Serax werd 25 jaar geleden opgericht en stond aan de basis van een (r)evolutie in de bloemistensector. Ontwerpen van nationale en internationale designers zagen het levenslicht
en veranderde deze sector voorgoed. Deze ambitie bepaalt nog steeds het zijn van Serax,
­enkel is het speelveld vergroot. Decoratieobjecten, tablewarelijnen en klein meubilair werden ­toegevoegd aan de collectie. Vandaag geldt Serax als een designplatform waar synergieën tussen nationale en internationale ontwerpers ontstaan. Serax houdt steeds vast aan
de ambitie om haar klanten toegankelijk, kwalitatief en functioneel design aan te bieden.
Fondé voici un quart de siècle, Serax inspira une (r)évolution chez les fleuristes, qui s’ouvrirent par son entremise aux créations de designers belges et étrangers. Cette ambition
demeure le leitmotiv de l’enseigne, mais son champ d’action s’est considérablement accru.
Petit mobilier, textiles de table et articles de décoration ont étoffé la collection, dans le respect de la philosophie de base : offrir un design de qualité et accessible. Aujourd’hui, Serax
assume un rôle de plate-forme design, suscitant des synergies entre concepteurs belges et
étrangers. Plus que jamais, la marque rime avec design fonctionnel, accessibilité et qualité.
Set up 25 years ago, Serax formed the basis of a significant (r)evolution in the floristry sector.
Designs created by Belgian and international designers emerged and changed this sector
forever. This ambition continues to define Serax’s reason for being, except that the playing
field has expanded. Decorative objects, tableware collections and small furniture articles
have been added to the collection, while never losing sight of the core philosophy of accessibility, quality, design. Today, Serax serves as a design platform, where synergies are
created between Belgian and international designers. Serax always retains its ambition of
offering its customers accessible, high-quality and functional design.
Serax è stata fondata 25 anni fa, dando origine a una vera e propria “rivoluzione evolutiva”
nel settore dei fioristi. Videro la luce creazioni di designer nazionali e internazionali, che
cambiarono questo settore in modo permanente. Questo spirito continua a caratterizzare
l’essenza di Serax: da allora, soltanto gli orizzonti si sono allargati. Oggetti di decorazione,
varie linee di articoli per la tavola e piccoli complementi di arredo si sono via via aggiunti
alla collezione, sempre all’insegna della filosofia dell’accessibilità, della qualità e del design.
Oggi Serax è considerata un luogo di incontro dove nascono sinergie tra designer nazionali
e internazionali. Serax si mantiene fedele alla promessa di offrire ai propri clienti un design
accessibile, funzionale e di qualità.

Marie Michielssen ontwerpt sinds lange tijd voor het bedrijf. De huisdesigner haalt haar inspiratie uit het dagdagelijkseleven, ze laat zich vaak leiden door ­verschillende
stimuli die haar inspireren om nieuwe ontwerpen te
maken. Haar impressies vertalen zich in eigenzinnige
ontwerpen zoals theelichtjes, vazen, bloempotten en
canvas tassen die elke collectie steevast in een nieuwe
vorm terugkeren in de nieuwe collectie.
Marie Michielssen est depuis longtemps une créatrice
attitrée de l’entreprise. Elle puise son inspiration de
la vie quotidienne et de divers éléments qui stimulent
son esprit. Ses impressions se traduisent par des objets
très singuliers, comme des bougies chauffe-plats, des
vases, des pots de fleurs et des tasses en toile qui se
retrouvent systématiquement sous une forme différente
dans chaque nouvelle collection.

Marie Michielssen has designed for Serax for many years.
Home designer Marie Michielssen draws her inspiration
from daily life. She lets different stimuli lead and inspire
her to make new designs. Her impressions are translated
into original designs such as tealights, vases, flower pots
and canvass bags which invariably come back in a new
form in every new collection.
La collaborazione tra l’azienda e Marie Michielssen è
oramai di lunga data. La nostra home designer trae la
sua ispirazione dalla vita quotidiana: spesso si lascia
guidare da stimoli diversi, che la ispirano nella creazione di nuovi oggetti. Le sue impressioni si traducono in
creazioni originali come portacandela, vasi, vasi per fiori

