viene a salvarlos”. Nos dice Isaías en la Primera Lectura de hoy. Estas palabras de esperanza y ánimo se
cumplen en el Evangelio, donde vemos a Jesús sanando al hombre sordo y mudo. Jesús viene para aquellos que necesitan un
Salvador, para aquellos que son pobres en esprít y buscan ser
ricos en la fe y suyo es el Reino de Dios prometido a todos los
que lo aman” ( como dice el apóstol Santiago en la Segunda
Lectura). Esta semana recordamos los terribles eventos ocurridos el 11 de septiembre del 2001 y también pensamos en las
consecuencias que trae sigue trayendo la Guerra y el terrorismo
a nuestra nación y a otras naciones del mundo. ¡Más que nunca
necesitamos un Salvador como Jesús! Que Él traiga hoy a
nuestros ojos la vista par aver como Él ve, que abra nuestros
oídos para oír las palabras de Consuelo que Dios nos da: paz y
justicia; bondad en nuestros labios y en nuestros corazones, para
poder hablar con la paz y el amor de Dios; que dé movimiento a

of hope and encouragement are fulfilled in the Gospel
where we see Jesus healing the deaf man who had a speech impediment. Jesus comes for those who need a savior, for those who
are poor in spirit and seek “to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that God promised to those who love him” (as St. James tells
us in the Second Reading). This week we remember the terrible
events of September 11th and also think of the war and terrorism
facing our nation and other countries in the world. More than ever
we need a savior like Jesus! May Jesus come to us today with
sight for our eyes to see as he sees; hearing for our ears to hear
God’s words of comfort, peace and justice; kindness in our hearts
and lips so we can speak with the peace and love of God; movement for our crippled legs and lives so we can follow God’s way
always!

New Statues for our new Church: New statues of the Sacred

Heart of Jesus and the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph
will be delivered soon. A statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary is
also being made for our new Church. The statues will be

blessed and installed soon after delivery.

Let us work together to show respect for God’s House and to
keep it clean (no chewing gum, no graffiti, no crayons, etc).
One parent should accompany any child who goes to the rest
room. We have two family rooms for families with children
who are having a difficult time in Church and we ask parents
to take your child to the family room when the child is upset
or making a lot of noise. We appreciate the cooperation of all
in these matters.

News on a new Parish Hall: The Archdiocese of Los Angeles
has given us permission to move ahead with plans for a new
Parish Hall, meeting rooms and parish offices. A final deci
sion to move forward will be made by the Archdiocese when
bids are received from contractors in November. The Arch
diocese has set limits in the budget for this construction.
Construction could begin in December and the old Church
would be demolished at that time.

NUEVAS IMAGENES ( ESTATUAS) PARA LA NUEVA
IGLESIA: Muy pronto serán recibidas estatuas nuevas del
Sagrado Corazón de Jesús y de la Sagrada Familia, de
Jesús, María y José. Se está haciendo también una estatua
de la Santísima Virgen María para la nueva Iglesia. Todas
serán instaladas en cuanto se reciban. Vaos a trabajar juntos
para mostrar amor y respeto por la Casa de Dios y mantenerla limpia ( no masticando chicle, no pintando graffiti, no
dando crayones a los niños, etc.) Un padre debe acompañar
a su hijo al baño. Contamos con dos salones para familias
con niños que tienen problemas para estar callados en la
Iglesia. Les pedimos que vayan allá con ellos para que
puedan estar más tranquilos y el resto de la comunidad
pueda participar plenamente en la Asamblea Eucarística.
Apreciamos su cooperación en estos asuntos.

CHANGES IN THE PARISH STAFF
Donna Perry has served as Head Sacristan at St.
Mary's Church in Palmdale since 2000. She has done an
outstanding job in serving the needs of our parish liturgy
and all who minister at Church in our liturgies and celebrations. We are very grateful to her and pray God’s
blessings on her as she leaves as Head Sacristan and continues as a very active member of our parish. Merrilee
Madrid is now the Head Sacristan and, like Donna, works
very hard to prepare and help the joyful and prayerful
celebration of our parish liturgy.

