channels on 1 October – SUSAN
DStv announced on 29 August that it will migrate its services to a new satellite, which increase capacity
to add more channels and services in the future. Six Standard Definition (SD) channels and seven HD
channels will be added from 1 October, which means DStv will now boast 14 HD channels. The extra
HD channels will include two from NBC Universal – Studio Universal and Universal – plus six M-Net
movie channels. Take note, some channel numbers will change. The new channels will come into effect
automatically as of 06:00 on Monday 1 October and the new M-Net Movie Channels will launch later
that day at 10:30. The extra channels will be available at no extra cost to DStv premium bouquet holders,
as well as existing HD PVR customers with DStv Premium bouquets. Here are the new channel numbers:

tvplus why did they end a good series like The Closer when it was at the peak of its
tvplus,
success? Can we expect a new series from Kyra? She’s fabulous, just like your magazine;
two of a kind – JOHNY
For once, the decision to end a hit series came not from the big bosses, but from the
star herself, Kyra Sedgwick. “I thought about it for about a year, and it finally came
down to the fact that I really want to do other things, creatively. I’m an artist and
I want to express myself in other ways and other places,” she said. But when she
decided to close the book on Brenda, The Closer’s producers decided to do something unusual. They’ve kept most of the cast and The Closer will get a spin-off series
titled Major Crimes, in which Mary McDonnell’s character, Sharon Raydor, will take
centre stage, while Provenza, Flynn, Mike Tao, Sanchez, and Buzz Watson will also
return. Since leaving The Closer, Kyra has three film projects on the go – The
Possession, Chlorine and Kill Your Darlings – but no new TV series yet.

The happy couple
W
hile Christo David’s working day includes playing
20-something 7de Laan schemer Errol, behind the scenes
Christo and his beautiful fiancée, Cindy Khana, are adding
the finishing details for their big day. In between shooting
scenes for the popular Afrikaans soap, theatre productions and writing,
Christo is slowly but surely making his way to the altar.
In case you haven’t heard the news yet, the 7de Laan actor did the
whole getting-down-on-one-knee thing in January this year. Obviously
Cindy said “yes” and now they’re fast on their way to saying their “I do’s”.
After having been together for nine years, Christo asked Cindy to become
Mrs Davids on Table Mountain. Classic and oh-so romantic! So when will
Cindy walk down the aisle to take the hand of her love? According to
Christo, the official date is set for 9 March 2013. With the lovely summer
sun and gorgeous scenery, Stellenbosch will serve as backdrop to their
magical day and fits in perfectly with the couple’s love for the Cape.
Even though the wedding is only a few months away, Christo told
us that everything still needs to be put together! But he doesn’t know
all that much about the wedding plans. “All I know is that I need to be
at the church at 15:00.” Well, wedding planning isn’t for everyone, and if
your diary is anything like Christo’s, there isn’t much time to do everything
on your own. Luckily, the couple hired a wedding planner for that bit.
So what are Christo’s thoughts on finally getting hitched to the girl
of his dreams? “It’s very freaky but I’m so excited. I wouldn’t mind
marrying her and I wouldn’t mind if she says yes!” he jokingly said.
The bun in the oven is comin’!
While Christo Davids is getting ready to walk down the aisle, Jacques
Blignaut, better known as super-chef Vince Meintjies on 7de Laan,
and his gorgeous wife, Melanie, are preparing for the arrival of the
latest edition to the family – a baby girl! The Blignaut princess is
expected to make her appearance at end of September and the couple
simply can’t wait to soon hear the pitter-patter of baby feet at home.
“We are extremely excited but also quite nervous,” Jacques said quite
calmly. When asked about whether they have decided on a name for
their baby girl yet, Jacques said they are still thinking. All he knows
is that it will be a French name. “I’ve always had a thing for French
names, for both boys and girls. And because my name and surname
is French, I’ve just always thought we should stick to that.” Congrats,
guys, and we at tvplus can’t wait to meet the Blignaut babe.

Rumours that comedian and Roast Master Trevor Noah “fled”
South Africa to move to the States have been fuelled by the
drama between his mother and stepfather. Stepfather Ngisaveni
Shingange was in court in March for shooting Trevor’s mother,
Nombuyiselo Noah, in the back and face last year and he was
sentenced to three years of correctional supervision on 3 August
2012 after pleading guilty to attempted murder charges. Trevor
explained to heat magazine, “The story of my mom being shot
was actually a year late. The people who ran it picked up an old
court case and tried to make old news, new.”
