Pearson High School opened its doors in 1976 and has been enriching the lives of students for almost 4 decades. With a diverse curriculum, great surroundings, large list of extra curricular ac\vi\es and amazing staff, Lester B. Pearson is the place to be. A_er listening to what Pearson has to offer, we hope that you will want to become part of the LBP family! Honours Program: This challenging course of study is aimed at the students who perform well on the placement tests. The honours group follows an accelerated Math program to enable the students to enroll in Calculus, Chemistry, and Physics. Français Langue Maternelle Program: In addi\on to extra subjects in French, this program allows students to graduate from LBP with valued Langue Maternelle credits on their Releve de Notes from M.E.L.S. Sport-‐Etudes Program Sports Study is a pres\gious program designed for the high performance athlete. The student's academic schedule, modified to develop and encourage the student-‐athlete, offers the student the opportunity to successfully achieve excellence in sports and academics. Located between the auditorium & cafeteria, facing the locker area and in the center of all the ac\on, the plaza is the Heart of Lester B. Pearson High School. Display cases featuring GMAA banners, photos of recent school events and many of or co-‐curricular and extra curricular ac\vi\es occupy the plaza. The auditorium is where our students gather for school assemblies, mo\va\onal speakers, visi\ng theatre companies or for our annual variety show. The past year we had Chris Nilan as a mo\va\onal speaker and the previous year we were visited by Freeway Frank & Natasha! Our variety show is a 3-‐night sold out show that showcases the talents of our very own LBP students The cafeteria is located right off the plaza and is where our students can go to enjoy their a nutri\ous yet delicious snack or meal whether its lunch, recess or breakfast \me. Students can join the Breakfast Club to get an affordable and healthy meal to start their day. Snacks are then served at recess and at lunch, there are several meals prepared for all taste buds. Our newly renovated lockers are not only colorful but spacious as well. All lockers are all in the same area leading right into our plaza. They are locked at all \mes except when our students need their books and bags making our locker system and all valuables in there, super safe. Lester B. Pearson not only has one gym, but four that can accommodate 4 gym class or 2 indoor soccer games at the same \me. An outdoor track, two main locker rooms, numerous team prepara\on rooms, a fitness center and a well stocked supply of sports gear are other features which are in constant use at our school. We also have several sports teams such as our girls and guys soccer teams, intramural hockey, cross country, track and field and many more! Another addi\on to Lester B. Pearson is our dance room. Hardwood floors and mirrors covering the walls are the perfect environment for any dancer. Take a dance course and learn many different styles of dance ranging from hip-‐hop to jazz to contemporary. Take your love for the performing arts further and join our dance troupe to be a part of a spectacular performance and star in our annual variety show. What more could a dancer ask for! The Library is the brain of Lester B. Pearson High School. Hundreds of books stock the shelves and mul\ple computers line the desks. Student art work adorns the entrance to the library and con\nues into the room, wrapping around the walls that surround the books. Students can come a_er school to do their homework or to just enjoy a good read. Lester B. Pearson has created three laboratories designed to carry out computer applica\ons. Within each lab the students have access to 32 computers where they can carry out several programs. You may visit these labs with your teacher or may even take an interest in media which will be a course available once a senior. If needed to use one out of class, the library is equipped with several as well. Crea\vity is flowing in our school, especially in our hallways! Thanks to our very own students in the art collec\ves club several hallways are covered in murals. Many hallways have drawings on the walls to represent the wing they are in such as the art wing or language wing. Others, such as those in the gym area have mo\va\onal phrases so that our students always feel inspired! For those who want to share their talent can join the schools art collec\ves club when they become a senior. Our science department has access to 5 laboratories. These laboratories allow the students to carry out the prac\cal components of the high school science curriculum. They are a dream for those science lovers and every year students can par\cipate in the scholar science fair where students demonstrate their talent for science and technology. We also have a technology lab located on the main floor. Student council is the place for the students to voice their opinion and to be the change they want to see in school. They are in charge of planning and running major events throughout the school. They also play a major role in raising school funds and doing charity work as well. If your looking to get involved, student council is the place to be. We Day
