First Friday Main Events, Fall 2013
First Friday meets on the first Friday of each month, September through May
(except for holidays, then we meet on the second Friday).
Attend with friends & make it a girl’s day out or come alone.
Everyone is welcome.
For real life change, connect a small group of friends and
use FF messages & the authors’ books for your discussion.
September 6: “Successful Women
Think Differently”
Scientific studies prove what the ancient wisdom of Scripture
has shown all along: Successful women think differently. They
make decisions differently, set goals differently and bounce
back from failure and adversity differently. Hear spirituallygrounded truth to sleep better at night feeling peace about
your decisions, step out on faith to pursue a long-held dream,
and change your mindset from “I’ll do that someday” to concrete
goals with realistic steps. Let’s rethink what we’re thinking!
October 4: “Women at War: Bring Peace to
Yourself and Your Girlfriends, too!”
Why are women so mean? Hear directly about the
issue of why girls, of every age, can go from friend
to enemy with ease. We will understand the real
issue and expose the lies of our true enemy. You
will feel empowered as you learn how to cultivate
your strength as a woman and embrace the path
of peace that’s paved with healthy female relationships.
November 1: “Discover Beauty in Brokenness”
Discover the renowned belief that beauty can be found
among brokenness. Take away what Pam and her
husband learned along the road of suffering after
losing their son: Maybe the answer to grief, or to
feeling lost, is to give recklessly and passionately.
Just because we hurt doesn't mean we can't stand
in the gap for others, not only in an effort to help
them in their journeys but also in an attempt to heal
our own aching souls.
December 6: “Contentment—(At Christmas?
Yeah, Like That’s Gonna Happen)”
Contentment: It’s an adjective, a noun and a verb, and it
can make women nervous. It can seem like an unattainable
spiritual discipline that one can never quite achieve. The
Apostle Paul said he learned to be content, and we’re
going to look at exactly what those lessons entailed.
What does contentment mean to us specifically &
personally, especially during the busy, chaotic holiday
season. Contentment … it’s not about your mentality,
it’s about your reality!

and has served hundreds

Jan Greenwood
As a pastor, speaker and author of
Women at War, Jan has a passion to
lead women into places of strength and
wholeness. She’s an integral part of the
Pink Team at Gateway Church in
Southlake, where she serves as pastor
of women. Jan is a wife of 30 years,
proud mom to four great kids and a
breast cancer survivor.
Pam Cope
Pam and her husband are co-founders
of the Touch A Life Foundation, a non-profit
based in Dallas devoted to rescuing and
advocating on behalf of exploited and
trafficked children. The group is a legacy
created after the sudden death of their son
Jantsen at 15 years old. She co-authored
the memoir Jantsen’s Gift, which has
been published in Italy, China and Turkey.
Debbie Stuart
Currently the Church and Leadership
Development Director at Women of
Faith, Debbie previously served as
the Women’s Ministry Director at
Prestonwood Baptist Church.
She also co-authored 20 Minutes
Day with God and wholeheartedly
believes discovering and pursuing
God’s plan and purpose for our
lives is worth any sacrifice.
