Raiffeisen has been present in the Polish market since the founding of Raiffeisen Bank Polska S.A. in 1991. The
number of bank customers came to about 246,000 at the end of 2011, the lending volume amounted to € 5.3
billion, and deposits stood at € 4.4 billion. In addition to serving corporate customers and small and mediumsized enterprises, Raiffeisen Bank Polska also focuses on affluent customers.
Raiffeisen Group in Poland maintains leading positions in the areas of factoring and leasing. In factoring, the
bank continues to be the country’s no 1 with more than 20 per cent market share and a turnover of € 3.5 billion. Its leasing subsidiary was the second-largest provider in this business area.
In April 2012, RBI closed the acquisition of a 70 per cent share in Polbank. With its clear focus on retail banking, Polbank is an ideal complement to Raiffeisen Bank Polska. The legal merger of Raiffeisen Bank Polska and
Polbank (scheduled to take place within one year after the closing) will create Poland’s sixth largest bank by
customer loans. The merged bank, Raiffeisen Polbank, will service more than 900,000 customers through a
network of approximately 430 branches in 150 cities.
