SCRAP FOR CHANGE: Raising money to change the world. The dumpster has arrived and will be in the parking lot for the month of April! Ferrous metal (magnetcis) can go inside the dumpster. Examples of ferrous metal includes sheet iron (washers, dryers, bikes, etc), heavy metals (cast iron, machinery), and plate and structural (I beams, steel plates, etc). Non-ferrous metals (non-magnetci) go next to the dumpster on the ground. Signs are posted next to the dumpster with this information as well. ALSO - we would like to extend a “Thank you!” to Regal’s Scrap yard in Howell who has agreed to come pick up (and pay us for!) massive pieces of steel - like old train cabooses (true story!). ANNUAL GARAGE SALE GIVEAWAY Our annual garage sale giveaway will be Saturday, May 24 from 9am -12pm in the parking lot of McCormick park. If you have items you wish to donate please bring them to the parking lot of the park the morning of May 24 at 8am. CULVER’S FUNDRAISER Not that you need a reason to go eat ice cream...but here’s a good one! We have teamed up with the Okemos Culver’s again for a fundraiser for the Children’s mission trip to Kenosha, WI this July. Come to the Okemos Culver’s on Thursday April 24 between 4pm and 10pm and 5% of all sales will go to benefit the mission trip. JOY UNIVERSITY CARNIVAL Our end of the year carnival is just around the corner! The carnival will be Wednesday April 30 from 6pm-8pm in the church parking lot/fellowship hall (weather permitting). We will have a petting zoo, food, games, and prizes. Students have been earning tickets to use in the games all year for participating in the week’s theme, bringing friends to Joy U, and memorizing Bible verses. Tickets will also be available for purchase the night of the carnival (5/$1). Contact Aaron Mayes (517-862-2116) or Charlotte Eifert (517-819-3406) with questions. SERVING DINNER WFMC serves dinner every second Sunday at the Lansing Rescue Shelter from 5:30pm-7:15pm. It is a very rewarding time to serve the ladies and the children residing at the shelter. There is no cooking, food is brought to the shelter already cooked and ready to serve! SUNDAY MORNINGS: KIDVENTURE - The Ultimate Transformer During this series the children will learn about Jesus’ death and resurrection. We will begin meeting in the Youth Room at 9:30am and break off into smaller groups for discussion. Mid-Week JR. HIGH (Grades 6-8) Our midweek ministry that includes obnoxious fun, food, videos, games, skits, hanging with friends, talking about every day issues and finding God in it all. We meet Tuesdays at 7:00pm in the Youth Rm-Lower Level SR. Basic Training For a Few Good Men will build you up in order for you to be free to “be all that you can be,” a man of convictions, commitments, compassion, and courage. The DivorceCare group meets weekly to help you face these challenges. DivorceCare group participants spend time as a support group discussing what was presented in that week’s video seminar and what is going on in the lives of group members.
