Project description
Two trends dominate future urban processes. First, we see the decline of
numerous European cities. The second trend is the societies' demand for a
sustainable urban transformation. Both tendencies, shrinking of many European
cities and the demand for a sustainable urban transformation, open diversified
topics in the field of urban and architectural design.
Within this context, the program will investigate the potentials of architectural
interventions as catalyst for future urban transformation and renewal - with a
focus on the specific needs of shrinking cities in Central Europe. By doing so, we
will investigate the impact and influence that architecture as a physical artefact
has on the urban structure. Using the „research by design“ method, we will
develop and test possible instruments in varying scales.
Four universities from different regions in Central Europe are co-operating to set
up and develop this Erasmus Intensive Programme, bringing together
academics, scholars, students and locals. Organized in form of annual
international intensive workshops, so called „working weeks“, the program aims
to enhance the exchange between 1- students and academics, in order to learn
more about the different approaches in different countries and professions and 2academics and local players, in order to test the project findings in practice.
Hence, students will work in mixed interdisciplinary teams, collaborate with local
players and discuss their findings with the local communities.
The target groups likely to benefit from these intensive working weeks are
students from the following disciplines: architecture, urban design, landscape
architecture, planning, interactive design, sociology.
The first „working weeks“ will take place in Trieste in May 2013. As a field of
research, Trieste is a prime example for a medium sized Central European city
facing stagnation, decline and over aging. Paradigmatically within the city, the old
Porto Vecchio, a former free port, is in need of new ideas and strategies for
future revitalization. This will be our first test site.
The program encloses lectures, field work involving the analysis of the urban
fabric, student presentations in cooperation with local players, working
excursions and visits. Concluding, a public presentation and an international
symposium is envisioned, plus a publication summarizing the students' projects
and the "working weeks" programme.
Students will develop media literacy, analytical skills and professional methods
which they can apply directly in their later academic or professional careers. A
wide range of surveys, mappings, drawings and documentaries will be
accumulated and presented to the community and local players. The students
will be required to prepare a project presentation within the timeframe of the two
working weeks. Together with further project developments and assessments,
done at the home universities, the outcome will be reviewed and published. The
findings will contribute to the research cluster „Resources & Sustainability“ with
the research fields Smart Town Centre, Future Cities, Climate KIC and others at
the Technische Universität Berlin.
Planned dissemination of project results
In order to actively promote the project it will be published as a paper/book and
on the public project's website which is making use of the Web 2.0 interactive
tools.
The website contains an expandable archive and is connected to a blog system
which will allow ongoing discussions about the results and further development of
thoughts and activities. The blog will also support a constant communication in a
network of students, academics, local players and community members of
different countries. These online tools will be closely connected to the printed
publications, presentations and exhibitions to reach new (also non-academic)
target groups and get additional people to the online archive and discussion
system.
Besides the academic context the results will be presented to the public on the
occasion of the "Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften" in Berlin. The TU Berlin is a
major participant here.
The results will be printed in the regular publications of the chair (ADIP) and the
Department of Architecture which are published in collaboration with the
Universitätsverlag of the TU Berlin.
A poster presentation which is produced by the students will be presented in
Trieste. Afterwards it will be moved as a travelling exhibition to the other
participant's home countries where it will be presented in a public space or in
public institutions. This could be combined with a parallel book launch event of
the printed publication in these countries.
Further on the findings of the working weeks will be presented and discussed
with the Trieste Port Authority and other local authorities. The project team will
approach communities in Germany, which are confronted with the same situation
as Trieste (like Rostock, Wismar, Sassnitz) offering to present the results of the
project.
The presentations, publications and the online archive/blog will be a basis for
future student projects, thesis projects and postgraduate research activities.
The Public Relations and Public Information Office of TU Berlin will support the
project by sending out press releases to the daily press, journals, television and
radio programmes. Their large distribution list directly reaches scientific
networks, communities and institutions and operate with keywords to reach the
specifically interested target groups.
The results - student work and conclusions made from the public discourse - will
be used to promote the topic and first and foremost the working methods within
the Technische Universität Berlin and the other institutions in Central Europe.
Preferably the implementation of intensive working weeks in the regular
curriculum of architecture students and students from related fields will be
reviewed. The funding will be an issue - especially for students from Slovenia.
This disadvantage might be overcome by a successful further development of
our ICT tools and by a reduced on-site operation for such a programme.

The project will also be presented and discussed at the regular meetings of all
Dean of Studies at the TU Berlin and at research conferences of the Department
of Architecture and the School of Planning Building and Environment.
The presentations and reviews will definitely lead to more intensive exchange of
academics and students from universities in Germany and other countries of
Central Europe.
A continuation of the project expanding the target area and target group to other
countries, universities, institutions and to other students would be worthwhile.

Project description
Focusing on a specific area of composition and investigating the role of the artist
in society, the IP 2012 carries the subheading ‘Composition: Aesthetics and
Social Experience’. It builds on the partner experience and outcomes of the
‘Practicing Composition: Making Practice’ IP (2011) and continues to provide a
framework for the interactive sharing, discussion and analysis of dramaturgical,
compositional and choreographic approaches to the making and composition of
physically-based performance that are currently in use in a number of practiceled graduate dance and choreographic programmes and in the professional field
in Europe. The central investigation of the IP asks how these approaches differ
from or complement each other; and what kinds of pedagogical methods or
approaches are used to develop, train and teach practice-led education in the
composition and making of performance. The main objective of the IP is to
identify, assess and integrate into partners’ programmes innovative and
generative approaches to composition addressing the notions of social
choreography/choreography and social experience and to examine how these
approaches can be shared with and linked to the context of current and emerging
professional practice. The target group includes graduate students and staff from
six European MA programmes in choreography, dance, and dramaturgy, with
links to independent professional networks and other related programmes within
the HEI sector. The main activities of this continuing IP include sharing
developmental and collaborative work on making performances that utilise
multidisciplinary, technical, contextual, theoretical or conceptual strategies for
composition; interdisciplinary and practice-led approaches to compositional
research for artists through workshops and keynote lectures; the sharing of
performance work; and the development of models of publication &
dissemination of the outcomes and findings of the IP. The learning outcomes of
the IP support the individual student’s capacity to utilize a range of compositional
tools and strategies for their own and collaborative work in relation to aesthetics
of social experience; engage with broader contexts of compositional strategies
and tactics; communicate and co-operate with artists and practitioners from other
disciplines and approaches; and attain knowledges needed for their own artistic
development from other disciplines and approaches. The expected outputs will
include student work presentations; documentation through webmedia;
development and sharing of concepts and structures for compositional
workshops.
The General Report on the process and outcomes of the first IP will be made
publically available and circulated to graduate programmes in dance and
choreography internationally. The impact of this is expected to produce further
interest from other HEI programmes in becoming involved in the wider network of
practice-led approaches to composition, helping to build new dialogue and
partnerships between EU and non-EU countries and to provide a focus for
transnational sharing of practice-led compositional experience and best practice.
The IP provides an impetus to the HZT and its graduate programme to build and
develop (in relation to its links with the professional and independent dance and
performance community) a database in the form of bibliographic, video and
sound resources. Whilst there is an abundance of material in this field it is not
readily available in searchable forms or as a single database. The preparation
and circulation of resources for ‘Practicing Composition’ will be (in an initial form)
be available to partner institutions by the beginning of the IP. The other
envisaged outputs (documentation; websites) will be available for student use
and longer-term collaboration and networking from the end of the first IP and will
form a valuable resource for planning the activities of the IP in Years 2 and 3 with
continuing (and/or additional) institutional partners.
Information, data and approaches explored during the IP will also (informally)
provide material for potential conference and workshop outputs (from both staff
and students) - for example in relation to ELIA, CARPA3 - Colloquium on Artistic
Research in Performing Arts, Performance Studies International. It is envisaged
that the proposed IP and it outcomes will impact on the study programmes of
each of the participating partner institutions and become a focus for both the
development of curricula and larger scale research projects.

Projektbeschreibung
Ziel des Projektes ist die intensive künstlerische und wissenschaftliche Beschäftigung mit dem europäischen Kunstlied der letzten beiden Jahrhunderte bis zur
Gegenwart.
Das Fach Liedgestaltung im Sinne einer gemeinsamen Arbeit von Sänger/-innen
und Pianist/-innen an Duo-Liedliteratur ist im normalen Studienalltag der
Musikhochschulen zwar präsent, erschöpft sich aber häufig im „Einstudieren“ des
Notentextes. Hingegen soll das geplante Liedforum Studierenden und Lehrenden
Gelegenheit bieten, gemeinschaftlich den Gegenstand Kunstlied wesentlich
intensiver zu beleuchten.
Primäres Ziel des Projektes ist eine Zusammenführung einzelner Betrachtungsmöglichkeiten, um so ein vielschichtiges Bild und komplexeres Verständnis zu
erreichen.
Die bedeutendsten Parameter
- musiktheoretische Analyse des Notentextes
- Einordnung in den musikhistorischen Kontext
- Textkritik (Notentext) und historische Aufführungspraxis
- literarische und sprachliche Aspekte der Textdeutung/Interpretation
werden in Workshops der Dozenten isoliert betrachtet und bearbeitet und im
anschließenden Diskurs im Plenum besprochen und eingeordnet.
Das Projektangebot richtet sich an Musikstudierende der Disziplinen Gesang und
Klavier, die an ihrer Heimathochschule bereits das Fach „Lied“ studiert haben
oder studieren, d. h. fortgeschrittene Studierende des Bachelor und Master.
Auch für die Dozenten steht der Austausch im Fokus: Nicht nur verschiedene
pädagogische Ansätze, sondern auch der unterschiedliche Blick auf den
Gegenstand selbst werden im Mittelpunkt stehen. Passive Teilnahme von
Lehrenden und Studierenden auch anderer Fächer ist ausdrücklich erwünscht.
Die Konzerte zu Beginn und am Ende des Projektes sind öffentlich. Durch die
Präsenz im Berliner Musikleben erhält die „Liedszene“ der Stadt neue
programmatische und gedankliche Impulse.
Das Projekt gliedert sich in vier Phasen
1. In der Vorbereitungsphase werden in den 6 europäischen Liedklassen
Konzertprogramme erarbeitet, die zu Beginn des Liedforums präsentiert werden
sollen.
Die Dozentinnen und Dozenten formulieren im Diskurs eigene Positionen und
setzen eigene Schwerpunkte, die sich auch in den jeweiligen Konzertprogrammen manifestieren sollen. Zugleich werden die Themen der Workshops für das
Liedforum ermittelt und verteilt.

2. Vom 16.9. bis 27.9. werden 7 Lied-Dozentinnen und -Dozenten mit jeweils 6
Studierenden (d.h. drei Duos für Gesang und Klavier) in Berlin zusammenkommen und in den Räumen der UdK gemeinsam arbeiten.
Am Beginn der gemeinsamen Arbeitsphase steht ein Konzerttag, der die
vorbereiteten Werke bündelt, dem Kennenlernen der Teilnehmer dient, sowie
erste Ansatzpunkte der gemeinsamen Arbeit bietet.
3. Die eigentliche Arbeitsphase nimmt Impulse des Auftaktkonzertes auf und
bietet eine Arbeit am europäischen Kunstlied aus verschiedenen Perspektiven:
- praktisch-interpretatorische Arbeit in Workshops und Arbeit in kleinen Gruppen
(ein Dozent und jeweils ein Duo)
- Vorträge zu kultur-, literatur- und musikwissenschaftlichen Hintergründen,
- Diskussionsrunden und Arbeitsgruppen zu Fragen der Interpretation
- drei Exkursionen
4. Das Abschlusskonzert präsentiert Resultate der Projektarbeit mit besonderem
Schwerpunkt auf den Beiträgen der während des Forums neu gebildeten
„europäischen Duos“.
Erwartete Ergebnisse
Durch die konzentrierte Beschäftigung mit dem Gegenstand wird ein tieferes und
differenzierteres Verständnis für die Problematik und Interpretation des
Kunstlieds erreicht. Der geschärfte Blick, ergänzt durch literatur-, kulturund
musikwissenschaftliche Aspekte, wird zu einer erweiterten Sichtweise führen, die
sich konkret im praktischen Tun umsetzen lässt (Auftritte schon innerhalb des
Projekts) und in der künstlerischen Praxis weiterwirken.
Geplante Verbreitung der Projektergebnisse
Die Konzerte im Rahmen des Europäischen Liedforums werden öffentlich sein.
Die Konzerte und ein Teil der Workshops werden von Tonmeisterstudierenden
der UdK mitgeschnitten. Die Mitschnitte werden den teilnehmenden Dozenten
und Studierenden für die weitere Verwendung im Studium zur Verfügung gestellt.
Eine in der Vorbereitungszeit bei der UdK angesiedelte Website wird laufend

Diese Website soll Ausgangspunkt des künftigen europäischen Liednetzwerkes
sein, dem sich andere Hochschulen anschließen sollen. Wir erwarten dadurch
einen fachlichen Austausch und eine Steigerung der Mobilität von Studierenden
und Dozenten.
Die Litauische Musikakademie hat sich bereit erklärt, eine Fortsetzung des
Forums im Jahre 2013 in Vilnius durchzuführen.

Project description
The Green Chemistry IP course has the principal objective to immerse and
thereby transfer the philosophy of sustainable chemistry to students. Green
Chemistry has been accepted as the only sustainable choice for our future
chemical research. However, the problem is, that many of the standard course
structures do not yet incorporate the new aspects of Green Chemistry in their
curricula.
The philosophy of Green Chemistry applies to all fields of chemistry including
organic, anorganic, analytical and physical chemistry as well as environmental
chemistry and engineering. The direction of this course, however, is to focus on
industrial application but is open to any chemistry choice.
The Green Chemistry IP aims to improve the volume and quality of multilateral
cooperation between HEIs within Europe and especially the participating HEIs.
This is enabled by the structure of the course, the participation of lecturers and
the transnational cooperation among the institutes, which will all make a
specialized contribution to the field of Green Chemistry.
Furthermore the programme aims to establish a collection of knowledge
resources concerning the field of Green Chemistry, available for the participating
as well as all HEIs in Europe working in this field. Apart from the industrial
aspect, emphasis will be given to innovative fields like supramolecular chemistry
and bio-engineering.
The target group of the course will be advanced BA students who are close to
carrying out their bachelor practical work and thesis. The covered subjects will be
chemistry, chemical and pharmaceutical engineering and environmental
chemistry and engineering, which are offered by at least one of the participating
HEIs. Each partner will select the students by a self-chosen method (leading
students of the year, personal interview etc.) after a call for interested students to
attend the programme.
The main activities include the intense cooperation between all institutes of the
participating HEIs and their participation at appropriate events like meetings and
conferences. The programme is based on a long experience of international
cooperation of all project partners and will commit further value to this.
The expected results are to achieve a common understanding of the innovative
field of Green Chemistry with all on-going aspects and problems. These should
also find their way into the regular curriculum of the participating HEIs over time.
Furthermore, it is expected that such modules are expanded to other topic
related science institutes around Europe. The dissemination of the Erasmus
Programme in general and the IPs specifically into education, research and
industry will also provide an enormous contribution.
It is a particular concern of all participants to maintain the network beyond this IP.
Moreover, it is planned to spread the word, find other HEIs interested in the topic
and the programme and to join and also become a part of it. Currently, the IP
covers all cardinal points of Europe and so can distribute the idea of Green
Chemistry almost everywhere. If more partners joined, it would be a great added
value to the project and thus it is a strong request of all participants. Existing
contacts will be used to increase the network, but also new ones will be asked
and welcome for a contribution and participation. A great tool for this will be the
planned online platform, where the participants of the IP can share ideas and
experiences within the network and later on with everybody accessing it.
It will also be considered to work together with local and international companies.
A lot of e.g. biotechnological companies have been founded in the last years and
a lot of them are dealing with the idea of Green Chemistry. They also benefit
from an IP on the topic. Existing contacts can already be used for the IP and they
could also join the network by bringing in experience and know-how especially
from the practical point of view.
Nevertheless, while organizing the IP one aim will also be to gain interest from
the local media. A representative will be invited and introduced to the
programme. A larger audience can be addressed by publishing information about
the IP.
A main concern is to implement the content of the summer school in the curricula
of all participating HEIs. The summer schools and discussions around them will
help to identify the most important issues to focus on. It will be possible to make
a list of subtopics, which works out according to how the topics dealt with in the
IP can be used either in the usual lectures and practical course of basic
chemistry or whether it could be possible to introduce a completely new subject
Green Chemistry at the HEIs which represent a fundamental part of every
chemist´s education. The detailed procedure of this has to be considered
carefully after a successful organization of the IP and after collecting all
experiences and know-how going along with it.
Eventually, the network and the IP is not only to help to spread the idea of Green
Chemistry but also the European idea. Bringing together so many different

countries, students are supposed to become more motivated to travel around
and to spend some terms at other universities. In this case, the IP can show, how
successful and fruitful intercultural work and exchange can be and how it can
enrich an academic career but also one´s life overall.
We expect the ideas of Green Chemistry to be brought to more people
considering the importance of it. If it is possible to use the IP as a base to
encourage students to travel around Europe and in the world, our IP Green
Chemistry can be regarded as a success.

Projektbeschreibung
Der inhaltliche Schwerpunkt dieses IP „Neue Ansätze zur Eingliederung in den
Arbeitsmarkt und zur Förderung des Unternehmertums von Migranten (ein
Ländervergleich)“ ist Teil eines dreijährigen Programms, das sich innovativen
Konzepten zur Integration von Migranten und ethnischen Minderheiten widmet
und auch die Bereiche Bildung sowie interkulturelle Qualifizierung und Öffnung in
nationalen, regionalen und kommunalen Verwaltungen umfasst.
Das IP soll sich insbesondere den folgenden Aspekten widmen:
• Integration von Migranten und ethnischen Minderheiten in die nationalen
Arbeitsmärkte von Belgien, Deutschland, Österreich, Polen und Schweden.
• Internationale Mobilität von Arbeitskräften und Schattenwirtschaft.
• Förderung des Unternehmertums von Migranten und ethnischen Minderheiten.
Die unmittelbare Zielgruppe des IP sind die insgesamt 40 Studierenden aus
Belgien, Polen, Österreich, Schweden und Deutschland sowie 6 Dozenten.
Nutznießer werden auch diejenigen sein, die die online zur Verfügung gestellten
Berichte und Ergebnisse für eigene Studien verwenden. Die beteiligten Partner
werden die Ergebnisse zielgerichtet in die staatlichen Organisationen tragen, mit
denen sie durch ihre Studienprogramme regelmäßig kooperieren.
Das IP beginnt mit einer Planungskonferenz der Projektpartner, auf der alle
inhaltlichen und methodischen Details entschieden werden. Anschließend
werden an den Heimathochschulen Teilnehmer ausgewählt, welche das Thema
jeweils mit Unterstützung des Koordinators aus nationaler Sicht bearbeiten und
Präsentationen erstellen. Das Kernstück des IP ist der 13-tägige internationale
Workshop an der Fachhochschule Kärnten, wo die Erkenntnisse ausgetauscht,
Expertenmeinungen hinzugezogen und Praxisprojekte besucht werden. Dann
werden an drei Tagen in multinationalen Arbeitsgruppen vier Themenschwerpunkte diskutiert, Vorschläge und Strategien ausgearbeitet und im Plenum
vorgetragen.
Als Ergebnis des Intensivprogramms wird zum einen eine Bestandsaufnahme zu
den Erfolgen der Integration verschiedener Migrantengruppen in die
Arbeitsmärkte der einzelnen am IP beteiligten Länder und zum anderen eine
Bewertung innovativer Maßnahmen sowohl zur Arbeitsmarktintegration als auch
zur Förderung des Unternehmertums von Angehörigen ethnischer Minderheiten
und von Beschäftigten mit Migrationshintergrund in verschiedenen
Wirtschaftszweigen vorgelegt. Die Studierenden werden einen guten
Wissensstand über länderspezifische Integrationspolitiken erlangt haben.
Zugleich werden sie ihre Fähigkeiten zum interkulturellen Dialog, ihre
Argumentations- und fremdsprachliche Präsentationsfähigkeit verbessert haben
und gelernt haben, wie ein komplexes Thema in multinationalen Gruppen
ergebnisorientiert zu bearbeiten ist.
Die Ergebnisse werden als Bericht in deutscher und englischer Sprache
dokumentiert und verbreitet. Zugleich wird der Projektfortschritt auf der eigens für
das Projekt eingerichteten Homepage: http://ipprojekt.eu/ laufend aktualisiert;
dort werden vorliegende Berichte und Texte zum Abruf bereit gestellt.
Verbreitung
Nach Abschluss des Intensivprogramms werden in gedruckter Form
a) ein Sachbericht über das gesamte IP und
b) ein Strategiepapier über die wichtigsten innovativen Projekte auf lokaler
Ebene vorgelegt.
Beide Produkte werden an allen teilnehmenden Hochschulen auch online
veröffentlicht.
Der Sachbericht wird allen Teilnehmern, allen externen Referenten und
beteiligten Institutionen zur Verfügung gestellt. Zudem erhalten alle Mitarbeiter,
die in den beteiligten Hochschulen an den entsprechenden Fachbereichen mit
curricularen Entwicklungen befasst sind, sowie die Hochschulbibliotheken ein
Exemplar.
Online wird durch Hinweise im Kontext Internationalisierung/internationale Veranstaltungen darauf hingewiesen, dass der Bericht ins Netz gestellt worden ist.
Das Strategiepapier wird an kommunale Bildungsanbieter, an Vereine und
Initiativen mit diesem Arbeitsschwerpunkt, an Migranten- Organisationen und an
politische Entscheidungsträger auf der lokalen Ebene verteilt. Auf nationaler
Ebene werden in den Ländern Belgien, Deutschland, Polen, Österreich, und
Schweden Exemplare des Strategiepapiers an Trägerorganisation und
Stiftungen, die im Bereich Bildungsangebote für Migranten engagiert sind, sowie
an ausgewählte Abgeordnete verteilt.
Auf europäischer Ebene werden einige Europaabgeordnete und EU-Mitarbeiter
im Themenbereich Europäische Migrationspolitik online auf das Strategiepapier
hingewiesen.
Durch das Strategiepapier wird ein Multiplikatoreffekt hinsichtlich neuer
Vernetzungen von Projekten, die von den jeweils anderen Initiativen erfahren
haben, erwartet.

