MARRIAGE
Arrangements should be made with a priest as

MINISTRY TO THE SICK
In the event of serious illness or when
someone is hospitalized, the parish office
should be notified. The Eucharist and the Sacrament of the
Sick will be celebrated with anyone requesting them.
Remember, the Hospital cannot notify us on their own.
YOUTH MINISTRY
The Youth Mass is at 9:30 AM on Sundays and “Get-A-Grip,”
grades 7-12, meets for Liturgy of the Word during the Mass
on the first Sunday of the month. Youth in grades 9-12 meet
at scheduled intervals.

CHOIR
STEWARDSHIP AND TITHING
We are fortunate enough to have a Parish Choir that has a full
multi-lingual repertoire, as well as a Junior Choir . The Choir
rehearses on Thursday at 7:30 PM, and the Junior Choir on
Wednesday at 7:40 PM., following Religious Education Class.
Instrumentalists are welcomed, either to play solo or with our
choir. A parish orchestra made up of children and adults
rehearses and performs several times during the year. For
more information, or to volunteer, please call John or Martha
Nowik after Mass or at the Parish Office.
Stewardship calls us to freely give of our time, talent, and
treasure for the good of our parish family and community.
God gives us everything! I give Him back my tithe. Tithing
is God’s plan to support His Church. Full tithing means 10%
of gross income to God – 5% for your parish church and 5 %
for other charities.

FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
First Reading: Deuteronomy 18:15-20
Moses explains to the people that a prophet will come from
among them, and that they should listen to this prophet’s
words, for God has told him of this prophet. God also tells
Moses that anyone who pretends to speak in his words, or
speaks in the name of other gods shall die.
Second Reading: I Corinthians 7:32-35
Paul tells the Corinthians how an unmarried man or woman
is able to devote themselves fully to God without concern
for the needs of a spouse. Paul explains that God wants to
help them promote good and devote themselves more fully
to God.
Gospel: Mark 1:21-28
As Jesus was teaching, a man with an unclean spirit came
to the synagogue and asked if Jesus had come to destroy
them. Jesus ordered the spirit out of the man, who
shrieked violently as the spirit departed. The people were
amazed at the authority he had over the spirit.

Udzielany jest we wszystkie niedziele roku. Rodzice wraz

Duszpasterstwo chorych
Prosimy o powiadamianie parafii o tych, którzy z powodu wieku czy
choroby - na stałe czy czasowo - skazani są na pobyt w domu, lub w
szpitalu i nie mogą uczestniczyć w liturgii Mszy Świętej w kościele.

04 Niedziela Zwykła w ciągu Roku Liturgicznego
Można spotkać się z twierdzeniem: ważniejsze jest
wypełnienie nakazów Chrystusa, niż dyskutowanie na temat:
Kim On jest? W takim stwierdzeniu zawarta jest tylko połowa
prawdy.
Nauka Jezusa zobowiązuje mnie właśni dlatego, że Jezus nie
jest byle kim, jest więcej niż prorokiem lub mędrcem, filozofem
czy filantropem.
Szatani drżą przed Jezusem, bo – chociaż miotani nienawiścią
i złym sumieniem – wiedzą, kim On jest: „Święty Boży”. W
wydarzeniu z dzisiejszej Ewangelii mówi i działa sam Bóg. Ta
„nowa nauka z mocą” nie tylko godna jest naszego podziwu,
ona jest w stanie zbawić nas.

