Covoare-Ungheni JSC – improved waste water treatment
Covoare-Ungheni JSC is Moldova’s largest carpet
manufacturer with an annual production of 5 million m2. The
company is the country’s market leader for carpets and a
major exporter to Europe and neighboring countries.
Covoare Ungheni applied for MoSEFF financing for the
rehabilitation of the water purification station. With a EUR
160,000 investment, the decanter and the control system
were replaced. As a result of the project, the wastewater
discharge into the nearby river was reduced, improving the
environmental performance of the company. The new
components further contributed to 38% reductions in
electrical energy consumption for water treatment and
further environmental impact was achieved through the
related 38% savings in CO2 emissions.
