Chip out of Winter
A few months ago, Smith Brothers Baseball Central in New
Lowell, Ontario hosted its second annual “Chip out of Winter”
Golf Challenge. It was a free admission event with a donation of
non-perishable food that was donated to the Angus Food Bank.
Proceeds raised from the silent auction and draw supported a
youth baseball organization, the Central Ontario Reds, that are
fundraising to go to Florida and Ohio for Spring Training. The
Central Ontario Reds are new fall and winter developmental
teams for boys aged 10-13 in Simcoe County and surrounding
areas. This program has been developed as a result of the
desire amongst baseball players in Ontario to play at a higher
level.
Boyne River Classic
and Family Fun Day
T
he Alliston Lions Club is pleased to
announce the revival of its community
event and fundraiser- The Boyne River
Classic and Family Fun Day- This event will be taking place on Saturday, June 6 from 10:00 a.m. to
2:00 p.m. All funds raised from this event will go
towards Riverdale Park facility upgrades and
improvements.
For the first time, the Alliston Lions Club will
actually have rubber ducks to take to the Boyne
River for a 5 heat race with 25 prizes. First prize is
$1500, 2nd is $750, 3rd is $500 and there are 22
prizes of $50. There are only 1000 tickets available
at $10 each, so get yours early!
Many community groups will be participating,
with numerous family activities including face
painting, arts and crafts, and displays. Also onsite
will be the A.C.P.C "Bike Rodeo and Safety Fair"
event. Food will be available and competitions like
Duck-a-rokie, duck walks, duck calling and the
community's largest "duck" dance will take place.
Prior to race day, we will be having online events
and we invite the downtown businesses to participate in a window decorating competition.
We are currently looking for sponsors and community groups to contact us to participate and help
make this one of the largest local events in Simcoe
County this summer.
The Alliston Lions Club has been part of the
community for close to 80yrs and have done many
projects in Riverdale Park, from the town’s first
recreation centre -(currently the Boyne River
Museum), to the Lions Pavilion and the first washrooms.
Ticket sales start March 28th at our Spring
Pancake Breakfast (Lions Hall) and can be found at
Wimpy's Diner and Bales Family Chiropractic.
Tickets will be available through the month of April
and at events such as the South Simcoe Home Show.

The Rotary Club of Barrie in conjunction with the City of
Barrie are offering FREE Adult swimming lessons at the
Holly Community Centre during the afternoons of
April 10 -June 12.
The lessons will be based on the Canadian Lifesaving
Society Swim to Survive standards which are the minimum skills needed to survive an unexpected fall into deep
water. These are expressed in a skill sequence: Roll into
deep water, tread water for one minute, swim 50 meters,
talk, throw and reach. For more information please call

Borden’s Hour | L’Heure de Borden
L
'événement mondial de l'Heure de la Terre 2015 se profile à l'horizon. La BFC Borden a
toujours soutenu cette initiative avec enthousiasme. La BFC est cependant moins en
mesure de démontrer son engagement à l'égard de cette bonne cause du fait que la campagne se déroule durant la fin de semaine.
La BFC Borden a mis sur pied une initiative appelée l'Heure de
Borden, pour mieux montrer son soutien indéfectible à l'égard de la
lutte contre le changement climatique. Cette initiative permettra
à la BFC Borden de démontrer son engagement durant les
heures de travail.
En appui à cette campagne, le personnel de la base sera
invité à éteindre les appareils d'éclairage et les appareils
électroniques non essentiels pendant une heure, de 13
h à 14 h, le 20 mars. L'objectif visé est de montrer
qu'en apportant de petits changements à nos habitudes de travail, nous pouvons contribuer de façon
importante à réduire les répercussions néfastes sur
l'environnement de notre planète.
Un appareil non essentiel est un appareil qu'il
n'est pas nécessaire de garder sous tension pour des
raisons de sécurité. Ces appareils comprennent, sans
s'y limiter :

he Earth Hour 2015 global event is on the horizon. While CFB
Borden has always been a strong supporter of this initiative, the
fact that this campaign takes place over the weekend limits
CFB Borden’s ability to showcase its commitment towards this
worthy cause.
CFB Borden has adopted an internally driven initiative
called Borden’s Hour, to further display our unwavering support for the ongoing fight on climate change. This initiative
will provide CFB Borden an opportunity to showcase its
commitment during working hours.
In support of this campaign, Base personnel will be
requested to turn off their non-essential lighting and electronics for one hour on March 20, from 1300 hrs – 1400
hrs. This event is to show that making small changes in our
everyday work routines can make a big difference in reversing the negative environmental impacts on our planet.
Non-essential equipment consists of those items not
required for safety purposes and includes, but is not limited
to:

routines, you are asked to plan ahead and conduct work and tasks that will limit
energy consumption for this specific hour.

