Your Credit Union in the Community
U.S. New Mexico Federal Credit Union was a proud sponsor of the
2007 American Cancer Society Relay for Life. With your help, and
the help of U.S. New Mexico employees, we raised over $11,500 for
research and cancer prevention.
This was U.S. New Mexico’s first time participating in the event, and
we were honored with the “Rookie of The Year” award. We would
like to thank Weck’s and Olive Garden Restaurants, Pro Image,
Smith’s Food Store and All About Trophies for donating food, T-shirts
and give-a-ways to support the USNMFCU walkers!
On behalf of the American Cancer Society and U.S. New Mexico
Federal Credit Union, thank you for your contributions and for
supporting cancer research.
We will be closed Monday, October 8, in observance of Columbus Day.

U.S. New Mexico Federal Credit Union is dedicated
to helping you realize your financial goals —
reducing your debt, saving for higher education,
buying your first home, or planning for retirement —
which is why we are excited to announce your
newest benefit of membership: BALANCE Financial
Fitness Program.
If bills have gotten out of hand, your counselor may
be able to arrange a Debt Management Plan.
BALANCE negotiates with creditors to reduce
interest and fees so you can pay your debt quickly
and efficiently. As a member of U.S. New Mexico,
the program's monthly administration fee of $20 is
waived.
Through BALANCE, you have access to free,
unbiased money management information and
assistance. All you have to do is make a toll-free
phone call.
To use the new program, simply call 888-456-2227.
Counselors are available Monday through Thursday,
5 am to 8 pm, Friday, 5 am to 5 pm, and Saturday,
8 am to 5 pm (PST), or visit www.balancepro.net for
more information.
BALANCE counselors can answer many of your
questions immediately — from how long an item
stays on your credit report to whether it's better to
lease or buy a car. For more complex issues, such as
debt elimination or budget development, an
appointment will be scheduled — giving you the
personal attention you need to meet your
objectives.
We recognize that money concerns have a serious
effect on your quality of life. Now, through our
newest partnership, you have access to the very
best professional guidance — so you can achieve
financial security faster than you ever thought
possible.
Credit Unions Shine in Online Consumer Study
Credit unions come out significantly ahead in
satisfaction measures — by eight percentage
points more than large banks and by 12
percentage points more than community banks —
in a study of online consumer banking habits.
Seventy-four percent of the respondents pay bills
through online sources. Of those:
The 2007 ForeSee Results and Forbes.com Online
Banking Study of 900 consumers, including some
who do and do not use online banking, compare
customer satisfaction at large national banks,
community banks, and credit unions.
• 15% use independent bill payment services
Overall, online bill payers are 7% more satisfied
than consumers who bank online but do not pay
bills online. Online bill payers are also:
• 21% more likely to use the financial institution's
website as their primary channel
• 31% more likely to purchase other services
from the institution, and
• 9% more likely to recommend the financial
institution to others
The more bills you pay online, the happier you
might be with your financial institution.
Satisfaction figures rise for those study
respondents who pay multiple bills online.
• 43% pay online at the service provider's
website (utility or phone company, for
example)

First Home Game is
September 8
Still resisting online banking and bill payment? The
research indicates that security concerns inhibit
some consumers from adopting online financial
services. The truth is, conducting business online
gives you many more opportunities to monitor
your accounts and confirm that all is well. The
study showed that those using online services are
“quite satisfied” with their financial institution‘s
privacy, and are more satisfied than in past
surveys. These customers like the control that
online banking offers:

Our young adult members, ages 18 to 25,
received their first issue of brass magazine in
August. U.S. New Mexico is providing
complimentary copies of brass to our young
adult members as a resource on making,
managing, and multiplying money. So what is
brass?
brass is about young adults, money, and how
it affects your life. A quarterly magazine
published in February, May, August, and
November, brass is made up of content
produced by young writers, photographers,
and graphic designers — just like you. brass
doesn’t talk at you. “We see you eye to eye.”
brass‘ goal is to provide direct, intelligent,
entertaining content to young adults about
the money side of life. From planning your
retirement to throwing cheap parties, brass
looks at your young adult life and how you
handle money.
Like brass, U.S. New Mexico wants to convey
to you the importance of understanding how
money works. For your dreams to come true,
you need to know how money and your life
interact. We
are committed
to helping
you meet
your financial
challenges and
reaching your
dreams.
Thank you for
being a member
of U.S. New Mexico. We hope you enjoy
brass. Visit brass online at usnmfcu.org, then
click on the “Connect to brass” icon.
Relax — Welcome Home
You might not know it from the daily news,
but this is a good time to apply for a
home loan.
The bad news headlines about mortgages
mostly tell about homeowners who made risky
mortgages with other lenders — lenders who
want a loan on the books even if it’s a bad
deal for you.
The Credit Builder will help establish and build
your credit.
We don’t operate that way. You’re a
member, a part owner of the Credit Union.
It’s important to us that you can live with
your loan.
• Credit limit of $300 - $1,000
• 18% APR – Qualify for a reduced rate after one
year of good payment history
Rates are still low and payments can be
manageable. A Credit Union loan officer
can explain your options, so your payment
is one you truly can live with.
To apply, call 342-8888, ext. 52.
Call us today to start your home
loan process.
* Existing credit score and/or derogatory credit
history may affect qualification.
And then relax — welcome home.
No credit history? No problem.