Projektbeschreibung
Das Intensivprogramm METROPOLIS_21 orientiert sich am Masterstudiengang
Europäische Literaturen der Philosophischen Fakultät II der Humboldt-Universität
zu Berlin. Innerhalb dieses Studiengangs ist das IP in das Modul 4, Neuzeit II,
wie auch in die jeweiligen Studiengänge der teilnehmenden Partnerhochschulen
integrierbar. Das IP zielt auf eine forschungsbasierte Vermittlung von
literaturwissenschaftlichem Wissen und auf den Erwerb methodischer Kompetenzen. Als Plattform internationaler Lehre eröffnet das IP Perspektiven
internationaler Kooperation und interdisziplinärer Netzwerke. Nicht zuletzt dient
das IP auch der Beförderung bestehender Partnerschaften mit den europäischen
Hauptstadtuniversitäten und deren Vernetzung.
METROPOLIS_21 richtet sich in erster Linie an Masterstudierende unterschiedlicher Literaturwissenschaften im Ausland sowie Studierende des Masterstudiengangs Europäische Literaturen der HU. Bei Ländern mit vierjährigen
Bachelorstudiengängen können die Studierenden nach Absprache aus dem
vierten Bachelorjahr ausgewählt werden.
Das IP erlaubt auch Studierenden, die nicht die Möglichkeit haben, einen
längeren Studienaufenthalt an der HU zu absolvieren, die wichtige Erfahrung
eines Auslandsaufenthalts zu machen. Auch Studierende, die bereits am
ERASMUS-Programm teilgenommen haben, erhalten so die Gelegenheit, an der
Humboldt-Universität in der Bundeshauptstadt an interdisziplinärer Forschung
mitzuwirken.
In Workshops wird das Verhältnis Großstadt und Literatur in der Perspektive der
ästhetischen Vermittlung kultureller Erfahrung untersucht und in kulturgeschichtlichen Zusammenhängen diskutiert. Auf der Grundlage der Lektüre
exemplarischer literarischer und theoretischer Texte sollen an den Schnittstellen
von verschiedenen Literaturwissenschaften, Kulturwissenschaft, Ethnologie,
Architektur und Stadtsoziologie Konzepte, die maßgeblich die europäische
kulturelle Identität der Moderne geprägt haben, erschlossen und im Hinblick auf
deren Gültigkeit kritisch untersucht werden. Neben der Präsenzlehre besteht die
Möglichkeit und Notwendigkeit virtueller Kommunikation (Moodlekurs und
Website zur Vor- und Nachbereitung sowie zur Publikation der Projektarbeiten).

intensiv/metropolis_21-1/) werden die Teilnehmer/-innen bereits vorab (ca.
Anfang August) mit Materialien versorgt, damit sie sich in Eigenarbeit auf das IP
vorbereiten können. Die Notwendigkeit eines Programmreaders entfällt aus
diesem Grund. Die Open-Source Lernplattform Moodle (http://lms.huberlin.de/moodle/) ist in die Website integriert und wird sowohl begleitend zum IP
verwendet als auch im Anschluss als Lern- und Diskussionsplattform zur
Verfügung stehen. Die Teilnehmer/-innen des IPs werden auch für später
folgende IPs Zugriff auf die entsprechenden Moodle-Kurse sowie die jeweiligen
Materialien haben. Die Website ist eine öffentlich zugängliche Plattform, auf der
sowohl Programminformationen als auch Ansprechpartner/-innen zu finden sind.
Darunter wird es einen internen, passwortgesicherten Zugang für alle Beteiligten
des IPs geben. Dieser Zugang wird bei erstmaliger Teilnahme vergeben und
endet automatisch nach einjähriger Nichtnutzung. Die Daten der TeilnehmerInnen sind über die Website nicht einsehbar.
Im Anschluss an METROPOLIS_21 werden die Studierenden in ihren
Arbeitsgruppen Projektarbeiten verfassen. Moodle stellt hierzu die notwendige
Plattform dar, auf der auch über geographische Distanzen gemeinsam gearbeitet
werden kann.
Das Intensivprogramm soll über die Förderdauer hinaus als fester, curricularer
Bestandteil, verstetigt werden. Die endgültige Form ist jedoch noch nicht
festgelegt. Ein Curriculum Development ist dabei ebenso denkbar wie eine
Sommerschule.

Projektbeschreibung
Zusammen mit Studierenden der Archäologie, Geschichte, Denkmalpflege und
Konservierung unserer Partneruniversitäten in Bochum (Deutschland), Budapest
(Ungarn), Hradec Králové (Tschechische Republik), Lublin (Polen), Madrid
(Spanien) und Szczecin (Polen) möchten wir in Malbork-Wielbark (Polen) eine
interdisziplinäre Lehrgrabung an einem frühgeschichtlichen Bestattungsplatz
durchführen. Beteiligt sind ferner Spezialisten für Anthropologie, Vermessung,
Paläoökologie und Ökonomie. Das IP ist auf drei Jahre ausgelegt, um möglichst
vielen Studierenden aller Ausbildungsstufen den Erwerb der Spezialkenntnisse
des Feldkurses zu ermöglichen. Zu erlernen sind theoretisches Wissen und
dessen direkte praktische Umsetzung und Einübung in vier Grundbereichen:
Vermessung, Grabung/Dokumentation, Fundkonservierung und Präsentation.
Das IP wird die für die Ausbildung notwendigen Kenntnisse in einer
Interdisziplinarität und Intensität vermitteln, wie es in üblichen Universitätskursen
nicht möglich ist.
Bei dem Objekt des IP handelt es sich um einen der besterhaltenen
Bestattungsplätze des europäischen Barbaricums nahe der Ostseeküste bei
GdaĔsk in Nordostpolen, welcher namengebend für eine 500-jährige
Kulturgruppe in Nord- und Ostpolen wurde, mit entscheidenden Einwirkungen auf
die Entstehung des europäischen Mittelalters.
Mit den materiellen Resultaten und fachlichen Erkenntnissen des IP soll eine
Ausstellung konzipiert werden, die den einseitig auf das Weltkulturerbe
Marienburg ausgerichteten Tourismus der strukturschwachen Stadt Malbork
diversifizieren und bereichern kann.
Am CMS der HU Berlin wird eine Website eingerichtet, die zur zeitnahen
Information des wissenschaftlichen wie allgemeinen Publikums sowohl national
als auch international dient. Über einen eingeschränkten Zugang erfolgt mittels
dieser Plattform auch der Austausch der nur für die am IP Beteiligten bestimmten
Informationen.
Dabei handelt es sich um IP-Reader und bereits erstellte Dokumentationen und
Publikationen bis hin zu den im Rahmen des IP zu dokumentierenden Daten, die
somit allen Teilnehmenden zur uneingeschränkten Auswertung im Rahmen von
Lehrveranstaltungen zur Verfügung stehen. Die Auswertungsergebnisse werden
reziprok ebenfalls in dieses Portal eingestellt.
Ein darauf basierender abschließender Grabungsbericht wird der regional
zuständigen Denkmalpflegebehörde WUOZ w GdaĔsku übergeben und steht der
Öffentlichkeit in deren Archiv zur Verfügung.
Auf der im Zweijahresrhythmus stattfindenden überregionalen Berichtskonferenz
Sesja Pomorzoznawcza werden die Projektergebnisse einem wissenschaftlichen
Publikum in Nordpolen präsentiert. Bereits während der Durchführung vor Ort
soll die lokale Öffentlichkeit über das IP informiert werden (Pressemitteilungen);
nach Abschluss der Vor-Ort-Phase sollen Projekterfahrungen in Universitätsorganen der beteiligten Partner (z. B. Humboldt-Spektrum) verbreitet werden.
Ferner sind Vorträge an den beteiligten Institutionen sowie auf nationalen und
internationalen Konferenzen geplant.
Die Erfahrungen und Prozesse der dezentralen Auswertung der Daten auf einem
zentralen Server stehen den beteiligten Partnern zur weiteren Nutzung zur
Verfügung und werden weiteren Interessenten zugänglich gemacht.
Die Ergebnisse des IP werden auf nationaler Ebene, z. B. in Deutschland im
Rahmen der Vereinigung Deutscher Hochschullehrer für Archäologische Wissenschaften (VDHAW), zur Fortentwicklung der Curricula zur Diskussion gestellt.
Die wissenschaftlichen Ergebnisse des IP sollen in einer gemeinsamen
Publikation aller Beteiligten in Polen veröffentlicht werden.
Angedacht ist auch eine Präsentation des Fundmaterials und virtueller
Rekonstruktionen in einer Wanderausstellung an den beteiligten Institutionen (z.
B. im Neuen Museum in Berlin), die ihren endgültigen Platz im UNESCOWeltkulturerbe Zamek Malbork finden soll und damit den bisher einseitig darauf
ausgerichteten Tourismus in dieser strukturschwachen Region Ostpolens
diversifizieren könnte.

Anhand eines weitgehend unbekannten Abschnitts des Römischen Limes, des
Dakischen Ostlimes unweit der Ostkarpaten in Transsilvanien (Rumänien), sollen
Studierende der Archäologie, Architektur/Baugeschichte, Konservierung/
Restaurierung und Geophysik von acht Hochschulen in Deutschland, Rumänien
und Ungarn in die theoretischen wie praktischen Grundlagen interdisziplinärer
Feldarbeit eingeführt werden, bei dem in der Lehre die Feldprospektion mit der
Grabung kombiniert ist. Partner sind die Archäologischen Institute der HumboldtUniversität zu Berlin (Schwerpunkt Klassische Archäologie), der Universität zu
Köln (Schwerpunkt Provinzialrömische Archäologie), der Universität Pécs
(Schwerpunkt Luftbild-Archäologie und GIS) und die beiden Archäologie-Institute
der Universitäten Cluj-Napoca und Tărgu Mureú (Schwerpunkt Archäologie
Rumäniens), ferner das Department of Geophysics and Space Sciences und die
Architektur/Baugeschichte der Universitäten Eötvös Loránd bzw. BME in
Budapest sowie die Fachhochschule in Erfurt mit dem Studiengang
Restaurierung/Konservierung. Laservermessungen werden seitens der
Humboldt-Universität eingebracht. Außeruniversitärer Partner ist das Kreismuseum von Tărgu Mureú, in dessen Zuständigkeitsbereich der Limesabschnitt
verläuft.
Rumänien beabsichtigt, den Limes seines Landes für die Liste des UNESCOWelterbes zu nominieren. Standards der Erforschung, Präsentation und Schutz
dieser Kulturdenkmale, wie sie z. B. in Deutschland und Großbritannien, in
denen der Limes bereits zum Welterbe zählt, entwickelt wurden, sind in
Rumänien noch lange nicht erreicht. Dies gilt insbesondere für den Dakischen
Ostlimes, der heute in einer der strukturschwächsten Gegenden der EU liegt.
Das Intensivprogramm ist auf 2 Jahre angelegt, um möglichst Vielen den Erwerb
der Spezialkenntnisse des Feldkurses zu ermöglichen. Zu erwerben sind
theoretisches Wissen und dessen unmittelbare praktische Umsetzung und
Einübung in den Bereichen: topographische Vermessung, Laservermessung und
GIS, geophysikalische Messungen (Geomagnetik und Geoelektrik), Luftbildarchäologie, archäologische Feldbegehung, Grabung, Bauforschung/Aufnahme
von Architekturbefunden, Konservierung/Restaurierung, Präsentation und 3D
Visualisierung.
Es werden Kenntnisse in einer Multidisziplinarität und Intensität vermittelt, wie es
von üblichen Universitätskursen nicht zu leisten ist. Die verschiedenen

Schwerpunkte der teilnehmenden Institutionen werden den internationalen
wissenschaftlichen Austausch zwischen Dozenten anregen und den
Studierenden die Möglichkeit bieten, in relativ kurzer Zeit theoretisches und
praktisches Wissen vieler Nachbarwissenschaften zu sammeln und eigene
Interessen zu vertiefen.
Es wird eine website eingerichtet (www.limesdacicus.ro – noch nicht aktiv), die
einerseits der Information für ein wissenschaftliches wie nicht-wissenschaftliches
Publikum im In- und Ausland über das IP dient. Andererseits erfolgt über ein
Portal der Zugriff auf den Server am Kreismuseum Tărgu Mureú. Die
Dokumentation der Feldarbeiten, die in schriftlicher, zeichnerischer und
fotografischer Weise sowie digital während des IP zu erarbeiten ist, wird auf dem
Server abgelegt und steht damit den Partnern in Deutschland, Rumänien und
Ungarn digital für die weitere Auswertung zur Verfügung. Die Dokumentation
wird in einer Datenbank zusammengeführt (IKT).
Die Ergebnisse des IP werden am vorletzten Tag Gemeinden und der
Öffentlichkeit vorgestellt, wofür rechtzeitige Einladung über Behörden, Kirchen,
Zeitungen und Internet erfolgen wird. Ziel ist es, die Gemeinden für ihre
Kulturdenkmäler zu sensibilisieren, Ansprechpartner zu sein, und Hilfestellung zu
leisten für den weiteren Weg der Kulturlandschaftsentwicklung.
Auf der Nationalen Jahresberichtskonferenz des Rumänischen Kulturministerium
(cIMeC) wird alljährlich ein wissenschaftlicher Rechenschaftsbericht durch die
Projektleitung dem Ministerium und einem wissenschaftlichen Publikum
präsentiert. Ferner sind Vorträge an den teilnehmenden Institutionen sowie auf
internationalen Konferenzen geplant (neben cIMeC z.B. Limes-Kongress, RCRF,
Internationaler Archäologenkongress).
Für den Nominierungsprozess des Römischen Limes in Rumänien zum
UNESCO-Welterbe werden nach Beendigung des IP die Ergebnisse dem
Rumänischen Kulturministerium zur Verfügung gestellt. Sie werden dem Projekt
LIMES DACICUS ORIENTALIS (LIDOR) am Museum Tărgu Mureú bereitgestellt.
Bei einem erfolgreichem Abschluss des IP wird angestrebt, solche oder
vergleichbare Veranstaltungen zum regulären Bestandteil der Studiengänge
auszugestalten.

Project description
The aim of the IP "Roma Rights and Discrimination – approaches of a Right
Based Social and Educational Work" is to design a new interdisciplinary module
about strategies of inclusion of the biggest European minority, the Roma, and the
discussion of the role of social work and education to confront their exclusion and
discrimination. The IP explores possibilities and limitations for their inclusion on
the European community level as well as on the level of different countries and
the approaches in Romania, especially in the region of Cluj, where excellent
programmes of positive discrimination and inclusion of Roma students take place
and where still excluded citizens want to live in dignity and according to human
rights standards. All over Europe, the Roma, indigenous minority as well as
refugees and often migrants without papers, who are structurally discriminated
and in danger to be expulsed, experience discrimination, victimisation and
violation of their human rights, observable e.g. as lack of access to housing,
education or health system. Roma are being confronted by violent actions
against themselves based on xenophobia and racist categories of differences.
Our aims are:
1) To develop students’ consciousness and competences to identify European
dimensions as well as country and regional specific differences of the European
wide structural and personal discrimination of Roma people through innovative
interdisciplinary study methods.
2) To provide students with innovative social work methods aimed at prevention
of discrimination, empowerment of Roma individuals and organizations and
consciousness raising within the different national and European context.
3) To develop analytical, management, etc. skills which will broaden students‘
abilities
4) To create a network of European social work higher education institutions
5) To improve the connection between education and social work practice and
theory
6) To build consciousness about the historical genesis of the persecution of the
Roma minority in Europe.
Target groups are 42 second and third year students and the participating
lecturers from seven partner institutions of seven European countries. A number
of regional institutions, anti-discrimination networks, vocational centres,
enterprises, schools and key persons of municipalities and communities of the
region will be involved. The main activities are: designing the IP methodology;
development of theoretical and conceptual portfolio on the subject of IP;
development of innovative teaching methods; designing a project website; field
visits (learning by researching, developing joined activities in an intercultural
team with regional activists and target groups; identifying European-specific
dimensions of the European wide situation of the Roma minority at country and
regional level, and identifying good practice and classes on specific themes, such
as racism, working with difference and constructing mediation processes
between cultures). Learning outcomes are: homework and workgroup activities
(process and products such as project reports). Expected outputs are an esyllabus, developed and e-posted, a web site, a published training manual, a
published special issue of the Social Work review as well as additional articles in
European journals.
WEBSITE (English): It will present project material, activities and results to share
theoretical background and good practice. It will provide detailed and updated
information for the direct and indirect target groups, academic society as well as
practitioners from the work field. Part of the information during the time of the
project will only be accessible with passwords for project participants (lecturers,
students, and coordinators). It will be created from the beginning on and will also
be available after the project. It will be offered in English and some information in
the national languages of the partner countries.
MEDIA REPORTS: Minimum one article in a national journal of Social Work or
Social Pedagogic or in local journals of the university or on the websites. Planned
so far is the special Social Work Review issue in Romania, facilitated by Maria
Roth and with contribution by the other partners of the IP. In addition, it is
planned to publish an article in a European journal (e.g. European Social Work,
International Social Work or Social Work and Society), facilitated by Silvia
Fargion and another publication will be facilitated by Agnes Kover.
Multiplying effects or possible spin-offs:
Awareness raising in the different countries – through the work, and reporting
back in universities and in practice journals – as well as creating effects on
fellow-students and the practice field. Networking of students at international
level leaves important experience of intercultural understanding, networking etc.

Project description
Construction History is a young intellectual discipline, focussing on the technical
aspects of building. Its aim is to examine all historical aspects of construction,
including the assembly process and the design of buildings, structural
engineering, building economics, building conservation and the further
development of edifices.
Universities from six European countries have developed corporately an
Erasmus Intensive Programme that brings together scholars and students from
across Europe to study the area of construction history. Organised in the form of
annual European Summer Schools on Construction History (CH.ESS), the
intensive programme aims to encourage colleagues and students to learn more
about the differing approaches to this topic in different countries, to exchange
ideas in a multinational environment and to examine a particular aspect of
construction history at an advanced level.
Following the concept to touch a wide range of topics from the field of
construction history, the series of summer schools broaches the issue of various
building materials, engineering techniques and time periods. The first summer
school (Cambridge 2011) was focused on historic vaultings, mainly in masonry,
while the forthcoming second one (Brussels 2012) dealt with iron, steel and
reinforced concrete in construction, CH.ESS 2013, planned to take place in
Munich shall be dedicated to another “classical” building material, important in
history as well as nowadays - the role of timber in construction between tradition
and innovation.
Analogical to the two previous summer schools the two-week intensive
programme will consist of lectures (from acknowledged experts), student
presentations, workshops, excursions and field work involving the investigation,
documentation and analysis of different historic timber structures situated close
to the venue. The aim is not only to explore the wide range of technical aspects
with a diachronic approach, but also to place such structures in their cultural,
social and economic setting. A key ingredient of the programme will be the
development of analytical skills using instruments, documentary sources,
drawings and surveys that the students can apply in their later academic and
professional work.
The target audience likely to benefit from these summer schools are students
involved in different disciplines, namely civil and building engineering,
architecture, archaeology, history of technology, monument preservation and art
history. Students attending will be required to prepare a paper for presentation at
the Summer School that will be supervised by tutors, be assessed during the
intensive programme and will contribute towards their study programme.
From the very beginning the series of Summer Schools was intended to be an
important part in the development of a European Master programme in
Construction History organised by the collaborating Universities. Within the

preparation time for the third Summer School this aspect will become more
concrete: First steps towards the implementation of a European Master
programme in Construction History are planned to be taken from autumn 2012
on.
The outcomes of the International Summer School on Construction History 2011
were presented at the 4th International Congress on Construction History, in
Paris 2012. The forum of this world conference offered a unique possibility to
discuss the concept and the basic approaches as well as the results of the
Summer School with the leading international capacities in the field of
construction history. Furthermore, this also gave the chance to develop and
disseminate the idea of the intended European Masters Programme.
The website created in the preparation phase of the first CH.ESS is used as well
as an information platform for the international community of scholars in
construction history about the outcomes of the event; there will be an open
source archive of the proceedings and field work documentations. A kind of ‘web
library’ on the main topics of construction history will be created with the time. To
enable a vibrant development of the webpage, open discussion forums will be
applied.
In the long run it is intended to develop this website into a central point of
information and exchange for the international community of scholars working in
construction history.
The most important spin-off expected from the planned series of Summer
Schools is the creation of a European Masters Programme on construction
history. In this regard the Summer Schools have to be understood as trial runs to
test reasonable contents and teaching methods as well as the opportunities and
problems connected to international co-operation on this field.