In de mode industrie duiken de eerste creaties met
verlooptinten reeds op. Als een van de eerste trekt de
Franse ontwerpster deze nieuwe tendens door met haar
theelichten en vazen in verschillende formaten en gekleurd in zachte verlooptinten. Haar Chinese vazen en
Edison collectie oogstten reeds internationale erkenning en werden wereldwijd uitstekend onthaald.
L’industrie de la mode a dévoilé les premières créations
aux teintes dégradées. La styliste française est l’une des
premières à s’inscrire dans cette lignée avec ses vases et
bougies chauffeplats de formats variés, colorés de tons
dégradés doux. Ses vases chinois et sa collection Edison ont été primés à plusieurs reprises lors de concours
internationaux et accueillis très favorablement dans le
monde entier.
In the fashion industry the first creations with fading colours are already showing up. This French designer is one
of the first to continue this new trend with her tea lights
and vases in different sizes and in soft fading colours.
Her Chinese vases and Edison collection have already
earned her international recognition and have been acclaimed worldwide.
Nel campo della moda le prime tinte sfumate stanno già
facendo la loro comparsa. La designer francese è stata
tra le prime a riprendere questa tendenza elaborandola
nei portacandela e nei vasi, creati in una varietà di forme
e tinte pastello. Grazie alla eccellente accoglienza ricevuta in tutto il mondo, i suoi vasi cinesi e la collezione
Edison si sono già guadagnati il riconoscimento a livello
internazionale.

‘Fire walk with me’ is een vuurmand origineel in vormgeving en opbouw. De mand bestaat uit modulaire ineenschakelbare onderdelen. Deze onderdelen zijn simpel te monteren voor gebruik en te demonteren tot een
flatpack. Zonder vuur staat het object mooi op zichzelf.
In gebruik liggen de houtblokken op of tegen de ringen, tussen de ringen onderling is ruimte, open gelaten,
waardoor het vuur de nodige extra zuurstof krijgt.

“Fire walk with me” est un brasero original dans sa
forme et sa conception. Il se constitue de composants
modulaires imbricables l’un dans l’autre. Ces composants se montent facilement pour le prêt à l’emploi et
se démontent pour s’empaqueter sans volume. Sans
feu, l’objet est beau en lui-même. A l’emploi, les logs
reposent sur ou contre les anneaux, un espace respectif
a été laissé entre ceux-ci, espace par lequel le feu s’alimente en oxygène nécessaire.
‘Fire walk with me’ is a fire basket, original in both design and construction. The basket consists of switchable
modular components. These parts are easy to assemble
and to disassemble back into a flat pack. This easy-tocarry object is beautiful in itself, even without fire. When
used, logs lay on or against the rings, and the space between each ring is open to allow the fire to get enough
oxygen.
“Fire walk with me” è un braciere dalla forma e dalla
struttura originali, costituito da componenti modulari
e assemblabili tra loro. Gli elementi sono semplici da
montare per l’uso: una volta smontati si presentano in
formato “flat pack” (secondo il concetto “Easy-to-Carry”, per facilitare il trasporto). L’oggetto è dotato di una
gradevolissima estetica anche quando non viene impiegato come braciere. Quando viene utilizzato, i ciocchi
di legno si trovano sopra gli anelli o addossati a questi
ultimi; tra un anello e l’altro è stato lasciato uno spazio
aperto che consente al fuoco di alimentarsi con la necessaria quantità aggiuntiva di ossigeno.

Paper Pulp
Door te experimenteren en papier te hergebruiken
heeft de Nederlandse ontwerpster Debbie Wijskamp
haar eigen materiaal gecreëerd met een typische karakteristieke uitstraling, Paper Pulp. De vazen zijn niet enkel
sterk en waterproof maar geven ook een nieuwe richting
aan papier. Verschillende edities werden ondertussen
gecreerd. De oorspronkelijke naturel kleuren werden
ondergedompeld in een bad van felgroen, wit en zwart.
En se lançant dans des expériences, entre autres de
réemploi du papier, la créatrice néerlandaise Debbie
Wijskamp a fini par créer son propre idéal, à l’allure très
caractéristique : PaperPulp. Non seulement solides et
étanches, les vases donnent aussi une nouvelle orientation au papier. Les coloris naturels initiaux des premières
versions ont cette fois laissé place au vert vif, au noir et
au blanc.
By experimenting with and reusing paper, this Dutch
Designer has created her own material with a typical
characteristic look, Paper Pulp. Not only are they strong
and waterproof, they also give the paper a new purpose.
Several editions have already been created. The original ‘naturel’ colours have been submerged in a bath of
bright green, white and black.
La sperimentazione e il riutilizzo della carta hanno consentito alla designer olandese Debbie Wijskamp di creare un materiale speciale, contraddistinto da una tipicità
veramente caratteristica: “Paper Pulp”. I vasi non sono
soltanto resistenti e perfettamente sigillati, ma conferiscono anche una nuova dimensione alla carta. La collezione conta attualmente già varie edizioni: i colorinature
originali si sono tuffati in un mare di bianco, nero e verde
sgargiante.

