As I begin to write this newsletter and think about this past week, "Teacher Appreciation Week," there are not enough superlatives to describe the week. "Wow,"!! "Incredible," "Unbelievable," and "Kindness Galore"! have been some of the feelings expressed over these last five days. The teachers' doors have been decorated representing different themes, amazing food, flowers and plants to enjoy, gifts, acts of kindness and all the caring from children and parents. We all want to thank each and every one of you, and please know that we appreciate everything you have done for us during this very special week. "You have truly filled all of our buckets!" and tummies too! Tomorrow, the seventh and eighth grade students will leave for their year end trip to visit Bryce Canyon National Park and Zion National Parks. The students will be focusing on three main educational goals: They will be learning about the geology of the land, the natural history of studying movement of peoples across the United States, and they will also bring their studies of the characteristics of a culture and community to life as they learn about Native peoples and early explorers to the desert southwest. The students will be visiting early cabins and seeing petroglyphs and cliff dwellings as well as hiking the Narrows, visiting the Human History Museum and canyoneering. Our middle school travelers will be returning to school on Friday, May 15, at approximately 3pm. We wish them well and also a safe journey. Last week's triathlon was a huge success. We raised over $1,300 for Camp Wyapiapi participants. Way to go!! Ms. K and Broomfield Academy staff would like to give special thanks the following parents: * Terrie Ames, for the goody bags that ALL participants received (from MC Holdings) * The Ertl family for a ton of hats, posters, and auto-related goodies (from Volvo and Sill-Terhar) * Nicole MacMillan for a rolling backpack full of goodies (from Pilatus) * Tracey Odegard for donated gift cards to Target and AMC Movies * Randi Scherr for a donation from the Lakeshore Athletic Club for 1-month family pass * Aimee Dorman who brought in water bottles from Huntington Learning Ms. K adds: "And our parent volunteers were AWESOME!! So helpful and flexible and really made everything go smoothly! A special shout out to Sharon Hansen for her hard work to quickly enter/compute our results."