Projektbeschreibung
Das Hauptziel des Intensivprogramms ist die Qualifizierung von Studierenden für
die wissenschaftliche Analyse archäologischer Objekte auf internationalem und
multidisziplinärem Niveau. Außerdem wird durch das Projekt ein
wissenschaftlicher Austausch von Dozent/-innen und Studierenden aus
verschiedenen Ländern und Forschungsdisziplinen ermöglicht. Zu den
Zielgruppen gehören Studierende des first (ab dem 3. Semester), second
(Magister und Master) und third cycle (Doktoranden/innen). Ferner profitieren
auch die Dozent/-innen, die durch den Austausch mit Kolleg/-innen aus anderen
Fachgebieten und Ländern neue Impulse und Unterrichtsstrategien mit in ihren
Universitätslehrplan integrieren können.
In erster Linie werden theoretische und praktische Aspekte von Forschungsarbeit
nach der Grabung (=Post-Grabungsprozess) vermittelt, die weder auf
Lehrgrabungen noch im universitären Curriculum unterrichtet werden. Die Lehre
des Post-Grabungsprozesses beinhaltet die Auswertung von Funden aus
Grabungen
und
Oberflächenerkundungen,
das
Kennenlernen
von
Analysemethoden und Kurse zu technischem Zeichnen. Durch die
Katalogisierung und die präzise Dokumentation archäologischer Artefakte wird
den Studierenden systematisches, konzentriertes und analytisches Arbeiten
vermittelt zur Entwicklung unternehmerischer Kompetenzen. Ferner werden den
Teilnehmenden einschlägige IKT-Kenntnisse vermittelt: die Handhabe von
Zeichen- und Fotobearbeitungsprogrammen sowie die sinnvolle und konsistente
Pflege von Datenbanken, die in jedem Berufs- und Studienfeld eine wichtige
Voraussetzung von größeren Projekten oder Arbeitsvorgängen sind. Als
Innovation im zweiten Jahr des Projekts wird die Methode der
Röntgenfluoreszenzanalyse vorgestellt, wobei sowohl die technische Bedienung
als auch die Auswertung der geochemischen Daten in einem Statistikkurs gelehrt
werden.
Die angestrebten Lernergebnisse sind die vollständige Erfassung und
Einordnung archäologisch-historischer Objekte und somit eine umfassende
Erlangung von Kenntnissen über antike Kulturen, deren Politik- und
Wirtschaftssysteme und alltägliche Lebensstrategien. Zudem qualifizieren sich
die Doktorand/-innen für die universitäre Lehre durch die Aneignung didaktischer
Methoden und Erprobung von Lehrmethoden in einem internationalen
Unterrichtsumfeld. Während des Programms wird besonderes Augenmerk auf
die Sensibilisierung der Studierenden für antike Kulturen sowie die Erlangung
von sozialer Kompetenz durch gemeinsame multinationale Gruppenarbeiten,
Exkursionen und enges Zusammenleben von Studierenden und Dozent/-innen
aus verschiedenen Kulturen, Fachrichtungen und Altersgruppen gelegt.
Die TU Darmstadt verfügt über ein ausgereiftes und weithin anerkanntes DualMode-Konzept, in dem die traditionelle Lehre mit dem E-Learning sinnvoll
verknüpft werden. Diesem Konzept folgend werden für den E-Learning-Bereich
ein Webzugang an der TU Darmstadt zur Bereitstellung von Kursdokumenten zur
Vorbereitung eingerichtet. Nach Ende des Kurses wird der Abschlussbericht, die
PowerPoint-Präsentationen, die Handouts der Student/-innen, Literaturlisten
sowie ggf. Links zu Veröffentlichungen der Materialaufnahme in Form von
Studienabschlussarbeiten und erarbeitete Dokumente zur Nacharbeit den
Partnern in Deutschland, den Niederlanden und Griechenland in einem
geschlossenen Bereich zur Verfügung gestellt. Außerdem wird an der TU
Darmstadt eine Website eingerichtet, die zur Austauschplattform der
Kursteilnehmer/innen und zur Öffentlichkeitsarbeit genutzt wird. Auf dieser
Website werden ebenfalls der Abschlussbericht des Projekts und die Ergebnisse
der Nachbereitung des IPs veröffentlicht.
Die Instrumente und Dienste der Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologie
(IKT) sind folglich das E-Learning-Programm und die für dieses Programm
initiierte Website, die schon im Vorfeld eingerichtet werden. Während des
Programms werden die Seminare durch PowerPoint-Präsentationen visuell
unterstützt und den Teilnehmer/innen nach dem IP zugänglich gemacht. Die für
die digitale Erfassung der Artefakte genutzten Bildbearbeitungsprogramme
werden den Student/-innen in Seminaren zunächst theoretisch erklärt und im
Laufe des Projekts selbständig angewendet. Die Anwendung der
projektbezogenen Datenbanken wird ebenfalls aufgrund ihrer Komplexität
zunächst in Seminaren erläutert, bevor die Teilnehmer/innen sie unter Anleitung
der Dozent/innen anwenden. Durch diese Einbeziehung der IKT in das
didaktische Konzept lernen die Student/-innen nicht nur nachhaltig, mit diesen
Programmen umzugehen, sondern erhalten durch die sinnvolle und hochwertige
digitale Erfassung von Artefakten ein hohes Maß an Archivierungsfähigkeit.
Diese Informatik-Kompetenzen werden in vielen Fachbereichen verlangt, jedoch
nicht gelehrt und ersparen den Teilnehmer/innen einen mühevollen Trial-AndError-Lernprozess durch fachkundige und intensive Betreuung während des
Intensivprogramms.

“Human Trafficking and Public Health: A Summer School under the New Haven
Perspective”
The novel topic for this joint educational/research project to explore is human
trafficking and public health in Europe.
This Intensive Programme is designed for first (BA), second (MA) and third cycle
(PhD) students coming from the different European countries of the participating
institutions.
An interdisciplinary approach will be followed, combining science, medicine, law
and politics. The suggested procedure analyzes the problem of human
trafficking and its effects on public health, laying out past legal answers in light of
their conditioning factors, predict future decisions, discuss alternatives and
recommend concrete solutions in close cooperation with experts in medicine,
social sciences and the law. This outline would track procedural steps
recommended by the New Haven School of Jurisprudence developed at the Yale
Law School.
Furthermore, some of the world’s most renowned experts in the field in the world
will participate in the Programme. They will be able to transmit and appraise the
most important innovations concerning all disciplines involved and their potential
utility.
The project´s goal is not only to present and further analyze the problem of
human trafficking and its effects on public health, but its ultimate purpose is to
recommend concrete solutions through close cooperation between the
participating students and experts in medicine, social sciences, and the law. The
project´s expected outcome is, overall, for students not only to learn the facts on
human trafficking and its effects on public health, but also to learn a methodology
to arrive at policy proposals and best practices that can be useful for
professionals in the field of health care like psychotherapists, doctors, or nurses,
as well as for social workers, government officials, victims advocates, and
anyone else dealing with victims of human trafficking.
This Intensive Programme aims to continue when its classes will be completed –
it intends to have an impact worth mentioning afterwards as well. Therefore, the
planned follow-up activities for the project´s partners include, over all, sharing
their new knowledge and experiences with their own institution and combining it
with their curriculum in order to not only transfer and make use of the newly
gained results, but also to have an impact on, to shape, or even to change
existing systems and practices.
In addition, one of the project´s main goals and results will be the “Siena
Principles on Human Trafficking and Public Health” that gives a summary of best
practices when dealing with human trafficking and public health and that
addresses primarily professionals in the field of health care such as
psychotherapists, doctors, or nurses, as well as social workers, government

officials, victims advocates, but also anyone else dealing with victims of human
trafficking. As the “Siena Principles on Human Trafficking and Public Health”
should be distributed to these groups and as they should also be given to other
people - for example, students of the partner institutions who did not join the
summer school or even students of other Universities -, it is very likely that this
particular outcome of the summer school will be spread and even have a
multiplying effect. This way, the principles reflecting the most important aims and
objectives of the Intensive Programme would reach out to more and more people
and hopefully, in the end, this follow-up activity would no longer only address the
ones already interested or involved in the issues of human trafficking or public
health, but also those who are not yet familiar with the phenomenon of human
trafficking and its effects.
Furthermore, the website that will be uploaded as soon as the application
process for the project starts, should be kept updated after the summer school
ends. Continuing to provide people with relevant information on human trafficking
and public health through this website, is another good follow-up activity as this
helps to guarantee that the Intensive Programme´s impact will be sustained and
would be directed towards a large number of internet users.

Project description
This EMCI IP aims to reach the following major goals: Firstly, to develop scientific
understanding of creativity and innovation by drawing together theories and bestpractices of creativity/innovation in different domains (Psychology, Education,
Business, and Engineering); Secondly, to promote managerial and leadership
skills of the participants for the better management of creativity/innovation in their
future career. Based on the above, the IP is expected to draw insights and
operational experiences for the implementation of another educational initiative: a
joint Master programme of ‘Creativity & Innovation’.
The target groups of the IP are last-year Bachelor (1st Cycle; 20 in number) and
first-year Master students (2nd Cycle; 20 in number) of the participating
institutions from the subject areas of Psychology, Education, Business, and
Engineering. We target senior Bachelor students and junior Master students
because this IP also serves as a partial pilot of an upcoming Master programme
about the similar topic. The Master students will be the right target group for the
pilot and the Bachelor students can be potential students of the Master
programme. Either at the Bachelor or Master level, all students should satisfy the
following criteria: (1) registered active students of the participating universities;
(2) above-average academic achievement and non-academic commitment; (3)
high level of proficiency in both spoken and written English; (4) open-mindedness
and motivation to exchange ideas with instructors and students of different
disciplines and cultures. Pleaser refer to ‘4.5 Methodology’ for more information
about these target groups.
With the aim to better integrate different disciplines and optimize the learning
effects, we have designed the following activities: (1) Pre-course preparatory
activities by using ICT tools (e.g., Moodle) to present teacher and student
profiles, course descriptions, basic readings, and forum discussions, etc; (2) Onsite intensive learning activities which are composed of seminars (4 full days + 2
half days), workshops (4 half days), field trips (2 half days), and discussions (for
every seminar and workshop); (3) Extracurricular activities. After the seminars
and workshops, students have access to enrichment activities in the evening.
They can either go to the Creativity Corner to explore their own creativity (e.g.,
creative problem solving games) or join a discussion at the Creativity Saloon
about some hot topics on creativity and innovation. Through these activities
students gain direct experience with creativity, which has the potential to deepen
their understanding of the possible stimulants and barriers of creativity; (4)
Social-cultural activities on-site (e.g., get-together and farewell party) and out of
campus (e.g., visits to sites of cultural significance); (5) Post-course activities by
using ICT tools, including uploading presentation PPTs and student reflections,
continuing forum discussions and online communication as well as creating a
Facebook account for the IP project to disseminate the deliverables agreed by
the participating institutions to a larger population.
Upon full participation and successful completion of the IP, the students will be
able to (1) develop understanding of the basic concepts related to
creativity/innovation as well as the social and psychological foundations of
creativity/innovation; (2) acquire knowledge about the basic models and
examples of best practices of creativity and innovation management in different
applied settings (Education, Business, and Engineering); (3) increase creative
awareness and creative problem solving abilities through systematic learning and
application of theories to solving real-world problems in the relevant disciplines;
(4) promote cultural sensitivity to and cross-cultural exchange of conceptions,
manifestations, and evaluation methods of creativity/innovation.
Regarding outputs, the most concrete outputs from the students will be a series
of proposals for Effective Management of Creativity and Innovation in the
relevant applied settings (Education, Business, and Engineering). Students from
different domains/disciplines will work together to collaboratively develop a
proposal for effective management of creativity and innovation for the designated
domains/disciplines. Each proposal will be extended and improved through
learning and adapting the ideas from other groups. Other outputs from students
include reports/posters, presentations, reflective practice blogs; results of the
investigation of best innovators and their management; student performances
recorded as DVD; photos and video clips of social-cultural activities, etc. From
the teacher perspective, we expect to have teaching packages, summaries of
discussions, and planned or spontaneous meetings (with memos) on potential
future collaborations as outputs. At the institutional level, we expect a
strengthened tie between the participating institutions for more multilateral and
cross-disciplinary cooperation in teaching, training, research, and curriculum
development, etc.
Results and experiences of the IP will be further disseminated and shared
through publication of the project proceedings and through presentations on
international conferences of creativity and innovation IP. After the IP, more
learning materials, seminar PPTs, and student outputs will be uploaded to the IP
Moodle platform, which will be open to the participants for a meaningful period of
time with the aim to enable the establishment of a sustainable learning
community in the subject areas concerned. The website of the IP will be enriched
through uploading of selected student outputs, video clips, and photos of learning
activities, student performances, and social cultural activities. This website will
stay accessible for a longer time. Meanwhile, students will create a Facebook or
Twitter account for the IP to enable the continuation of the network and to share
the experience of the IP to a larger population.
As one direct product of the IP are new teaching materials about the effective
management of creativity and innovation in different domains, a long-term aim of
this project is to propose the implementation of the learning materials in the study
programmes/curricula of the countries of the participating institutions. Due to

mutual interest, UAM and RPIVA have already started procedures of codevelopment of an international Master’s programme “Creativity and Innovation”.
This Master’s programme will also take an interdisciplinary approach and will
cover most of the topics of the IP. Therefore, results and experiences of the IP
can be applied to curriculum design, content development, student assessment
and programme evaluation for this Master’s programme. The other partner
universities from Germany, Spain, and Sweden are also welcomed to join the
collaborative efforts of the development of this study programme.

Project description
The objective of our proposed Erasmus Intensive Programme called “European
Student Teachers doing Mathematics Education in the Environment (ESTMEE)”
is the development of a multinational mathematics learning trail (MT) to give
prospective mathematics teachers and staff in mathematics education a
comprehensive insight in environmental mathematics teaching and to explicitly
equip them with applicable teaching material. The specific European focus gives
the participants an understanding of intercultural commonalities and differences
in the mathematical problem solving process.
Our target group consists of prospective teachers in mathematics, either
concentrating on primary or secondary school level. The subgroups will have
partly joint and separate activities, the latter particularly when considering
technical content.
The 10-day programme provides lectures to have a theoretical overview of
outdoor learning activities, workshops to develop and design the math trails and
practical seminars where the developed trails will be analysed. The math trails
will be carried out with local school classes and these experiences will then be
reflected on in follow-up seminars.
First, the participating prospective teachers, as well as the lecturers, will gather
important experiences in the intercultural context. These include a transnational
comparison of applying mathematical theories and beliefs. Second, intercultural
differences will highly enrich both the cooperative problem solving process and
communication. Moreover, the influence of different countries has positive effects
on the mathematical knowledge of the participants and the variety of tasks. Third,
the students learn how to extract mathematics from the reality or to impose
mathematics into the reality to enrich their mathematics classes in the future.
The expected outcomes of the IP are well documented and will include approved
math trails which can be used for primary and secondary math education or to
educate prospective math teachers in European countries. Additionally we want
to publish and present the results at international conferences like CERME 2015
and ICME 2016. The documentation of the IP will include material that may be
suitable for the regular teacher education of the partner institutions.
A valuable support for dissemination and sharing of results will be provided by
the extensive documentation of our proposed IP. As a positive multiplying effect,
the documentation will include material that will be used in the regular teacher
education of the partner institutions and hence will support and stimulate
international reflections among all prospective mathematics teachers.
We aim to inspire further projects that could be planned and carried out by
individual students or staff members or in collaboration between students and/or
staff from the partner institutions.
Of course we will write some scientific papers including the results and outcomes
of this Intensive Programme. Furthermore we will present these papers at
national but also at international conferences like CERME 8 (Conference on
European Research on Mathematics Education) in 2015 and ICME 13
(International Conference on Mathematics Education) in 2016. At these
conferences we will reach a lot of other mathematics educators who can benefit
from our results in this proposed IP.
Our internet based Wiki-platform will remain open to the participating students
and staff members in the programme. Matthias Ludwig and his team will be
responsible for the continuing administration of the Wiki-platform, but everyone is
requested to contribute with additional information and experiences, for example
when working at the math trails in other settings or with questions concerning
national similarities and differences between our educational systems.
We expect that participating students and staff members will give information and
talks about the content and accomplishments of our IP as well as providing more
general advice and guidance concerning international and intercultural
collaboration.

Ein schonender Umgang mit unseren Ressourcen zum einen und eine effiziente
Nutzung der Energie zum anderen sind grundlegende Gebote des Bauens in
unserer Zeit. In welchem Umfang kann dies auch für denkmalgeschützte Bauten
gelten?
Für das Bauen von neuen Bauten sind inzwischen die wesentlichen Kriterien
hierfür erarbeitet und unter den Begriffen der Ressourcenschonung und der
Energieeffizienz hierfür verbindliche Standards formuliert. Auch für das Bauen
ganz allgemein im Bestand, das von der unterhaltenden Reparatur über den
Umbau, der neue Nutzungen einführt, bis zum ergänzenden Weiterbau reicht,
sind wohl die wesentlichen Kriterien erarbeitet; doch macht es grundsätzlich
schon die Vielfalt der unterschiedlichen Fälle sehr viel schwieriger, einheitliche
Standards zu formulieren. Noch einmal anders ist die Situation für den
denkmalgeschützten
Baubestand.
Selbstverständlich
ist,
dass
die
schützenswerten idealen Werte der Denkmale untrennbar sind von der
materiellen Substanz, dass also beide zu schützende Ressourcen sind. Denn
von der Forderung nach Energieeffizienz hat der Gesetzgeber die
denkmalgeschützten Bauten - zumindest in Deutschland - ausgenommen. Denn
beide, Denkmalpfege und Energieeffizienz, gelten - zumindest noch - als
schwierig vereinbar.
Hingegen ist es unsere Überzeugung, dass gerade Denkmale mit ihren sehr
spezifischen Charakteristika es ermöglichen, die Themen des schonenden
Umgangs mit unseren Ressourcen und der Energieeffizienz in der Architektur,
genauer für das Bauen im Bestand, aus anderen als den gewohnten
Blickwinkeln, doch zugleich ganzheitlich zu betrachten. Mehr noch, wir sind der
Überzeugung, dass hier auch die Bauten der Ära der Nachkriegsmoderne - wie
schon die der Ära der klassischen Moderne zwischen den Weltkriegen ausgezeichnete Untersuchungsobjekte darstellen. Denn auch sie waren in vieler
Hinsicht hoch anspruchsvoll, wenn sie ebenfalls funktional für die Zeit
ungewohnte Nutzungsformen einforderten, konstruktiv ebenso oftmals das

Experiment über die gesicherte Bautradition stellten und neben der minimierten,
puristischen Gestalt alternativ die expressive Form zum Ideal wählten.
Vorrangiges Ziel ist es, Konzepte zu entwickeln, die es ermöglichen, das Erbe
der Nachkriegsmoderne - wie zuletzt schon das der der klassischen Moderne auch bezüglich der wichtigen Themen der Schonung der Ressourcen und der
Energieeffizienz zukunftsfähig zu machen. In einem zweiten Schritt ist zu
bewerten, ob diese Konzepte sich auch über lange Zeiträume als nachhaltig
erweisen und inwieweit sie sich übertragen lassen ebenso auf andere Denkmale
und auf nicht denkmalgeschützte Bestandsbauten.
Die Zielgruppen sind Studierende und Lehrende der Master- und PostermasterProgramme in Architektur, Kunst- und Architekturgeschichte und in
Denkmalpflege in Frankfurt am Main, Leuven, Tallinn und Mailand. Wesentlicher
Kooperationspartner soll auch dieses Jahr wieder die Stiftung Bauhaus in
Dessau sein sowie als neue Partner docomomo Deutschland, eine
gemeinnützige Organisation, die sich der DOkumentation und COnservation des
MOdern MOvement widmet, sowie das Architekturbüro Brenne in Berlin.
Im Zentrum der Untersuchung stehen sechs Themenbereiche: Unter den
Begriffen Ökobilanz und Energiebilanz sind dies Alterung und Pflege sowie
Schonung von Ressourcen und Reparieren, weiterhin Bauphysik und
Baukonstruktion sowie Nutzungsformen und Nutzerverhalten. Auf dieser
Grundlage sollen schließlich die Themen Energieverbraucher und -verbrauch
sowie Techniken zur Einsparung von Primärenergie und Erhöhung des
Nutzungskomforts bearbeitet werden. Zugleich sind wieder die besonderen
materiellen und idealen Werte von Denkmalen zu berücksichtigen. Ziel ist, für die
Bauten nun der Nachkriegsmoderne Strategien und Maßnahmevorschläge zur
Verbesserung der Energieeffizienz zu formulieren und zugleich den besonderen
Wert dieser Bauten zu bewahren.
Im Vorfeld des Workshops sollen noch in den einzelnen teilnehmenden
Hochschulen Seminare und Entwurfskurse angeboten werden. Sie sollen ergänzt
werden durch landesspezifische Vergleichsstudien zu den vorgenannten
Themenbereichen, die auf einer E-Learning-Plattform wechselweise diskutiert
werden sollen. Als Ergebnis des Workshops werden textliche und zeichnerische
Strategien und Maßnahmenvorschläge erwartet. Alle Arbeiten werden auf einer
Website und in Broschüren-/Buchform festgehalten.
Absicht ist, schon in den vorbereitenden Seminaren und Entwurfskursen noch zu
Hause denkmalgeschützte Bauten zu bearbeiten, deren Nachnutzung,
konstruktive Instandsetzung, vor allem aber deren energetische Effizienz gerade
in der öffentlichen Diskussion stehen. In Frankfurt am Main z.B. war zuletzt
Thema des Denkmalpflegeseminars die auch energetische Instandsetzung der
Siedlung Mörfelden-Walldorf von Richard Neutra sowie im Vergleich des Hauses
Rang in Königsstein, ebenfalls von Neutra. Die für den Workshop ausgewählten
Bauten der Bauhaus-Ära in Dessau sind erst zum Teil und nur in geringem
Umfang auch energetisch in Stand gesetzt. Es ist unser Partner in diesem IP, die
Stiftung Bauhaus Dessau, die in den letzten Jahren hierfür verschiedene
Konzept entwickelt hat, die im Rahmen des Workshops analysiert und bewertet
und zu denen, wo sinnvoll, Alternativen formuliert werden sollen. In diesem Sinne
wollen die Seminare, Entwurfskurse und Workshops genau der Ort sein, neue
Lösungen anzudenken und sie in die öffentliche Diskussion zu stellen.
Doch vor allem wollen wir uns an andere Hochschulen wenden. Hier geht es
insbesondere um die nachbereitende Präsentation und Diskussion der
Workshop-Ergebnisse und um die Website und Broschüre/Buch. Ein erster
Schritt wird sein, in einer Mail-Aktion eine Vielzahl der Hochschulen in Europa
und gezielt die Fächer Baugeschichte, Architekturtheorie, Denkmalpflege und
Bauen im Bestand zu kontaktieren, um sie so auf unsere Webseite aufmerksam
zu machen. Interessierten Kollegen werden wir gerne die ausführlichere
Broschüre zuschicken. Wir stellen uns vor, Kollegen und Studierende, auf die wir
so aufmerksam werden, im Folgejahr zu gemeinsamen Workshops einzuladen.
Darüber hinaus wollen wir die Broschüre, die zunächst informieren soll,
fortentwickeln in ein Buch, das Wissen vermittelt. Gedacht ist, den Beiträgen der
Experten und der sehr fokussierten Arbeit der Studierenden gleichen Raum zu
geben.

