g r u b s c i n a h Mec n o i t a d n u Area Fo N UNDATIO O F L A N O A REGI 2015 REPORT TO THE COMMUNITY Dear Friends of Mechanicsburg - near and far…. As a Charter Member of the Mechanicsburg Area Foundation (MAF) I am delighted to report that since the last 2012 Annual Report, MAF has increased our net worth from a little more than $3.4 million to more than $4.5 million as of 2014…and thanks to the economy in early 2015 we have added another $500,000 to our bottom line. It might be quite possible that a $5 million target will be a reality heading toward our 30 year anniversary. Our thanks goes to the generosity of our friends and fund holders and the efforts over many years of our former Advisory Committee members. Our initial committee very quickly and generously established 20 of the 66 MAF Funds in the first few years. They have grown into more than half of our portfolio. Very special thanks to the founding fathers! The Mechanicsburg Area Foundation continues to grow and support a wider and wider variety of charities who focus on programs that benefit the greater Mechanicsburg area in many ways! In our formative years the income generated would only support a small number of grants. You will see information regarding our recent grants in this report, including numerous scholarships. We encourage you to consider making a donation to an existing fund or create one in honor or memory of a loved one or to benefit your church or favorite charity. The staff of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities, our umbrella organization, is ready and willing to work with you. You will find their contact information in this report. I will be retiring from the Mechanicsburg Area Foundation next year, but have considered my involvement a privilege and an honor. The establishment of MAF will benefit future generations and enhance our community in perpetuity. I am excited about the future of MAF and welcome the new MAF Advisory Committee members especially our new chairman, Scott Christ! Tita Hershner Eberly Immediate Past Chairman MISSION STATEMENT: To stimulate philanthropy and enhance the quality of life in the community through accumulating, managing and disbursing financial assets, and to serve as a catalyst, neutral convener and facilitator to meet a wide range of community needs in the Mechanicsburg Area. 2014 MAF Advisory Committee Scott J.
