All candidates hold a bachelor’s, a lot of them hold a master’s. b. All teachers are English proficient and tested by ISBE. c. Content Areas Teachers hold a master’s degree and also hold a CAP (Graduate Program in Teaching and Pedagogy). d. All teachers receive an International Visiting Teacher License with the anticipated endorsements e. All teachers from Spain receive a Highly Qualified status for the grade/area for which they are certified in Spain. School Districts are the teachers’ employment sponsor. 3. Teachers have to inform Education Advisor and Responsible Officer of their address upon their immediate arrival (72 hours). 4. After the teachers have been in the U.S. for seven days, they can apply for their Social Security Number. 5. Teachers receive their IEIN number when they apply for their International Visiting Teacher Certificate. 6. A copy of the teachers’ contracts will be required in August/early September to keep in file. 7. Visiting Teachers pay Federal and State Taxes. 8. J-1 Visa Holders are required to have Insurance Coverage: o o o Employee Health Insurance (min. $50,000 benefit per accident/illness) Medical evacuation (min. $10,000 coverage) Repatriation of remains (minimum of $7,500 coverage) 9. Teachers recruited in 2015 will start contributing to FICA in January 2017. 10. International Visiting Teachers in Illinois do not contribute to TRS since the program is a cultural exchange and these teachers are not going to retire in Illinois or the United States. ANNUAL REPORT 1. If your district participated in the program in school year 2014-15, Annual Reports are due March 5, 2015. 2.
