Sigma Kappa Sorority Announcement
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 6, 2012 CONTACT: Sigma Kappa National Headquarters 317-872-3275 Sigma Kappa Sorority Announcement It is with deep regret that the national council of Sigma Kappa Sorority announces that on December 8, 2012 the Kappa Theta Chapter (Saint Louis University) of Sigma Kappa Sorority will close. Members of Kappa Theta Chapter determined that they were unable to meet chapter and organizational goals and on November 4, 2012 voted to request dormant status. This decision comes after a long period of hard and focused work by the chapter and national leadership. National council accepted the chapter’s request and the status change will be effective December 8, 2012. Members of Kappa Theta Chapter will be granted alumna status. Sigma Kappa was established at Saint Louis University in 1999. The Sorority looks forward to the opportunity to rejoin the strong fraternity and sorority community at Saint Louis University in the future. Sigma Kappa Sorority, founded in 1874, is a national not-for-profit organization of more than 152,000 women dedicated to excellence in academics, personal character, and service to society. The purpose of Sigma Kappa Sorority is to “provide women lifelong opportunities and support for social, intellectual, and spiritual development by bringing women together to positively impact our communities.” ####
