Easter Sunday, April 5th - Celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ!
Easter Joy

Jesus came to earth, to show us how to live,
How to put others first, How to love and how to give.
Then He set about His work, that God sent Him to do;
He took our punishment on Himself; He made us clean and new.
He could have saved Himself, calling angels from above,
But He chose to pay our price for sin; He paid it out of love.
Our Lord died on Good Friday, but the cross did not destroy
His resurrection on Easter morn that fills our hearts with joy.
Now we know our earthly death, like His, is just a rest.
We'll be forever with Him in heaven, where life is best.
So we live our lives for Jesus, think of Him in all we do.
Thank you Savior; Thank you Lord. Help us love like you!

the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed
from the tomb. 2So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have
taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.” 3Then Peter and the other disciple set out and went
toward the tomb. 4The two were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. 5He bent down to
look in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he did not go in. 6Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the
tomb. He saw the linen wrappings lying there, 7and the cloth that had been on Jesus’ head, not lying with the linen wrappings but
rolled up in a place by itself. 8Then the other disciple, who reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; 9for as yet
they did not understand the scripture, that he must rise from the dead. 10Then the disciples returned to their homes. 11But Mary stood
weeping outside the tomb. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb; 12and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body
of Jesus had been lying, one at the head and the other at the feet. 13They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.” 14When she had said this, she turned around
and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know that it was Jesus. 15Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you looking for?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid
him, and I will take him away.” 16Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to him in Hebrew, “Rabbouni!” (which means Teacher). 17Jesus said to her, “Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to
them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” 18Mary Magdalene went and announced to the
disciples, “I have seen the Lord”;; and she told them that he had said these things to her.

Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. 14They were talking
with each other about everything that had happened. 15As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came
up and walked along with them; 16but they were kept from recognizing him. 17He asked them, "What are you discussing together as
you walk along?" They stood still, their faces downcast. 18One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, "Are you only a visitor to Jerusalem
and do not know the things that have happened there in these days?" 19"What things?" he asked. "About Jesus of Nazareth," they
replied. "He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people. 20The chief priests and our rulers handed him
over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him; 21but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And
what is more, it is the third day since all this took place. 22In addition, some of our women amazed us. They went to the tomb early
this morning 23but didn't find his body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive. 24Then
some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but him they did not see." 25He said to them, "How
foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26Did not the Christ have to suffer these things
and then enter his glory?" 27And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures
concerning himself. 28As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus acted as if he were going farther. 29But they
urged him strongly, "Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over." So he went in to stay with them. 30When he was at
the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. 31Then their eyes were opened and they
recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight.

Over 350 inmates were given the opportunity to hear that we all make
choices in our lives!

Pastor Scott presented an Easter message and the inmates joined in singing
“I’ll Fly Away”; “Do Lord”, “Amazing Grace – My Chains are Gone”.
The inmates were given an Easter goodie bag as they left the service.

Walk the Walk, previously Walk-4-Life, is Women's Hope second biggest
annual fundraiser. The donations received will help us continue to provide
our services free of charge and will help us reach more young women and
men in need of our services. Notify Payton Tatum at [email protected] or

walking.

UMCOR HEALTH KITS
The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is in need of health kits
worldwide. These kits provide basic necessities to people who have been forced to
leave their homes because of human conflict or natural disaster. Bishop Leeland has
once again made a plea for health kits to be collected at Annual Conference.
The United Methodist Women’s organization (UMW) of our church is promoting a church wide drive for health kits to send with our lay leaders to Annual Conference.
The deadline for preparing your kit is Sunday, May 17th. If you would like
to participate in this mission project directions for preparing health kits are
listed below:
HEALTH KITS (value $12) Please follow directions specifically. All
items must be new. Remove packaging unless otherwise specified. Since
strict rules often govern product entry into international countries, it is
important that kits contain only the requested items, nothing more.
Items to include:
1 hand towel (15x25 inches to 17x27 inches) kitchen, cleaning and
microfiber towels not acceptable
1 washcloth
1 comb (comb should be sturdy and longer than 6 inches)
1 metal nail file or nail clippers
1 bath size soap (3 oz or larger, no Ivory or Jergens due to moisture content, do not remove from original
packaging)
1 toothbrush (adult size only, do not remove from original packaging
6 adhesive bandages (3/4 inch to 1 inch size, common household band-aids)
1 gallon Ziploc plastic bag
Assembly - Lay out hand towel flat on a table. Lay the washcloth flat in the center of the towel. Place remaining
items on top of the washcloth. Fold over the sides of the towel to cover all the items. Fold over one end of the
towel so that it covers all of the items. Grasp the bundle of items tightly and roll over the remainder of the towel
tightly. Place the tightly rolled bundle in the plastic bag. Remove air and seal the bag.
A collection box will be provided in the first floor hallway.

Congratulations to Bobbie Hamilton upon the birth of a granddaughter, Megan Grace Hamilton.
Megan is the daughter of Russell & Lisa Hamilton. She was born April 1 st weighing 7lbs, 2oz
and 191/2 inches long. The Hamiltons live in Spanish Fort, AL.
