LEERDERAANGELEENTHEDE/AKADEMIE

SKOOLGELD/DEBIETORDERS
Weens tegniese probleme is debietorders wat vir 2 Maart gedateer was,
ongelukkig dubbel van u rekening verhaal. Jammer vir hierdie ongerief, die
skool werk voltyds in samewerking met die bank aan die probleem. Indien
daar enige navrae is, kan u mev. Fourie by Finansies kontak. Dankie aan al
die ouers wat getrou en betyds hul rekeninge vereffen.
Ouers wat aansoek doen om kwytskelding word daaraan herinner dat die
aansoeke op 25 Maart finaal sluit. Aansoeke moet by die debiteureklerk mev.
Alicia Vorster ingehandig word. Geen laat aansoeke sal oorweeg word nie.

KULTUUR
KOOR
Die koor se oefendatums en tye vir die eerste kwartaal is soos volg:
 5 Maart, 12 Maart en 19 Maart: Die hele kool oefen vanaf 19:30 tot 21:00
in die skoolsaal.
 25 Maart: Paasdiens saaloptrede 07:00
Koorfonds: Alle uitstaande koorfonds (R200) moet asb. voor of op 23 Maart
2015 by die kantoor inbetaal word.
Koordrag vir nuwe koorlede: Die koste vir die meisies se koordrag beloop
R480 en moet asb. voor of op 23 Maart by die kantoor inbetaal word. Die
koste vir die seuns se kruisbande en strikdasse is R170 en moet asb. ook voor
of op 23 Maart by die kantoor inbetaal word.

SPORT
ATLETIEK: INTERHOËR 27 FEBRUARIE
Die Ovie-atlete het geskitter en verskeie trofee verower. Baie geluk met puik
prestasies. Ons verower die spantrofee vir die beste dogters sprongespan,
sowel as die beste dogters hekkiesspan.
Individuele presasies is:
 Beste senior dogter baan – Micayla du Toit 904 ABSA punte 100m
hekkies
 Beste senior dogter veld – Annika Strydom 950 ABSA punte verspring en
Annika Strydom word ook aangewys as die Senior Victrix Lodorum met
ʼn puntetotaal van 2658 ABSA punte totaal (3 items)

Die o.19 seuns is die beste Ovie-seunsspan (1ste) en die beste Oviedogterspan is die o.14’s (2de).
Gelukwensing aan mnr. Drikus Jacobs wat die byeenkoms georganiseer het.
Dit was voorwaar fyn beplanning!
Baie geluk ook aan die Gees-Goggas met hul optrede op die paviljoen.
Dankie ook aan elke Ovie wat deur die loop van die dag as hulp/korvee
opgetree het. Julle is ons trots.

TENNIS
Overkruin se Eerste dogtersspan wen 65:2 teen Hoërskool Erasmus. Baie
geluk!
3.3
SWEM
Baie geluk aan Licinda Kleynhans wat gekwalifiseer het om aan die Nasionale
Vlak 3-swemkampioenskap vanaf 12-16 Maart te Newton Park, Port Elizabeth
deel te neem.
Werner Henken het aan die Gauteng Provinsiale Lewensredding kampioenskap deelgeneem en in al 6 items medaljes (4 silwer en 2 brons) verwerf. Baie
geluk!

TAFELTENNIS
Uitslae van wedstryde gespeel teen Hoërskool Wonderboom op 3 Maart.

ALGEMEEN
4.1
GEES-GOGGAS
Die gees het hoog geloop by LC De Villiers Interhoëratletiekbyeenkoms en
Gees-Goggas het koppe laat draai met hul splinternuwe, spesiaal ontwerpte
T-hemp. Dankie aan elke Gees-Gogga wat die byeenkoms bygewoon het, en
Ovies trots gemaakhet. Diegene wat die Interhoërbyeenkoms saam met
minstens nog een van die vorige atletiekbyeenkomste van die afgelope
seisoen bygewoon het, sal met die Sun City uitstappie beloon word. Die
datum sal nog aan leerders en ouers gekommunikeer word.
Neem kennis dat die Interhoërswembyeenkoms se organiseerders besluit het

om hierdie jaar geen toeskouers by Hillcrest swembad toe te laat nie en GeesGoggas wat reeds die R20 busgeld betaal het, het elkeen die volle bedrag
terug ontvang.
Oefening hervat weer in die 3de kwartaal ter voorbereiding vir 2016 en die
dirigente word ook gekies. Alle Ovies is welkom om by die groep aan te sluit.
Dankie aan elke ouer wat u kind in hierdie aktiwiteit ondersteun het, vir die laat
wakkerbly om u kind na byeenkomste te kom haal en die betaal van busgelde
en die aankoop van items. Die Gees-Goggas is beslis ʼn eksklusiewe groep.
4.2
EERSTESPANAFRIGTER: SAGTEBAL
Aansoeke word ingewag vir die eerstespan sagtebalafrigter. Stuur ʼn volledige
CV na [email protected]. Die sluitingsdatum is 20 Maart 2015.

