Our Catholic Appeal 2014
Please remember that our parish goal is $336,601. We
have collected $321,395 which is 95.5% of our goal. We
have 1,279 family participation which is 52.8% of our
goal. Please consider contributing. Please note, there is
a lag in updates from the Diocese. Once we have
achieved our goal, the majority of additional funds will be
returned to our parish to support our own local needs. This
year, we will commit our parish over-goal dollars to the
building fund.
What is the Building
Fund?
Donations received in the second
collection,
“Building
Fund,” are used to support the
new church and furnishings,
the expansion as well as the
future building needs and renovations for our parish including
but not limited to updating the
infrastructure of the existing
church and parking.
Many thanks to those who
regularly support the
St. Vincent de Paul Building
Fund.
Parking Lot Paving - our building fund monies at work.

help accommodate the reduced parking during the parking lot paving. Please review the
diagram below. We are asking everyone to
enter at the North side, and everyone exit at
the South side of the property. Please always
follow the deputies’ instructions.
Please consider attending
the 2:00 PM Mass.
Thank you for
your patience.

Titles of Our Blessed Mother
Did you know that Our Lady is a common title given to the
Blessed Virgin Mary? It usually followed by some special
designation associated with a place, a devotion, or some
service rendered by her. One such event in the 17th century,
had two Spanish friars traveling to Rome to ask the Pope to
approve their new order. During a storm on the way, they
took shelter in a cave where they found a statue of Our Lady
holding the baby Jesus in her arms. After no one claimed it
they took it with them hoping the Blessed Mother would
help them get approval for their order. Pope Paul V was so
impressed with their story, he approved their order, blessed
the statue and christened it “Our Lady of Good Success”.
Here at St. Vincent de Paul we have several statues of Our
Lady. One in the new church and there are several in what is
now the parish hall. Our Lady of Good Success, Our Lady
of Guadalupe, and the Madonna Della Strada are located in
the social hall. The statue in the church is also a larger statue of the Madonna Della Strada.
January 22 is the Day of Prayer for the Protection of Unborn
Children. Please pray this prayer for those children:
Father we thank you for your marvelous gift;
you have allowed us to share in your
divine parenthood.
During this time of waiting,
we ask you to protect and nurture
these first mysterious stirrings of life.
May our child come safely into the light of the world
and to the new birth of baptism.
Mother of God, we entrust our child to your
loving heart. Amen.
“The WORD among us” for February

OUTREACH AND FOOD PANTRY
We are grateful for our volunteers donating their time and
expertise at the pantry, Outreach, and Our Mother's Attic,
as well as parishioners and groups who donate to our parish charities. Your time, donations, and compassion assist the poor and hungry who come to us for help.
Our offices and pantry are located at San Pedro Maldonado Mission Church in downtown Wildwood. This location is good for people who can walk from their neighborhood to seek help. It is also near the Presbyterian
Church, the location of the Wildwood Soup Kitchen. The
office is open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 10am.
for clients seeking help with their finances. Personal assistance volunteers need the time with clients to discuss
the problems, seek solutions, and provide financial assistance once a year, if necessary. Appointments are provided for each client.
The pantry distributes food the second and fourth Friday
of the month at 10 am. Clients are interviewed for their
needs prior to their receiving food. Many volunteers
work at various jobs to get the food to where it is needed. Food is brought to the church, sorted, shelved, and
inventoried. Often, food needs to be purchased prior to
distribution.
There is a need for our pantry in the area. Volunteers
as well as parishioners try to
follow the example of
Christ, St. Vincent de Paul,
and Mother Teresa when
working with disenfranchised people in our area. "We are the hands of
Christ reach out to those in
need; go make a difference
in this world."
Food Pantry Requests items include the following; beef stew, canned fruits & vegetables,
jelly, potato (boxed or canned), powdered milk,
tomato sauce or diced tomato, tuna and chicken
“helper”, crackers and cookies. Laundry detergent, soap, and paper products are also appreciated. Please remember that out of date and opened
food cannot be distributed.

Ocala. We will be praying to help mothers
who are contemplating abortion to make the
right decision.
Each Saturday at 10:00 a.m. a group of Prayer Warriors gather to pray in front of the clinic.
The St. Vincent de Paul parish will be represented on
the 2nd Saturday of each month. We will be leaving

Come Pray for our Troops at Veterans Park
A prayer group for our troops meets every Thursday at
8:00 a.m. at Veterans' Memorial Park in Spanish
Springs. The group has been meeting for 8 years, and
the main purpose is so the people don't forget our soldiers. The names of any soldiers who have lost their
life in the past week are read. Then a list is read of approximately 150 men and women who are now overseas and at home. Then the group says prayers for the
safety of the soldiers and their families. At the end, we
sing a patriotic song.
