The space in this month’s Caller which is normally dedicated
to an article written by Pastor Jim is being utilized for a very
exciting new ministry at Cornwall Church. Mark Schappell is
leading this ministry and has written the article. Please read
carefully and pray how you can become involved.
Community Outreach
A new mission set to begin this November, called Community Outreach,
will involve specially-trained church members reaching out to the community in
neighborhoods surrounding Cornwall United Methodist Church, in an attempt
to locate needy individuals and families. This may involve simply checking on
a neighbor who is struggling. In some cases, special services will be offered to
those individuals and families to help them cope with the daily struggles we all
face, but which can become overwhelming to some. Perhaps by assisting
someone in need, that individual and their family can witness the grace of God
in their lives through the kind acts of a neighbor. I think the Community
Outreach Program will benefit both identified individuals and their families and
CUMC. as well. Missions are not always overseas and in economicallychallenged areas but right here in Cornwall and the surrounding communities.
The program is set to kick off on November 9, 2014 when I will speak to
all three services about the mission program. Thereafter, on November 17,
2014 at 7:00 PM in the chapel, a more detailed presentation will be offered to
interested individuals or those simply looking for additional details.
Refreshments will be provided. There is absolutely no obligation to participate
in the program by attending on November 17th. Come out, enjoy a snack, and
learn a little more about this new mission at CUMC.
How often have we seen someone in our own neighborhood struggling?
Wouldn’t it be great to be able to help someone in their time of need? “Truly I
tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of
mine, you did for me.”
New Teachers
We are pleased that Alicia Krzyzanowski and Laura Ramage have accepted positions as regular
teachers in our Kids Worship program. Alicia is teaching our pre-school class. She is an Early
Childhood Development major at HACC. Laura is a junior at LVC and is also majoring in early
childhood education. Having them on staff gives continuity for our children. Welcome them when you
see them.

November Mission of the Month
Lucas and Limi Ndaro

It seems hardly possible but the Ndaro family has been here with us for nine months.
Much has transpired in those nine months and the future is still unfolding.
Limi has finished a semester and a summer course in Marriage and Family Therapy and is doing well.
She is doing her practical training as well by seeing clients at the counseling center in Myerstown.
Lucas has taken a real interest in the Adult Ministry Program by visiting and evaluating the active
small groups throughout the church. He has some great ideas how to grow and improve this vital
ministry. He also has taken the lead in establishing our new seniors XYZ (Extra Years of Zest) group
which is still in the formative stages but with more programs in the pipeline. He also has been teaching a
seven week course at Evangelical Seminary this fall on Tuesday nights which is a blessing. Unfortunately, we were assured that he would be able to teach a full course each semester. As a result his income
from teaching will be almost $5,000 less than projected this year. The good news is that Lucas will be
teaching two full credit courses in the spring semester for Dr. Buckwalter who is on sabbatical. He will
also be on schedule for teaching a summer course next year and possibly a church leadership course as
well.
Joseph was accepted at Messiah College and is attending classes there now. He was given a
very attractive package of scholarships and campus work programs valued at about $24,000 but the
tuition will still be a significant challenge even with him commuting to school. Peter has done very well at
New Covenant Christian School and is one of the stars of their winning soccer program. He also is
applying to Messiah for next fall. Hopefully he will also receive a significant scholarship.
LJ and Sophie are attending Cornwall Elementary and doing fine in school.
The biggest issue for our mission support now is school costs that will come due before Lucas’
new teaching schedule starts. When Lucas and Limi attended Evangelical before, their school costs were
completely covered by an international scholarship. When Limi was applying from Tanzania, Evangelical
still had that program. By the time they got here, that program had been cancelled but they were able to
give her the Anne Ladd scholarship money and indeed her first semester costs were only $800. Her
summer course was not covered by scholarship at all and this semester’s classes are only partially
covered. The good news is that Evangelical is allocating an additional $2,000 in scholarship money for
Limi this spring. What we face now is unpaid current costs for Limi and upcoming costs for Joseph. If
you would like to help the Ndaros with these short term needs, please put a check in your offering

Thanksgiving Eve Service
We will once again join with our friends at Cornwall Manor for the Thanksgiving Eve Service. Join us for
worship at Zerr Chapel, on the campus of Cornwall Manor at 7:00 PM. Pastor Jim will give the message.
Annual Stewardship Campaign
Our annual stewardship campaign will continue through the month of November, ending on Sunday,
November 23rd, which is Commitment Sunday. The series, entitled “Building on the Foundation” will
include messages that help us connect with people who have served God in the past at Cornwall Church
and to encourage us to serve God in new ways in the time in which we live. In addition, individual
devotional and group Bible study materials will be developed. This will enable each of us to be growing
and learning together.

Lebanon County Christian Ministries (LCCM)
Just a reminder:
Lebanon County Christian Ministries Annual Benefit Dinner is coming closer.
This year's entertainment is provided by John and Laura Shuey, Lebanon Idol winners. All proceeds go to
LCCM to help provide food, shelter, clothing and other emergency services. It is an evening of fun and
fellowship for the whole family.

The Box City event this year held on August 8th and 9th was a great success. The event raised $5,500.00;
the proceeds support LCCM's collaborative effort with Jubilee Ministries in providing emergency shelter
and support services to families and individuals in need. The 2015 Box City event will be held on August
7th and 8th.
Children’s Ministry News

We are looking for volunteers for a float we will be entering in our local parade in November.
Children are welcome to attend as well as adults! If you are interested, please contact

Our next Children & Youth Committee meeting will meet Monday, November 3 at 6:30 PM in
the Youth Room. Typically our committee meets the first Monday of each month. This committee is
designed to support the children and youth of our church. We would love to see you at a
meeting and welcome your support and ideas.
Kids Worship Update
We’ve had a great kick off to our new season! In KW123 the children are loving learning
about all the great things missionaries do and all that is involved. KWPre is learning to
associate each letter of the alphabet with a Biblical theme. An example is “D is for
Daniel”. As well, they learn memory verses, songs, and crafts.
The children practice in Kids Choir after Kids Worship. Make sure to attend the 2nd
Sunday of the month to see all the hard work as they perform.