Uroczystość Ofiarowania Pańskiego
(Święto Matki Bożej Gromnicznej)
Święto Ofiarowania Pańskiego wiele mówi o Świętej Rodzinie. Mimo
przeznaczenia Jezusa do założenia Kościoła i stworzenia nowego
kultu - Jego rodzice są wierni żydowskiej tradycji. Tak naprawdę nie
tradycja jest najważniejsza, ale stosunek do Boga. Józef i Maryja przez
swoje posłuszeństwo wyrażają zaufanie do Boga, wypełniając Jego
przykazania. Nie jest to święto obowiązkowe.
03 lutego - Wtorek
Wspomnienie św. Błażeja, biskupa i męczennika
Był Biskupem Sebasty (Turcja); zginął za czasów cesarza Dioklecjana.
W więzieniu podobno wyleczył chłopca, który połknął ość, dlatego
uważany jest za patrona osób chorych na gardło.
04 lutego – Środa
Wspomnienie św. Joanny de Valois
Królowa francuska, którą pozbawiono tronu. Założyła Zgromadzenie
Sióstr Annuncjatek.
05 lutego - Czwartek
Wspomnienie św. Agaty, dziewicy i męczennicy
Została zamęczona na Sycylii ok. 250 r. Jest patronką pielęgniarek, a
także ma chronić przed pożarami i chorobami piersi. W dniu św. Agaty
święci się chleb i wodę.
06 lutego - Piątek
Wspomnienie Świętych Męczenników: Pawła Miki i Towarzyszy
Był jednym z pierwszych Japończyków, którzy przyjęli katolicyzm.
Zginął w Nagasaki razem z 25 innymi męczennikami. Było to w 1597 r.

