Tyrolean & Bavarian Adventure
✓ Ascent and descent on the Hartkaiser
funicular railway
Day 1 Following our channel crossing to Calais we
travel to our overnight half board accommodation.
Day 2 We complete the journey to Hinterthiersee in
the Tyrol.
Day 3 Morning at leisure before we depart for
Kitzbühel, a smart cosmopolitan Tyrolean village with
pleasant pedestrianised areas and shops. We return
via Ellmau where we have included an ascent and
descent on the Hartkaiser funicular railway to the
summit with panoramic views of the surrounding
Alpine peaks.
Day 4 Today we travel to Lake Chiem in Bavaria.
From Prien we take the boat across the biggest and
prettiest lake in Bavaria to the island Herrenchiemsee,
where the beautiful Palace “Herrenchiemsee” is
located. It was built by the famous King Ludwig II and
similar to the Palace of Versailles in Paris.
Day 5 We travel to the charming village of
Berchtesgaden and the famous ‘Eagle’s Nest’.
Perched on a mountain summit, its unusual position
emphasises its daring and unique engineering feat.
Day 6 We travel to Lake Achen where we board our
included boat cruise from Scholastika to Pertisau. We
return via Rattenberg, the oldest town in the Tyrol,
now famous for crystal and glass workshops.
Day 7 We depart our hotel and travel to our
overnight half board accommodation.
Day 8 Continue to Calais and complete the journey
home.

Day 1 Following the Channel crossing to Calais we
travel to our overnight half board accommodation.
Day 2 We complete the journey to our hotel and
enjoy a welcome drink followed by dinner.
Day 3 Today we travel to Jenbach, where we join the
original Achenseebahn Cog Railway, which dates
back to 1889. The train winds its way up above the
Inn Valley to the shores of the largest Alpine lake in
the Tyrol, Lake Achen. We return via Rattenberg, the
oldest town in the Tyrol, now famous for its crystal
and glass showrooms.

Day 4 Enjoy a day at leisure in Niederau and take
advantage of the hotels leisure facilities. Following
dinner enjoy an evening of fun and entertainment at a
traditional Tyrolean Folklore Evening in the sister
hotel, the Hotel Harfenwirt.
Day 5 Today we enjoy a journey on the Ziller Valley
Steam Train On July 31st, 1902 this wonderful narrow
gauge steam train made its first journey from Jenbach
to Mayrhofen.
Day 6 Today we visit Salzburg, the Mozart capital of
the world. Our included guided walking tour of this
magical city will show you the highlights. There will
be free time for shopping and sightseeing.
Day 7 Today we have a journey on the Pinzgauer
Nostalgic Train from Mittersill to Krimml. For more
than 100 years the narrow-gauge railway has been
winding along the Salzach River and past the national
park Hohe Tauern through the picturesque valley. The
nostalgic steam train will bring you to Krimml and
Krimml waterfalls, the 5th highest in the world. It is
possible to get very close to this breathtaking natural
spectacle but it does involve a fairly level walk of
around 15-20 minutes, but well worth the effort.
Day 8 We depart our Austrian hotel and travel to our
overnight half board accommodation.
Day 9 Continue to Calais and complete the journey
home.
