November - Puget Sounders Chapter
Chapter of FMCA November 2014 Pres: Bill Chambers * VP: Tom Kunst *Sec.: Melanie Kenney * Tre: Mike Parish * Nat Dir: Jim Matthew *Alt. Nat. Dir: Ron Bredl Brookhollow– Kelso A grand total of 11 rigs made their way to Kelso for the last rally of our 2014 season. This time of year finds some heading south for the winter and the temps at this rally proved why. Friday evening we gathered for social chatter and appetizers at 5pm. The weather was beautiful but very cold finding many hustling back to their coaches to settle in for the night. Many disconnected their hoses and put drop lights in the compartments so the water would not freeze. Saturday temps were in the BRRRRRRRR 20’s. A hot breakfast of pancakes, bacon, scrambled eggs, fruit and juice got us ready for the day. Lots of free time in the afternoon to take a walk in the crisp sun, go for a drive or to the store or just relax. Allyn’s took a run up to Toutle River RV to check out the club house for next year. Evening festivities started at 5pm happy hour and dinner at 6pm. The hosts, Chambers, and cohosts, Allyn’s, served Turkey, gravy and members brought sides. Three different stuffing's for the tasting along with homemade cranberry sauce. A feast for sure. Dessert of Lemon Pie, Pumpkin Pie and Apple Cake capped off the evenings dinner. President Bill Chambers reminded everyone about volunteering for the Coos Bay Rally in June with more information forth coming during the winter months. After dinner and announcements the members joined in the clubhouse for a fun round of Card Bingo. Kathy Smith was the big winner of the evening. Muffins, juice, fruit and hot beverages greeted us for Sunday departure. Some stayed until 10 am visiting before our long winter break. See you all at spring thaw. Happy Thanksgiving Blessing You Way. President’s Corner Greetings, Our 2014 Rally Season was concluded with our outing at Brookhollow RV Park. A personal thank you to our host and co-hosts, Dana Chambers, Kelly and Tom Allyn. We all enjoyed breakfast, the turkey dinner, games and time spent together, but not so much the 23 degree weather at night. As mentioned before, this past year was successful with lots of good memories and interesting locales. A note of appreciation to all hosts and co hosts for the past year. Your hard work and commitment ensured the success of each rally. Reviewing the rally schedule for the coming year shows that we have host and co hosts already signed up for all but one rally at the Leavenworth Icicle River Park in July. Anyone interested in hosting this outing should contact Tom Allyn our new Wagon Master. We also are still looking for an Alternate Wagon Master to assist Tom when needed. If you need any info on the duties you can ask Tom or any of our prior Wagon Masters. As of today we still do not have a definite day to call FMCA headquarters in Cincinnati to register for the NW Area Rally in Coos Bay, Oregon in June 2015. I will be sending out an email when we have a specific date to begin calling in, which I presume will be in December. To our snowbirds and those of you who are in Dunedin, New Zealand, stay safe and know that the rest of us will be thinking of you as we endure the expected cold winter weather here, lol. Dana and I wish you all a good Thanksgiving and Holiday Season, and look forward to seeing everyone in the New Year. As Always wishing you safe travels and good health. Bill Chambers Note Of Thanks From Bobbi Radford Dear Puget Sounders, On behalf of the Neil Radford family, I would like to thank the Puget Sounders Chapter for the generous donation made in Neil’s name to the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Donations like this will help find a cure for Metastatic Prostate Cancer. During Neil’s treatment at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, knowing early on what his outcome would be, he entered himself in a number of studies to help gain more knowledge about this horrible disease. He made his mess his message, reaching out to many patients and giving them his support in their fights. Neil lost his battle on May 2, 2014 knowing full well he had contributed to the fight and hoped a cure would be found soon, so no one would have to suffer from this disease. Wagon Master To sign up for the any rally during our 2015 Season please contact Wagon Master, Tom Allyn [email protected] Cell Phone 253-576-0553 Again, Thank You for your donation.