Project description
Mathematics embedded in an interdisciplinary environment is a key to technology
and innovation with strong impact and applications in physics, computer science,
biology, and many other areas of science and engineering. The diversity of this
fast growing and evolving field addresses the challenges of problem solving that
eventually shapes the future. Consequently, in society and academia there is a
strong demand for well-trained mathematicians who are prepared to work in
international networks and interdisciplinary partnerships. Mobility programmes
and summer schools are perfect tools to contribute towards meeting this growing
demand.

In mathematics, international mobility is high at the level of doctorate students,
postdoctoral researchers and, possibly, advanced graduate students. This is,
among other reasons, because summer schools have successfully been used to
foster mobility. In contrast, mobility flows at undergraduate level are relatively
low. The underlying idea of the proposed Intensive Programme is to bring the
concept of summer schools into the (under-)graduate courses of study.
Consequently, the target audience are graduate students and advanced
undergraduate students with a strong background in mathematics. It offers
unique experiences at an international scale for students at a critical stage of
their educational development. We hope that the Intensive Programme
contributes to attracting and retaining talented students to pursue graduate work
and/or mathematical careers in academia, industry, and government.
The work programme is based on lectures taught by internationally recognised
experts in mathematics, physics and computer science. Accompanying problem
sessions and laboratory work will give many occasions for lively discussions of
the topics and for experiencing applications to other disciplines providing
opportunities to deepen the students' understanding and broaden their way of
thinking. Different topics have been chosen, each with its own specific
interdisciplinary facets:
2011: Dynamical Systems, Fractal Geometry, and Holomorphic Dynamics.
2012: A Panorama of Modern Number Theory with Applications to Cryptography
and Coding.
2013: Periodic Structures in Applied Mathematics.
Results and materials created during the summer schools, in particular videos
and lecture notes, will be diseminated online through the project website
(www.math.uni-goettingen.de/summer)
As part of the planned IP, comprehensive documentation of the project processes and lectures is envisaged, which will be made available online for download.
Access to the materials will therefore not be limited to those participating in the IP;
indeed, everyone stands to benefit from use of the learning concepts and materials developed within university teaching of this IP and the experiences gained therein. Specifically, the documentation will include the following elements:
– The programme announcement and application details, which will be published
on the IP website in good time.
– The lectures will also be recorded. Following compression and quality control, these videos will be made available for download on the media sever of the
Georg August University.
– The lecturers will prepare materials, which will be compiled in a compendium of
lecture notes that will be published on the IP website as a PDF document.
– The outcomes of the project evaluation will also be published on the IP website
in an anonymised format.
All materials required for future implementation in the curricula of Bachelor’s and
Master’s university courses will be created. The lecture notes will naturally also assume a key role here as fundamental learning materials. They will be complemented with feedback reports from students, which can provide subsequent lecturers
with valuable didactic information. Important information will be made available
through this documentation, which should include the learning contents and
didactic approaches, along with the experience gained over the course of the IP,
and can be consulted to decide on integration of such a foundation course into a
Bachelor’s or Master’s course.

Project description
The main objectives of the hadron collider physics school (HASCO) are
introductory topics in elementary particle physics, in particular in hadron collider
physics as relevant for research at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Given the
status of Higgs' searches in spring 2012, a particular focus will be placed on
Higgs’ boson physics and experimental searches. This includes lectures and
tutorials on the theoretical foundations of the standard model of elementary
particle physics as well as experimental techniques to test it. Furthermore, a
focus is placed on statistical data analysis and an introduction to the software
package ROOT (and MATHEMATICA). In addition, students will have the
opportunity to discuss state of the art measurements and results with senior
scientists in the field.

The target groups are BSc-, MSc- and early PhD-students, i.e. mainly beginners
in the field.
The main academic activities will be lectures, tutorials, and student seminars.
These will be complemented by excursions, and sports activities.
The learning outcomes will be better and more compatible theoretical knowledge
of the fundamentals of elementary particle physics, but more importantly also
hands-on experience with widely used software tools, statistics data analysis and
experimental measurement techniques.
The expected outputs are example software programs, group presentations, and
short summary reports. The academic achievements will be credited with 6
ECTS points, which can be easily exported from the University of Göttingen to
the various home universities.

Projektbeschreibung
Die von den drei beteiligten Fernuniversitäten – FernUniversität in Hagen,
Universidad Nacional de Educación á Distancia Madrid, OpenUniversiteit
Nederland Heerlen – gemeinsam ausgerichtete Summer School in Law erhöht
die Mobilität von Fernstudierenden innerhalb der EU und verschafft damit
Fernstudierenden, die aufgrund ihrer beruflichen und familiären Situation in der
Regel nicht die Möglichkeit zu einem längerfristigen Auslandsaufenthalt haben,
Zugang zu akademischen und fremdsprachlichen Veranstaltungen im Ausland.
Thematisch konzentriert sich das IP auf die Vermittlung des Grundlagenfaches
"Rechtsvergleichung in einem europäischen Kontext". Die Studierenden erhalten
einen Einblick in verschiedene europäische Rechtsordnungen und können diese
nach Absolvieren des IP vergleichen wie auch anwenden. Hierdurch erlangen die
Studierenden auch ein tieferes Verständnis für die eigene Rechtsordnung.
Zudem vermittelt das IP den Studierenden ein vertieftes Wissen in der
englischen Rechtssprache und dem anglistischen Rechtskreis. Neben den
juristischen Facherkenntnissen erhalten die Studierenden zudem einen Einblick
in die kulturellen und gesellschaftlichen Besonderheiten der jeweils anderen
Partnerländer. Im nunmehr beantragten dritten Zyklus steht auch die
perspektivische Weiterentwicklung des IP im Fokus. Die Partner werden im
dritten Zyklus die Voraussetzungen für eine Verstetigung des IP, entweder mit
einem neuen IP-Förderantrag oder durch andere Formen der internationalen
Kollaboration in Studium und Lehre schaffen.
Die Ergebnisse des Projektes, insbesondere die Booklets, können auch
künftigen Studierendenkohorten der teilnehmenden Universitäten zur Verfügung
gestellt werden. Denkbar wäre es, künftig einen Tagungsband mit den Booklets
zu erstellen und zu verbreiten. Zudem wird der Inhalt der Moodle-Lernumgebung,
so es der Datenschutz zulässt, auch künftigen Teilnehmenden des IP zur
Verfügung gestellt, um von den Ergebnissen der Vor-Kohorten zu profitieren.
Das IP soll künftig in die Lehrpläne der beteiligten Partner integriert werden und
einen Teil der Fremdsprachenausbildung darstellen. Zudem wurden bereits
Inhalte des IP – insbesondere des schriftlichen Lehrmaterials im Bereich Legal
English – zur Schaffung eines Moduls „Anglo-Amerikanisches Recht“ im
Studiengang LL.B. an der FernUniversität in Hagen verwendet.

Project description
The three-year Intensive Programme (IP)‘Summer School – Bioethics in Context’
intends to shed light on pivotal terms of and controversial issues in medical and
bioethics, such as ‘Autonomy’, ‘Dignity’, ‘Life’ and ‘Will’, which are discussed in
relation to practical concerns. The Summer School is theoretically informed by
the perspective of an ‘Integrative Bioethics’. Designed as a multidisciplinary
approach, the IP brings together various disciplinary perspectives, taking into
account country-specific, cultural, and juridical aspects. These academic debates
are complemented by the experiences of representatives in medical, juridical,
and political decision-making processes. Thus, the IP combines academic
debates with practical concerns. Whereas the Summer School 2012 focuses on
application-oriented, legal, philosophical and political debates, such as
substitutes to individual expressions of will (e.g. ‘Advance Directive’), the
Summer School in 2013 will serve to clarify in-depth fundamental terms in
intercultural and interdisciplinary dialogues in order to achieve a better
understanding between disciplines and countries. The Summer School 2014 will
build on these insights and explores the question whether (and how) the
‘integrative bioethical’ discourse can be socially institutionalized.
During the IP preparation-phase, students (Master- and Doctorate-level) become
familiar with the IP topic by reading selected texts as well as electronic study
materials (e-learning). The two-week face-to-face Summer School consists of the
following components: lectures, seminar debates, working groups on selected
issues, field trips, workshops as well as panel discussions with experts and
representatives of public institutions. Selected lectures and discussions are
recorded (video streaming) and made available on the virtual learning platform
Moodle, which is accessible on the project website (http://www.fernunihagen.de/bioethik). The students gain expert knowledge in the field of medical
and bio-ethics as well as increase their media and intercultural competences.
The IP serves the close cooperation between the participating universities, complementing their curricula. Continuation of this cooperation is envisaged, whereby the learning materials compiled collaboratively during the IP will be used to
develop a joint virtual seminar.
This joint seminar should become a fixed component of the courses at the participating universities (e.g. at the University of Hagen, following the IP as an optional
compulsory module). One consideration for possible follow-up activities is the organisation of further summer schools in the same or a similar or new constellation of partner universities.
Given that some of the partner universities are currently in the process of setting
up new courses – in Bioethics, for example (Ljubljana, Sofia, Thessaloniki), it is
certainly to be expected that the project will enrich conception of these courses.
However, in the event of success, permanent institutionalisation of the summer
school element is also likely.
At the University of Hagen, a continuing education course in Medical Ethics geared towards medical and care professionals as well as medicine students has been
offered since the 1999/2000 winter semester. The learning materials developed
during the summer schools should also increasingly be used in this continuing
education course.
We additionally intend to establish a permanent cooperation between lecturers
on bioethical issues. The learning materials developed should be circulated at the
partner universities in the appropriate format (where necessary, translation into the
local language; further development, e.g. into study guides in Hagen; etc.).
The learning elements available electronically (video streams) and the project
homepage will remain available for a reasonable period of time beyond the end of
the project.
A multiplying effect that should not be underestimated also lies in the fact that students should be empowered to also permanently and independently assume public
responsibility on ethics boards, bioethics committees, etc. Comparable multiplying
effects are to be expected in the Medical Ethics continuing education programme
in light of inclusion of the learning materials.

Projektbeschreibung
Die Umstellung des Schifffrachtverkehrs vom Stückgut auf Containerbeförderung
leitete in den letzten 20 Jahren in den meisten europäischen Hafenstädten einen
großflächigen Strukturwandel ein. Stadtnahe Hafenareale mit ihren
Güterschuppen und den kleinteiligen Umschlagmöglichkeiten waren den
technischen und logistischen Anforderungen sowie der räumlichen Ausdehnung
des Containerumschlags nicht gewachsen. Der Güterumschlag wurde
ausgelagert und die bestehenden Infrastrukturen lagen brach. Bei der
Umstrukturierung verfolgen die betroffenen Hafenstädte unterschiedlichste
Strategien und Lösungen.
Diese werden im IP von Masterstudierenden der Hochschulen in Gdansk, Nantes
und Hamburg (Fachbereiche Architektur, Stadtplanung) an den Beispielen der
Hafenstädte Hamburg und Nantes analysiert und ausgewertet.
Für das Werftgelände in Gdynia sollen die Studierenden eigene Konzepte
entwickeln und planerisch beim Umbau des Werftareals und des bestehenden
Heizkraftwerkes zu einer öffentlich-kulturellen Einrichtung umsetzen.
Die Studierenden erarbeiten vor Ort in gemischten internationalen Planungsteams
die städtebauliche Analyse, definieren den Kontext und das Bauprogramm,
planen den baulichen Entwurf und präsentieren ihre Arbeiten am Ende der
eingeladenen Öffentlichkeit.
Dieses straffe Arbeitsprogramm bewältigen die Studierenden mittels digitalen,
ortsunabhängigen
CADund
Cloudtechnologien.
Die
fachlichen
Herausforderungen und die Arbeitsbedingungen ähneln denen der
Wettbewerbsabteilungen internationaler Planungsbüros. Die Studierenden werden
aus ihrem gewohnten Lehr- und Planungskontext heraus mit anderen,
kulturbedingten Sichtweisen, Schwerpunkten und Stärken konfrontiert. Diese
kulturellen Unterschiede erleben die Studierenden, dank eines kontinuierlichen
Monitorings durch die Dozenten, bewusst als Bereicherung. Sie erkennen ihr
eigenes kulturelles Profil und stärken ihre internationalen Kompetenzen und
Mobilitätsbereitschaft.
Die Ergebnisse des Workshops werden in Gdynia in Form von Zeichnungen und
Modellen ausgestellt und sollen, soweit weitere finanzielle Mittel eingeworben
werden, in einem Buch publiziert werden. Das Buch erscheint auch als E-Book
auf den Servern der beteiligten Hochschulen.
Die Umgestaltung der Hafenstädte ist eine globale Herausforderung. Dieser
Workshop soll jährlich an anderen Standpunkten/Hafenstädten mit ähnlichen
Aufgabenstellungen und mit wachsender Beteiligung neuer Teilnehmer
wiederholt werden und ein enges Netzwerk aus europäischen Hochschulen der
Baufachbereiche entstehen lassen.
In den Werften von Gdynia und Danzig wurde das Ende des kalten Krieges
eingeleitet und in Folge die Idee eines gemeinsamen Europas jenseits des
eisernen Vorhangs geboren. Wir haben bewusst diesen Ort für das Initialprojekt
unserer Projektreihe und des wachsenden Netzwerkes gewählt, um die
europäische Dimension unserer Idee zu betonen.

Das Projekt wird formal durch die Herausgabe des Buches abgeschlossen. Jeder
Studierende, sein Team und die gemeinsame Arbeit werden darin dokumentiert.
Des Weiteren soll auf den Hochschulservern zum IP eine Website angelegt
werden, wo u.a. das Buch als E-Book heruntergeladen werden kann.
Weitere digitale Maßnahmen zur Kontakterhaltung, Freundschaftspflege und
zum Erfahrungsaustausch wie thematische Kontaktgruppen in Facebook,
linkedIn o.ä. werden angeregt und unterstützt, sollen aber von den Studenten
initiert werden, da sonst derartige Maßnahmen erfahrungsgemäß wirkungslos
bleiben.
Projekte mit dem Thema Hafengestaltung sollen sich alljährlich wiederholen und
fester Bestandteil der Semesterplanung an den beteiligten Hochschulen werden.
Hierbei werden weitere Hochschulen eingebunden und eine Publikationsreihe ins
Leben gerufen.

Project description
Entrepreneurship is one of the essential pillars of the European economy. The
European Union (EU) has been calling for actions in favour of increasing
entrepreneurship and small-medium company initiatives. Through the ERASMUS
Intensive Programme (IP), the participating institutions intend to respond further
to this issue. The IP seeks to answer two main questions: How do we create
sustainable entrepreneurial initiatives and which conditions does Europe offer to
support this? In other words, the main objectives of the IP are:
- to enhance students' understanding of the entrepreneurial mindsets in the
context of a global economy
- to raise awareness of the political actions that the EU provides to increase the
opportunities
- to set a foundation of a shared module in business-plan simulation
The main target group are students typically enrolled in business and
management studies, economics as well as social sciences. Project staff as well
as members of the local business representatives are also expected to benefit
from the information exchange offered during the various learning and
networking activities.
The didactic approach used in the IP is a simulation-based learning which is also
known as scenario-based learning. By simulating a web-based marketing game
and group workshops, the IP will provide an interactive learning environment.
Before the students are placed in the scenarios, they will prepare a research on
the current market potentials and collect their ideas for their marketing initiative.
During the game, they will be challenged with various situations or conditions and
have to come to a strategic decision. In the end, they have to present their
findings and defend their strategic decisions. The students will mainly be guided
by project teachers. In addition, the IP partner institutions will come into contacts
with several business representatives and experts on the SME’s policy at the EU
level to act as external guides/lecturers.
Dissemination is an important part of the IP. The major aims of dissemination are
to share experience with teaching staff and management of the participating
institutions, to assess the possibilities of applying some of the teaching
techniques to the regular study programmes, to share experience with other
international partners and to promote public relations in the city, the region and at
national level.
The project programme and the outcomes will be disseminated by the following
means:
- A day-to-day report (newsletter) of events of the individual days of the IP,
placed on the website, posted to full staff of the host institution and
printed in a number of copies
- A number of reports on the events in the local media
- A website linked to the IsÕk University website and to the Businet website
(www.businet.org)
- presentation of the programme and the outcomes at the end of the
programme in a public presentation by the partners in the presence of
participants, external guests and the press
- publication in the school journal
- publication in the local media
- maintenance of a continual discussion forum online about the project
The project will be discussed during the Hedmint working group of the Businet
network. In this way partner institutes from all over Europe (EU and non-EU
members) will benefit from the IP as a good practice example. This will directly
involve about 30 representatives from 25 institutions of various European
countries, indirectly all 93 Businet members.
Besides all the benefits of skills development, progress in teaching methodology
and others, the greatest benefit for ISIK University would be the impact of the
Erasmus Intensive Programme on the institution’s goal concerning their
Internationalization . The university has a priority on these programmes and this
would also promote the international programmes in ùile, and through this tight
relations between the university and its civil environment. Experience and
outcomes of the evaluation will also be used to improve the IP in 2014.

Project description
Global horticulture influences the biodiversity on our planet by manifold
interferences in our natural environment. Horticultural production is blamed for
having a negative impact on biodiversity, but horticulture is also dependent on
biodiversity and needs biodiversity to achieve sustainability. This IP will address
this conflict.
40 students studying Horticultural Sciences (MSc level, 4.-5. academic year) of
11 different European universities will be educated and facilitated by 12 teachers.
The course comprises three different phases. During the pre-course phase
students have to prepare a documentary film discussing the topic from their
perspective. After getting additional information via lectures the whole group
develops first assignments for groups of 6 students. Each group is attended to by
a teacher in the function of a facilitator. The results have to be presented in the
beginning of the second week. In both weeks of the course, lectures from
teachers will highlight special topics in detail to deepen the knowledge about
biodiversity.
In the second week the students will get a second assignment (groups of 6,
composition different from first assignment). There will be only time to start with
the project, prepare a workplan and a breakup of responsibilities. The main work
on this project will be done by the students during the post-course phase at their
home university using video conferencing for evaluation of their milestones. The
results are presented in a final global video conference ca. one month after the
course.
Two excursions will address the different interests regarding biodiversity in the
different fields of horticultural production.
Besides deepening their knowledge about the different aspects of biodiversity
and its importance for the horticultural sector, the students will learn to work in
international working groups, to solve distinct problems in a limited time and to

manage projects as teamwork. For the latter aspect the focus is on scientific
content, time management and completion of responsibilities.
As outputs there will be the documentary films of the preparation phase and the
written reports of the two assignments. Additionally the lectures will be available
on the webpage (not available yet).
This project can serve as a demonstration project within all partner universities
for supervision of (groups of) students at distance. Presentations and workshops
can be held at information and training meetings for teaching staff of the partner
universities. Most partner universities in the project have various international
relationships. Experiences with distance communication gained within this project
will have beneficial effects on other long-distance cooperations (e.g. using video
conferencing equipment). At least elements of this IP can be implemented into
running courses (PBL approach, mind mapping/concept mapping, production of
documentary films).
Three of the IP-partners (Wageningen, Sweden, Warsaw) are involved in the
EuroLeague for Life Sciences initiative (ELLS; http://www.euroleague-study.org).
This IP will be registered as an ELLS-summerschool. The focus of ELLS is on
joint teaching and learning, student and staff mobility, and quality assurance. The
IP partnership will benefit from expert knowledge (ICT and quality assurance)
within the ELLS-consortium.