Het ’52 weeks’ concept vond zijn oorsprong bij een gevonden lichtobject met specifieke eigenschappen: een
bijzondere lamp opgepikt op een antiekmarkt. De doelstelling was om de lamp uiteindelijk te hervormen naar
een reeks hedendaagse sculpturale lichtobjecten.
En wel, 52 stuks: één voor elke week van het jaar.
Les racines du concept ‘52 weeks’ remontent à la découverte, sur une foire aux antiquités, d’une lampe aux
formes surprenantes. Mon objectif consistait à redonner vie à cette lampe ancienne pour aboutir à une série
d’objets lumineux sculpturaux modernes, déclinés en 52
variations, une pour chaque semaine de l’année.
The ’52 weeks’ concept originated in a light object she
found with specific properties: a special lamp picked up
at an antiques market. The amazing shape inspired and
motivated me to study certain qualities in more detail.
The final objective was to redesign the lamp into a series
of contemporary sculptural light objects. 52 objects in
fact: one for every week of the year.
Concrete lamp
Il progetto “52 weeks” ha trovato la sua origine in un
oggetto luminoso con caratteristiche specifiche: una
lampada particolare, acquistata in un mercato dell’antiquariato. L’obiettivo finale era di trasformare la lampada
in una serie di oggetti luminosi scolpiti adatti per l’uso
quotidiano. In 52 esemplari: uno per ciascuna settimana
dell’anno.

De Nederlandse designer, Renate Vos, ontwierp voor
Serax een hanglamp uit beton en siliconenrubber. In tegenstelling tot het strakke uiterlijk, straalt de lamp een
warm licht af. Nieuw in de collectie is de Concrete XL
Lamp. Een echte eye-catcher voor elk type interieur.
La designer néerlandaise Renate Vos a imaginé pour Serax un luminaire suspendu en béton et silicone. Malgré
son allure austère, il diffuse une lumière chaude. Autre
nouveauté de la collection : la lampe Concrete XL. Qui
ne passera certainement pas inaperçue…

made from concrete and silicone rubber for Serax. Despite its sleek appearance, the lamp emits a warm light.
The Concrete XL lamp is new in the collection. A real
eye-catcher for any interior.
La designer olandese Renate Vos ha creato per Serax
una lampada a sospensione in cemento e gomma siliconica. In contrasto con l’impressione di rigidità che
trasmette, la lampada emana una luce calda. Una novità
della collezione è rappresentata dalla lampada in cemento “Concrete XL Lamp”.

Het designersduo Ann Vereecken en Jeroen Worst van
Studio Simple houden van eenvoud. De bijzettafel ‘21th January’ bestaat uit eikenhout en wit gelakt ijzer en
oogt licht en zacht door de afrondingen waardoor het
heel gemakkelijk kan geïntegreerd worden in bestaande interieurs. Bijhorend voor de bijzettafel werd een
krukje - ‘22th January’ ontworpen dat het geheel mooi
completeert. De collectie wordt uitgebreid met enkele
objecten als opbergdozen - ‘14th May’, een houtmand
- ‘5th April’, kandelaar - ‘13th Novembre’ en kapstok ‘16th June’.
Le duo de designers Ann Vereecken et Jeroen Worst
de Studio Simple est féru de simplicité. Leur table d’appoint - ‘21th January’, en chêne et fer blanc laqué, s’intègre aisément à la déco intérieure par ses arrondis laissant une impression de légèreté et de douceur. Elle se
complète merveilleusement d’un petit tabouret - ‘22th
January’. La collection est étendue de quelques objets
comme des boîtes de rangement - ‘14th May’, un panier
en bois - ‘5th April’, le chandelier - ‘13th Novembre’ et le
portemanteau - ‘16th June’.