Recreation has outdone themselves again with a fantastically fun week of activities for our Base’s children.
From bowling, to swimming, dance party to crazy scientists with wacky hair,
games, skating, movies and more, your children have been busy!

d’autres activités, vos
enfants seront tellement
occupés qu’ils ne verront
pas passer la semaine!

activités créatives et à
thèmes, non seulement pour
que les jeunes s’amusent
follement au camp, mais aussi pour qu’ils vivent des moments inoubliables dont ils feront part à leurs parents et amis » , a fait savoir Kathleen Sweeney, coordonnatrice des
loisirs communautaires. « Des activités qui leur donneront un avant-goût de l’été! »
« Je m’amuse beaucoup au camp. Nous jouons beaucoup de sports et nous aurons
beaucoup de plaisir aujourd’hui » , a indiqué Kate Stuart, âgée de 6 ans, qui attendait
avec impatience l’activité dansante. « J’aime danser! »
Ne vous en faites pas si vos enfants ont raté cette belle semaine. Ils auront la chance
de participer cet été à de superbes camps organisés par le Service des loisirs communautaires : le camp Plaisir d’été, le camp sports aquatique et le programme Jeune sauveteur.
Nous acceptons encore les inscriptions, donc faites vite et allez inscrire vos enfants au
Centre Buell pour qu’ils ne ratent pas un été rempli de plaisir! Nous avons hâte d’accueillir vos enfants aux camps!

ike typical Canadians, the community of CFB Borden loves
hockey! Yet another week of great hockey wrapped up as the
battle for the CAF National Men’s Hockey Championships
came to a close.
The tournament began with the usual round-robin play. Right from
the

Comme tous bons Canadiens, la communauté de la BFC Borden adore
le hockey. Par ailleurs, une autre superbe semaine de hockey se termine
avec la fin du Championnat national de hockey masculin des FAC.
Le tournoi a commencé par l’habituel tournoi à la ronde. Dès le début,
deux équipes se sont démarquées : les représentants de la région du
Québec, la BFC Valcartier ont remporté trois de leurs quatre parties, et la
BFC Halifax, représentant la région de l’Atlantique, a travaillé très fort
pour se rendre en finale. La BFC Petawawa, représentant l’Ontario, a
également fait un bel effort, mais malheureusement n’a pas pu vaincre les
deux meilleures équipes.
En milieu de semaine, lors du banquet du tournoi, les gars ont reçu de
la belle visite, le directeur exécutif de l’Association des anciens de la LNH
et deux fois champion de la coupe Stanley, Mark Napier. Ce dernier a affirmé être reconnaissant pour tout ce qu’il a pu accomplir au cours de sa vie
et pour les expériences qu’il a vécues. Il appuie de tout cœur les FAC et se
rend régulièrement outre mer rencontrer les troupes déployées. Il en profite pour jouer quelques parties de hockey balle afin de leur remonter le
moral. Ses paroles ont inspiré les joueurs pendant la durée du tournoi.
Mercredi, il y a eu la finale du championnat au cours de laquelle la BFC
Valcartier et la BFC Halifax se disputaient le titre. La partie a bien commencé, la BFC Halifax prenant rapidement les devants en comptant deux
buts au cours de la première période. La BFC Valcartier a terminé la période par un but et est revenue en force à la deuxième période comptant un
autre but égalisant ainsi 2 à 2. Halifax a immédiatement repris l’avance et
la partie a été serrée jusqu’à la toute fin de la période lorsque Valcartier a
compté un autre but, égalisant le pointage de nouveau. La partie était maintenant 3 à 3. Au cours de la troisième période, malgré un vaillant effort,
Halifax n’a pu tenir le coup devant Valcartier. Halifax a commencé à prendre du recul, et Valcartier a compté neuf buts pour remporter le championnat 12 à 3.
Nous félicitons le joueur le plus utile du tournoi, le Cpl Robin
Quennville de la BFC Valcartier, pour son jeu magnifique sur la glace, ainsi
que le Capt. John Hart de la BFC Petawawa qui a remporté le prix d’esprit
sportif pour son fantastique travail d’équipe. Toutes les équipes ont fourni
un bel effort, nous vous félicitons tous ainsi que les champions du tournoi,
la BFC Valcartier.

