The young ladies attended the 75th Southeastern Region Conference of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., March 12-15, 2015 in Atlanta, Georgia. They created quite a stir sporting beautiful blue and gold dresses, the sorority’s official colors, designed by up-and-coming Grand Bahamian fashion house, Bahari. According to Jaleesa Grant, Rhoer advisor, “It was important for us to attend the conference and bring our Bahamian culture and stamp. From the moment we arrived in the Bahari dresses, we made quite an impression. Everyone loved our dresses and there were quite a few expressions of interest. This may result with a brand-new market opportunity for Bahari. We were so pleased to be able to represent our island.” Peri Lockhart, President of the Rhoers Club remarked, “We were excited to attend the conference and meet our fellow sisters from the region. We were able to stand out and represent our country with pride and in style.” While at the conference the young ladies were able to participate in several leadership workshops as well as participate in college tours. Thia Farquharson, Bishop Michael Eldon student, was a nominee for Rhoer of the year. The group also won the coveted Rhoer Club Growth award for the second year in a row.
