Dear Friends,
It was hard to believe we had another exciting Fall with hurricanes. After Hurricane Katrina, Quilts Inc., the organizers for
Quilt Market and Quilt Festival in Houston, TX started a fund
raiser and a quilt collection drive. More than 7500 quilts were
donated and more than a million dollars raised in two months.
Many of our customers participated in making quilts for the
hurricane evacuees. The Suzanne’s Quilt Shop donated 10%
of the sales from our largest day in September to the American Red Cross. Many other charitable quilt organizations
around the country did the same.
Hurricane Rita arrived in Texas the weekend of the Jacksonville Quiltfest in Florida. Gas prices went skyrocketing. Ladd
and I were vending at that show. Everyone was wondering if
people would pay over $3.00/ gallon to drive to the show.
Simply Quilts with Alex Anderson
HGTV has informed Alex Anderson that her show Simply
Quilts will not be renewed. HGTVwill play previous episodes for 2006. This is very disappointing news for the quilting community. Alex Anderson has done a wonderful job as
show hostess. The show has had a successful run and has
inspired many of us to try new quilting techniques. To voice
your views please write to:

Hurricane Wilma arrived in South Florida the weekend of
Quilt Market in Houston. The shop owners were scurrying to
get home to see how their homes and business faired. Most of
South Florida had a power loss that went on for days. The
holidays arrived soon after.
January 2006 welcomes in beautiful weather and gas prices
are down. It’s time to get back to quilting. YEAH!!!!
Happy New Year and Happy Quilting,