MYSCHOOL CARD
Alle Gr. 8-leerders is uitgereik met ‘n aansoekvorm om deel te word van die
MySchool lojaliteitskaart sisteem. Ouers word asseblief vriendelik versoek dat
hulle die begunstigde sal verander na Hoërskool Overkruin indien hul reeds
oor ‘n kaart beskik. Alle ander Ovie-ouers kan ook deel word van ons
wenspan. U kan ‘n aansoekvorm by ontvangs kry, invul en terugstuur skool
toe. Baie dankie vir ouers wat gereeld van hul kaarte gebruik maak en so ons
skool se fondse op ‘n baie maklike wyse aanvul.

SILWEROORLOG
Dis weer oorlogtyd! Ons skop af met die R2-oorlog op 11 Maart 2015! Die
uitdaging vir elke klas is om 3,8kg se R2-munte in te samel. Klasse wat
hierdie mikpunt haal, sal op Vrydag 13 Maart 2015 om 11:00 huis toe gaan!
Daar word op elke Ovie se entoesiasme staatgemaak.

LEARNER/ACADEMIC MATTERS
1.1
SCHOOL FEES
Because of technical problems, debit orders dated for 2 March were
unfortunately deducted twice. We apologise for this inconvenience. The
school is currently working on this problem in conjunction with the bank. If
there are any enquiries in this regard, contact Mrs Fourie at Finances. Thank
you to all of the parents who pay their accounts punctually.
Parents who want to apply for exemption are reminded that applications will
close on 25 March. Applications should be submitted at the debtor clerk
Mrs Alicia Vorster. No late applications will be considered.

CULTURE
CHOIR
The choir’s practise dates and times for the first term are as follows:
 5, 12, 19 March: The entire choir will practice from 19:30 to 21:00 in the
assembly hall.
 25 March: Easter service assembly performance 07:00
Choir fees: All outstanding choir fees (R200) should please be paid before or
on 23 March 2015 at the office.
Choir uniform for new choir members: The cost of the choir uniform for
girls amount to R480 and should please be paid at the office before or on
23 March. The cost for the boys’ braces and bowties amount to R170 and
should also be paid in at the office before or on 23 March.

3.1
ATHLETICS: INTER HIGH 27 FEBRUARY
The Ovie athletes shone and won several trophies. Congratulations on
outstanding achievements. We won the team trophy for the best girls jumps
team, as well as the best girls hurdles team.
Individual achievements are:


Best senior girl track – Micayla du Toit 904 ABSA points 100m hurdles
Best senior girl field – Annika Strydom 950 ABSA points long jump and

The u.19 boys are the best Ovie boys team (1st) and the best Ovie girls team
is the u.14s (2nd).
Congratulations to Mr Drikus Jacobs who organised the event. It was indeed
fine planning!
Congratulations as well to the Gees-Goggas with their performance on the
pavilion.
Thank you to every Ovie who helped throughout the day. You are our pride.

TENNIS
Overkruin’s first girls team won 65:2 against Hoërskool Erasmus.
Congratulations!
3.3
SWEM
Congratulations to Licinda Kleynhans who qualified to participate at the
National Level 3 swimming championship in Newton Park, Port Elizabeth from
12 to 16 March.
Werner Henken participated at the Gauteng Provincial Lifesaving
championship and obtained medals in all 6 items (4 silver and 2 bronze).
Congratulations.

GENERAL
4.1
GEES-GOGGAS
The spirit was high at LC De Villiers Inter High athletics eventand the GeesGoggas turned heads with their new, specially designed T-shirt. Thank you to
every Gees-Goggas who attended the event and made Ovies proud. Those

who attended the Inter High and at least one of the previous athletics events
of the past season will be rewarded with a Sun City outing. The date will still
be communicated to the learners and parents.
Take note that the Inter High Swimming’s organisers decided not to allow any
supporters at Hillcrest swimming pool this year and the Gees-Goggas who had
already paid the R20 bus ticket had been fully reimbursed. .
Practise will recommence in the 3rd term for preparation for 2016 and the
cheerleaders will also be chosen. All Ovies are welcome to join the group.
Thank you to every parent who supported his/her child in this activity, for
staying up late to fetch your child after events, the payment of bus fees and
the purchase of items. The Gees-Goggas is indeed an exclusive group.

FIRST TEAM COACH: SOFTBALL
Applications for the first team softball coach are awaited. Please send a

MYSCHOOL CARD
All Gr.8 learners have been given an application form to become part of the
MySchool loyalty card system. Parents are kindly requested to change the
beneficiary to Hoërskool Overkruin if they already own such a card. All other
Ovie parents can also become part of our winning team. You can get an entry
form at reception to complete and send back to the school. Thank you very
much to parents who use their cards regularly, thereby supplementing our
school’s funds in a very easy way.
4.5
SILVER WAR
Once again it is wartime! We kick off with the R2 war on 11 March 2015! The
challenge for every class is to collect 3,8kg of R2 coins. Classes that achieve
this goal may go home at 11:00 on Friday 13 March! We are counting on the
enthusiasm of every Ovie.