Project description
The protection of forests, parks and protected areas, especially in the advent of a
globally changing world, is a key component in protecting biodiversity and
securing ecosystem services. Because of global climate change, increasing
demand for renewable energies, demographic change, an ongoing loss of
species and habitats, and the demand for collaborative planning efforts with the
inclusion of all relevant stakeholders, the management of such areas has
become a very complex task.
As managing all these different issues requires interdisciplinary approaches and
collaboration across traditional scientific borders, one of the Intensive
Programme's main objectives is to create an awareness among students for the
specific qualifications to work successfully in this field. It aims at providing an
innovative and unique learning experience within the selected field which is still
underrepresented on a European level. Embedded in an international context,
students will be able to experience a combination of multidisciplinary classroom
seminars and case studies in the field, especially during a six-day stint at Harz
National Park. During their field research, students will work in small international
groups that will help them to acquire the necessary skills to successfully pursue
careers in park management in both academic and practical terms and also to
develop an understanding for differences between the countries involved.
Students will learn about and apply a number of methods and techniques
required for successful protected area planning and management, including
habitat and species mapping, GIS use and sociological skills.
The universities involved in this programme will jointly develop an ICT-based,
mutual learning platform which will also be available for the students' use
afterwards. The platform will also provide some basics for lecturers of all involved
universities, allowing to further enhance academic training in this field.
The objectives of the IP will be mainly achieved by:
- preparing students at their respective home universities for the course specifics,
- using the integrated ICT-based platform as a reference and communications
database, and
- intensive group working phases, especially during the field course at Harz
National Park.
Additionally, students will produce a report on the methods used and results
achieved from their field work, for their own and future students' benefit. Also, the
park administration at Harz National Park will be able to use findings from the
field work.
Because of its truly interdisciplinary, cross-cultural and problem-oriented setting,
the IP follows innovative approaches for scientific training and research that
support the idea of "thinking outside the box." Results will also be published on
the IP's website which currently is available for the 2012 course at
http://www.umwelt.uni-hannover.de/erasmusip2012.html , making it available to
the interested public and practitioners.
The compilation of case studies from the participating countries (from the
preparatory phase) will be edited and compiled in a report. The report will also
include a literature review of application of IUCN criteria worldwide and a chapter
on management of natural resources and recreation in protected areas in North
America. Additionally, the results from the IP itself will be added to the report.
The report will then be published in full on the eLearning platform used for the
course. The report will also be publicly available through the IUP’s website (PDF
version on www.umwelt.uni-hannover.de).
Both the scientific results from the IP but also the cultural experience as well as
the learning and teaching experience will be reflected through paper publications
in scientific journals and at conferences.
Participants will also be encouraged to support dissemination by reporting to
fellow students about their experience in this programme, making an effort to
attract students' attention for future, similar activities and for the ERASMUS
programme in general.
Depending on the success of the first year, the involved institutions want decide
to let this IP become a regular part of their study programmes.

Project description
Summary: This IP is a jointly delivered module delivered by five European HEIs.
Its subject is that of female entrepreneurship, an area which is still academically
marginalized. Its contents rely on relevant country-specific facts and projectrelated research. Companies led by women will be directly involved.
Objectives and target groups: The delivery of the first stage of the FEE project
has encouraged the team to maintain the ojectives formulated in the first
application. These were a) to create an initiative that explores an exciting and
innovative angle on traditional entrepreneurial studies, b) to provide students with
a learning experience that is topical as well as competence-based. The IP is
intended for postgraduates and forth year undergraduates (male and female)
who have received a sound grounding in business management.
Learning outcomes: This IP is suitable for students interested in selfdevelopment and entrepreneurship. On completing it, students will have gained a
deeper insight into the areas specified in the lecture plan. Moreover, they will
understand the contribution FEE can make to national economies at different
stages of development. In addition, they will have become aware of the risks
involved in setting up one’s own business.
Main activities: The second stage of the IP will be implemented in Lithuania. The
areas covered will be:
a) The current role of SMEs (faced with a less welfare-based economic
environment and uncertain career paths, students need to be able to look at at
careers outside the international groups and reconsider personal choices.
b) The function of female entrepreneurship in different economies: The
participants in this IP live in countries that are experiencing different stages of
economic development. Germany and the Netherlands, for instance, are
innovation driven countries, whereas Lithuania and Turkey are currently more
efficiency-driven. These lectures will allow the students to understand the
important role of FEE in diverse economic environments.
c) Specific issues in female entrepreneurship: Women have been resourceful in
identifying their own existential niches and have been involved in a series of
impressive activities – either opportunity or necessity driven.
d) Business planning and finance: Managers of small companies often
experience difficulty when engaging in first-time business activities. Accurate
financial planning tools are, therefore, of paramount importance for their success.

Student will, therefore, apply financial and accounting instruments to their own
business ideas.
e) Other activities: Students will prepare a presentation on their own countries
and their native language (in order to create an interest in other languages than
the working language which is English). The host institutions will invite female
entrepreneurs for discussion and organise on-site visits as well as cultural
excursions.
Expected outputs: The project will develop teaching materials that reflect current
demographic developments and also take into account the increasing demand
for gender-specific approaches. In the pre-project phase, the coordinating
university will establish a project website (http://mu-fee.hs-heilbronn.de) which
contains the project contents and IP reports. In the post-project phase, case
studies involving the participating entreprenerus will be jointly developed and
disseminated. Subsequently, some partners (e.g. ITT, HHN) will develop a joint
degree course.
Follow-up activites: On successful completion of the FEE project, the team will
offer the module they developed to all partners in the NICE network and publish it
on the IP website.
Publications: The case studies published as a course book will be available
through the distribution channels used by the participating universities.
Joint programmes: A further (more long-term) outcome will be the design of a
joint Master programme between the participating universities.

Projektbeschreibung
Auch dieses dritte und letzte ERASMUS-Intensivprogramm wird die Ziele der
ersten beiden nicht nur weiter verfolgen, sondern darüber hinaus erweitern und
variieren. Die Konstanten der drei Programme bestehen erneut in der
gemeinsamen Konzeptionierung, Entwicklung, Erarbeitung und Aufführung eines
gattungs-, stil- und kulturübergreifenden Kunstprojekts samt Vor- und
Nachbereitung. Wiederum sind Phantasie und Kreativität, die Fähigkeit zu
gemeinsamer Arbeit mit den dazugehörigen sozialen Kompetenzen (Offenheit,
selbstkritische Reflektion, Kompromissfähigkeit, Toleranz und Bereitschaft sich
Neuem zu öffnen) gefragt und gefordert. Die auch dieses Mal vorhandene
weltgeschichtliche Komponente fokussiert allerdings auf ein sehr spezielles
Phänomen, das schon immer in den verschiedensten Kulturkreisen aufgetreten
und noch heute in einigen Teilen der Welt zu registrieren ist: den Femizid - jenes
Töten, dessen Opfer ausschließlich Frauen sind. Die Arbeit an diesem Thema
erfordert von allen Teilnehmern in besonderem Maße kritische Offenheit
gegenüber der eigenen Geschichte sowie Respekt vor der Auseinandersetzung
anderer Teilnehmer mit ihrer Geschichte. So soll und kann bei diesem Programm
eine gegenseitige Annäherung nicht durch positive geschichtliche Identifikation
geschehen, sondern durch die gemeinsame offene Bearbeitung einer dunklen
Seite von Geschichte und Gegenwart.
Erneut sind Studierende der Fächer Musik (verschiedener Stilrichtungen),
Theater und Tanz in künstlerischen und pädagogischen sowie in
musikwissenschaftlichen, musikethnologischen und kulturwissenschaftlichen
Studiengängen zur Teilnahme eingeladen. Darüber hinaus sind auch
Studierende anderer Studiengänge willkommen, die ein Musikinstrument oder
auch Tanz und Theaterspiel in ausreichender Qualität beherrschen. Direkte
Zielgruppen sind neben den Kursteilnehmern selbstverständlich auch wieder die
Dozenten (pädagogischer Austausch). Indirekte Zielgruppe ist wiederum das
Publikum der öffentlichen Abschlussveranstaltung.
Matthias Claudius' Gedicht "Der Tod und das Mädchen", als Motiv in der
Bildenden Kunst bereits seit ca. 1500 vorhanden, ist ein Dialog zwischen dem
Mädchen und dem Tod. In der direkten Konfrontation fürchtet sich das Mädchen,
es hält dem Tod vor, zum Sterben zu jung zu sein. Der aber bezeichnet sich als
Freund und versucht dem Mädchen die Angst zu nehmen. Franz Schubert hat
dieses Gedicht 1817 zunächst zu einem Kunstlied vertont und dessen Thema
später in dem Variationssatz seines gleichnamigen Streichquartetts in d-moll
verarbeitet. Beide musikalische Vorlagen sind Ausgangspunkt und Zentrum
unseres Konzepts. An ihnen entlang werden wir uns dem Thema "Der Tod und
das Mädchen" von einer ganz neuen Seite nähern: Die exklusive Beziehung
zwischen dem Tod und dem Mädchen (bei uns Frauen allgemein) wird
Ausgangspunkt einer Auseinandersetzung mit dem Phänomen "Femizid" sein in der Breite verschiedener Kulturen und in der Tiefe der Zeit.
Es wird in dem Programm nicht darum gehen, unser Publikum mit vordergründiger Dramatik zu unterhalten - im Gegenteil: Die größte Herausforderung in
der Projektarbeit wird darin bestehen, jede Gewalt, jedes Leid und jedes Sterben
mit großem Respekt gegenüber den Opfern auf künstlerisch sublimierte Weise
lediglich anzudeuten und mit großer Zurückhaltung zu vermitteln.
In einzelnen Szenen wird mit Mitteln des Theaters und des Tanzes auf die
unterschiedlichen Arten des Femizids eingegangen. Abgeschlossen werden die
Szenen durch Totentänze und Musik der jeweiligen Kulturen. Dergestalt findet Station für Station - eine Reise durch dieses dunkle Kapitel statt, an dem in
Vergangenheit und Gegenwart Menschen verschiedenster Kulturkreise
mitgewirkt haben. Zwischen den Szenen, gleichsam als "Zwischenaktmusik" und
musikalischer roter Faden, werden die Variationen aus Schuberts o.g.
Streichquartett gespielt, in verschiedenen Instrumentationen und in den Stilen
unterschiedlicher Musikkulturen - je nach Bezug zu den gerade dargestellten
Szenen. Dabei werden nicht nur die von Franz Schubert komponierten
Variationen zur Aufführung kommen, sondern auch neue geschaffen werden,
z.B. für Jazzensemble oder Instrumente des Nahen und Fernen Ostens,
Amerikas und Afrikas. Gleichzeitig werden einige der Gemälde zum Thema "Tod
und Mädchen" an die Wände projiziert. So kommt - als weiterer roter Faden - der
Begriff "Bild" auch in diesem Programm wieder zum Tragen.
Und noch auf eine andere Weise werden "Bilder" eine Rolle spielen. Die
Aufführung des Programms wird im Innenhof eines alten Klosters stattfinden.
Während das Publikum in der Mitte platziert sein wird, werden die verschiedenen
Szenen - wie einzelne Bilder - an den umgrenzenden Mauern gespielt, wobei die
Beiträge Szene für Szene "weiterwandern" und das Publikum, das sich für jede
Szene neu ausrichtet, umrundet. So entsteht die einer Ausstellung vergleichbare
Situation, in der sich das Publikum von einem Bild zum nächsten bewegt. Und
damit schließt sich der Kreis zum ersten Intensivprogramm: Waren in den
"Neuen Bildern einer Ausstellung" die in einer Ausstellung präsentierten
Gemälde Victor Hartmanns der konzeptionelle Hintergrund des Programms, geht
es im zweiten Programm um die direkte Umsetzung des Deckengemäldes von
Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, so entstehen im letzten Projekt die Bilder durch
wandernde Szenen - Bilder einer Ausstellung.
Wieder sollen die erwarteten Lernergebnisse der ersten beiden Programme
erreicht werden, sie seien hier in kurzer Form noch einmal vorgestellt:
- Die Erfahrung des Gesamtablaufs eines Projektes wird in seiner Komplexität
eine wichtige Erfahrung für das spätere Berufsleben sein: Vorbereitung (Organisation, Recherchen, Materialsammlung), Durchführung (konzeptionelle Arbeiten, Proben, Aufführungen), Nachbereitung (Evaluation, Dokumentation)
- Die durch Kooperation bedingte unmittelbare Auseinandersetzung aller
Beteiligten mit jeweils anderen Kunstgattungen und Arbeitsweisen als den

eigenen bedeutet eine erhebliche Erweiterung des künstlerischen sowie
persönlichen Horizonts. Die gemeinsamen Aktivitäten ermöglichen tiefe Einblicke
in Arbeitsvorgänge jeweils anderer Disziplinen.
- Die Aufgabe interkultureller Integration bleibt erhalten.
Als zusätzliches Lernergebnis ist eine Befähigung zu besonders
verantwortungsvollem

mit
dem
Gegenstand
künstlerischer
Auseinandersetzung und Gestaltung zu erwarten. Das Thema dieses Projekts
erfordert höchsten Respekt vor der Materie und größtes Einfühlungsvermögen
bei der künstlerischen Umsetzung, es duldet keinerlei oberflächliche Effekte. Die
Teilnehmer werden entdecken, dass "weniger mehr" sein kann und dass die
Intensität des Programms unter dezenter Zurückhaltung nicht verliert, sondern
eher noch gesteigert wird. Dieses Lernergebnis kann für alle Teilnehmer eine
essentielle Qualität bei jedweder zukünftigen künstlerischen Tätigkeit bedeuten.
Folgendes Material ist als Output vorgesehen: Abschlussbericht mit Fragebögen
der Studierenden, Tagebücher von Studierenden, Sammlung der verwendeten
Materialien (Texte, Noten), Videodokumentation, Veranstaltungsplakat, Programmheft, Internetseite.
Während des Projekts ist es vorgesehen, türkische Schulklassen zu Proben und
(kostenfrei) Aufführungen des Projekts einzuladen. Im Anschluss an die
Probenarbeit sollen die Schülerinnen und Schüler Gelegenheit zu Fragen und
zum Gespräch haben und die Möglichkeit erhalten, Musikinstrumente unter
Anleitung auszuprobieren. Auf diese Weise soll der Kontakt zur türkischen
Jugend hergestellt und Interesse (auch bei den Lehrern) an künstlerischer
Betätigung und westlicher Kultur erweckt werden.
Im Anschluss an die dreiwöchige Projektphase wird das Projekt in einer
Internetpräsentation als Ganzes vorgestellt: Daten, Fakten, Kommentare, Bewertungen, Videobeispiele und Bilder sollen - verbunden mit Hinweisen auf die
Möglichkeit des Erhalts von detailliertem Informationsmaterial, ein breites
Interesse an dem Projekt wecken.
Mittelfristig ist die Durchführung spartenübergreifender und experimenteller
Workshops als regelmäßiges Zusatzangebot zum Studium geplant, um den
beteiligten Universitäten und Hochschulen einen kontinuierlichen Input
künstlerischer Impulse zu gewähren. Nach Abschluss des dreijährigen
Intensivprogramms sollen diese Workshops offen sein für alle Folgeaktivitäten
zur Verbreitung und Teilhabe an den Ergebnissen. Besonders Studierende des
Lehramts oder der Kulturwissenschaften und ihre späteren Zielgruppen können
bei ihren zukünftigen praktischen Berufstätigkeiten sehr von den Erfahrungen
dieses Projekts profitieren.

Project description
The objective of the IP "Structural Architectures – Geometry, Code and Design"
is to acquaint students with structural thinking as method for designing
architecture. They learn to formulate rules on the basis of mathematical
/geometric /physical /functional structures. These rules are translated in spatial
configurations and relationships between elements. The design project will be
developed out of the rules. The students get aware of useable codes for
representing the structures with the help of analogue and digital tools. Learning
and teaching will be experienced in mutual processes between students and
professors in multidisciplinary and international teams.
The four participating universities Politecnico di Milano (Italy), Universidad CEU
San Pablo Madrid (Spain), ETH Zürich (Switzerland) and TU Kaiserslautern
(Germany) will prepare and carry out the IP jointly for their students of
Architecture. The IP will target students with basic knowledge in Geometry,
Graphics, Structural and Architectural Design as well as Computer-Aided
Architectural Design during their forth year of studies or later (BA, MA or
Diploma).
Students work mainly in small international groups. The professors will hold
introductory lectures and conduct workshops dealing with special issues in theory
and practice. The working process of the students will be accompanied by short
presentations, discussions and proposals in various steps. Excursions to relevant
architectural projects will support the work in order to encourage structure
recognition by analysing realized architecture. Finally the results will be
presented, discussed and evaluated by the whole group of students and
professors and shown in a public exhibition.
The projects will be presented through drawings, sketches, images, and models
at the end of the IP in the final forum and a public exhibition. The exhibition will
be shown at each partner university. The students work out their projects for a
documentation. The results will be presented on a website and published in a
booklet.
The participants learn how to cooperate in a multidisciplinary and international
group for a joined project. The students learn how to use and formulate precisely
rules for architectural design, to transfer them in codes for their representation
and to apply them with analogue and digital tools in the design processes. The
students learn how to use digital design methods in order to investigate patterns
of organization in space and the architectural utilization of these patterns by
means of parametric and geometric variation. The students and teachers learn to
effectively use ICT-based tools in the communication processes, especially
before and after the summer school.
The follow-up activities are on various levels:
ICT-based learning management and communication tools will support the IP,
especially the preparation and post-processing time. The e-learning platform
Blackboard Learning System will be used during the working process. Therefore
the whole process is documented and can be shared with interested people.
The final results will be published on a project website and a booklet. After each
year the booklet will be produced in English. It will be ready before the selection
process of students starts for the second/third year. These students will get this
material as conceptual basics.
Each partner, students and teaching staff are expected to pass information about
the project within their home universities and to the public and the results will be
spread during a public meeting, by a booklet and by a website.
In order to promote and to support the visibility of the projects, the university
where the IP takes place will organise an exhibition of the student work at the
end of the activities; the same work will also be sent and exhibited in the other
partner universities.
There will be an additional booklet at the end of the three years IP that
summarizes the results of the whole IP. This booklet will also be translated into
German, Italian, and Spanish.
On national and transnational level the most effective way to disseminate and
share the results will be presentations and papers for national and international
conferences of each partner in the specific fields.
The experiences and reports on the results of the IP allow to expect such
interdisciplinary projects at each partner university as a fixed part of the
curriculum in the future. The international aspect could be shared in the future by
additional ICT tools.

Projektbeschreibung
Ziel des in spanischer Sprache durchgeführten Intensivprogramms „Europas
'Volk‘ und seine Stimme“ ist es, in drei Kursen zu zeigen, dass auf kultureller
Ebene, aus historischer wie aus heutiger Sicht, nicht nur vom Schweizer oder
Deutschen Volk, sondern von „Europas Volk“ gesprochen werden kann. Die
Annäherung an das Thema erfolgt auf drei Wegen: über „Volk“ als sich als
zusammengehörig empfindendes Kollektiv, über „Volk“ als Quelle von
Kulturleistungen, die wie Volkskunst oder Volksdichtung nur bedingt zur
„Höhenkammkultur“ oder zur Massenkultur der Moderne zählen, und über „Volk“
als Träger der Legislative gegenüber der staatlichen Exekutive.
Im Mittelpunkt des zweiten, für 2013 geplanten Intensivkurses steht das „Volk“
als Schöpfer und Vermittler spezifischer Werte und kultureller Zeugnisse. Deren
gemeinsamen Züge und die seit der zweiten Hälfte des 18. Jahrhunderts
wachsende Bedeutung des „Volkes“ als ihr Ursprung werden vorzugsweise an
Beispielen aus Deutschland, Italien, Polen, Rumänien und Spanien dargestellt.
Große Bedeutung kommt dabei der nicht kanonisierten, oft mündlichen
literarischen Überlieferung, und im Zuge der zunehmenden Säkularisierung, der
Bildung neuer, oft nationaler Mythen zu sowie den Faktoren, die deren
massenhafte Verbreitung erleichtern, wie die allgemeine Wehrpflicht, die
Verallgemeinerung der Schulbildung und die Fortschritte in der Alphabetisierung.
Zielgruppe sind Studierende und Dozentinnen und Dozenten der Philosophie und
der Literatur-, Geschichts-, Kunst-, Politik-, und Wirtschaftswissenschaften der
beteiligten Hochschulen in Deutschland, Italien, Polen, Spanien und Rumänien,
die fachübergreifend Lehrmaterialien zu den in diesem IP behandelten Facetten
des Themas erarbeiten, welche 2013 in einem Intensivkurs in Jena erprobt
werden.
Die Kurse und die erstellten Materialien sind als Grundlage für die Vermittlung
eines europäischen Identitätsbewusstseins gedacht, das zwar auf Konzepten der
Französischen Revolution gründet, aber zusätzlich den Blick für neben den
Mechanismen der repräsentativen Demokratie existierende auch kulturell
relevante außerparlamentarische Formen der Einflussnahme des „Volkes“ über

Literatur, Kunst, Presse, Fernsehen, Werbung, Massendemonstrationen, Internetforen u. ä. schärft.
Als Ergebnis werden neben der Förderung der kritischen Auseinandersetzung
mit der zentralen Frage des IP die Entwicklung von Verhaltenskompetenzen in
einem interkulturellen Zusammenhang sowie die Verbesserung der
Sprachkompetenz in der Hauptarbeitssprache, dem Spanischen, erwartet. Zu
den Outputs zählt neben dem erwähnten 11-tägigen Intensivkurs und einem
Buch mit Lehrmaterialien auch eine Projektwebsite im Rahmen der bereits
bestehenden Website zu verwandten Themen www.lateinamerika.unikoeln.de/intensivprogramme.html
Zu den oben beschriebenen, wesentlichen Ergebnissen des IP im Jahr 2010
gehören eine Website als Kommunikationsplattform und als didaktisches
Instrumentarium im Rahmen des E-Learnings, eine Anleitung zum selbständigen
Arbeiten, ein Studienprogramm, das wiederholt werden kann, sowie
Lehrmaterialien in Buchform mit fundierten Stellungnahmen zum Thema
„Europas „Volk“ und seine Stimme. Wer ist das „Volk“?“ Zudem fördert das IP die
Mobilität von Studierenden und Dozenten und die Fremdsprachenkompetenz.
Das IP ergänzt die an den beteiligten Hochschulen bestehenden Studienprogramme um den Aspekt der Pluridisziplinarität und trägt zu deren
Aktualisierung und zur Verbesserung der Lehre bei, indem es die an den
einzelnen Universitäten vorhandenen Lehrpotentiale bündelt.
Das IP ist in Köln als Wahlpflichtleistung Teil des Studienprogramms für
Studierende der Regionalstudien (Lateinamerika) und tritt, je nach Schwerpunkt
der Hausarbeit, an die Stelle einer Pflichtleistung des Hauptstudiums in
Hispanistik, Geschichte, Politik oder VWL. Ähnlich verfahren die
Partneruniversitäten, wobei das Spektrum der Fächer, in die das IP integriert
wird, insgesamt noch breiter ist und etwa in Valencia auch die Kunstgeschichte
einschließt.
Es handelt sich um ein studienintegrierendes Element, doch fehlt es an den
Partneruniversitäten für den multidisziplinären Kölner Ansatz an Strukturen,
welche die Einrichtung eines zu einem Doppelabschluss führenden integrierten
Studiengangs ermöglichen würden.
Schon jetzt gehen Elemente des IP in die Lehrpläne an den beteiligten
Universitäten ein. Dozenten der Universität Bielefeld und der City University New
York wollen als „aktive Beobachter“ mit einer Studentengruppe am Intensivkurs
teilnehmen, weil bei Studierenden und Dozenten starkes Interesse am Thema
selbst, vor allem aber an dem methodischen Ansatz besteht.