Pierwsza Spowiedź i Komunia Święta
Przygotowanie do pierwszej spowiedzi odbywać się będzie w
niedziele: 25 stycznia, 1, 8 i 24 lutego po mszy świętej o godz.
9:30 do godz. 12:00 w południe. Pierwszą spowiedź odbędą
dzieci w sobotę, 28 lutego o godz. 12:00 w południe.
W środę, 4 lutego, w czasie lekcji religii spotkanie
z Ks. Krzysztofem rodziców dzieci, które przystępować będą do
pierwszej komunii świętej na polskiej mszy świętej.
Zbiórka żywności
Nadal zbieramy żywność dla potrzebujących. Chodzi o żywność, którą
da się przechować; która nie ulegnie szybko zepsuciu się.
Prosimy ją składać w nawie bocznej kościoła. Dary te przekazywane
są Armi Zbawienia, z którą nasza parafia od lat współpracuje, aby
docierać z pomocą do potrzebujących na naszym terenie.
Archidiecezjalna Kampania Kapitałowa
W 2015 roku rozpocznie się trzyletnia kampania kapitałowa
organizowana przez Archidiecezję Newark, której celem jest
zwiększenie środków pieniężnych na pomoc parafiom borykającym się
z kłopotami finansowymi, różne akcje prowadzone przez diecezję oraz
zabezpieczenie przyszłości funkocjonowania Kościoła Diecezjalnego.
Nasza parafia będzie zaangażowana w pierwszy etap kampani. Nie
będzie więc w tym roku Dorocznego Apelu Arcybiskupa, a jeśliby ktoś
przez przypadek otrzymał wezwanie w tej sprawie niech na to nie
reaguje. Ksiądz Proboszcz organizuje zespół osób, które będą
informować nas o przebiegu kampani.
Rozliczenia podatkowe
Osoby pragnące otrzymać zaświadczenia o złożonych ofiarach
pieniężnych na potrzeby kościoła w celu rozliczeń podatkowych
prosimy o zgłoszenie takiej potrzeby w kancelarii parafialnej.
Jak się modlić?
Instrukcja obsługi - Zdrowaś Maryjo
Słowa
Zanim jednak zatrzymamy się w skrócie nad głównymi myślami płynącymi z
tej modlitwy wypada się zastanowić po co w ogóle modlić się za przyczyną
Matki Bożej. Najdoskonalsza przecież jest Modlitwa Pańska, a „Zdrowaś
Maryjo”? Bardzo łatwo można pisać o Matce Najświętszej pieśni pochwalne,
hymny, wierszyki, z których wyłania się Jej nieprawdziwy obraz. Czasem może
się wydawać być lepsza, bardziej kochająca „swoje dziatki” niż Bóg Ojciec. Co
zatem z tą Matką zrobić i po co się do niej modlić? Myślę że po to, aby odkryć
co było siłą Jej życia – posłuszeństwo Bożemu słowu, życie tym słowem. „A
Jego matka zachowywała wszystkie te słowa w swym sercu” (Łk 2, 51). Tego
uczy zresztą również różaniec – zgłębiania Bożego słowa i odczytywania go w
swoim życie; na pewno nie wyklepywania pobożnych formułek na czas.
„Zdrowaś Maryjo, łaski pełna, Pan z Tobą”. To wcale nie życzenia zdrowia,
ale swego rodzaju przywitanie Maryi. Niby takie dziwne, a przecież za każdym
razem, kiedy rozmawiamy ze znajomymi jakoś się z nimi witamy. Tymczasem
to nie jest takie zwyczajne przywitanie. Witam Tę, która jest pełna łaski, z
którą jest Pan i która jest z Panem. Tym samym proszę Ją o wstawiennictwo,
abym dobrze wykorzystywał i napełniał się tymi łaskami, które przygotowuje
dla mnie Pan, abym stale był z Nim, albo raczej – abym chciał być coraz bliżej
Niego i pamiętać o tej obecności. Przy tej okazji nasuwa mi się taka myśl, że
często prosząc kogoś o modlitwę, albo ją obiecując, myślimy właśnie o
ofiarowaniu w tej intencji modlitwy „Zdrowaś Maryjo”. I rzeczywiście coś w
tym jest głębszego. Co? Krótki fragment: „Pan z Tobą”. W kontekście
modlitwy wstawienniczej, modlitwy za kogoś, to prośba o to, aby Pan był z tą
osobą, za którą się modlimy, aby nie doświadczała już więcej raniącej
samotności, ale odczuła obecność Bożą, Bożą miłość, a może także obecność
kogoś bliskiego przy niej.
„Błogosławionaś Ty między niewiastami i błogosławiony owoc żywota
Twojego, Jezus”. Spójnik „i” bez żadnej straty dla sensu myśli można by tu
zastąpić słówkiem: „bo”. Dlaczego? Wypowiadając te słowa przypominamy
sobie to, co było sensem życia Maryi – Jej relacja ze Słowem, z Jezusem.
Człowiek jest szczęśliwy wtedy, gdy jego życie wydaje owoce. Owocem życia
Maryi był Jezus. Wypowiadając te słowa warto zastanowić się, jak jest z
„owocowaniem” drzewa mojego życia. Czy tym owocem jest Jezus? Nie
można przestać prosić o to, aby tak było...
„Święta Maryjo, Matko Boża, módl się za nami, grzesznymi, teraz i w
godzinę śmierci naszej”. Co jest tu najważniejsze? Prośba o modlitwę nie
tylko na tę chwilę, ale i na godzinę śmierci. Modlitwa pozwala zerwać więzy
samotności. Dobrze jeśli ktoś przy nas jest, ale nie wszystkich możemy
zawsze mieć przy sobie. Wtedy dobrze jest mieć z nimi jakąś łączność. Może
modlitwa?...
Gesty
Modlitwa „Zdrowaś Maryjo” przywodzi na myśl różaniec. Z różańcem zaś
kojarzy się pewien wcale nie pozbawiony znaczenia gest – trzymanie w
dłoniach paciorków. Co to może oznaczać? To, że zawsze jesteśmy w
dłoniach Boga (nie tylko na modlitwie), zawsze jesteśmy pod Jego opieką.
Nawet jeśli sami zasypiamy z różańcem w ręku, gubimy go gdzieś po nocy, On
o nas nie zapomni. „Oto wyryłem cię na moich dłoniach” (Iz 49, 16).
Pamiętam, nie zapomnę. Warto o tym pamiętać, kiedy trzymamy w dłoniach
różaniec.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION FOR PRE-K & K
The classes for Pre-K and Kindergarten will begin this
Wednesday, February 4, at 6:30PM.
…ACRE…Students in levels 5 – 8 have received a study
guide to practice possible ACRE Test questions. The Test
date is this Wednesday, February 4 at the regular class
time. Classes were suspended last Wednesday due to the
weather conditions in an effort to maintain the highest
safety for our youngsters.
The ACRE test is a way of ascertaining the information our
youngsters have retained in their years of religious
education. It is a non-threatening measuring tool that
enables us to be sure we are doing our job in educating our
young people in the tradition of the church and giving them
adequate knowledge to help their faith formation as they
grow. It is not something to become anxious over or to be
frightened of.
RECONCILIATION AND EUCHARIST
The sessions for the children preparing for First
Reconciliation is as follows: Sundays after the 9:30 Mass
until 12 noon on February 1st, 8th, and 24th. Celebration of
the Sacrament will be on