Antonino was born in Palermo. When he was just eight
years old, he began to forge iron in his father’s studio.
He particularly worked with ‘soft’ iron, which is relatively
pliable and thus easier to work with. For Serax, he has
designed an exclusive collection for a broader market.

corde tressée à la main, sont les premiers articles imaginés par l’artiste et créateur anversois. Nico a volontairement opté pour la corde, qui bouge, s’adapte et procure
systématiquement une excellente assise. Ces articles
existent avec un cadre blanc et bleu.

with handspun rope. Nico deliberately chose rope because it is alive and adapts and is always comfortable to

Door af te wijken van de gebruikelijke regels streeft
Bram Boo, ontwerper van het jaar 2010, ernaar nieuwe
ideeën en emoties te creëren waarbij de nadruk ligt op
functionaliteit en esthetische waarden. Het resultaat
van dit terugkerende thema leidt tot dubbelzinnige
dingen om dagelijkse gewoonten opnieuw te bekijken.
Zijn creaties zijn vaak functioneel verrijkt en bijgevolg
emotioneel verrassend.
En bousculant les règles d’usage, Bram Boo, designer
de l’année 2010, aspire à créer de nouvelles idées et
émotions centrées sur des valeurs fonctionnelles et
esthétiques. Il résulte de cette connexion une vision
ambiguë de nos habitudes quotidiennes. Ses créations
sont souvent enrichies d’un aspect fonctionnel, ce qui
les rend surprenantes émotionnellement.
By disturbing the usual rules, Bram Boo - designer of
the year 2010 - aspires to create new ideas and emotions
with a focus on function and aesthetic values. The
result of this connecting theme leads to ambiguous
things to reconsider daily habits. His creations are
often functionally enriched and therefore emotionally
surprising.

dell’anno 2010- aspira a creare nuove idee ed emozioni
concentrandosi su funzionalità e valori estetici. Il risultato
di questo tema comune porta a riconsiderare oggetti
ambigui come abitudini quotidiane. Le sue creazioni
sono spesso arricchite dal punto di vista funzionale e di
conseguenza emotivamente sorprendenti.

Moniek Vanden Berghe, selecteerde voor Serax maison
d’etre een uitgebreid gamma van rozen, pioenen, lelies, bloesems en andere soorten, in totaal meer dan 80
­verschillende bloemen.

fleurs en soie. L’artiste florale Moniek Vanden Berghe a

As of early 2012, Serax has burst onto the silk flower
scene, expanding its Serax maison d’être collection
with silk flowers. The flower arrangement artist Moniek
­Vanden Berghe has selected an extensive range of roses, peonies, lilies, blossoms and other species for Serax
maison d’etre, totalling over 80 different flowers.

En 1987, les frères Serge et Axel Van den Bossche ont repris l’entreprise de leur mère qui
s’appellerait désormais Serax. Ce qui avait commencé par une série de cache-pots s’est bien
vite transformé en une vaste gamme d’articles de décoration. Au début des années 1990,
Frank Lambert vient renforcer l’équipe de direction et l’entreprise déménage à Kontich.
La collection Serax compte aujourd’hui pas moins de 4 000 objets d’intérieur comprenant
entre autres des services de table élégants et raffinés, des verreries originales, ainsi que
de jolies petites bougies d’ambiance. Serax propose des produits innovateurs et design à

In 1987, brothers Axel and Serge Van den Bossche decided to take over their mother’s business under the name of Serax. What started with a series of flower pots soon grew into
an extensive range of decorative articles. In the early nineties the management team was
strengthened with the arrival of Frank Lambert and the business moved to ­Kontich. Today, the Serax collection includes no less than 4,000 interior objects, ranging from original
glassware to elegant services and tealight candles. Serax stands for innovative and affordable design. The ­business’ ­singleminded view of current trends clearly meets the needs of
florists and i­nterior stores. To guarantee innovation and creativity, Serax works with ­leading
­designers from Belgium and abroad, such as Marie Michielssen, Roel ­Vandebeek, Moniek
Vanden Berghe and Roos van de Velde. Over the years, Serax has become an established

­ andaag telt de collectie van Serax niet minder dan 4000 interieurobjecten, gaande van origineel glaswerk over
­elegante serviezen tot sfeervolle theelichtjes. Serax staat voor vernieuwend en betaalbaar
design.
Het bedrijf speelt met zijn eigenzinnige kijk op de huidige trends duidelijk in op de behoeftes van ­bloemisten en interieurzaken. Om vernieuwing en creativiteit te v­ erzekeren
werkt Serax samen met toonaangevende designers uit binnen- en buitenland, zoals Marie