Project description
Although many institutions are regional or national by character, the reactions
they trigger have international effects. The latter are often problematic. Laws,
markets or organizations are cases in point for this. A profound understanding
and analytical competence for complex interdependent and international
correlations of effects are central both for students and instructors. Bachelor
study programs rarely focus on such competences. The IP NIIC closes this gap
by offering a summer school in which interdisciplinary and international studentteacher teams work on theory-based case studies on national institutions with
international effects.
Participants will be students of bachelor' degree programs in their 4th to 6th
semester, lecturers in social sciences and cultural studies and European
universities.
Partners: Five universities contribute actively to the first Summer School in 2013:
Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski,
University Luis Lumière Lyon 2, Zeppelin University, and Cracow University of
Economics.
The aims of the IP NIIC are to promote the interdisciplinary and international
discourse on the impact of national institutions on individual decisions and hence
the international consequences resulting from them. The Summer School will
give additional benefits to the programs and courses on offer at all partner
universities. Students and lecturers will be made more sensitive to this subject
matter in an international framework, European mutual understanding will
improve through collaborative learning and teaching and it will create a lasting
impetus for the European cooperation, the international orientation and
networking of universities.
All participating students will be able to discuss national institutional contexts with
regard to international consequences and to autonomously develop and present
solutions. Students will be aware of the advantages of multinational and
multidisciplinary teams when analyzing institutional interrelations and finding
solutions of international problems. Lecturers will gain experience in teaching in
an international environment and in active cooperation between universities.
The participation in a compact intensive IP motivates students and lecturers to
engage in longer stays abroad in the future. A personal and institutional network
will come into existence. The participating universities will obtain a feedback on
the structure of internationally oriented study programs.
The outcomes of the IP NIIC will form the basis for follow-up activities at the participating universities. To this end, the conception of the summer school, the course materials and outcomes will not only be made available for download as learning/teaching materials on the internet platforms of participating universities but
also for other universities. Efforts are being made to develop the didactic and content materials compilation in IP follow-up phases (in 2014, potentially also in 2015).
This should take place through the involvement of further universities so that the
knowledge gained from the IP can be used internationally. Sustainable use of the
materials in the European context should thus be achieved.
Given that conception of the course introduces a new curriculum, preparation of
an academic didactic specialist article on the experiences with this IP and publication thereof in a specialist journal is envisaged (e.g. the Zeitschrift für Hochschulentwicklung journal on the development of higher education). Conception of the
course should therefore be presented to academia and discussions stimulated
on the one hand. On the other hand, attention should be drawn to the didactic
material already available and the multiplying effect achieved.
In the medium term, we intend to include the entire curriculum or parts thereof in
lectures at the participating universities. In the accreditation of new courses, the
curriculum made available through the experiences from this course can be used
to set up courses on the significance of institutions in the European context in
the optional subjects of existing Economics and Social Science courses. Should
independent implementation as a course not be possible, lecturers can include
specific course modules (case studies) as content in other courses.
The fact that very good conditions prevail for the long-term establishment of the
course content is discernible in the clear signals of recognition of the ECTS points
already sent by the participating universities in the run-up to the IP.

Project description
Objectives: Changing nature of work brings new forms of threats to health and
well-being of employees. Due to an intensification of work, globalisation, flexible
labour, and an increasing diversity of work forces, psychosocial risk factors have
increased over the last years. Health statistics document the rise of mental
disorders as reasons for sick leaves and early retirement. Hence, the call for
theoretically well-founded and evidence-based management of occupational
health programs is omnipresent. The IP is designed to build competencies, hardas well as soft skills of future framers in the field of occupational health
psychology. Based on the most current knowledge in the field, the IP focuses on
"hands-on"-methods for designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating real
life occupational health programs in organisations. A first aim of the IP is to
enhance competencies of future framers in the field of occupational health
psychology. A second major aim of the IP is to bring together PhD-students from
the collaborating departments, discussing their research, and making plans for
joint publications. A third aim is to foster international exchange and to learn from
different traditions, organisational structures, and programs in the field of
occupational health in the involved countries.
Target groups: Our target groups will be master students and also postgraduate
PhD-students from the collaborating institutions in Germany, Sweden and
Finland.
Main activities: The IP is designed to promote the development of “hard skills”
(knowledge about the connection of work and health), social and method skills
(e.g. teamwork, supervising groups), and personal skills (e.g. self-efficacy).
Based on a constructivistic understanding of learning, student participants will get
the opportunities, the space, and time to work out detailed project plans together
in a multinational team, under the lead of renowned scholars in the field of
occupational health psychology. The didactic concept of the IP includes a broad
variety of classroom activities, ranging from small group work, world cafe
methods, moderated group discussions, presentations, and role plays. The IP will
be accompanied by an e-learning internet platform which eases communication
between all participants and project teams, facilitates sharing of learning
materials, and ideas, and fosters building international networks. The platform
will stay open to participants at least several months after the IP, to promote
sustainability and continuation of contacts.
Expected learning outcomes: The IP is designed to develop and enhance hard
as well as soft-skills of participants. They will learn (1) how to use well-grounded
theories, and empirical evidence for occupational health programs, (2) how to
plan, monitor, implement, and evaluate organizational health promotion
programs, (3) how to facilitate group processes, and decisions in organizations,
(4) how to work together in multinational teams.

There are several ways to disseminate and share the results both with research
institutions and with practitioners:
A website was created highlighting the ideas and results of the IP. Also the
Modular Object Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment (Moodle) is used as
accompanying e-learning platform. It is an open source software and already
supported by the University of Leipzig and University of Tampere. Moodle was
designed to promote social constructionist pedagogy (collaboration, activities,
critical reflection, etc). Its modules allow to post media of different format, like
texts, pictures, and videos, a glossary can be build up, explaining key terms,
forum modules to allow participants to discuss and share opinions, even a chat
module is included allowing life conversation.
It is one aim of the IP that the participating students develop a project plan for an
occupational health program. In a playful competitive environment, both the
teaching staff and in particular practitioners from invited organisations will rate
the quality of these project plans. As HR-managers as well as occupational
health practitioners are involved in the IP it is to be believed that they can directly
profit from its results by implementing some ideas of the occupational health
programs in their organizations.
Moreover, IP participants are the ambassadors and framers of healthy work
environments of the future. They pass on their knowledge and expertise to their
future employers. Therefore, working as occupational health practitioners and
HR-managers themselves they will disseminate the results of the IP in the long
run.
A teacher manual for the IP “Shift It: Shaping healthy work in Future” is to be
developed which can be used by other lecturers. This manual summarizes the
theoretical background of the module (concepts and research findings on
occupational health and leadership), the didactical methods (small-group work,
joint presentations, open space/world café methods), the course aims (to foster
soft skills as teamwork, self-efficacy etc.) and the evaluation of the module.

Project description
The IP is a two years program for M.A. and PhD. students. In two consecutive
seminars, being linked together didactically and conceptually, the IP asks how
South-Eastern European history can be discussed from a global perspective. The
program thus takes up more recent academic discussions, which came up within
the concept of a "spatial turn" in the humanities since the 1990s. "Space" within
these concepts is not seen any longer as an essential and “given” category, but
configurations of the local, the regional, the national and the transnational are
seen as constructed and contingent entities. These discussions, however, up
until now have had only limited repercussions within the field of South-Eastern
European Studies. How concepts of “global history” and how questions of
transnationalism and spatial entanglements can be applied for the study of
South-Eastern European history and societies, and how South-Eastern Europe
on the other hand can be inscribed into a “global history” largely is undebated up
until now. The IP wants to challenge this dilemma. After a first seminar, which
took place in August 2012 and in which the students became familiar with
theoretical questions of "global history" and which they had identified the topics
for their own research papers, the second intensive course will concentrate on
the discussion of the individual research papers, which have to be prepared
between the two courses. A second focus of the the seminar will be laid on the
elaboration and the final draft of a proposal for a modul-based curriculum
“Globalizing South-Eastern Europe”, which can be introduced in the participating
universities.
The content and methodological orientation of the IP serves to broaden the existing structure of university teaching in the subjects of History and Social Sciences.
The IP enables students to gain insight into global perspectives of their own past
and present; they should be empowered to not only consider the European past
and present from a Central Europe-centred perspective but also from a global one.
The IP therefore contributes to a differentiated perception of the past and present.
One outcome of the IP should be the development of a “Globalizing South-Eastern Europe” model module. Participating university lecturers should integrate the
module into teaching at their respective university. It will be rendered accessible
to a wider university audience by means of ICT, and the relevant databases (e.g.
ViFaOst, Ostdoc server of the Bavarian state library) made available.

Projektbeschreibung
Ziele
Das IP „Perception of Space in Architecture and Culture: Sensory Living
(POSIAC:SL)“, durchgeführt als Summer School, zielt auf die Vermittlung einer in
Architektur, Innenarchitektur und Kulturwissenschaften neuen und umfassenden
Methodenkompetenz in Analyse, Bewertung und Konzeptentwicklung von
Räumen. Mit dem Thema Sensory Living widmet man sich 2013 gezielt
Innenräumen und betrachtet diese als Erlebnisräume. Ziel ist der erfolgreiche
Transfer von erprobten Mustern, wie sie der Naturraum bietet, auf räumliche
Situationen in Architektur und Kultur.
Zielgruppen
Das IP richtet sich an MA-Studierende der Architektur, Innenarchitektur sowie
Kunst- und Kulturwissenschaften, die bereits über Grundkenntnisse der
Raumanalyse sowie des wissenschaftlichen Arbeitens verfügen. Das IP wird
gemeinsam von den vier beteiligten Hochschulen aus der Türkei (Istanbul
Technical University), England (University of Plymouth), der Schweiz
(Hochschule Luzern) und Deutschland (Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe)
durchgeführt.
Hauptaktivitäten
Das zwölftägige Programm integriert theoretische Arbeitsphasen, Aufbau von
Methodenkompetenz und praktische Anwendung in eine ganzheitliche
Konzeption. In drei unterschiedlichen Schwerpunkten – 1) wissenschaftliche
Raumanalyse, 2) empirische Raumwahrnehmung, 3) Transfer zu künstlerischexperimenteller Raumaneignung und Gestaltung – werden in Vorlesungen,
Seminaren und Workshops Kompetenzen aufgebaut. Ziel des Austausches und
der gemeinsamen Arbeit ist es, Strategien zu entwickeln, wie ein Transfer vom
sinnlichen Erfahrungsrepertoire zu räumlichen Konzepten erfolgen kann.
Begleitende Aufgabenstellungen fokussieren sich auf sinnlich raumbildende
Erfahrungen und darauf, wie sich diese kommunizieren lassen. In individuellen
und gemeinsam ausgeführten Übungen wird räumliches Erleben thematisiert.
Dabei wird die vielfältige Naturlandschaft der Region um den Vierwaldstädtersee
für unterschiedliche experimentelle Übungen genutzt. In Konzeptions- und
Entwurfsworkshops wird danach die integrale Abbildung sinnlicher Erlebnisse
und Impulse für Raumlösungen erarbeitet, erprobt und bewertet.
Lernergebnisse
Die Studierenden sollen in einem interkulturellen und interdisziplinären Umfeld
die Fähigkeit erwerben, Räume mit wissenschaftlichen, empirischen und
künstlerischen Methoden zu analysieren und zu bewerten – und diese
Erkenntnisse als Instrumente in den Entwurfsprozess integrieren. Die Möglichkeit
des Austausches von Dozierenden in diesem Forum soll neben einem Feedback
zu der eingesetzten Methodik diese auch konkret weiterentwickeln.
Erwartete Outputs
Zur Kommunikation der Ergebnisse sind geplant: eine Buchpublikation, eine
filmische Dokumentation und mehrere Fachartikel der beteiligten Dozenten. Die
Online-Plattform des IP-Programms wird ausgebaut, das entstandene
Lehrmaterial dort platziert. Die Summer School und ihre Ergebnisse liefern einen
aktiven Beitrag zur internationalen Vernetzung und disziplinenübergreifenden
Zusammenarbeit im Bereich der Raumgestaltung.
Aufbereitung der Ergebnisse
Die Ergebnisse der Summer School „Perception of Space in Architecture and
Culture: Study of Industrial Ruins (POSIAC:SIR)“ werden in den oben genannten
drei Schwerpunkten am Ende des IP präsentiert:
1) kulturwissenschaftliche Raumanalyse
2) empirische Raumwahrnehmung
3) künstlerisch-experimentelle Raumaneignung
Im Rahmen einer Forumsveranstaltung werden die Ergebnisse analysiert,
diskutiert und zusammengeführt.
Folgeaktivitäten zur Verbreitung
Im Anschluss an das IP werden die Ergebnisse in einer umfassenden
Buchpublikation sowie einer filmischen Dokumentation aufbereitet und der
Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht. Darüber hinaus sind von den beteiligten
Dozenten mehrere Fachartikel anvisiert. Eine zentrale Rolle bei der
Kommunikation der Ergebnisse des IP und der Schaffung des internationalen
Kompetenz-Netzwerks zum Thema „Perception of Space“ nimmt die geplante
interaktive Online-Plattform ein. Im Sinne einer nachhaltigen Nutzung der
Instrumente und Dienste der Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologie (IKT)
soll sie dauerhaft als zentrale Kommunikationsplattform des KompetenzNetzwerks, als E-Learning-Plattform sowie als dezentral zugänglicher
Wissensspeicher dienen.
Nachhaltige Implementierung in der Lehre
Es ist geplant, dass auf Basis der Ergebnisse des IP die noch junge, aber bereits
akkreditierte
Vertiefung
„Humanfaktoren“
im
Master-Studiengang
„Innenarchitektur – Raumkunst“ der Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe (existiert seit
Wintersemester 2009/2010) erweitert wird. Analog dazu denken die anderen vier
teilnehmenden Hochschulen die Einführung solcher von dem IP inspirierter
Pflichtmodule im Bereich „Perception of Space“ an. Der transnationale

Austausch in der Lehre soll dabei auch über das IP hinaus von zentraler Rolle
sein.
Multiplikatoreneffekt / Nebenprodukt
Darüber hinaus dient das IP der Initiierung eines geplanten internationalen
Kompetenz-Netzwerks in Lehre und Forschung zum Thema „Perception of
Space“, das im Anschluss an die Summer School mit den beteiligten
Partnerhochschulen aus England, Österreich, der Türkei, der Schweiz und
Deutschland avisiert wird und das weiteren Hochschulen bzw. Fachbereichen
offen stehen soll.

Projektbeschreibung
Der Prozess der europäischen Integration ist Voraussetzung für die
Verwirklichung der vier Freiheiten. Der Begriff der Mobilität ist Ausgangspunkt
und zugleich Ziel der europäischen Integration. Im Zuge der europäischen
Integration ist auch der Zugang zu (öffentlichen) Leistungen im Rahmen der
Daseinsvorsorge anzugleichen. Das IP möchte die Situation mobiler Akteure aus
den teilnehmenden Ländern am IP als Messlatte für den Grad dieser
Erreichbarkeit zunächst auf jeweiliger nationaler Ebene und dann im
internationalen Vergleich nutzen. Mobilität umfasst dabei antizipierend,
begleitend und nachbereitend virtuelle Mobilität als zentrale Herausforderung
gerade auch für die öffentliche Verwaltung.
Vorgesehen ist eine vergleichende Analyse der Interpretation des Begriffs der
Daseinsvorsorge als öffentliche Aufgabe und des Stands der Befriedigung der
Grundversorgungsbedürfnisse in den Partnerländern, insbesondere, inwiefern der
Zugriff auf entsprechende Leistungen bereits online möglich ist. Abschließend
können dann die Auswirkungen der neuen virtuellen Mobilität für den zentralen
Bereich der Daseinsvorsorge auf den Integrationsprozess in Europa eingeschätzt
werden.
Das IP richtet sich an Studierende und Professoren der teilnehmenden
Hochschulen aus fächerübergreifenden Studiengängen im Bereich der
öffentlichen Verwaltung, aus unternehmensorientierten Studiengängen, an
Fachexperten und Experten aus der Verwaltungspraxis und (öffentlichen)
Unternehmen als Referenten.
Die Hauptaktivitäten liegen in vorbereitenden interdisziplinären Recherchen im
jeweiligen nationalen Bereich (Ist-Analyse) – die vor allem in der
Vorbereitungsphase und in der ersten Woche des IP stattfinden sollte – in
der fachübergreifenden thematischen Auseinandersetzung im multinationalen
Kontext (Kritik und Konsolidierung) und schließlich in der Erarbeitung
gemeinsamer akzeptierter Schlussfolgerungen und Ergebnisse (Synthese) – die
vor allem in der zweiten Woche des IP stattfinden sollte. Damit verbunden sind
die Lernergebnisse in Form von fachlichen, interdisziplinären und interkulturellen
sowie teamorientierten methodischen Erkenntnissen.
Ergebnis des IP sind neben den Lernergebnissen und der Studierenden in erster
Linie die Stärkung und Erweiterung der internationalen Netzwerke, starke
Motivationsanreize für weitere Mobilitätsmaßnahmen bei Studierenden und
Dozenten sowie fachlich die Bestandsaufnahme der Situation der
Daseinsvorsorge, der internationale Vergleich und die Ergebnisse der
Untersuchung der Erreichbarkeit der entsprechenden Leistungen über das
Internet.
Die Studierenden werden die Möglichkeit haben, die Ergebnisse des IP bei der
One Stop Europe Konferenz 2013 an der HVF vorzustellen. Die Dokumentation
des IP wird allen nationalen und internationalen Konferenzteilnehmern zur
Verfügung gestellt. Die Dokumentation wird über bestehende Verteiler auch den
Kommunen und anderen interessierten Öffentlichen Körperschaften zur
Verfügung gestellt. Die Dokumentation kann auch online abgerufen werden.
Die Ergebnisse des IP werden zusammen mit der Tagungsdokumentation und
ergänzenden Begleittexten auf den Websites der teilnehmenden Hochschulen
zur Verfügung gestellt. Auf diesen Websites werden Ansprechpartner klar
kommuniziert, damit Fragen von Interessenten kompetent und schnell
beantwortet werden können.
Die Präsentationen mit nationalem Fokus sowie die Abschlusspräsentationen der
internationalen Arbeitsgruppen werden ggf. zusammen mit ergänzenden
Dokumenten zusammengestellt und Interessenten als Datei zur Verfügung
gestellt. Als Medium werden auch Facebook und die Website
http://www.teamspace4students.de/
als
Kommunikationsgrundlage
und
Datenspeicher zur Unterstützung benutzt.
Das IP soll als gemeinschaftliches Projekt der teilnehmenden Hochschulen
etabliert werden. Auf diese Art und Weise wird das bestehende IFPAMNetzwerk um eine zusätzliche inhaltliche Komponente bereichert.
Durch die Kommunikation der Ergebnisse während der internationalen One Stop
Europe Konferenz und durch die Weiterleitung der Ergebnisse in gedruckter
Form bzw. als PDF-Dateien auf CD an den öffentlichen Sektor erhält das IP auch
in seinen Ergebnissen eine deutlich sichtbare europäische Dimension.
Zur Abschlusspräsentation werden Vertreter der Fach- und Tagespresse
eingeladen, damit die Wahrnehmung des Projekts in der Öffentlichkeit
gewährleistet ist.
Die beteiligten Hochschulen entwickeln das Curriculum für einen Joint-MasterStudiengang in European Public Administration and Management. Das IP soll zur
Prüfung einzelner Teile der entwickelten Materialen soweit wie möglich
mitgenutzt werden. Zur Vorbereitung dieser Planung wird beabsichtigt, auch
einzelne Master-Studierende aus bestehenden nationalen Studiengängen zu
dem hier beantragten IP zuzulassen und im Anschluss durch diese evaluieren zu
lassen.