EMMAUS BOOK CLUB
Because of the snow, the Book Club will be re-scheduling
the gathering. As soon as the date is established we will
pass that date along to everyone. The first book for
discussion will be The Light Between Oceans by M.L.
Stedman in which a young couple are faced with a moral
dilemma and gradually realize the devastating impact their
choices have on the lives of others. The second book is
Recipe for Joy, a Stepmom’s Story of Finding Faith,

The Annual Spaghetti Dinner will be held on
this Saturday, January 31, 2015 under the
direction of Chef Mike Dias. Tickets are on sale
now after all the Masses.
Tickets are $8 per person and $20 for a family
(at the door $10 and $25, respectively)
Pasta with your choice of sauces (Fr. Frank’s
Bolognese sauce will be available), salad,
bread, coffee, tea and dessert will be offered.

ROSARY SOCIETY
.....Rosary Sunday… is this Sunday, February 1st.
There is no business meeting this day.
PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
Scarves for the Baby Shower have been worked on for
quite a while and they have become part of the gifts to be
prepared for the “Baby Shower” for our mothers who will
benefit from the items we have gathered. There have been
well over 50 scarves made as well as many hats and
scarves that were made to be given to the residents of the
Park Hotel.
The new focus will be lap blankets to be given to patients
and residents at Runnell’s Hospital. If anyone would like to
help and needs yarn please get in touch with the office and
if anyone would like to help organize the “yarn closet”
please call Linda at the office. The next meeting is
Wednesday, February 25th at 10:30 a.m. in the parish office.
The 9th Anniversary of the Group will be celebrated at that
meeting!!!
WORSHIP
BLESSING OF THROATS
The Feast of St. Blaise is this Tuesday and we will observe
the tradition of the Blessing of Throats at Mass on Tuesday.
Because of the desire to have throats blessed we will also
bless throats after the Masses this weekend.
SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available on a regular
basis on Saturdays at 5PM and on Sunday mornings after
the 8AM, 9:30AM, and 11AM Masses. The Sacrament is
also available after weekday Masses by simply asking.
JOIN THE CHOIR IN TIME FOR EASTER!!
Our Parish Choir regularly rehearses on Thursdays at
7:30PM in Church. Anyone interested in becoming a
member of the Choir or would like some information please
be in touch with Martha or John or call the office.
Anyone who plays an instrument and would like to be
part of our liturgy please see Martha or John after any Mass
or call the office and leave them a message.
MARIAN ICON COMING IN APRIL
Looking ahead, the Knights of Columbus have once again
arranged for the Icon of the Blessed Mother to be here on
the weekend of April 17th and 18th. The Icon will be on
display for all the Masses on that weekend.
ANNIVERSARY MASSES AT THE CATHEDRAL
Once again the Archdiocese is honoring those married for
five, twenty-five and fifty years in the year 2015. The
Masses will be celebrated in the Cathedral Basilica by
Archbishop Myers on April 19th for those married fifty years
and on May 3rd for those married five or twenty-five years.
The Masses will be t 3PM and you are welcome to call the
office and register to attend.

It is once again time to schedule readers and Eucharistic

CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUP
The support group for those caring for elderly or chronically
ill loved ones will meet on Monday, February 2nd at St.
Helen’s Church in Westfield. They meet on the first nonholiday Monday of each month at 7:30PM. Fore more

COMMUNITY BUILDING
ANNUAL FOOD DRIVE CONTINUES
Again, our Annual Food Drive to assist those in need has
begun and you are invited to bring non-perishable foods
that are still in date for use to the open are of the Church.
The food will be distributed through the Salvation Army here
in Plainfield. The Salvation Army seems to us to be the
most in touch with the needs of the people in our area and
so we have joined with them to have our assistance stay in
our local area.

“BESTCHURCH SENIORS”
…..Next Scheduled Meeting..Thursday, March 19th in the
Cafeteria at 12:45 in the afternoon. All Seniors are invited
to come to the celebration of the feast of St. Joseph. Be
festive and wear a bit of red for the for the gathering. You
are invited to bring something for “La Tavola di San
Giuseppe – St. Joseph’s Table; bread in any shape or size,
some finger food, etc. for this age-old tradition. You can
check on-line. Join us to honor St. Joseph.
…A second session of “Chair Yoga” is being planned for
after Easter.

