(URD) announced that it has won
the rights to bring one of Lebanon’s
iconic
landmarks,
Roadster
Diner®, to the Emirates.
URD successfully overcame stiff
competition from other established
regional players to acquire the UAE
franchise of Roadster Diner®.
An agreement to this effect was
signed on February 4, 2008
between Walid Hajj, CEO of
United Restaurant Development
Company and Samer Chehlaoui,
Managing Partner of Roadster
Diner®. This development will
also mark the first time that the
well-known brand has ventured
into international markets.

Following the acquisition of the franchise, URD will embark on
an aggressive expansion strategy for the brand in the UAE.
Beginning with the establishment of the first Roadster Diner® in
Dubai’s prestigious Jumeirah district, URD will open a total of 10
outlets in the UAE over the next five years.
Founded in 1998, Roadster Diner® has quickly risen to become
Lebanon’s premier casual dining chain that now operates
eight outlets in Lebanon. The menu offering includes delicious
appetizers, burgers, desserts and much more featuring the best
casual dining experience.

Officially, Roaster Diner is our 4th brand and we cannot wait to open. Last week, Louay and I signed the franchise agreement with
the Lebanese-based Roadster Diner in Beirut to mark the beginning of what I think is a new phase in the life cycle of URD.
I have been speaking about change for a while now, and the signing of Roadster is just another one of these positive moves
forward that we are putting together to make URD the world-class company that I have always dreamed of. Roadster is a “Leap”
forward because it is a full-fledged casual dining concept that we never really entered. Roadster is a “Leap” Forward because it
will, if executed well, pull URD to new levels in terms of size (people, sales, value…etc). Roadster is a “Leap” forward because
it is significant and important for our future.
We
have
started
our efforts to launch
Roadster. You will soon
see in the press the
news about the signing
and we will slowly build
towards the full launch
which will happen in May/
June when we open our
first store in Jumeriah…
inshallah. Roadster didn’t
come easy! We were in
competition with major
groups that are larger
than us (for now!), but at
the end I am proud to say
that we prevailed!