Performance and Media" investigates the various interrelations of performance,
theatre and religion in the transcultural and transnational contexts of Europe. The
project proposes an operational approach to the Religious that allows to revisit
diverse “concepts of holiness” in a broader sense (i.e., outside institutionalized
belief), as they are reflected upon and/or constituted through artistic and cultural
practice. From an interdisciplinary perspective, the project aims to address
questions of how these “concepts of holiness” change in time, how they influence
different discourses and how they are thought through in performance. How can
this reflection be understood as a critical practice, and what is the specific place
of such critical practices within the intercultural context of Europe? Against the
backdrop of the so-called “return of religion” in the 21st century, the project asks
how global events such as 9/11 and the crisis of Capitalism change the
conditions for both the Religious and artistic practice.
Implemented as a Summer School at the University of Mainz, the IP offers
seminars, workshops, an evening lecture series and a thematic cultural
programme as well as intensive dissertation labs for doctoral candidates.
Although primarily targeted at postgraduates, the IP is also open to select M.A.
students and undergraduates. The language of instruction is English.
The outcomes of all individual Summer School units will be documented and
prepared for publication by students in the Documentation Group. The products,
including written reports, PowerPoint presentations, videos, photos and mindmaps, will be made available to the wider public on the IP-website
(www.performedia.uni-mainz.de). The aim is for teachers, participants as well as
interested third parties to be able to access a comprehensive overview of the
Summer School activities and to download the results of each individual course
unit. The use of different media (video, images, written texts) shall achieve a
broad reflection of the diversity of study experiences at the Summer School and
their respective outcomes. Accompanying the documentation on the IP-website,
an online community shall be established via social networking sites, such as
Facebook and Twitter. These sites will serve to share information both before
and after the Summer School on topics related to the IP theme. As experience
has shown in the previous IP, young academics will use these platforms to
develop long-term research collaborations and friendships, and to update each
other on subject-related conferences and publications.
As regards the spin-off benefits of the IP at Mainz, internationalisation at home
will be further strengthened through the offer of a 13-day programme taught in
English by international lecturers, which is open to select M.A. and B.A. students
within the curriculum of the regular study programme of Theatre Studies. This

does not only further internationalise the local study programmes within the field
of the Humanities but it also raises the attractiveness for European students to
study at Mainz within the framework of an Erasmus semester abroad. In
continuation of the successful implementation of international study modules at
Mainz, it is a joint goal to further formalize the existing proven co-operative work
and strengthen new collaborations in a long-term project and structured network,
which will allow to progress towards establishing a joint PhD network within the
framework of an Erasmus Mundus programme or a similar programme.

Projektbeschreibung
Im Rahmen des für drei Jahre veranschlagten Projekts 'Soziale Arbeit in
virtuellen Kontexten' will das für das zweite Jahr (2013) geplante Teilprojekt
'Politischer Aktivismus im Internet' sich mit den Dimensionen des politischen
Aktivismus im Internet beschäftigen. Aktueller Hintergrund sind inzwischen die
Geschehnisse des 'arabischen Frühlings' geworden. Entgegen der scheinbaren
globalen Gültigkeit politischer Aktivitäten verortet sich das Projekt im
Spannungsfeld zwischen nationaler, europäischer und globaler Kultur. Als
Grundlage des politischen Aktivismus im Internet werden dabei die jeweiligen
nationalen politischen Kulturen wie auch die nationalen Medien- und
Kommunikationskulturen angenommen, die in den beteiligten Ländern Türkei,
Deutschland und Niederlande durchaus unterschiedlich ausfallen. Im Projekt
sollen politische und Medienkultur als Teil des nationalen Selbstverständnisses
diskutiert und in den jeweiligen Formen des politischen Internet-Aktivismus
reflektiert werden. Angestrebt wird eine gemeinsame europäische
Handlungsdimension des politischen Aktivismus, die das nationale politische und
mediale Selbstverständnis im Sinne einer europäischen Identität überschreitet.
Zielgruppe sind Studierende der BA- und MA-Studiengänge 'Medienwissenschaft' der beteiligten Universitäten.
Erwartete Ergebnisse sind spezifische Kenntnisse der politischen und medialen
Strukturen der beteiligten Länder, Einblicke in die jeweiligen nationalen
politischen Kommunikationsstrukturen und die Plattformen des politischen
Aktvismus.
Die beteiligten Studierenden erstellen in Eigenarbeit Blogs und Facebook-Foren,
in denen sie die internationale, auf eine europäische Perspektive hinzielende
politische Kommunikation einzuüben lernen.
Erwartete Lernergebnisse sind:

Das im Projekt erstellte Weblog wie auch die Broschüre zu den theoretischen
Dimensionen werden in den beteiligten Institutionen jeweils individuell in die
Lehre der BA-Studiengänge eingebracht. Diese Informationen dienen dazu, die
europäische Konstante in der nationalen Lehre zu verstärken. Dabei können die
im Weblog dokumentierten Ergebnisse als Grundlage weiterer Lehrveranstaltungen dienen.
Es wird davon ausgegangen, dass das Weblog in der Lehre der Partner
individuell und gemeinsam weitergeführt wird. Es wird aus dem Weblog in
Begleitung mit dem Lehrmaterial ein gemeinsames Modul für die Studiengänge
der Partner erarbeitet werden, das eine internationale, stabile Lerngemeinschaft
fördert.
Zusätzlich geben das Projekt und dessen Dokumentationen einen Einblick in die
gemeinsamen Aktivitäten der Partner, der zur Vorbereitung von Studierendenund Dozentenaustausch dient. Das Projekt bietet Anreiz zum europäischen
Austausch wie zur Mobilität von Studierenden und Lehrenden.
In erster Linie soll das Projekt der Erstellung eines gemeinsamen Moduls für die
entsprechenden BA-Studiengänge der Partner dienen. Das Modul soll
dementsprechend einen Schwerpunkt auf „Sozialer Arbeit in virtuellen Welten“
haben. Ausgehend von Projektergebnissen kann – auch unter Zuhilfenahme von
E-Learning und gemeinsamer virtueller Kommunikation – ein entsprechend,
transnational gelehrtes Modul erstellt werden.

Project description
WEB and network security has become one of the top critical issues for today’s
and tomorrow’s IT-experts. Thus, the objectives of the Intensive Programme
“Secure WEB Applications: Best Practices for Protection and Development” are:
- to focus on a very strategic priority area of the ICT industry namely “IT-security”
currently under-represented in ERASMUS student mobility.
- to increase the volume of student and teaching staff mobility throughout Europe
by engaging 72 EU-students and 20 lecturers from 6 European higher education
institutions.
- to improve the quality of their multilateral cooperation by setting up a wellbalanced theoretical and practical seminar agenda and by conducting a joint
explorative investigation of up-to-date methods and tools concerning secure
WEB application by means of: identification of most critical attacks to networks
and network based applications, testing procedures for discovering network and
application vulnerabilities, identifying security risks for organizations and social
networks, designing and developing secure WEB applications,
- to improve the quality and increase the volume of cooperation among the 6
mentioned EU-HEIs and European IT-security enterprises, such as Siemens AG,
McAfee GmbH, OPTIMAbit GmbH, by having industry IT-experts to present case
studies during the IP seminar, by jointly developing practical-oriented seminar
material and lab exercises, and by jointly evaluating with them the students’
performance;
- to facilitate the development of innovative practices in education and training at
tertiary level, and their transfer among the 6 participating EU-HEIs by jointly
developing an IT-security seminar. Apart from lectures, it offers practical-oriented
innovative advanced security lab exercises and virtual lab environments,
currently lacking at the universities because of the danger of infecting the
institutional networks. The IP seminar will have an innovative, interactive ICTbased content. It will lead to a new joint online course opened to all participating
institutions as well as to IT-experts interested in updating their IT-security
knowledge (lifelong learning)
- to train students to cooperate in international teams and thus gain intercultural
social competences, to effectively improve their communicative ability to interact
with their fellow European students in English, to gain entrepreneurial skills and,
thus, developing more confidence in their own knowledge and ability.

This IP is specifically designed for senior European Bachelor students of
computer science, information systems management, business administration,
geoinformatics, mathematics, scientific computing, industrial engineering,
telecommunication engineering and electrical engineering with knowledge in
software engineering. They will be specially selected by their home universities
based on their background in the area of computer networks, software
engineering, WEB applications, and on their fluency in English.
The IP focuses on the majority of classical security attacks, network
vulnerabilities, threats to the networks and WEB applications, and on security
principles. This is based on case studies described by the relevant literature and
by the IT-experts from the industry partners involved in this seminar. The
students will apply in practice the principles recommended for protecting the
networks and for designing, developing, and implementing secure WEB
applications. All labs will provide the students with real network platform
environment where the networks and the applications containing vulnerabilities
can be attacked using different methods and techniques presented during the
lectures. A well diversified social and cultural programme will accompany the
technical activities.
The students will become competent in applying entrepreneurial skills based on
the various lab assignments to be solved in multicultural teams. Based on the
various security aspects from different areas of applications presented during the
seminar as well as based on case studies presented by the industrial partners
the students will get to know the major activities and responsibilities of a security
manager within a company and eventually consider for their future carrier this
type of professional activity.
The preparation and the implementation of this IP will also contribute to a
sustainable improvement of the relationships between the involved institutions
and enterprises. It will initiate new student and staff mobility, exchange programs,
will lead to joint-online courses, joint research, and joint publications. All the
developed materials including the lab assignments will be available online on the
existing online platform developed under the umbrella of "Virtuelle Hochschule
Bayern (vhb)", shared with all partners, and offered to other academic EUinstitutions and industry partners.
The students will learn details about the relevant security risks which an
organization can be exposed to. They learn how to select and use modern tools
for scanning vulnerabilities of the network infrastructures and of WEB applications. They will also learn how to identify the most-frequently used attacks and
threats to the networks and network applications as well as learn the rules which
have to be applied in order to develop and manage secure WEB applications.

The Coordinator will ensure a coordinated approach of all participants so that the
envisaged results (on-going and final ones) of the project reach the widest
audience possible and that every partner disseminates the same content and
messages. The dissemination strategy will follow five key principles:
1. Implement a web-based collaborative space to exchange dissemination
information amongst all partners involved.
2. Assign a professor of each partner university as a so-called ERASMUS LLPspokesperson. He/she will be ready at any time to respond to media questions in
his/her respective country. All spokespersons will, therefore, always have
available updated information and key messages during the entire IP-project.
3. Disseminate at defined, regular intervals to ensure constant awareness.
During their on-line meetings, the partners will always analyse possible
dissemination issues in order to assure a regular flow of information.
4. Benefit from the professionalism of the press departments of all partner
universities: Using their know-how and their already established contacts with the
press will guarantee a smooth entrée into the media.
5. Send out all press releases and announcements simultaneously in every
country and the respective language: This will ensure the strongest possible and
impressive penetration.

Project description
This intensive programme deals with integrated (i.e. holistic) approaches to
urban and landscape planning. The territorial focus is on the peripheries of
European metropolitan areas. Romania’s capital Bucharest is the first case-study
to be explored by an interdisciplinary academic team. The specific emphasis will
be put on the integration of urban planning and landscape architecture. It is
expected that this cooperation will produce innovative solutions to the planning,
design and management of dispersed and fragmented areas in urban fringe
zones. Innovative governance models and active public participation are further
aspects to be addressed. The European demand for integrated planning has
been articulated amongst others by the European Environment Agency in its
flagship report ‘The European environment – state and outlook 2010’. The target
group are students and lecturers from landscape architecture, architecture and
urban planning programmes.
The main activity is a design studio of 12 days duration in Bucharest. The studio
work will be accompanied by a theoretical lecture series in which topical issues
like urban agriculture, process-oriented planning, public participation and green
infrastructure will be addressed. A preparatory phase and a follow-up phase will
be delivered in the form of an online seminar. On the subject-specific level the
principal learning outcome is to enable student to develop spatial visions and
design proposals for multifunctional areas located in the urban periphery. These
visions and design proposals shall result from an integrated approach combining
urban planning and landscape architecture. In addition, the participants shall
develop intercultural competences and a European identity. They will learn how
to work in an international team, to communicate in a foreign language, to
respect cultural differences and to make creative use of the others’ cultural
potentials.
The principal ‘tangible’ output of this programme will be a website where the
lecture materials and lecture recordings of all thematic inputs given before,
during and after the IP will be made available to the wider public. The following
themes will be covered:

• Understanding urban landscape driving forces: the determining factors of
ecology, economy, culture + history, societal needs + trends, policy,
infrastructure and real estate
• Process-oriented planning and design: methodical approaches under
consideration of interdisciplinarity and the time factor
• Governance models and methods public participation
This compilation shall enable students to understand the context of urban fringe
areas from both the landscape and the urban planning perspective and to gain
an understanding of how the theme can be approached methodically. In addition,
an article in which the pedagogical approach of this IP will be presented will be
published.
The principal target group to be addressed are teachers in the fields of landscape
architecture, urban design, environmental planning and public planning.
Therefore, the results (primarily the website as information hub) will be
disseminated via the respective academic networks such as ECLAS; the
European Council of Landscape Architecture Schools (with over 1000 European
staff members registered), and AESOP, the Association of European Schools of
Planning, in particular the AESOP young academics network. The additional
publication of a scientific paper shall ensure that also teachers of neighbouring
disciplines can be reached (such as regional planners, sociologists and cultural
scientists). However, the lecture material to be published is targeted to students.
They shall be reached through the mailing lists of student networks such as
ELASA, the European Association of Landscape Architecture Students, and
similar associations. In addition, a short video illustrating the students’
experiences on site will be published via social media channels in order to reach
a wide range of students worldwide.
The theme of the IP is also highly topical on the political level. Therefore, the
results will also be communicated to national and international associations and
institutions involved in research and promotion of urban sustainability. These are,
amongst others, Eurocities, the network of major European cities, EEA, the
European Environment Agency, ISOCARP, the global association of professional
planners, EFLA, the European Federation for Landscape Architecture and IALE,
the European Association for Landscape Ecology. Membership or close relation
to these associations are well spread across the staff involved in this IP.
In addition, the consortium members will take care that the outputs of this IP are
well disseminated on their respective national level by publishing journal articles,
informing local networks and linking to the project from their websites. The
project website itself will grow further throughout the three IPs envisaged and
develop into an important learning resource. Ideally, the participants should keep
on being involved in the production and further development of this resource
even beyond their study time.
Apart from addressing the subject specific target group it is intended to
communicate the project also to the wider public as well as to stakeholders and
decision-makers. The following measures are envisaged for reaching this goal:
• Invite the local press and radio in Bucharest to IP activities and final
presentation
• Invite a wider local audience (students, teachers, professionals) to the thematic
lectures of the IP in order to reach a good local dissemination of this expertise.
• Invite stakeholders and decision-makers from the local policy level to the final
presentation of the student results in Bucharest. The faculty staff in Bucharest is
well connected to local and regional politics and thus able to implement this
accordingly.
• Press reports in Romanian, English, French, Flemish, German and Estonian
• Contact and use channels of intercultural communication such as the Romanian
editorial office of Deutsche Welle in Bucharest, the Romanian edition of ‘Freies
Radio Stuttgart’ and Arthis, La Maison Belgo-Rumaine in Brussels.
These communication activities shall foster the IP’s impact on the wider
awareness of urban peripheries as an issue of public concern. In addition, the
intercultural aspects of this teaching event are expected to be of interest for
promoters of intercultural communication.

Project description
Students reflect on the challenges facing our world today and create engineering
visions for life on Earth in 25-50 years. In group projects they will flesh out their
engineering vision for a “better world”. In addition to working on an issue from a
particular field (see below), the students will also develop awareness,
sustainability, entrepreneurship, intercultural competencies, industry and society,
multidisciplinary and innovation.
The engineer of the future must be able to express his knowledge in a way that is
accessible to the general public. Today, the population lacks a general
understanding of a number of technological advances. Discussions tend to
rapidly digress into passionate discourses. The job of an engineer will be more
and more to pass on his knowledge to the general population in a way that they
can understand. Thus, it is imperative for engineers to be exposed to courses in
humanities, social studies, ethics, and philosophy. It is up to them to be able to
explain the choices our society makes.
The programme is primarily open for undergraduate students, with the home
university choosing the semester level. Postgraduate students (Master) may
participate if the home university considers this desirable. It is open for all
engineering study courses, including also, for example, natural sciences and
design. 5-7 students and 2-3 lecturers/teachers from each partner university can
participate.
The IP will comprise a four-day plenary phase with short inspiring lectures
(looking into the future, thinking outside the box, philosophical approach) and
training in methodology and creative methods (mind mapping, brain storming,
role plays) as well as an eight-day-period with multiple project groups working on
self-chosen topics. Possible kernels for topics could be from the fields:
bionics, mechatronics, nanotechnology, smart materials, renewable energy,
optical technologies, sports and technology, information technologies, humanmachine interface, product life cycle management, biomedical and forensic
science, intelligent e-maintenance systems, purifying, keeping, transporting
water, revitalization of country side, coal mines, etc.

Expected outputs are:
Level 1: Conceptual studies, implementation plans, presentations and documenttations;
Level 2: Knowledge of working methodology and creative technologies (like brain
storming, mind maps, role plays, world cafe);

Currently we can observe emerging markets for intelligent mechatronic systems
doing their tasks autonomously to a high degree on base of software-controlled
functionality. Products like nursing robots, surveillance & security robots,
intelligent domestic appliances and production robots interacting directly with
skilled workers promise improved quality of life for the people, improvements in
the production and business opportunities for companies. On the other side their
malfunction may also introduce a number of new dangers for people. As these
systems meanwhile have extended communication features they allow extended
service applications – like direct communication between robots working on a
common task or for online system updates. But this also allows rather new forms
of malfunctions: due to manipulated software - e.g. by computer virus attacks via
wireless communication - a simultaneous change from well-tempered behaviour
of hundreds of instances of a machine type towards aggression may be induced.
So safety can only be guaranteed in combination with security.
Especially the method of open source projects may help here to harden the
systems against such attacks. Examples show that the typically large number of
skilled volunteers in such projects achieve a much higher revealing of hidden
problems than other software products. With the well recognized standards (e.g.
EN-IEC-61508 or EN-ISO-13849) the EU already has a good position in the field
of safety of machinery, even covering security aspects. But design, development,
production and service of such safety- and security-critical systems on base of
open source software requires companies tailoring products and services. Beside
an open source community the companies need employees with awareness and
multidisciplinary knowledge in safety & security design which in most regular
university study programmes is not or insufficiently addressed. Supplementing
regular course programmes with an Intensive Programme as proposed here is
certainly a reasonable method to compensate the lack. The required
interdisciplinary approach starts with basic safety principles (analysis of
hardware and software failures, analysis of weak points in software security, risk
assessment, quantification of safety, etc.) and covers hardware aspects
(mechanics, electronics, processors systems etc.) as well as software aspects
(control programs, software quality, testability etc.). Further mentality driven
differences in the perception of people from different countries have to be
aligned. It can be expected that students with such multidisciplinary skills can
help to improve the products and to strengthen the position of European
companies. Hence, the topic is a valuable extension to regular higher education
programmes in mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, computer
science and computer engineering as well as robotics and safety science.
Beside the international and multidisciplinary cooperation of teaching staff and
students the output of the project is an international intensive programme on
assessment and design of safety and security critical robot systems. The course
material comprises presentation sheets, elaborated practical exercises and
additional tutorial material, all as electronic documents. Powerpoint presentations
supported by white-board and flip-chart use according to modern didactic
methods will be applied. All parts of the course material are planned in content,
structure and form during common workshops and will be reviewed finally by at
least two lecturers. This is important with respect to didactic aspects but also to
prevent ambiguity of understanding on international groups. Well known as well
as innovative methods will be used to focus the logical flow presented and on the
attention of the students. These are e.g. the use of dedicated animations in the
presentations, the change of media, interactive communication between lecturers
and students during the lessons and the direct application of the learned contents
in practical exercises. The project done in groups acts as a common coat over
the entire course covering all contents in a practical example application. About
200 presentation sheets with a balanced content density accompanied by 8-10
groups of practical exercises for the key areas and a dedicated tutorial text book
will be the base of course material. The students have to write continued project
reports on their achievements covering specification, project plan, requirements
analysis, design specification, test specification and implementation report. In
addition they have to prepare continued presentations on their project which
have to be made available on the websites. The language generally used is
English, which is a prerequisite in all technical disciplines. Also most of the
literature relevant for safety design is only available in English. However, with
respect to the known communication problems in specifications, country-specific
translations and definitions of the relevant vocabulary has to be provided within
the course material. In addition all lecturers are at least bilingual. Prerequisite for
the successful participation of students on the course is a sufficient background
in mathematics, physics and programming, as it is typically provided in the first
two years of regular university education programs in mechanical engineering,
electronics engineering and computer science and engineering. Ensuring the
academic recognition is achieved by evaluations comprising a number of
complementary methods:
a) participants have to pass an initial test that ensures a sufficient basic entry
level knowledge
b) multiple public presentations and colloquiums in the project groups during the
course

b) reviewing the project reports and
c) individual final test (e.g. oral examinations) at the end of the course
The use of ECTS is mandatory because all partners apply them in their
programs. With respect to the effort and workload required by the students the
assignment of up to 5 ECTS credits is considered appropriate.
Depending on the experiences with the intensive program and a given demand
on the market a continuation as future curriculum development project for aligned
programs or dual degrees of the partner universities in the European context
certainly is interesting. However, a program only fixed on safety and reliability
might be not applicable. The intention mentioned above was to createawareness
for risks of technical systems and to teach appropriate design methods to cope
with these risks. Hence, more interesting spin offs might be the development of
“distance learning” courses for students in this international context and “lifelong
learning” programs for alumni to keep their knowledge with respect to safety
design up to date during their professional career in companies and institutions.
Broad use of ICT-tools is a generic part of the project and the follow up, as can
be see e.g. in the open source approach for software intended here.