Tax statements are available, indicating your past year’s
contributions, simply by calling the office. The statement
can be mailed or picked up.
GET-A-GRIP
The 7th grade and up Get-A-Grip group will have their
meeting on this Sunday, February 1st at the 9:30 Mass. All
our students are invited to experience the Word of God.
MOTHER SETON REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
Mother Seton Regional High School will re-schedule their
Open House and as soon as we have the date we will pass
it along.

“Brothers and sisters: I should like you to be free of
anxieties.” How much anxiety do we bring upon ourselves
by constantly worrying about not having enough or attaining
more things? God won’t necessarily give you everything
you want, but He will provide everything you need. Try this
– use the word “pray” instead of the word “worry” in the
future.
ST. ANNE SOCIETY PARISH SERVICE PROJECT
The “Baby Shower” was a fantastic success and so many,
many things were gathered to be distributed. The women
had a wonderful experience being together and the Spirit of
giving was so evident as the wrapped the packages to be
given out.. Any last minute articles may be brought to the
Parish Office.

Faith Giving for St. Bernard and St. Stanislaus
143 envelopes were used on Sunday and contained
$4,600 which means 82% of the collection came from
envelopes.
There are 490 registered families who receive envelopes,
which means 347 families did not use envelopes.
The average gift from envelopes was $32.17

ARCHDIOCESAN CAPITAL CAMPAIGN TO BE HELD
The Archdiocese will be having a much needed Capital
Campaign beginning this year of 2015. We will be in the
first group of parishes to participate in this Campaign and
so we will not be part of the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal. If,
perchance, by accident, you receive any mail about the
Archbishop’s Annual Appeal, please disregard it and do not
pledge. The purpose of the Capital Campaign is to make
available more financial aid to parishes for things that they
would not have been able to accomplish and to enhance
the Endowments that already exist. Actually, it is needed
and a good idea so that we can ensure that we are a
healthy Diocese serving our people.
I will be forming a team for this special appeal and more
information will be shard as we move forward. We live in
exciting times and we must prepare for the future of our
Church.
HOW TO REPORT ABUSE
The Archdiocese takes very seriously any and all
allegations of sexual misconduct by members of the clergy,
Religious and lay staff of the Archdiocese. We encourage
anyone with knowledge of an act of sexual misconduct to
inform us so that we may take appropriate action to protect
others and provide support to victims of sexual abuse. Call
the Archdiocesan Office of Child and Youth Protection at
201-407-3256.
Jesus was clearly a skillful speaker. People were
profoundly affected by the things he said and the
way he said them. This weekend’s Gospel has
Jesus in the City of Capernaum. On the Sabbath he
goes to the Synagogue, where he is invited to teach
the lesson. Mark’s Gospel doesn’t report what
Jesus said, but deals with the reaction of his
hearers. They were sharply divided. Most were
favorably impressed, even “spellbound by his
teaching.” But one listener was clearly offended.
He screamed at Jesus: “What have you to do with
us? Have you come to destroy us?”
What could have provoked this kind of
outburst in a public setting? Mark said that the man
“had an unclean spirit,” meaning he was possessed
by a demon. This was a common explanation in the
ancient world for almost anything that went wrong
with people. Someone becomes ill. It is caused by a
demon. Someone acts inappropriately. Ah, another
demon! We smile at such superstition, feeling
superior to it. Today we would say the man was
“emotionally disturbed.” But we are not sure what
this means either! Is our explanation that much
more enlightened than theirs? We see strange
things that people do and wonder why. This man
did something most of us would not think of doing.
We have the maturity of self-control. Let us at least
give the man credit for one thing. He took Jesus
seriously. He understood that Jesus was a threat to
his way of living. And this was a valid insight!
Jesus affected the way of life of many people.
As a child he evoked paranoia in a selfish king, as an
adult he visited the area where Zaccheus lived –a most
wealthy man- and when Jesus left Zaccheus gave half
his wealth to the poor and repaid all of his fraudulent
gin. Nicodemus, a wealthy man, a teacher and member
of the Sanhedrin, met with Jesus privately and moved
him to side with Jesus. Joseph of Arimathea was
wealthy and planning to live out his life in comfort, but
he fell under the spell of Jesus and was torn between
his prestige and his convictions.