French Scout - 13e St-Joseph Borden
The 13e St-Joseph Borden Francophone Scout troop is looking for men and
women 18 or older to lead groups of young boys and girls. You don't need to have
children of your own in order to become a Scout Leader.
If the well-being of young people is important to you, and if you are interested in
teaching those values such as self-reliance, supportiveness, responsibility to their
community and respect for the environment, we welcome you! The Troop meets
every Thursday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the Scout room on the Base, near the

Le groupe francophone de la 13ième St-Joseph de Borden est à la recherche
d’adultes hommes et femmes (18 ans et plus) pour assurer l’animation des jeunes
garçons et filles. Veuillez noter qu’il n’est pas nécessaire d’avoir des enfants dans le
mouvement pour devenir animateur ou animatrice.
Si le bien-être des jeunes vous tient à cœur et si vous voulez leur transmettre des
valeurs telles que la débrouillardise, l’entraide, la fraternité, le respect de l’environnement, vous êtes les bienvenus! Les rencontres ont lieu tous les jeudis de 18 h 30 à

Vegetarian Identifiers

he National Standardized Cycle
Menu (NSCM) has now been
rolled out across all CAF Static
Dining Halls since the beginning of Nov,
2014. So far it has been very successful and
quite popular with our diners, of note is the
availability of a Healthier Choice and
Vegetarians options that although were
available through the D Food Svcs Choice
and Quantity Standards in the past they
were never truly defined against a set criteria or sufficiently showcased so that diners
were aware of these options.
As the NSCM development moved forward it became evident that in order for
these choices to become part of our diners
daily routine while eating in our dining
facilities we would need identifiers that
were easily recognizable and take the guess
work out of meal selection.
Part of leading a healthier lifestyle means
fueling the body properly, the Healthier
Choice Entrées would need to meet a set criteria consisting of the following;
• Total Fat - 15 grams
saturated - 10 grams, and
unsaturated - 5 grams
• Sodium - 600 milligrams
• Energy - 400 Kilocalories
The recent updates to the CAF’s “duty to
accommodate” policy for the Religious and
Spiritual Accommodation has set the
NSCM to meet that goal. Food Service
Officers are to provide food service support
for a much more culturally diverse population in the CAF as we must truly be representative of the population that we represent.
Where a member’s faith prohibits specific foods, it may be possible to meet their
dietary needs by ensuring alternative choic-
es are available. Where the member’s faith
prescribes stringent requirements for the
preparation and service of food, consideration should be given to the procurement of
commercially prepared meals, where this is
a reasonable options. The provision of a
vegetarian diet will meet the needs of the
most common religious and spiritual restrictions, the NSCM provides a vegetarian
entrée choice at each meal with recipes that
ensure the restrictions are met (recipes are
to be followed and criteria respected).
Within the next few weeks these symbols
will start appearing in your local
Base/Wing/Garrison kitchens either on your
menu boards and serving areas in order to
assist you, the diner in making choices that
meet your dietary needs.

(FAC) en novembre 2014. À

été clairement définis selon

développement du MCNN,
il est devenu évident qu’afin

intégrante de l’alimentation
des dîneurs, il était impératif
qu’ils puissent être aisément
et facilement identifiables.
Dans un contexte de
santé global, ceci inclut un
apport alimentaire pour un
rendement optimal. Le
choix santé rencontre les

A
s in previous years in Borden, a
theme aircraft was selected for
the anniversary of the Royal
Canadian Air Force, a tradition that intends
not only to highlight the aircraft itself, but
also to give recognition to the Canadians
who flew and maintained it. For the RCAF
91st Anniversary, the Northrop Nomad was
selected, as this year marks the 70th
anniversary of its retirement from CAF
service, and because of its association with
the RCAF in Borden.
A military variant of the Northrop
Gamma aircraft, the Northrop A-17, as the
United States Army Air Corp (USAAC)
designated it, was designed as an attack
bomber. Fitted with four (4) wing-mounted,
30 caliber machine guns, a cockpit, mounted rear-facing machine gun, perforated
flaps, an internal bomb bay and four (4)
underwing bomb racks, 110 were ordered by
the USAAC in 1935, delivery started in
1936.
Even though they were considered obsolete by the outbreak of the Second World
War, in 1940, the Royal Air Force (RAF)
took over an order France had made for 93
ex-USAAC A-17 aircraft, renaming them
Northrop Nomad Mk 1, and designated
them for various training roles. Of the aircraft received, 32 were provided to the
RCAF for use in the British Commonwealth
Air Training Plan (BCATP) and initially
assigned to Camp Borden. The Nomads did
not see combat service as they remained in
training roles for the duration of the war,
being used for advanced air training and target towing before being Struck-Off Strength
in 1945.