Projektbeschreibung
Die zukünftige Energieversorgung Europas kann nur durch einen stetig
wachsenden Anteil regenerativer Energien die notwendige Nachhaltigkeit und
Umweltverträglichkeit erreichen. Aufgrund des fluktuierenden Charakters dieser
Energiequellen – insbesondere der Windenergie und der Sonneneinstrahlung –
erfordert diese wachsende Nutzung regenerativer Energien die Einbeziehung
des Wasserstoffs als tertiären Energieträger und eine Ertüchtigung der Netze
(E- und Gasnetz, Kraftstoffversorgung) für die Einspeisung und Nutzung
dezentraler und fluktuierender Energie.
Das IP FUSES vermittelt den teilnehmenden Studierenden und Dozenten
ingenieurwissenschaftlicher Studiengänge in den Vorlesungen die Grundlagen
für die Einbindung regenerativer Energiequellen in die modernen Energieversorgungskonzepte. Dies geschieht unter Einbeziehung der Wasserstofftechnologie und Brennstoffzellentechnik, der sich entwickelnden Elektromobilität
und unter Beachtung der Erfordernisse für die Stabilität der E-Netze und der
Versorgung mit Kraftstoffen.
Dies wird im IP insbesondere untersetzt durch die Vermittlung der Erfordernisse
der zukünftigen europäischen Energieversorgung unter Berücksichtigung der
Deckungspotentiale der verschiedenen regenerativen Energiequellen und ihrer
technischen Nutzungspotentiale in den einzelnen EU-Ländern. Hieraus ergibt
sich unmittelbar die Motivation für die im IP vermittelte Einführung in die
Konzipierung, Modellierung und Automatisierung der damit erforderlichen
hybriden Energieversorgungssysteme. Im Hinblick auf die zu entwickelnden
Speicherlösungen nehmen dabei moderne wasserstoffbasierte Hybridsysteme
unter Einsatz von Brennstoffzellen mit der derzeitigen Inbetriebnahme mehrerer
Pilotprojekte eine zentrale Stellung ein.
Die Vorlesungen werden ergänzt durch praktische Laborversuche an den
Versuchsständen im Komplexlabor Alternative Energien der Fachhochschule
Stralsund.
Hauptergebnis des IP FUSES ist das Vertrautwerden der Studierenden und
Dozenten mit den Potenzen der Wasserstofftechnologie im Kontext des
Einsatzes der verschiedenen erneuerbaren Energien und der Vermittlung erster
praktischer Erfahrungen im Umgang und in der Automatisierung brennstoffzellenbasierter hybrider Energieversorgungssysteme.
Zusätzlich stellt die Zusammenarbeit in multinationalen Gruppen einen
wesentlichen Schritt zur Entwicklung eines gesamteuropäischen Verständnisses
und Lehr-/Forschungsverbundes zwischen den beteiligten Hochschulen dar.
Absicht ist es, auf der Grundlage des IP weiterführende Forschungs- und
Ausbildungsprojekte mit den Partnern durchzuführen, um dem technischwissenschaftlichen Fortschritt Rechnung zu tragen. Insbesondere sollen
entsprechend der innovativen Thematik des IP behandelte Sachverhalte zu
weiterführenden R&D-Projekten der beteiligten Hochschulen führen.
Mit der Durchführung des IP wird angestrebt, die Austauschaktivitäten
(Dozenten, Ba-/Ma-Studierende) über das Gebiet der erneuerbaren Energien
hinaus zu erweitern und zu intensivieren. Dabei ermöglicht die Attraktivität des
Angebots zukünftig u.U. einen größeren Eigenanteil der Teilnehmer. Aufgrund
der Aktualität der Thematik soll zukünftig eine noch stärkere Verzahnung mit der
regionalen Wirtschaft erreicht werden, so dass durch Einbeziehung von
Ingenieuren aus der Region dem europäischen Netzwerkgedanken und dem
Aspekt des lebenslangen Lernens noch stärker Rechnung getragen werden
kann.

Project description
The IP Workshop “Connecting Europe” aims to develop sustainable development
concepts for the reintegration and reactivation of the abandoned toll areas of
Strasbourg and Kehl on an urban and architectural scale. It focuses on the goal
of designing a common European space with cross-border living and working
conditions that enhances the potentials of both cities. The project is embedded in
the overall question of how urban spaces can be planned and implemented in
former border areas, and how they can contribute to giving Europe a new,
inclusive face.
Target groups of the IP-participants will be BSc students in their 3rd year and
MSc or Diploma students of architecture and/or urban design and landscape
planning. The composition of the group will be based on a geographical balance
aimed at promoting a multilateral dialogue of European and non-European
participants. Target teaching groups will be staff members of the participating
universities with expertise in architectural and urban design as well as landscape
planning. For special input sessions, external experts will be involved.
Main activities:
Main activities within the IP-project will be a two-week workshop (3+3 ECTS) to
develop ideas for the future urban connecting point between Strasbourg und
Kehl. The workshop will be subdivided in two phases: Analysis of the site and
surrounding quarters (phase 1), and the design of development concepts
(phase2). Furthermore, the workshop will be supported by 1) input sessions of
experts in the field of urban planning, landscape architecture, sociology, ecology
and infrastructural planning as well as 2) best practice sessions with the
possibility to visit eco-quarters in southern Germany.
Learning outcomes of the students:
1) professional competence: acquiring expertise in the field of sustainable
architecture and urban planning, designing long-term strategic concepts in an
interdisciplinary and multicultural project setting, dealing with the complex
requirements of cross-border urban development
2) soft-skills: team-oriented designing, presenting and evaluating architectural
and urban design concepts within a short-time schedule
Expected outputs will be:
1) Intensified analysis of the problems and opportunities of the Strasbourg/Kehl
toll region concerning the a) social b) spatial c) ecological d) economical e)
infrastructural aspects on different scales
2) Graphic and 3-D-visualization of development strategies for the
Strasbourg/Kehl project area
3) Information exchanges between students and experts about aspects of crossborder sustainable architecture and urban planning
The results of the IP-Workshop will be posted on a website (www.labor8.de/
ConnectingEurope) as well as published in an electronic publication produced by
the participants that can be downloaded from the website. It will comprise

lectures given by participating professors as well as team presentations for each
phase of the workshop. Printed copies of this publication will be distributed to the
departments of urban planning in Strasbourg and Kehl as well as to the libraries
of the IP-Partner-Universities.
The most important ICT-tool used in the project and during the follow-up activities
will be a dedicated file sharing platform which allows the exchange of digital
presentations, lectures and text files as well as CAD data files. This platform also
provides space for an online discussion panel and will help us to continue
working with simulation software and share intermediate results of the simulation
processes.
The possibility to use the webpage to post the outputs will be a further means to
disseminate the results of the project to a wider public. A possible spin-off could
evolve from the presentation of the results to the public administration in
Strasbourg and Kehl. The students’ concepts can offer a different point of view
and special perspectives for the project area, which is to be developed in a short
time.
The envisaged printed copies will be distributed to the departments of urban
planning in Strasbourg and Kehl as well as to the departments and libraries of
the IP-partner-universities (see also 4.2.) in order to share the results of the IPproject on an academic level.
All students will be given the opportunity to continue working on more detailed
architectural and urban planning projects for the site during the winter term
2012/13. This ensures the integration of the IP Workshop results into the study
programme of all IP partners and provides the basis for a possible future
implementation of the IP as a regular part of the study programme.
An important follow-up activity will be the organisation of an exhibition in
Strasbourg/Kehl in spring 2013 where the results for the site which were
completed during the winter term will be shown to the public. The exhibition will
include plans and models as well as a video documentation of the IP Workshop.
Press releases about the exhibition will be prepared by the IP Partners and sent
to the editorial offices of the local newspapers as well as to professional
magazines. This will support the recognition of our work on a regional and
national level. Furthermore, invitations to the opening of the exhibition will be
sent to the local and regional politicians in order to enhance the recognition of
and discussion about our projects.

Projektbeschreibung
Das erste Projekt der dreiteiligen Projektreihe hat 2011 in Kreisau, Polen, mit
großem Erfolg stattgefunden. Das zweite Projekt der Reihe „European Forum of
History and Arts“ wurde 2012 in Liège (Belgien) durchgeführt.
Das dritte Projekt aus der Reihe des „European Forum of History and Arts“ ist in
Luxemburg geplant. Auch diesmal wird sich das Projekt mit dem Thema der
Migration beschäftigen. In Kreisau lag der Schwerpunkt auf der vergangenen
Geschichte, vor allem auf dem Thema der Erzwungen Migrationen vor und nach
dem 2. Weltkrieg. In Liège war der Fokus auf die Gegenwart und auf die
Einflüsse der Migration auf die heutige Situation vor allem im kunstschaffenden
Bereich gerichtet.
Mit dem Forum in Luxemburg soll das Thema „Migration“ nun unter neuen
Blickwinkeln betrachtet werden. Philosophisch-ethische Überlegungen von
Migration sollen mehr im Vordergrund stehen. So sollen z. B. aktuelle und
europäische Migration, Vorurteile und deren Ausblick für die Zukunft
soziologisch, kunsthistorisch, philosophisch und historisch analysiert und
künstlerisch bearbeitet werden.
Das Projekt wird im ehemals industriegeprägtem Süden Luxemburgs stattfinden.
Ca. 50% der Bevölkerung im Süden Luxemburgs kann einen
Migrationshintergrund aufweisen und so wird Industrie- und Migrationsgeschichte
ein Bestandteil des heutigen Lebens in diesem Teil des Landes.
Die Projektarbeit sollte einen zukunftsgerichteten Fokus und nicht Rückblick als
Ausgangspunkt für die Veranstaltung bringen. Die Stadt Differdange, die
besonders durch ihre Stahlindustrie bekannt wurde, bietet einen idealen
Projektort, an dem alle Teilnehmer arbeiten, zusammenleben und die
Abschlussausstellung als öffentliche Veranstaltung konzipieren können. Des
Weiteren soll die Stadt Dudelange mit eingebunden werden sowie der Norden
des Landes und die Hauptstadt Luxembourg als Vergleichsorte. Hier ist eine
eintägige Exkursion mit Führungen eingeplant.
Auch im Jahr 2013 wird neben der künstlerischen Auseinandersetzung eine
wissenschaftliche Bearbeitung durch Studierende und Professoren der Geschichte
und Soziologie stattfinden (in künstlerischen Werkstätten und in der
Geschichtswerkstatt). Besonders wichtig wird bei diesem Projekt in Luxemburg
auch die Zusammenarbeit mit verschiedenen Institutionen sein:

Dies wird den Studierenden die Möglichkeit geben, Einblicke in mögliche
Berufsfelder zu erhalten und erste Arbeitserfahrungen zu sammeln.
Die Ergebnisse werden in Vorträgen und einer öffentlichen Ausstellung in
Differdange vorgestellt. Eine mehrsprachige Publikation erscheint nach
Abschluss des Projekts. Zudem wird eine Wanderausstellung geplant.
Ziel des Projekts ist die gemeinsame Auseinandersetzung mit europäischer
Geschichte durch gestalterische und historische Workshops mit Studierenden
aller beteiligten Hochschulen. Dabei ist der interdisziplinäre und
länderübergreifende Ansatz ein wichtiger Aspekt, um die komplexe
Vergangenheit auf europäischer Ebene zu verstehen und sie für die Zukunft
nutzbar zu machen.
Wie im vorangegangenen Projekt soll auch in diesem Jahr die Kooperation mit
Historikern neue Impulse geben. Wissenschaft und Gestaltung arbeiten
zusammen, Synergieeffekte werden ausgelotet und genutzt. Für die
Positionierung am internationalen Arbeitsmarkt ist dieser interdisziplinäre Ansatz
wichtig.
Studierende sollen voneinander lernen und gemeinsam mit den Lehrenden der
anderen beteiligten Hochschulen ihren intellektuellen Horizont erweitern,
gleichzeitig aber auch durch die konkrete Anwendung in Form einer Ausstellung
und öffentlicher Vorträge die gesellschaftliche Relevanz ihrer Arbeiten
überprüfen. Dies sind wichtige Aspekte im Sinne der Zielsetzung des BolognaProzesses, nämlich der Befähigung der Studierenden zum zivilgesellschaftlichen
Engagement sowie zur Anreicherung der „employability“ der Berufsbefähigung
eines Gestalters und Historikers, die in der traditionellen Lehre an einer
Hochschule häufig zu kurz kommen.

Die künstlerischen Werkstätten und die Geschichtswerkstatt werden im
Austausch miteinander arbeiten. Die Teilnehmer sollen - ohne an nur eine
Disziplin gebunden zu sein - Projektansätze entwickeln. Die Leiter der
Werkstätten werden in fächerübergreifenden Teams zusammenarbeiten und die
Studierenden der verschiedenen Disziplinen (Soziologie, Geschichte,
Politikwissenschaften, Architektur, Landschaftsarchitektur, Produktdesign,
Multimedia, Performance, Visual Art, Klang, Sprache, Fotografie) betreuen und
zur interdisziplinären Projektarbeit führen.
Der Lernprozess wird von den internationalen und aus unterschiedlichen
Fachrichtungen kommenden Lehrenden z.T. im team-teaching organisiert. Dazu
werden

problemorientiert=PBL) nutzen.
Für die Öffentlichkeitsarbeit wurde eine zweisprachige Presseinformation
vorbereitet und eine Datenbank der Pressekontakte angelegt. Durch die
Bemühungen der Professoren der Kunstakademie Liège konnte die lokale
Presse (Zeitung, TV und Radio) als medialer Partner gewonnen werden.
Die Visuelle Identität (Logo, Plakat, Webseite, Banner, Pressemappe usw.) für
das Projekt wurde durch das Organisationsteam gestaltet.
Das Programm sowie der genaue Ablaufplan des Projektes werden in Absprache
mit dem Organisationsteam in Liège zusammengestellt.
In einer wissenschaftlich-künstlerischen Dokumentation in vier Sprachen sowie
einer Wanderausstellung in Form multimedialer Inszenierungen der
Projektergebnisse wird die Wichtigkeit der Thematik nachhaltig der Öffentlichkeit
präsentiert und nahe gelegt.
Aus den Erfahrungen des Projektes in Kreisau wird darüber hinaus im Zuge der
Re-Akkreditierungsbemühungen der Fachrichtung Kommunikationsdesign an der
FH Trier geplant, ein interdisziplinäres, die internationalen Zielsetzungen der
Ausbildung anreicherndes Modul, in den Lehrplan einzuführen, in dem
interkulturelle Wissensbestände und Kompetenzen nachhaltig und kontinuierlich
vermittelt werden.

Project description
This Erasmus IP Soil & Water consists of an interdisciplinary international
teaching course for students from four EU countries. Thematically it unifies the
expertise from the following fields: soil science and ecology, plant sciences and
zoology. The activity will foster student's knowledge and competence regarding
interactions between soils, plants and soil organisms with special emphasis on
soil processes and effects of drought and flooding on plants and soil organisms.
It will also define major risks of soil degradation. The structure of the IP will be
able to establish a link between soil functions and societal needs and
expectations.
Target groups of this IP are students from advanced undergraduate and
graduate levels having curricula focussed on biology and environmental
sciences. The IP “Soil & Water” was set up by the Ulm University, which is also
the coordinating institution. Besides students from Germany, also participants
from the Czech Republic, Estonia and France will be involved.
There are several teaching instruments applied in this programme. Teaching
courses will be provided by experts from partner universities, who will cover
specific fields (i.e. soil development and degradation, soil microbiology, plant-soil
interactions, etc.). Field trips and on-site teaching will demonstrate key system
elements and main processes related to soil environment and its effects on
plants and soil organisms. Seminars elaborated and presented by students will
prepare the participants for these subjects and reflect the knowledge gained.
Students will gain an interdisciplinary insight in different areas of soil science and
plant ecology. Participants will obtain 9 ETCS after finishing this course.
Teaching material created during the IP will be provided via internet and will be
available also for succeeding courses. Various dissemination activities are
planned and will cover a central webpage, an e-learning platform with teaching
materials and a discussion forum, a field site guide an a final student report.
The results of the IP will be discussed between the partners and at each
university within the departments. This will bring common knowledge among the
participant concerning the topic of the IP. For the transnational level the IPForum will be used. The results will be shared with other organisations, also
regarding the planning of follow-up activities:
- Integrating the results of the IP in the HRK-Audit „Internationalisation“ where
Ulm University takes part
- Publishing the results in the University journals (e.g. UniUlm intern)
- Organising a Erasmus staff training together with the partners of the IP, open to
all interested persons, like Erasmus departmental or institutional coordinators

Project description
The objectives of this summer course are to present the developments of civil
and structural engineering in the field of modeling and simulation and the
application of advanced methods. The summer course will offer a possibility for
an exchange of ideas about specific themes and topics of interest among the
participants. Because of the increasing demand for sophistication, more and
more structures are designed by groups of engineers from different countries,
which require harmonized design and construction codes. The basis was created
by the adoption of the harmonized standards by the European Commission
(Eurocode). The proposed summer course will address these issues and deal
with experiences resulting from their implementation. Current international
research projects from the participating institutions will contribute significantly to
improve the transparency, understanding and acceptance of the work within the
European Union.
Key aspects of the planned summer course will be derived from international
research projects being carried out by the partner institutions. The BauhausUniversität Weimar’s Research Training Group 1462 (“Model Validation in
Structural Engineering") will be involved in the course to present results from
current research in addition to the lectures’ content. Another objective will be to
further strenghten the partnerships for future joint activities. Different viewpoints
about the current code adoption and state of research will be implied.

The course targets post-graduate students (i.e., second cycle (M.Sc.) and third
cycle (PhD)) from related fields/specialisations in different institutions and
countries to enable expert knowledge transfer between the participants. The
interdisciplinary teamwork in the projects combined with an intensive assistance
by the academic staff shall enable the students to prepare a final presentation
and explain the project results. Different language skills of the participants pose
high demands on the project organization and management skills and will train
the ability to work in a temporarily established, international team.
The summer course will be divided into two parts. The first part will deal with the
necessary theoretical basics, current state of research projects and special
lectures from members of partner institutions. The second part of the course will
offer the possibility of interdisciplinary team work within project groups. The
participants have to work on one project from six different options. The project
work will be carried out in small groups under intensive supervision by home and
guest lecturers. An introduction to specific research themes of all partners will be
offered through special lectures. Participating students will have the possibility to
present their work in special theme sessions. To highlight the necessity of model
validation and simulation, excursions to construction sites will be organized (see
Annex 1 – draft of time schedule 2012).
The expected output of the summer course is to enable participating students to
deal with advanced methods in model validation and simulation and its practical
application. The participants will be invited to create their own networks for their
future career. In sum, the planned summer course at the Bauhaus-Universität
Weimar will provide a platform for networking among the participants and
participating institutions. Furthermore, the exchange of ideas between the partner
institutions, especially in the field of structure related (frame, bridges, etc.)
developments, will be intensified.
Participating students may conclude the summer course with an examination or
appropriate extra work enabling them to obtain four credit points according to the
European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). Successful completion and
presentation of the project results will provide the basis of the final examination.

The planned summer course has been offered in the described format as
minimum for the three years, whereas the content of the lectures and projects
were varied/ adjusted to the experiences of the previous course, to current
problems and current research topics.
Synergies will be created by the integration of the Alumni Programme of the
Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, so that further participants can contribute or
participate at the planned summer course.
Especially students of the current master course “Natural Hazards and Risk
Engineering” of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will have the opportunity to
supplement their studies by project work. In addition, it is planned that special
topics from the summer course can be continued/ transferred in Master Thesis or
optional modules/ projects.

Project description
Globalization, international networking, intercultural communication and
integration of all people into the society are the main keywords of the IP “Smart
Home”. The idea of the IP is to create solutions for intelligent houses or flats
were people with disabilities or elderly people who have some physically
complaints can live independently and self-determined by use of technology. The
IP “Smart Home” has been developed for engineering students of different
engineering disciplines and study levels of the partner’s universities to integrate
subjects of ambient assisted living in the study programs. The future engineers
mostly did not deal with such problems during their studies. They should learn
and experience how products, transport or communication technology can be
designed so that it is usable for all people (user centered design, design for all).
They should develop themselves solutions for living and common buildings in
which people with special needs are able to live and work independently and
self-determined.
The participating teachers have different scientific background and experience.
They are working at different universities in different countries so that they are
representatives of different cultures and different teaching styles. But all teaching
staff have a relationship to the area of smart home, user centered design and/or
ambient assisted living in their research work. They will give lectures about
medical problems, safety technology, measurement of biomedical parameters,
technology of robots and communication means, design for all and so on.
Furthermore they are the supervisors for the internationally mixed teams during
the project work. The teachers give special project tasks, discuss problems and
solutions with the student’s teams and assess the results.
The language of the IP is English as a foreign language for all participants. The
students have to prepare the IP at home and to discuss the results during the IP.
The active participation of the students is their project work in interdisciplinary
and internationally mixed teams. They have to discuss the strategy for the
solution of the given problems, to organize the division of labour between them,
to do research, design and developing work, to make some experimental tests, to
write a report, to prepare and to present the results.
The learning outcomes are the improvement of using English as a working
language, the promotion of team working skills, the development of conflict
management and ability to compromise, the tolerance between different cultures

and living experiences, the training of international cooperation and last but not
least the experience of integration of people with special needs into the society.
The learning outputs of the IP are the learning diary of every internationally
mixed team, the report and the presentations of the project results and the
summary articles about the IP which the national teams write and present after
the IP at the home university.
An IP website will be developed on which the main results are published.
The planned follow-up activities are:
- every national group writes an article for their university homepage and/or (if it
is existing) for a print media of the university
- every national group gives an oral presentation to other students of the home
university and/or public people about the IP within the scope of studium generale,
dies academicus, student's scientic days or other events
- the Learning Diaries are in the public area of OTIMA after the IP
- the IP results, especially the results of the long term project should be
integrated into other teaching courses at the partner's universities; all
participating professors are required to use them
- to implement the whole IP in study courses of the partner's universities would
be impossible, but parts of its results will be implemented into several courses
- the IP may influence the cooperation (bi- or multilateral) of the participating
universities in education and research, for example by developing ideas for
research projects, exchange of students during internship period or for final
thesis or others
- some results may be interesting also for the participating companies or
enterprices and it is possible that a new cooperation between university and
industry would start
