Connecting People to People, and People to Christ
May 31, 2015
New Sunday School Classes Starting May 31 and June 7:
Why are Christians so hypocritical? Why does God allow suffering?
Captured live and unscripted, Pastor Timothy Keller meets with a group of people to
address their doubts about Christianity. In this 6-session study, The Reason for God,
he uses literature, philosophy, real-life experiences, and the Bible to teach you how
to respond when confronted with skeptics' objections to your beliefs.
Join us for this new Sunday School class starting
THIS SUNDAY, May 31st in the Unfinished Room.
_____________________________________________________
Beginning June 7, the FACTS class will begin a 10 week summer series on the
book of Ezra. As a class, we hope to learn key principles of spiritual renewal for our
lives from this Old Testament book. If you are not currently involved in a Sunday
School class, we would love to have you join us! The only book needed for this
study is your Bible. For more information see one of the class teachers, Tina Melton,
Melody McRee or Robert Lance.
July 4th Annual Barbeque
Join us on July 4th at Fairview's lake property, Calvin's Cove, for fellowship, food, and fun at our
annual BBQ, hash, and rice lunch. Bring a side dish or dessert to share and your own drinks. Cost is
$5 per person or $20 per family. Please join in the fun in camping out the night before and see who
can put up the tackiest, wackiest, craziest lantern lights around their tents.
The Fellowship Committee is seeking a new 'lead cook' and volunteers to form a fourth cooking
team. Volunteers are needed by August so we can prepare our menus. Please contact Becky Massie by
email [email protected] or phone 224-321-0072 if you are interested.
FRIDAY BIBLE STUDY
Do you feel besieged by cultural relativism or by the priorities of the world around you? Consider
joining us for a five week study of the book of Colossians beginning on Friday, June 5th at 10:30 am
to discover what Paul wrote to the saints at Colosse who were also struggling with worldly views that
conflicted with living as Christians. His words to them apply to us and will encourage us to live as
faithful followers of Christ. The study will be facilitated by Martha Ponder.
Christmas Child Operation Shoebox project: We are collecting clothes for girls (age 2-14) during
June. You may place items in the collection bin outside the church office. (Please avoid shirts with words.)
Flower Calendar Openings: July 19, August 9, 16, 30. Call the church office to reserve your date.
If you are not taking your flowers, please notify the church office so we can share them with others.

Women’s Summer Bible Study Opportunity!
Are you living with the stress of an overwhelmed schedule
and aching with the sadness of an underwhelmed soul?
Lysa TerKeurst is learning that there is a big difference between saying yes to
everyone and saying yes to God. In The Best Yes she will help you:
 Cure the disease to please with a biblical understanding of the command to love.
 Escape the guilt of disappointing others by learning the secret of the small no.
 Overcome the agony of hard choices by embracing a wisdom based decisionmaking process.
 Rise above the rush of endless demands and discover your best yes today.
This study, facilitated by Lisa Eaves and Whitney Graybeal, will begin Tuesday, June 16th at 6:30 pm in
the FACTS Sunday School classroom. Participant guides will be available for purchase the first night of
the study. Please visit http://lysaterkeurst.com/the-best-yes/ for additional information regarding this
selection.

STILL MISSING from the Adult Church Library: "The Best Yes" by Lysa Terkeurst.
If you have borrowed this book, please return it to the Adult Church Library. Thank you.
THANK YOU, FAIRVIEW FAMILY, for your CONTINUED generosity in donating
and/or loaning items for our missionaries, Benji and Esther Campbell, who are arriving in
late July.
We received an upholstered chair, stroller. and a car seat in the last two weeks. Praises!!
If you receive the Campbell's Newsletter, you know the latest news that Stephen is going to
be a Big Brother!! How exciting for this family. Esther is expecting her 2nd child in
December of 2015.
Young Moms: Please contact Esther via email, with your recommendation for an
obstetrician. It will allow her time to check her insurance and be ready when she arrives.
Please take a moment and send her an email at [email protected].
We are still looking for: chest of drawers, another upholstered chair, and a youth bed
with rails. This latest news will provide an opportunity for some additional needs in the
future.
The Mission Committee plans to have the Butler House move-in ready by July 1st.
Here are more suggestions to PRAY in helping The Campbell Family adjust on furlough
and reentry.
1. Give them time to rest/adjust. Don't expect too much of them. They're tired,
overworked, maybe over stressed… They will be willing to help in any way they can,
but need to know it’s ok just to rest, study, regroup and be a family w/out the pressures
of full time ministry for a little while.
2. Recognize the difficulty they (and especially their children) may have in readjusting to
the US culture. They may not be up to date on all the politically correct social
expectations. Give them grace when the inevitable faux pas happens.
3. Bless them with family/couple time. On the field there is often not money, time, or
available opportunities for family or couples retreats, outings, camps, vacations, etc.
Consider blessing them by making it possible for them to enjoy these things while
“stateside”.
4. Be ready to just listen, fellowship, and counsel when necessary. Missionary life is often
lonely, especially if not serving in a team. Missionaries need to know you are a safe and
trustworthy friend who will listen freely without judging, accept them for who they are
with their now-international quirks, and offer biblical and ministry advice when needed.
Many missionaries also look forward to furlough as a time to sit under sound preaching
(instead of preaching themselves each service). You will want to hear about their
ministry of course, but also try to give them time to be fed from the Word themselves.
Please contact Ann Jackson (706) 339-0072 or [email protected] with any questions
or donations. Blessings!!
