ROCINHA 11 am – Rocinha’s São Conrado exit will be blocked until 1 pm. Residents can exit through a special traverse lane on the circuit until 12 pm. 1.30 pm – Rocinha’s Gávea exit will be closed until 4.30 pm. Residents can leave towards Gávea until 3 pm. COPACABANA REGION Beach volleyball – Leme For the beach volleyball games the lane next to the shore of Av. Atlântica will close, between Av. Princesa Isabel and Forte do Leme. The road will remain closed between August 6 and 13, 24 hours per day (see map). From August 14 to 16, interdiction occurs between 1 pm to 2 am of the following day. While interdictions are in effect, the lane next to the structures of Avenida Atlântica will be reversed between Praça Almirante Júlio de Noronha and Rua Martim Afonso. MARACANÃ REGION Football – Olympic Stadium (Engenhão) For the football games in the Nilton Santos Olympic Stadium (Engenhão), there will be interdictions on the Engenho de Dentro region. The following roads will be closed: From 10 am to 1 am of the next day - Rua Afonso Ferreira, all along the road; - Rua Benício de Abreu, all along the road; - Rua Bento Gonçalves, between Rua Guilhermina and Rua José dos Reis; - Rua Comendador João Carneiro de Almeida, between Rua Piauí and Rua Sales Guimarães; - Rua Coronel Cunha Leal, all along the road; - Rua das Oficinas, all along the road; - Rua Dona Eugênia, all along the road; - Rua Doutor Padilha, all along the road; - Rua Henrique Scheid, between Rua José dos reis and Rua das Oficinas; - Rua General Clarindo, all along the road; - Rua Gentil Araújo, all along the road; - Rua Guineza, all along the road; - Rua José dos Reis, between Rua Henrique Scheid and Rua Arquias Cordeiro; - Rua Luís Silva, all along the road; - Rua Sales Guimarães, all along the road; From 12 pm to 1 am of the next day - Rua Goiás, between Rua Guilhermina and Rua Arquias Cordeiro; - Rua Arquias Cordeiro, between Rua Goiás and Rua Piauí. - Rua Dona Teresa; - Rua Teixeira Bastos; - Rua Junqueira Freire. MARACANÃ REGION Archery - Sambódromo For the Sambódromo Archery competition, there will be daily interdictions in the city’s central region until August 12. Closures will be in effect on the following roads: From 6 am to 21 pm Travessa 11 de Maio, all along the road; Rua Frei Caneca, between Rua do Catumbi and Rua Paula Matos TRANSPORTATION METRÔ RIO Website for Metrô Rio: https://www.metrorio.com.br/ SUPERVIA Website for Supervia: http://www.supervia.com.br/ BRT - Paralympic terminal (Recreio) x Vila Militar Served bus stops: Recreio, Olof Palme, Riocentro, Morro do Outeiro, Marechal Fontenelle, Magalhães Bastos and Vila Militar Working period: 24 hours a day Travel time between Recreio and Vila Militar: 32 minutes - Jardim Oceânico x Terminal Olímpico (Olympic Center) Served bus stops: Jardim Oceânico, Bosque Marapendi, Barra Shopping and Centro Olímpico Working period: 24 hours a day Travel time between Jardim Oceânico and Centro Olímpico: 20 minutes - Terminal Olímpico (Centro Olímpico) x Vicente de Carvalho Served bus stops: Olof Palme, Riocentro, Morro do Outeiro, Madureira-Manacéia and Vicente de Carvalho Working period: 5 am to 2 am Travel time between Vicente de Carvalho and Olof Palme: 40 min - Jardim Oceânico x Golfe Olímpico* Served bus stops: Jardim Oceânico, Bosque Marapendi, Barra Shopping and Golfe Olímpico Working period: 5 am to 6 pm Travel time between Jardim Oceânico e Golfe Olímpico: 20 minutes *Service will operate on golf competition days only. On days with competition on Pontal, this service will extend to station Gilka Machado. Website for VLT Carioca concessionary: http://www.vltrio.com.br/ CONTINUAL INTERVENTIONS (DAILY OR PERMANENT) BARRA REGION Olympic Park – closures around the sports complex For the Rio 2016 Games, the region around Olympic Park and Riocentro*, Barra da Tijuca, will be closed from 12 am. The following roads (see map below) will be close until August 21: - Av. Salvador Allende, both ways, between Rua Célia Ribeiro da Silva Mendes and Est. dos Bandeirantes; - Av. Embaixador Abelardo Bueno, from Shopping Metropolitano until Av. Salvador Allende; - Av. Olof Palm, from Estrada dos Bandeirantes until Av. Salvador Allende; - Av. Abraão Jabour, both ways, between Av. Salvador Allende and Rua Olof Palme; - Rua Aroazes, all along the road; - Rua Pedro Calmon, between Av. Abraão Jabour and Av. Salvador Allende; - Via Inominada, between Estrada dos Bandeirantes and Av. Abraão Jabour; - Section of Estrada Coronel Pedro Corrêa; - Avenida Jaime Poggi; - Rua Francisco de Paula; - Rua Jorge Faraj; - Rua Alfredo Ceschiatti; - Rua Mário Agostinelli. * Av. Olof Palme will have a closed section between Est. dos Bandeirantes and Av. Salvador Allende, towards Av. Salvador Allende, from July 24 on. DEODORO REGION Deodoro Sports Complex – closures in the surrounding area Since July 31, the surrounding area near Deodoro Sports Complex, Shooting Center and Equestrian Olympic Complex will have a daily interdiction, from 6 am to 12am. Closures are in effect until August 20*, in the following roads (see map below): – Av. Duque de Caxias, between R. Salustiano Silva and Rua São Sebastião; – Av. São Pedro de Alcântara, between Rua Nazaré and Rua Melbourne; – Rua Concórdia, between Rua Carinhanha and Rua Salustiano da Silva; – Rua Corrêa Seara, between Rua Almeida e Souza and Rua Salustiano da Silva; – Rua Dracena, between Rua Almeida e Souza and Rua Salustiano da Silva; – Rua Engenheiro Trajano de Medeiros, between Rua Almeida e Souza and Rua Salustiano da Silva; – Rua Salustiano Silva, between Rua Correa Seara and Viaduto de Magalhães Bastos; – Viaduto de Magalhães Bastos, both ways, all along the road; *From August 16 on, daily closures happen from 7 am to 10 pm. MARACANÃ REGION Reversal of lanes surrounding Olympic Stadium There is a reversal of lanes in effect since July 23 in the area surrounding the Olympic Stadium (Engenhão). This traffic scheme is previewed to go on until September 18. The following roads had their lanes reversed: - Rua Bento Gonçalves; between Rua Guilhermina and Rua José dos Reis; - Rua José dos Reis; between Av. Henrique Scheid and Rua das Oficinas; - Rua General Clarindo; between Rua Guilhermina and Rua José dos Reis; - Rua Afonso Ferreira; all along the road; - Rua das Oficinas; between Rua José dos Reis e a Rua Gentil de Araújo; - Rua Henrique Scheid; between Rua José dos Reis and Rua das Oficinas; - Rua Sales Guimarães; all along the road; - Rua Coronel Cunha Leal; all along the road; - Rua Junqueira Freira, all along the road. Volleyball – Maracanãzinho For the Maracanãzinho volleyball competition there are daily interdictions in the Maracanã region until August 21, always from 6 am to 1 am of the next day. Closures are in effect on the following roads (see map below): - Rua Prof. Eurico Rabelo; - Rua Visconde de Itamarati; - Rua Isidro de Figueiredo; - Rua Artur Menezes; - Rua Conselheiro Olegário.