One of Camp Borden’s Nomad aircraft
recently made a dramatic re-appearance. In
December 1940, Nomad 3521 was involved
in a mid-air collision with Nomad 3512 over
Lake Muskoka, and disappeared. On July
27, 2010, Nomad 3521 was located on the
bottom of the lake and in October 2014 the
wreckage was raised and transported to the
National Air Force Museum of Canada, in
Trenton Ontario, where a determination of
restoration or suitably displaying the aircraft
will be made.

Borden un avion-thème pour souligner l’anniversaire de l’Aviation royale canadienne (ARC), une
tradition qui sert non seulement à mettre en valeur un
aéronef, mais aussi à rendre hommage aux Canadiens qui
l'ont piloté et maintenu. Pour le 91e anniversaire de l’ARC,
le choix s’est arrêté sur le Northrop Nomad, car cette année
marque le 70e anniversaire de son retrait du service dans les

Une variante militaire de l’aéronef Northrop Gamma, le
Northrop A-17, comme l’appelait le United States Army Air

déclenchement de la Deuxième Guerre mondiale, la Royal
Air Force (RAF) a repris en 1940 une commande de 93
aéronefs A-17 de l’ancien USAAC passée par la France.
Elle les a renommés les Northrop Nomad Mk 1 et affectés à
diverses fonctions d’instruction. Des aéronefs reçus, 32 ont
été fournis à l’ARC dans le cadre du Plan d’entraînement

Pins are here
For 32 years, the anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force,
whose birthplace is here in Borden, has been recognized by the
production of commemorative buttons and lapel pins which
sport an aircraft of historical significance. This year’s aircraft
is the Northrop A-17 Nomad Fighter/bomber. Thirty two
(32) of these aircraft were taken on strength 75 years ago
in 1940, with the majority assigned to Borden for use as
advanced training aircraft. One of Borden’s Nomad aircraft, #3521, which disappeared during a search mission
over Lake Muskoka in Dec 1940, was raised on 28th
October 2014 from the icy waters. The aircraft will be displayed in the National Air Force Museum of Canada in
Trenton Ont.
The RCAF 91st Anniversary pins are for sale at the 16
Wing Headquarters and RCAF Academy Orderly Rooms,
Canadian Forces School of Aerospace Technology and Engineering

Depuis 32 ans, on souligne l’anniversaire de l’ARC, qui a vu le jour ici, à
Borden, en produisant des macarons et des épinglettes qui arborent un
aéronef d’importance historique. L’appareil qui a été choisi cette année
est le chasseur-bombardier Northrop A-17 Nomad. Il y a 75 ans, en
1940, on a fait l’acquisition de trente-deux (32) de ces aéronefs, dont
la majorité ont été affectés à Borden pour l’entraînement avancé.
L’un des appareils Nomad de Borden, le no 3521, qui a disparu pendant une mission de recherche au-dessus du lac Muskoka en décembre 1940, a été repêché des eaux glaciales le 28 octobre 2014.
L’aéronef sera exposé au Musée national de la Force aérienne du
Canada, à Trenton, en Ontario.

salle des rapports du Quartier général de la 16e Escadre et de l’École du
Commandement aérien de l’ARC, aux cantines de l’École de technologie

