FIRST OMAGH PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH SUNDAY 9th NOVEMBER 2014 This Morning: Morning Worship will include the customary ‘Act of Remembrance’. There will be a Retiring Collection in aid of the Earl Haig Fund. This Week: TUESDAY @ 8.00 pm ~ PW Visitors' Night in the Rowan Hall. Guest Speaker will be Mrs. Catherine Campbell who is involved in ministry to women through speaking, writing and pastoral situations. Catherine has written a number of books - copies will be available for sale on the evening. Members are requested to arrive early to help with setting up. An invitation is extended to all ladies in the congregation. Also, members are reminded about South Belfast Friendship House 2014 Christmas Appeal - unwrapped gifts of men's or ladies' toiletries can be brought along to this meeting. WEDNESDAY @ 10.30 am (till noon) ~ Coffee Stop (Rowan Hall). WEDNESDAY @ 7.30 pm ~ Kirk Session Meeting in the Committee Room. THURSDAY @ 7.30 pm ~ E100 Bible Discussion (Lecture Hall). Week 8: The Fall of Israel. This week’s readings ~ 2 Samuel c11v1 - c12v25; 1 Kings c2 & c3; 1 Kings c8v1 - c9v9; 1 Kings c16v29 - c19v18; 2 Kings c25. All other organisations will meet as usual. Prayer Points for the Week: India ~ Give thanks, that despite anti-conversion laws, the church in the Gujurat diocese is a vibrant and growing Church. Pray that they will continue to see more people coming to faith in Christ and pray for wisdom and guidance for the church leaders. Farmer’s Mission ~ Pray that the Farmer’s Mission taking place at Ballymena Livestock Market (14th-16th November) will be a great opportunity for the gospel to flourish and pray for Tom Saunderson as he speaks each evening. Sunday School Teachers ~ Continue to remember Helena Porter and the Sunday School and Bible Class Teachers as they teach our children and young people week by week. Pray also that the children will not only enjoy their lessons but will grow in faith and understanding of the God who loves and cares for them all. Tyrone County Hospital ~ Give thanks that the Sunday Next - Special Psalm Service: Please speak to Jane TODAY if you have a favourite decision concerning cuts to services in the County Psalm or Psalm tune that you would like included in the Hospital has been put on hold and pray that this will be a permanent decision. Pray also for all the staff in the Service next Sunday. County who have had a very stressful and anxious Leprosy Mission: week, especially for Dr. Robinson and Dr. Khwaja and Annual subscriptions to this very worthy cause will be the Sisters in charge of all the Units. gratefully received by the secretary, Eileen Hammond. Christian Vision for Men - Ulster Rugby Event: Tuesday 18th November @ 7.00 pm in the Millennium Forum, Londonderry. Speakers will be Paul Marshall, Louis Ludik, Wiehahn Herbst & Franco Van Der Merwe who will talk all things rugby and share their life changing stories. If any men from the congregation are interested in attending this event please contact Hubert Hamill on 8224 2469 by NEXT SUNDAY. African Children’s Choir: Tickets for our special concert featuring the African Children’s Choir are selling very well. The event will take place on Saturday 6th December at 7.30 pm (see poster overleaf). Tickets are still available from any of the Elders. Help is also required with arrangements on the night of the concert for ushering, collection, parking, book and CD sales etc etc. If you are able to help in any way please speak to David Vance immediately. Ulster Project 2015: Application forms for young people wishing to participate in next year’s Ulster Project are now available. Forms may be obtained from Jane and should be returned to her no later than Sunday 30th November. The Ulster Project involves regular group activities on a cross-community basis during the period January to June. These activities are in preparation for a month-long group visit to the United States of America in July, during which participants are hosted by American families and experience an exciting and varied daily programme. To be eligible for next year’s Project, an applicant’s 15th birthday should normally fall within the 2015 calendar year. Minister ~ Rev. J. Hagan • T: 07970 022253 • E: [email protected] ‘Building Blocks’ Children’s Ministry Conference: Saturday 15th November in Assembly Buildings, Belfast ~ This conference is for all those working with children in their local church, community or school. Lucy Moore will be the keynote speaker for Building Blocks in 2014. Lucy is the founder of Messy Church and works for Bible Reading Fellowship (BRF) as Messy Church Team Leader. She is responsible for developing the work of Messy Church nationally and internationally – writing, speaking, reflecting and developing Messy Church projects. There will be an opportunity for delegates to attend two of the wide choice of seminars on offer. Sunday School Teachers, Children’s Church Leaders, Kids’ Club Leaders and Ministers are sure to benefit from what the conferences have to offer.
