SUCCESS STORIES COVOARE-UNGHENI JSC – small investment into great carpets Covoare-Ungheni JSC is Moldova’s largest carpet manufacturer. With a production capacity of 5 million m2 per year, the company is the market leader in Moldova and is a major exporter to Europe as well as neighboring countries. Covoare Ungheni applied for MoSEFF financing for a new power factor correction unit based on capacitors for compensation of 860 kVAr of reactive power. The main goal of the project was to reduce the reactive load in the local distribution network and thereby minimize electricity losses and decrease electricity consumption. With a EUR 25,000 investment, the company has reduced its reactive load by 47% and its distribution losses by 21%.