Groceries Give Back
With the holidays fast approaching, remember your grocery card for Musser’s, Giant or
Weis when you are shopping for your Thanksgiving holiday meal or a Sheetz card to fill up
with when you’re traveling. Don’t forget that your Giant card can also be used for your gas
purchases. Sales are still steady and we have sold $281,925.00, earned $12,487.75 and
have distributed $11,800 to date for missions. Your purchase of grocery and gas cards
each week make this all possible. Please stop by the Groceries Give Back table on
Sunday or stop by the church office Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM.

Sheetz Coupon Books - Hungry for a Deal?
Don’t forget about the Sheetz coupon books we have at the Groceries Give Back table. They are
perfect to keep in the glove box of your vehicle for when you’re hungry and Sheetz is right around the
corner! Stop by the table on Sunday mornings or the church office Monday through Friday from
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Each book has 12 coupons and is valued at over $25. These coupons can be
used at any of the over 365 Sheetz locations and they have an expiration date of 8/31/2015. The cost
of each coupon book is only $10.00. The profits from each book sold will benefit the Heart and Hand

Habitat For Humanity of Lebanon County Annual Praise Concert
The Cornwall United Methodist Church will be hosting this year’s Habitat for Humanity Annual Praise
Concert on November 8, 2014 at 7:00 PM. Musical guests will include Jessica Weidman, Habitat
Guitar Choir "He Is Savior", LVC Praise Band and the Cornwall UMC Praise Band. Bring your family,
friends and neighbors for a "Spirit-filled night of praise" which will include a freewill offering to benefit

Annual Cornwall UMC Cookie Walk Back Again!
Last year’s Cookie Walk was a big hit again. So, ladies (and gentlemen) ready,
set, bake! It’s not too early to start thinking about your favorite Christmas cookie
recipe to make for the Cornwall UMC Cookie Walk. Please join us on Saturday,
December 13, 2014 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM or until we’re sold out. Come take a
stroll around tables piled high with cookies that you can mix and match to give as
a gift, take to a gathering or enjoy for yourself during the holidays. You will receive a container(s) and
a plastic glove and can choose cookies by walking along the tables. Your boxes are then weighed
and you can proceed to the checkout. We need a wide variety of home-baked cookies and we can’t
do this without you! Not a baker? We also need three (3) cookie weighers, three (3) cashiers and
three (3) cookie runners for each shift from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. If you
would like to donate cookies, serve as a cookie weigher, cashier or cookie runner please drop us an

Do You Like To Decorate?
It will soon be time to decorate our church for Christmas. Would you enjoy
helping? We like to include lots of people in this project so that it’s not too
overwhelming for anyone. There are a wide variety of tasks, ranging from large
to small, and you can either work in a group or on your own. We prefer to get
most of the decorating done the week of Thanksgiving but the final deadline
isn't until Saturday, December 7.
We also need a few strong backs to carry the Christmas trees over from the
parsonage on Sunday, November 24.

Silent Night
Singers of all abilities and ages are invited to join us for this year’s Christmas cantata, "Silent Night".
The cantata will be performed on Sunday, December 14th at 3:30 PM at Cornwall Manor and on Sunday,
December 21st during the 10:30 AM service at our church.
You do not need to attend all the practices or even both performances to sing.
Practice CDs will be available for each voice part. If
transportation is a problem, please let us know and

Second Sunday Social
If you would like to learn more about the opportunities Cornwall Church offers
for you to get connected, you’ll have the chance to do that at our next Second
Sunday Social on November 9. We will share a light lunch in the Youth
Room café on the lower level of the original building from 11:45 to 12:45.
We’re also planning some activities for the kids while their parents chat.
This get-together is designed for anyone who wants to find ways to become
more involved in the life of our church. Perhaps you have attended for awhile
but feel like you are still on the periphery, or maybe you’ve been somewhat
active but now are curious about some of the things you’ve not yet tried, such
as a small group or different type of ministry. You will be assigned to a table
with a few others and a “host” who can answer your questions and help you explore how to find your niche.
It’s very important for us to know who is coming so that we can plan the groups and have enough table
hosts available. So to reserve a spot, pick up a form on the table opposite the elevator or contact Linda

Harvest Home
The annual Harvest Home event will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2014 from
7:30 AM – 1:30 PM. This year, we will be offering advance order, homemade foods for
your Thanksgiving dinner. Items will include potato filling, cranberry relish, applesauce,
pumpkin rolls, cranberry and pumpkin breads. Order forms will be available on the
church website, church bulletin and in the foyer.
Our crafters will be bringing handmade soaps, brooms, wood items, baby items,
American Girl style clothes, personalized crafts and much more. Some of the vendors will include Rockwood
Soy Candles, Jamberry Nail Wraps, Pampered Chef, Mary Kay, Tastefully Simple, Scentsy and Mialisia
Jewelry. This year we also will feature handmade candy from our youth group and a table with crafts from
church members. If interested in donating a craft item, please contact Redith Snoberger at 272-6846.
We’ll be serving breakfast from 7:30 AM—10:30 AM and lunch from 11:00 AM—1:30 PM.
Can’t help out that day? We could use your donation of baked goods for the bake sale table!
Please start your fall housecleaning, as White Elephant sale organizers Cathy Cox, Pat Yorty and Carole Fay
will be organizing the sale this year.
