Prof. Erik Cohen

professor and director of research and evaluation group, Bar-Ilan University.
Erik H. Cohen received his B.A. and M.A. from the University of Lyon, France, his DEA in
Sociolinguistics at the Sorbonne, and was a Jerusalem Fellow in Jewish education. In 1986,
he received his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Nanterre, France. He currently
teaches in the Faculty of Social Sciences at Bar-Ilan University’s School of Education as
associate professor. He is also scientific director of the independent Research and
Evaluation Group in Jerusalem. Prof. Cohen’s research fields include French Jewish
Demography and Sociology, Youth Culture in Modern and Postmodern Society, Educational
Tourism, Sociology of Jewish Education, and theoretical and methodological issues in
informal education. He has published seven books in English, French and Hebrew and
numerous articles in international journals.