• PARISH DONATIONS AND EXPENSES
Your donations at Offertory time are very important to
cover the day-to-day operating expenses of the parish at
St. Mary’s in Palmdale and at each of our three parish
missions. Your donations make possible all the worship,
educational and service programs of our parish community. This summer we are facing extra costs and expenses. The electricity bill for July was very high $7,878.00 for one month. The repaving and repair of the
School yard is necessary for the safety of all the children
of St. Mary’s School and of our religious education and
other programs. The cost of the repaving and repair of
the School yard is $38,000.00. We are grateful to St.
Mary’s School PTO for their donation of $7,000.00 toward this project. We continue to rejoice in our new Parish Church but also face additional costs and expenses in
the maintenance of the new Church and landscaping.
Your generous giving to St. Mary’s Parish is important
for the life and growth of our parish community in Christ.
Many thanks for giving to God and to your parish in the

DONATIVOS Y GASTOS PARROQUIALES
Sus donativos en el Ofertorio de la Misa son muy importantes
para cubrir los gastos de operación día- a día en la Parroquia
Santa María en Palmdale y de cada una de las tres Misiones Parroquiales. Sus ofrendas hacen posible el mantenimiento de los
programas parroquial deadoración, educación y de servicio a la
comunidad. Este verano estamos enfrentando costos y gastos que
antes no teníamos en esta escala. El mes de Julio pagamos $ 7,
878 dólares de electricidad, para un solo mes. La repavimentación del patio de la Escuela Santa María es necesaria
para la seguridad de los niños, tanto que asisten a la escuela como
a nuestros programas de Educación Religiosa y otros programas
parroqiales. El costo de la repavimentación es de $ 38,000.00.
Estamos muy agradecidos con Organización de Padres y Maestros de la Escuela, quienes han aportado la cantidad de $ 7,000
dólares para proyecto.regocijándonos en nuestra nueva Iglesia de
Santa María en Palmdale, por lo que les invitamos a ayudar para
mantenerla limpia. Al mismo tiempo enfrentamos gastos adicionales en el mantenimiento de nuestra areas de jardinería . Sus generosos regalos son muy necesarios para la vida y crecimiento de

Hello! I can not begin to explain how grateful
I am for the warm welcome I have received
from this wonderful Parish. I am extremely
excited to be joining the amazing team here
and eager to work with the teens in producing a
strong and successful Youth Ministry. I left the
Central Coast, my family, a history of Youth Ministry successes and teaching Confirmation behind me somewhere
between the 101 and the 14. Now I have picked up a life
changing experience of accepting my new family here at
this Parish, a Youth Ministry history in the making, and
not just one Confirmation class to coordinate, but a whole
Program. I am blessed beyond reasoning and I do not attempt to find out why nor how, I just take it, pray on it, and
follow where ever the good Lord sets me forth. Please feel
free to contact or visit me anytime, teens and parents, so
the building of this Youth Ministry can begin.

Center has a place for you! We need willing and able volunteers to
help make a difference in the life of a woman facing a crisis pregnancy.

September 17th is Catechetical Sunday 2006. All Catechist will be commissioned during the 8:30 AM Mass, Catechist at
the Missions will be commissioned in your own Mission, and Spanish speaking Catechist will be commissioned on September 16th at the 7:30 PM Mass.
Classes for Palmdale will start the week of September 18, 2006. Parents please check the letter that was given at
Registration time for information on Day and time assigned for your child/dren. A Parent Orientation will be held
the first day of classes in the Parish Hall for Palmdale students
Classes for Littlerock will start on September 20, 2006. Spanish Classes at 4:00 to 5:15 P.M. and English classes at
5:40 to 6:50 P.M.
Lake L.A. & Acton Missions will start Sunday 24th right after the 8:30 Sunday Mass. A parent orientation will be
held the first day of classes.
Virtus: “Safe Guard God’s Children” workshop will be held September 28th from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. for all R.E., Confirmation
and School Teachers and Assistants that have not attended the training.. This workshop is also offered to any member of a