I
n September 2014, the Canadian Forces Chaplain
School and Centre (CFChSC) moved into a new
building at CFB Borden. With this move came an
opportunity to create a place of renewal, a home station to
inspire the Chaplains with their mission, something that had
been lacking in the past. Commandant LCol Acton seized
the opportunity and a small room off the Chaplains
Resource Library was set aside as the new home of the
Memorabilia Room.
“It was a project that the Commandant had because he
wanted the Chaplain School to be a place where Chaplains
come to be reminded of their vocation as Chaplains and to
be spiritually renewed in their vocation, so the Memorabilia
Room connects us to our heritage as Chaplains and helps us
to find that part of our vocation: remembering those who
have served in this capacity before us,” explained Padre
Gosse, of CFChSC. “It makes me proud. It reminds me of
the sacrifices that people have made before and that I’m
connected to that.”
As the Chaplains hadn’t had the space before, they did
not have a lot of historical items available to put in the
room, and so the call went to out to Chaplains and retired
Chaplains throughout the CAF who slowly began to send in
items. Fortunately and coincidentally, the Anglican
Cathedral in Toronto was holding an exhibit on Chaplain
items during the autumn of 2014, and both entities agreed to
share back and forth some of their donations, helping to
round out the School’s collection.
The Memorabilia Room now offers some very interesting historical items. Along with prayer books of various
faiths from different decades, the Room features the communion kit of Padre Almond, a Padre who served in both the
Boer War and the First World War. The kit was given to him
by his family between the two conflicts and was actually
used during the First World War.
There is a prayer scarf and prayer book on display,
belonging to the only Chaplain who received the Victoria
Cross, Padre LCol John Weir Foote, who allowed himself to
be taken as a Prisoner of War along with some of his men
during the Second World War, so he could continue to minister to them while they were in captivity using the same
prayer book. Another interesting item is a letter from April
1945, written by a Padre McCreery to the families of his
men, encouraging them to continue to write to the soldiers
to boost their morale as the end of the war was in sight.
Unfortunately, Padre McCreery himself never made it
home, as he lost his life a month later while trying to rescue

“While doing the Memorabilia Room, we realized that
there was nowhere where all the Chaplain dead were commemorated. Most Chaplains don’t even have an idea as to
how many Chaplain war dead we have, what their names
are; we don’t know that part of our history very well,” commented Gosse. “One of the things that we decided to do was
create this memorial board for our Chaplain war dead, so
that all who have given their lives during war time are
memorialized here.”
Although Padre Demiray, CFB Borden’s only Muslim
Imam has donated his prayer headdress and robes that were
used in Afghanistan, the Memorabilia Room is still lacking
in interfaith items. The Chaplain School is still on the lookout for anything of a historical nature related to the
Chaplaincy, and would welcome donations from the community of that nature.
“For me personally and I think for most Padres, the
Memorabilia Room connects us with a very important history for ourselves as a Chaplain Service and it gives us a
sense of belonging to that history and connecting with it so
that we can have a sense of cohesion or esprit du corps,”
explained Commandant, LCol Acton. “That sense of
belonging helps us do our ministry knowing that we are on
the shoulders of those who have preceded us and have
served well.”

la BFC Borden. Ce déménagement
a suscité l’occasion de créer un
lieu d’attache et de renouvellement, une source d’inspiration
pour les aumôniers dans la réalisation de leur mission, quelque
été désignée comme le nouveau
domicile de la salle des souvenirs.
« C’était un projet que le commandant caressait parce qu’il
voulait que le Centre-école des
aumôniers soit un lieu où se ren-
dent les aumôniers pour se rappeler leur vocation et se renouveler
sur le plan spirituel dans leur mission. La salle des souvenirs nous
relie
à
notre
patrimoine
d’aumôniers et nous aide à trouver
cette partie de notre vocation : se
souvenir de ceux qui nous ont
précédés dans cette fonction, » a
expliqué l’aumônier Gosse, du
CEAFC. « Cela me rend fière et
me rappelle les sacrifices que les
gens ont faits avant nous et que j’y
suis rattachée. »
Puisque les aumôniers ne disposaient pas de l’espace nécessaire
auparavant, ils n’avaient pas beaucoup d’articles historiques à
exposer dans la salle, alors on a
lancé un appel aux aumôniers et
aux aumôniers retraités de
l’ensemble des FAC, qui ont lentement commencé à faire parvenir
des objets. Heureusement, et par
pure coïncidence, la Cathédrale
anglicane de Toronto a présenté
une exposition d’objets des
aumôniers à l’automne 2014, et les
deux entités ont accepté de

