ARE YOU A MANDATED REPORTER?
As part of our Catholic commitment to safe
environments, the Archdiocese recently updated its
policies and training curriculum for mandated reporters
of child abuse and neglect. These new policies reflect
the Church’s commitment to always do more, as well as
new Pennsylvania laws that go into effect on December
31, 2014. If you have direct contact with children, you
may be mandated reporter. Joann Rose is our Safe
Environment Coordinator and will be working with our
parish in coming weeks to educate mandated reporters
about their responsibilities and how to properly report
child abuse to ChildLine, PA’s 24-hour child abuse
reporting hotline. In the meantime, Joann can be
reached at 215-295-3045 with any questions. Information
is also available at www.childyouthprotection.org.
As we continue to do all we can to keep our children
safe, also know that the Office for Child and Youth
Protection provided services, resources and support
toward healing for victims and survivors of child sexual
abuse and their families. Victim services can be reached
at 1-888-800-8780 or via email at
[email protected].
AMBASSADORS NEEDED!
The Cathedral Basilica of Saints
Peter and Paul conducts an
evangelization ministry with Cathedral Ambassadors.
This enthusiastic group of trained Ambassadors staffs
the Basilica every day of the week and is comprised of
volunteer parishioners from all over the Archdiocese.
They answer questions, offer assistance and give tours.
Cathedral Ambassadors provide a personal presence in
the Basilica; they put a face on the Church. Cathedral
Ambassadors are assigned 4 hours shifts. The schedule
is flexible – one day or more a month. They are provided
training and materials to support their evangelization
ministry.
Learn more about our Cathedral Basilica at
www.cathedralphila.org. For more information on the
Ambassador Program and/or to become an
Ambassador, please contact Nick or Louise Pascale,
coordinators of the Program at
[email protected].
Host Families needed for
2015 World Meeting of Families
Dar Friends:
So many people have asked, “How can I help with the
World Meeting of Families – Philadelphia 2015?” We
have one way!
We expect thousands and thousands of visitors from
around the U.S. and the world to join us next
September and there is now a host family program to
supplement the hotel rooms in the region. We need
host families!
Homestay, a Dublin company, works every day to
match host families with visitors with an online
system and they created a special online host family
site just for WMOF 2015. Parishioners, school
families, and other area residents can easily sign up
online to be host families. Hosts list specific
accommodations they can offer, household rules, and
language preferences on the web site and visitors
search for a match.
Please help us share this opportunity and spread the
word about hosting a family by directing people to the
website, http://www.worldmeeting2015.org/getinvolved/host-a-family/.
Thank you, Donna Farrell, Executive Director of the
2015 World Meeting of Families
MOTHER BONIFACE SPIRITUALITY
CENTER, 3501 Solly Avenue in Northeast
Philadelphia is offering a YOUNG ADULT
EVENT entitled “I’m Single and I Know It – What
Now?” on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 from 7:00 –
9:00PM. In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus asks, “Have
you not read that from the beginning the Creator “made
them male and female…for this reason a man shall
leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife,
and the two shall become one flesh”. If that is the case,
then why are many of us single? What is God asking of
us in our current single state? What can we do to ensue
that we are following God’s will in this day and age?
Come join fellow young adults at this evening event and
dig into the meaning of living the single vocation in
relation to God’s divine plan for us.
Presenter: Carolina Soares, M.A., Team Member: Youth

MEMORIAL BOOKPLATES
Our 2015 Hymnals have arrived. If you would
like to donate $5 for a Memorial Bookplate
again, please fill in the form below. Last year,
your donations covered the cost of the entire
music program. Thank you.
If every worshiper donated one booklet the
entire cost of our worship program would be
covered. If those who can donate more than
one booklet would do so, the extra money
would help defray the cost of music for our
choirs and musicians.
MOTHER BONIFACE SPIRITUALITY
CENTER, 3051 Solly Avenue in Northeast
Philadelphia is offering a weekend retreat
entitled “Beauty, A Path to God” on
January 23-25, 2015. This retreat is an invitation to
embrace a spirituality of beauty. Grounded in the
foundational writings of Hans Urs von Balthasar, it
explores the ability to introduce components of prayer,
joy and spirituality into our lives today. We will focus on
the beauty inherent in appreciating the present moment,
the beauty associated with forgiveness and the beauty
that comes from gratitude. We will also explore darkness
as a path to beauty, understanding that great beauty
often has its origins in times of spiritual or emotional
darkness.
Presenter: Fr. Anthony Ciorra serves as Assistant Vice
President for Mission and Catholic Identity at Fairfield
University in Connecticut. He has vast experience in
teaching, retreat work, preaching and formation
ministries. Fee: $160 (includes a $40 non-refundable
deposit)
For further information, or to register, please call 267350-1830 or 267-350-1831 at least 10 days prior to this
