Save the Date! - Calabasas Chamber of Commerce
TM APRIL 2011 TM Chamber Launches On-line-Radio Station The Calabasas Chamber is preparing to launch its very own on-line radio station, CalabasasChamberRadio.com. CalabasasChamberRadio. com is a unique on-line marketing tool that will greatly enhance chamber member benefits by giving each member an opportunity to maximize their business exposure – both on and off line. The Calabasas Chamber of Commerce has partnered with BigMediaUSA, a leading producer of on-line broadcast content since 2006. “Online radio brings a new dimension for the chamber to provide marketing that spans the entire business community,” states Tony DeMaio, Chairman / CEO of Big Media USA. “It is ground breaking for a chamber to offer a program that not only has the potential to increase local business, but also benefits those businesses that need a national presence.” Chamber President / CEO Maureen Whalen will interview business owners and “C” level executives, giving them the opportunity to express their passion and expertise to an audience like no other medium can. Those interviews stay on both the main BigMediaUSA site as well as the CalabasasChamberRadio.com site, and are available to listeners 24/7. These sites can then be marketed through mailers, email, print ads and linked to other on-line social media sites. “Each radio interview is cross linked within the Big Media USA broadcast platform,” states Michelle Paquette, owner of All Ways Consulting and Vice-Chair of Chamber Development for the Board of Directors. “This platform has over 10 networks of content, giving our members nearly unlimited potential for getting their message out.” CalabasasChamberRadio.Com officially launches mid-month. Stay tuned for details! For more information or to find out how to book your show on www.CalabasasChamberRadio.com, contact the Calabasas Chamber or Michelle Paquette at [email protected]. The objective of the survey was to enable our members to provide feedback to the board so that we can plan the types of programs you desire and provide value to your membership. We received a 15% response rate so far. I would love to hear more! The survey is still available at Member Survey so if you haven’t already responded, please take a minute to answer a few questions. Or, let any board member or deputy know how you feel when you see us at the next. Here is a summary of what we have heard: By far, the majority of you joined the chamber for networking and marketing purposes. Secondly, two-thirds of you feel we are meeting or exceeding your expectations with respect to the reasons you joined the chamber. Twenty percent responded they are unaware of our Economic and Government Affairs Committee and our Education Committee. Some of you indicated that you are not aware of the marketing opportunities available (such as sponsorship opportunities and mailing list availability). Finally, under “areas of business training and professional development” most desired, marketing and business development led the list of responses. We are interested in hearing more about programs and services that you would like us to make available. We would also like to hear about changes you would like to see with our current programs. You asked for more luncheons with good, hot food, and interesting speakers, and we are listening. We are bringing back our lunch series on a bi-monthly basis. These luncheons will be held at the Calabasas Country Club and will alternate with smaller, brownbag lunches held at the chamber office. These smaller gatherings, or “Lunch and Learn’s” will allow members the opportunity to improve your networking skills and to get to know other members in a small friendly setting. In response to member requests, I am happy to report that we are expanding our “Up Close and Personal” events. Beginning this month on April 14, these informative gatherings will be held every other month. They will give members the chance to hear from - and interact with - public officials on a regular basis. April’s Up Close and Personal will introduce our newest city council members, Lucy Martin and Fred Gaines. Member Orientations are also making their way back to a “regularly scheduled” basis. Each quarter, members will have the opportunity to learn about your chamber: what it can do for you and how to get the most from your membership. For those of you who attended the first one on March 31st at the Sagebrush Cantina, we hope you found it informative and interesting. If you weren’t able to make the March gathering, watch for news of the next one, scheduled to take place in June. This is just the beginning. Additional programs, events, and opportunities are being developed - all based on your feedback and suggestions. If you aren’t already, we encourage you to get involved! Like anything else in life, the more you give, the more successful you - and the chamber - will be. There is something for everyone…just ask. City Manager Tony Coroalles offers Chamber President / CEO Maureen Whalen her first official tour of Calabasas City Hall. 6 • www.calabasaschamber.com ...From the desk of the Chamber Sheriff Chamber Sheriff Amanda Beck and her Deputies: Working to assure arresting hospitality for members and guests! Howdy folks! Sheriff Amanda Beck here. My main focus this month is to bring on six new energetic deputies to represent the Calabasas Chamber. What is a Deputy you ask? The Deputy Committee Consists of Chamber members whose responsibility it is to “meet and greet” the Chamber membership at functions, assimilate new members into the Chamber, contact members by phone and, in general, promote the benefits of the Chamber to other members and the community. It is the goal of the Deputies to help new members find their niche in the Chamber. Who Makes a good Deputy? To be a Deputy, a person should be friendly, outgoing and able to approach people they don’t know at Chamber functions. A Deputy is the person who searches out “wallflowers” at mixers, breakfasts and luncheons and introduces those people to others and helps them network. Requirements for becoming a Deputy: Chamber member for 6 months, be able to attend: NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION, CHAMBER BREAKFAST, CHAMBER LUNCHEON,D E P U T Y COMMITTEE MEETING. Please see me or any Deputy wearing a badge if you are interested. Until next month, Sheriff Beck Chamber Members help welcome new member Wolf Creek Restaurant and Brewing Company at a St. Patrick’s Day mixer March 17.