La salle réservée aux souvenirs
expose maintenant certains articles
historiques très intéressants. Outre
les livres de prières de diverses
confessions et de différentes
décennies, on y trouve une trousse
de communion de l’aumônier
Almond, qui a servi pendant la
guerre des Boers et la Première
Guerre mondiale. Cette trousse lui
a été offerte par sa famille entre les
deux conflits et il l’a utilisée pendant la Première Guerre mondiale.
Une écharpe de prière et un
livre de prières sont également
exposés. Ceux-ci appartiennent au
premier aumônier ayant reçu la
Croix de Victoria, le Lcol John
Weir Foote, qui a accepté d’être
fait prisonnier de guerre avec certains de ses hommes au cours de la
Seconde Guerre mondiale, pour
continuer d’exercer son ministère
auprès d’eux, ce qu’il a fait au
moyen du même livre de prières.
Un autre article intéressant est une
lettre datant d’avril 1945, écrite
par l’aumônier McCreery à l’intention des familles de ses
hommes pour les encourager à
poursuivre leur correspondance
avec les soldats pour leur remonter
le moral alors que la fin de la
guerre
approchait.
Malheureusement,
l’aumônier
McCreery n’est jamais rentré au
pays, car il a péri un mois plus tard
en tentant de secourir un soldat
blessé.
« En montant la salle des souvenirs, nous avons réalisé qu’il n’y
avait aucun endroit où tous les
aumôniers disparus étaient honorés. La plupart des aumôniers
n’ont aucune idée du nombre
d’aumôniers morts à la guerre ni
de leurs noms; nous ne connais-
sons pas très bien ce pan de notre
histoire », a commenté l’aumônier
Gosse. « Nous avons donc décidé,
entre autres, de créer un tableau
commémoratif en l’honneur de
nos aumôniers morts à la guerre,
afin que la mémoire de ceux qui
ont péri en temps de guerre soit
immortalisée ici. »
Bien que l’aumônier Demiray,
le seul imam musulman de la BFC
Borden, ait fait don de la coiffure
et des robes qu’il a portées en
Afghanistan, la salle des souvenirs
compte très peu d’objets interconfessionnels. Le Centre-école des
aumôniers est toujours à la
recherche de tout article historique
ayant un lien avec l’aumônerie, et
tout don de cette nature provenant
de la communauté sera le bienvenu.
« Pour ma part et pour la plupart des aumôniers, je crois, la
salle des souvenirs est un moyen
d’écrire un chapitre très important
de l’histoire pour nous, à titre de
Service de l’aumônerie, et elle
nous donne un sentiment d’appartenance à cette histoire en plus de
nous y rattacher, ce qui nous insuffle un sentiment de cohésion ou
d’esprit de corps », a expliqué le
commandant, le Lcol Acton. « Ce
sentiment d’appartenance nous
aide à exercer notre ministère en
sachant que nous sommes portés
par ceux qui nous ont précédés et
qui ont bien servi. »

amedi après-midi, le Regroupement Vétérans NU OTAN Canada de Barrie-Borden a eu l’occasion de vivre une page
de l’histoire militaire canadienne. Ensemble, les membres du groupe se sont rendus à l’Hôpital pour anciens combattants de Sunnybrook à Toronto pour rencontrer les anciens combattants qui y vivent.

n Saturday afternoon, the Veteran’s UN
NATO Borden-Barrie group was presented
with an opportunity to connect first-hand
with Canadian military history. Together the group
made the trip to Sunnybrook Veteran’s Hospital in
Toronto, to meet with the resident Veterans.
Sunnybrook is the largest Veteran’s hospital in Canada,
with facilities capable of housing 438 Veterans.
Currently, 430 Veterans are in residence, with an average age of 92. The youngest resident is 86, the oldest
97, and the majority served in WWII. Some served in
both WWII and the Korean War.
Mrs Julie Pepin, a Recreational Therapist at
Sunnybrook, took the group on a guided tour where we
were able to chat with Veterans and their families. We
spoke with one particular Veteran couple who were celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary. All of the
Veterans had amazing and inspiring stories to share
with us, not just about their military experience, but
also about their lives after service.
At the end of the day, it was a chance for the
Veterans to tell their stories, remember times better and
worse, and share with those who stood before us. Their
efforts will never be forgotten.

anniversaire de mariage. Tous les anciens combattants avaient des histoires incroyables et
inspirantes à nous raconter, pas seulement au sujet de leur expérience militaire, mais aussi
à propos de leur vie après le service.
En fin de compte, c’était une belle occasion pour les anciens combattants de raconter
leurs histoires, de se souvenir de bons et de moins bons moments et pour nous de partager
avec ceux qui se tenaient devant nous. Leurs efforts ne seront jamais oubliés.

Emergency Preparedness week is an annual event which is conducted in May of every
year. Your Base Fire Department will be conducting an Awareness campaign in the month
of April. The awareness period will provide you with an opportunity to become aware and
informed so that you can prepare for any kind of emergency.
Think about a major storm, a flood, or chemical spill. These types of disasters could
affect water supply, electricity, and phone service for days. This means being ready to cope
for at least the 72 hours of an emergency while Emergency services help those in urgent
need. Being prepared for this can make any type of situation less stressful for you and your
family.
